Review Primi Century City - Century City

Tasneem Adams
Have not as yet had any reason to negatively review. Good food, good portion sizes, accommodating of additions or eliminations with no issue nor mistake. On point service, friendly waitrons & relaxed atmosphere. The lady expeditor they have is amazing! I will get her name next time. She runs the kitchen well.

The waiters were very kind. I needed to charge my phone and they gave me a table that was right next to the socket. I had the resco chicken and cheesecake, both were delicious. The resco dish had enough sauce which had lots of flavour. They also provided some extra chilli sauce, parmesan cheese and garlic sauces on the side, although I didn't need to add them. I will say that the service was a little slow; I had to call for my bill. I suppose they were just being polite and thought I needed more time. The resco chicken was reasonably priced at R97. The cheesecake was a little expensive in comparison.

Ordered the recco classic with chicken and was disappointed with the chicken that was added to my portion. I made my waiter aware that I wasn't happy but did not ask for more. Halfway through my meal, the manager brought me a bowl of chicken in the same recco sauce. And said it's on the house. Why the 5 stars then? The food was delicious, fresh ingredients and after a few bites I didn't care about the lack of chicken. Absolutely mouth-watering and a great save. To be fair, the food was so good that I wouldn't have remembered the chicken issues. I eventually paid for the extra portion anyway and provided a generous tip because it was that good. WELL DONE!

The pasta served here is really good value for money. They’re on the cheaper side compared to other restaurants but still tasty and filling. The service could be better though, they’re not very attentive and at times would blatantly ignore you. You do get served with the usual cheese, garlic and chili condiments. I’d still return because it was probably just a bad day :)

I liked the place, atmosphere is fine, food was too, maybe a bit conservative on portions, but not bad in general. Food wss mostly tasty with exception of the salmon which clearly was overcooked and consequently dry, everything else was pleasant. Keep an eye to customers so that they don't have to be waving for help all the time, is the key improvement I suggest.

Always have such a lovely time at PRIMI. Their service is always impeccable and their food is high quality. Their portion size is never disappointing. I had a Mocha with a cute heart and Salmon & Avo on Flat bread. Also quite well priced with generous amount of Salmon

Food and service is good but they can have more televisions to keep you up to date with the sport...maybe they'll attract more customers.

absolutely great service, friendly staff and a nice variety of meals. pastas are spectacular and pizzas are normally amazing crispy crusts. The meat selection is wonderful and steaks are made at the right texture, Salads are simply splendid and even the seafood never fails to impress. Kids menu is really condensed but has all the favorites the kids love. Really good starters as well. A little dissapointed in the variety of deserts but the rest of the meal definately makes up for it

Kitchen got my daughters order totally wrong. We asked for half portion and got a full one. She asked for spaghetti and got penne. Sadly the waitress blamed the kitchen for the mistake. There seems to be a breakdown of communication between the kitchen and front of house. Ignoring the incorrect order the food was pleasant. Restaurant was very quiet but it was late and most of the stores were closing.

Primi always offers consistency in their food and service, it's my go-to eatery in canal walk. I love the cocktails and my favorite order is the zucchini fries and the recco pasta. It's in the mall so it does tend to get noisy especially in the outside seating but this is to be expected.

The ambiance and setup is quite nice. The service is average, though very cordial staff. The pasta (white sauce) was good. A lot of menu items were out of stock.

Ate there on Saturday with the family. Paid R730 for ribs and pizza which was not up to standard. Waiter apologised. Left there disappointed. Went and had lunch at another restaurant.

My friends and I enjoy Primi but on Tuesday evening I was very disappointed by their service. They did not (and not for the first time) have stock of the creme brûlée which we specifically drove there for, but we soon made peace with that.

My friend ordered the pasta but didn’t specify which portion yet, the waiter then proceeded to tell her “ you want the large portion right” thrown by the suggestive way he asked the question I asked him why he assumed that’s what she wanted, to which he replied “she just Looks like that is for her” and then laughs at my friend. At this we asked him kindly to walk away from our table. A different waiter then started serving our table but the situation could be turned around. The only reason we stayed for dinner is that one friend has a wheat allergy and Primi is one of the only restaurants serving gluten free pasta.

Do better Primi! We never have these issues at the V&A which is always fantastic.

I miss the old location, however, the same vibe can be found in the new location. Friendly staff, good service and an excellent recco pasta. They still make the best long Island ice teas.

We love going to Willowbridge Primi and due to electricity being of we decided to drive out to Canal walks primi WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! No bread anymore while you waight for your meal, waighted 40min for our meal AND then they bring the wrong pasta choice. I order a beetroot salad but there was less than a half of a beetroot in there and it was cut in to raisin sizes. very disappointing. Def won't be back
Rhudwulf
Very nice and modern place. They still have one of the best chocolate milkshakes around. Their burgers are good but i prefer their pastas. They also have a great liquor selection as well as awesome mock-tales

So my boyfriend and I ate at primi for the first time and I must say their vibe and food are delicious and their drink alcohol and no alcoholic are simply tasty.... thanks for the great service and lovely food you are one of my new best places to eat at be sure I’ll atleast be their once a week... I am especially a big fan of their delicious pasta and Tasty ice tea

Went to Primi as part of a work function. The steak was tough and full of sinew. Hardly much sauce on the steak. And they charge R160 for that?!

The revamp is absolutely beautiful. Loved the new setting and decor.

Service was disappointing, understandably so because it was month end,but still?not even once did our waitress come check on us,it fell on us to keep trying to get her attention.

Had just gone for drinks but my friends had the pizza and complained about it being burnt and that the complimentary bread was stale.

This has not completely crushed my faith in them though, will visit again on less busy day, maybe things will be better the Waterfront branch has never disappointed. If I’m really really hungry and want something quick and tasty I make a stop at Primi in Canal Walk. I think this is the place where I spend most of my weekly food allowance.

The restaurant has relocated upstairs close to entrance 8 and is opposite Edgar’s. I must say this location is so much better. You have the option of sitting inside or “outside”. I prefer outside as the natural light makes it seem as if you’re really outside.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Several of them have been there for years and make a point of greeting the regulars as if they’re old friends. I love that, it makes me feel special🤗

This is one of the places where, over the years, I’ve tried everything on the menu. I like everything I’ve tried and have very little to complain about.

My favorites here are the recco con pollo and the fries made with baby marrow which is battered and deep fried. These are the things I can’t resist. It was so good I forgot to take pics

My only complaint is that sometimes, when it’s very busy, it’s hard to get the staff’s attention. If it were not for that I’d have given this place five stars.

Service was below average, you had to pay for butter if you wanted it with your "free bread" they give you before your meal. The only good thing about this specific primi was their pasta. Primi is normally my go-to for when I'm feeling for some pasta but I'd probably only come to this one again to meet up with people considering it's a pretty central venue for most people.

I have been eating at Primi for years but I must say after the move I feel like besides the prices that have increased considerably, the pizza has also changed, it's not quite the same anymore. I had the Hawaiian and it was quite bland and the base didn't have the same smokey flavour it used to. It's a let down and I won't have any pizza's there again. On a side note - the Witblitz jam jar was lit

We popped in for a quick lunch after they had relocated and revamped the store.

We asked to be seated at a table on the balcony area, which is nice and bright. Our waiter took a while to get to us, but the restaurant was quite busy and he was managing a lot of tables.

The crowd subsided after lunch and we got to eat our meal in peace. Ordered the spinach & feta pizza, side salad and peppadew poppers.

Pizza was generously topped but still thin and crispy. The poppers were wonderfully tangy and crispy. The side salad was a welcomed burst of freshness.

The revamp has done this chain some good. The food was fresh and tasty!
Mishkah Babletakis
I ordered the linguine pollo e pesto and although the dish was well flavoured it only had three pieces of chicken in it, totally unacceptable for the price of the meal. When we brought this to the waiter's attention he said he will ask the chef to which there was no feedback from the kitchen. The calfornia pizza base was just soggy! We had to wait more than 10 minutes for a waiter to take our order and another 15 minutes wait to get the complimentary bread.

This is a regular spot for The Husband and I and we always order the same thing: full portion recco pasta with mushrooms. It's so comforting and I especially love the curry taste and heap of coriander on top. I think about it days after we've left, that's how good it is 😍
Amit Bhana
Ordered a jam jar, gluten free meditteranean chicken pizza and a chicken recco for our table. Food was not very hot so standing a bit which meant the gluten free pizza base got quite tough. Tasted ok. Recco was decent although shy of chicken so I'm told.
Heavy food poisoning the next day after having the chicken pizza. Second time at a primi with chicken. It's a no go from now on.

I did let them know to avoid this happening to anyone but they were not interested
Zilumkile James
To avoid food poisoning, make sure you don't go to this Primi. They sold me rotten takeaway wings, and were not even apologetic about it when i made them aware

Had the most TERRIBLE experience here. We were seated at around 7.20pm. Our food order was taken at 7.35pm. I ordered a burger, my boyfriend a pasta. Around 20-30 minutes after our order was taken, 3 couples were then seated at the tables around us. By 8.15pm all of these couples had received their food, their orders not very different from ours. Burgers and pastas as well. As our waiter delivers food to the table next to ours, he notices that it's been 40 minutes and we still haven't received our food. He comes over and says that our food should have been out by now and that he is going to check on our order. As the other couples were already receiving their take away boxes, the waiter still hadn't come back to give us an update. At this point I got up and demanded to see the manager. First I had to endure 2 waiters arguing about who is going to call the manager because the one was busier than the other. Eventually the manager comes, and I explain that we've been waiting for our order for over an hour, and all the couples around us that arrived after us are basically already done eating. He then says that he is aware of our situation. He said he noticed that our order had been in line for a long time, and asked our waiter what the hold up was. Our waiter had apparently "forgot" to put our order through. SO BOTH OUR WAITER AND THE MANAGER WERE AWARE OF THIS, BUT NONE OF THEM MADE AN EFFORT TO UPDATE US OR EVEN APOLOGISE. After the manager's pathetic excuse for an apology, he said we could order additional drinks on the house. I declined, and said all I want to know is that our food is being made. He couldn't answer me. It's now 8.45pm, and still nothing. The waiter hadn't even come back since he last told us our food should have been out. At 9pm, 1 hour 40 minutes after we ordered, OUR FOOD HAD STILL NOT ARRIVED. We got up, took our things, went to the manager and told him we're leaving and we refuse to pay. All he said was "Okay it's fine". NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

We were looking for a light meal and stopped here. The staff were friendly and the manager was helpful but the food was a little disappointing. I ordered the beetroot and roast butternut salad and it was really underwhelming. In all honesty Woolies sells a better salad. There was very little beetroot and butternut and the salad was bulked up with lettuce. There dressing was also a bit of a let down. We also ordered the rosemary focaccia and this was really dry with barely any rosemary. The carbonara was and the recco did save the meal but it was a disappointing experience overall. I won't be dining at this particular establishment any time soon
Kaitlyn Williams
Was amazed at the wonderful redecorating of the restaurant. Staff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and in a frenzy but our waiter tried his best to be as helpful as possible. Although they did run out of complimentary bread, which I don't understand since it was peak time for them? The food was delicious and the size portions were worth the price. I had my favourite Linguine Carbonara.

From entering the restaurant 🍴 the vibe was just welcoming, waitress was truly welcoming and my Bae and I moved around the restaurant looking for a really good spot while the waitress still kept a cool and easy vibe, ordered our drinks and our starter and was served within 5mins really good service. Enjoyed our good company and then ordered some yummy food, Bae had some pasta while I had a burger with some really good fries 🍟, again within 10mins food was served. The highlight of our evening was thee amazing carrot cake 🎂 10/10. Deffs perfect for date night or a good chill with some friends. 5stars deffs.
Johan Van Dyk
Revamp is much better.
I had primi beef burger with zucchini fries. Burger was ok. Fries was very oily. I removed the zucchini from the dough.
Overall the food is bit pricey.
Wine is well priced.

I visit Primi at Canal Walk more than once a month owing to its close proximity. The staff are always attentive and the Manager, Mr Cadet is a remarkable gentleman who will make you feel like family. The Moroccan Pizza and Pesto Pasta are favourites, though I have enjoyed many other dishes on the menu like the oven baked veg lasagna. I love the new store setup and look forward to my next visit!
Chris Rafael
Primi has always felt a bit overpriced in my opinion based purely on the fact that sides are are extra. The food is a step up from most other franchises that offer the same type of food but I think you pay for the ambience. The food is prepared okay but some stuff is not as fresh as it could be, example the hollandaise which was ice cold a sign it wasn’t prepared with the order.
Yemurai Muchenje
The Primi in Canal Walk relocated to a better location with more space and much better lighting than before. Great move!

I ordered the Primi Burger with a beef patty and the Pink Grapefruit G&T.

The cocktail was alright. The burger and fries were also neither here nor there although the patty was very salty and chewy for some reason. Their pasta(which my friends had) is apparently good so next time, I'll try instead. Overall, good location, okay vibe, good prices, okay food.

I'm really not a big fan of eating in a mall, if feels like I'm a tortoise in a glass cage and people stare at me while I eat. But in a emergency Primi did the trick. I had a extra large pizza and it was very delicious. The house wine is also very well priced. Our waitress was also a superstar. The people around us were stupid and loud. Pffft, mall people.
Nabeelah Cader
Friendly staff and kitchen is always able to make our favourite peri per chicken pizza from the old menu without a fuss. I always get the recco pasta sauce on the side to dip the pizza crust into. It's YUM! New homemade ice teas are really refreshing :)
Leila Rossouw
My first time at this Primi and I was not disappointed. It was quite busy when we got there so we had to wait for a table. As usual, I ordered a burger and it was good, although it lacked sauce so it was alittle dry.
Zaahidah Adams
The service in this place was just okay for me.
We were moving moved around due to booked and unclean tables. My partner does not like drama so he gets upset if I complain coz I like escalating things.
Our starters came the same time as the food which made it impossible to finish our mains.
The cocktail I had tasted like water more than anything else due to all the ice.

Update: Revamped & Relocated to the other side of the Mall. Not only does the place look nicer their service is simply better too, friendly staff and their food still good as always however their prices are slightly unreasonable.
Sheryll
Primi have perfectly acceptable food.
It's easy going, tasty and relatively good value for money.
Recently we got the seafood pasta to take away which was very much a let down.
2 prawns only and 4 small mussels for R150 is really average, plus there was next to no sauce with the pasta

I'd say their pizzas are better along with the tapas
Laylah Fay
I love this Primi! Although PRIMI is a chain store, the Canal Walk branch has the best in terms of service and food.

My go-to dish is the Recco Gamberi 🍤🍝

All around great service, even when you're seated outside and away from the staff's immediate view.
Jared Shapiro
The food is good but not anything amazing. The pizza is always tasty but the base isn't as light and crispy as a lot of other restaurants in my opinion. The pasta is always satisfying and the portion is a good size and won't leave you hungry. The service is quick and the staff are always friendly.

We met friends of ours at Primo Piatti a few weeks ago. It just happened to be the evening of SONA so our 1st choice was out of the question due to it being in Cape Town.

We arrived first and placed orders that everyone sent thru. We were all together before the food arrived. I ordered the chilli poppers as a starter and they were perfect; not oily, nice and cheesy and nice heat from the chillies. For the main, my husband had a pizza. I chose pasta and it was so good.
I have to admit, I normally stay away from Primi Piatti due to lack of service but we didn't have that problem this time. I recommend Primi.
Jana Ferreira
We were a group of about 20 rowdy people and still, wonderfully friendly service, seriously scrumptious food, and not one order fumble or unacceptably long waiting period. The outside section is a great plus too.

Primi, you've really impressed me with your large and truly delicious menu, as well as your competent, forever-smiling staff. I will be back for more!
Tanweer
Had our meal takeaway. The Recco pasta was a winner, well flavoured and good a portion as always. But the burger was a bit of a disappointment as it was bland.
Tasneem Khan
I always go to Primi Piatti especially for the Recco Con Pollo. During my last visit, I have noticed the price has gone up and the quality has gone down. The sauce and chicken pieces are less and my pasta was not fully cooked.
Lindsey Napoleon
My favourite Primi branch is the Waterfront one. This one is fine, but definitely not as good. I think that it might be a combination of the waitors and the view. The food a fine. The seating outside is a bit awkward and you don't really feel like you'r part of the restaurant. It does a lot to the atmosphere of the place.
Update: Primi has moved and it looks good however the quality of pizzas has decreased. Soooo much cheese and it looks greasy and thick. Disappointing.
Gwen Serrotti
We ordered the pescatori and the prawns were not cleaned. The "poop shoot" was still present and some of the heads were not cleaned either. Eating the prawns in this condition can make a person violently ill. Check your prawns before you eat them! Reported the matter to the Manager Zodwa. They were kind enough to take care of the bill! The waiter, Steward, insisted on taking care of the bill for our drinks. He gets 10 stars!!!!

Primi Piatti in Canal Walk with ample seating inside or for a lovely sunny day you can sit outside under shaded umbrellas next to a fountain.

Their menu is quite extensive with an Italian flair that caters for all tastebuds. Their Calzone is delicious in flavour and filled with Italian Meatballs, fresh spinach, danish feta, mozzarella, salsa pomo doro and pecorino.

Pizzas have generous amounts of toppings and tasty. I opted for a meaty one - Murder by meat topped with spicy chorizo, peppers, gypsy ham, salami, bacon, salsa pomo doro and mozzarella.

We visited Primi a couple of times and they always deliver the same level of quality in terms of food and service.
Esther Paulsen
We love coming here, but this time the service was really not good. Waited forever for a creme brulee was most definitely not fresh. Not impressed at all.
The Jax Blog
I love this place! Super friendly staff and super fast service! Besides my favourite Litchi Jam Jar, their generous portions of pizza and pasta never disappoint! 😀👅 THank you PRIMI Irma Pietersen

What started off as a pleasant afternoon turned completely sour due to the poor management of this branch by Cadette (not sure of the spelling of his name).
My friends and I ordered three recco pastas, two vegetarian and one with chicken. I also ordered a side of zucchini fries which I asked to be served as a starter.
When our mains arrived, the zucchini fries had still not come. When I reminded the waitress, she said the kitchen had forgotten to prepare it and that it would be done in 5-10 minutes, which it was.
The zucchini fries were unbearably salty, and so soggy that they were breaking between my fingers as I attempted to dip them in the sauce. At the bottom of the bowl, there was a collection of oil which contributed to the sogginess. They were completely inedible.
When I told the manager, Cadette, that I was dissatisfied with the zucchini fries, he asked me "have you tried them before?" I told him that I had, and that these were unbearably salty and soggy and that I couldn't eat it. He then proceeded to take the zucchini fries and taste them himself (I assume, because he came back to the table saying "that's how it's supposed to taste.")
I am completely disgusted in the way he reacted to my complaint - actually going to taste the item and then lying that that was how it was meant to taste when it obviously wasn't. Despite him eventually taking it off my bill after a lot of arguing between us, I have never been more disgusted and disappointed in the management of an establishment and I'll never go back to this branch of Primi again.

Service is always pleasant, good food and fantastic music selection. Their grilled calamari and rocket is always a winner. A frequent spot to get a tasty meal after a shopping mission.

Love the setting at the Century City Primi Piatti. It is more intimate than some of the others, which makes for a low-key evening (sometimes you just need one of those)...

Ordered the Recco con Gamberi with gluten-free pasta. The prawns were cooked a tad bit too long, so they were a little rubbery. The sauce in the pasta was delicious.

The waitress serving my table was a delight and served us well.
Nicol Miller
I think out of all the Primi branches, this one definitely has the best service. The waiters are always eager, and lively and it's great to see that even if they are not serving your table, everyone is willing to chip in and help each other out. To eat, we ordered the Chicken liver pasta(penne) and the California pizza( chicken feta Avo). The portion sizes are good, pizza lacked abit of seasoning though. Otherwise, no complaints.

✔friendliest staff
✔good atmosphere
✔good portions
✔ value for money

✖under seasoned food
Anja Immelman
Since it's school holidays the restaurants were flooded with people, but Primi had some space for us. Eager waiters and friendly staff. Not bad for a quick lunch.
Glen Hunt
Dining in shopping malls, I'm always worried about chain restaurants as they have a set recipe and sometimes it can affect the quality but Primi at Canal Walk does an awesome job.

Very nice chicken and mushroom pasta and 3 meat pizza was great.

Service was actually really good. Always smiling and in communication with each other making sure the customer is being looked after.

Worth a visit if there is every one close by.
Carlétjie Van Eck
Standard primi : service depends on the luck of the draw - have had great fast service and other times poor service where I had to go look for waiters and call managers. Food is standard primi - thus when I crave primi I go here and know what I am getting.
Simone Hasselbach
It was at this Primi that i fell in love with goats cheese. Lol. I know. It was feta on a pizza and it tasted so great that i still only order this pizza from them. Had one delivered and didnt taste the same so vowed to only ever eat-in at Primi. Service is great at this branch and Its always jam-packed on weekends.
Lindie White
Surprisingly good - sharp, friendly service, generous portions and delicious pasta sauce. The Chicken & Broccoli in Linguine was great as was the other pasta. We arrived quite late for dinner and were some of the last guests to leave, yet we received a friendly welcome and were never rushed to leave.
Tiyaarah Cloete
I feel like the service here is mediocre, the food is okay though. I have good memories here from high school but it's changed substantially since then. It's still pretty affordable though, and as I said, the food is okay
Jess Styles
I definitely like the vibe of this Primi, it's great to sit outside and feel like you are away from the busyness of the mall on a nice sunny day. The service is great and the food as well. I recently popped in for breakfast and had the french toast, which I really enjoyed.
Gladys Leboho
I must say I am a huge fan of Primi but I wasn't too pleased with this particular one. I ordered the chicken campagnola with veggies. It didn't taste as great as it usually does and the veggies were not the best. I was hoping to get pieces of pumpkin but all I got was cherry tomatoes, cauliflower and other veggies that aren't too tasty. The service was however very good. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful.
Anisha Pillay
This primi is pretty standard, both in service and food. I don't particularly enjoy the seating situation though. The setting inside the restaurant is cold and gloomy and outside is way too close to the mall walkway.

On my last visit we were asked to wait 15min before they could seat us. I specified that I didn't wanna sit near the walkway, which they said was fine. After 15min they offered us a table outside and said I would have to wait significantly longer to sit inside. We were so starved by the time we were given a table that we just decided to eat fast and leave to avoid sitting at our table for too long.
Pavith Ramkelawon
I come here for breakfast every Saturday morning. I used to be a regular at Mugg and Bean but found Primi has much better food and service, especially this branch. Waiters are friendly and concerned about your satisfaction and the manager is always around and visibly involved. The breakfast menu could be a bit more diverse but the Chef's breakfast if good enough for me.
Ulisha Moodley
Prefer this branch to the Claremont one as they are always consistent with their food and service. The setting is a little dull but love their recco - it's exactly how you want it. Having had the recco more than three times here, all times have been consistent with no complaints.
Iman Bawa
This branch is quite big sometimes this actually enhances the experience and at other times it hinders. On my last visit I popped in for a quick breakfast, eggs royale. I can safely say that it was the worst eggs royale I've ever had. Service as also a little slow considering there had more staff than patrons. I will not be returning for breakfast.
Beverley Silkstone
One of our favourite stops. The service is always good. Food tonight was a bit dissapointing. Had the Quattro Formaggi pizza but it wasn't very "cheesy". more blue cheese would have rounded the flavours off nicely. My husbands forcaccia was a bit over done.
Sai Maharaj
Virgin Mojitos and Pizza- Yes please 🙌 They still make my favourite Virgin Mojito and the pasta is always amazing! Yesterday we tried the quattro formaggi pizza which was a great combination of cheese with a subtle hint of blue cheese and yummy onion marmalade. My boyfriend had the fresh tomato, avo and basil pizza which the manager was very kind to put back in the oven to grill the tomato instead. Our waitress Cynthia was so friendly and delightful.
Romi Diamond
It's been a while since I last visited Primi in Canal Walk, but I certainly will be coming back more often. It produces a trusted meal that you can always count on! The service and the management are fantastic. My personal favorite is the Recco , and they make a mean chocolate milkshake.
Debi Malherbe
Absolutely love that the do a bunless burger AND zucchini fries. One of my favorites for a lazy Saturday lunch.
Jesse Rhys Rinquest
All I can say pretty average for over inflated prices ! No taste, poor service ( food came out in batches oh and a meal was completely forgotten to be ordered), pasta my stargy and tasteless honestly make a better pasta at home! Get your act together
Carl Thomas
Great service from the friendly and attentive staff. Fresh croissant and really delicious. And comfortable seating for me and my 5 month old. 2 thumbs up.
Richard Barnett
This Primi is one of the better eateries in Canal Walk. Often packed to overflowing, the service remains reasonable and the food good. Like most chains, the menu features an abundance of options, here with Italian inspiration. The pasta is usually aldente and pizza is thin based. Pricing is moderate and perfectly acceptable for the food. The one area where I feel Primi is lacking is the scope and quality of the wine list, which is also, I fear a reflection of a large chain. If the weather is nice, sit outside, it isn't as noisy as the main restaurant.
Candice Martins
Ai.. Primi, Primi, Primi. I love this restaurant but today I was truly disappointed. We joined a group of friends for a quick lunch. We arrived and quickly ordered something to drink and shortly after that we ordered our food. The service we received was just terrible. We waited more than 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Once it did if was brought out in various intervals so half of us started eating while the others waited for their food. Throughout our time at the restaurant the waiter didn't check up on us once. We kept "harassing" the hostess for things we wanted and needed. When we received the bill one of our drinks was billed to our friends. I asked them to fix this so that I could pay. The waiter told me to get my friends to pay for it and then I must just give them cash. . .

I never in my life thought I'd have to explain to two staff members how to pour a Vodka Lima and water and then the still end up getting it wrong! #Failure
Habibah Ngoyi
They don't have the same food as waterfront... They don't have a seafood platter...😭 but they have the seafood paste love it must try looking...
Cindy Alfino
We are so regular at this Primitive that I'm sure they know all our life stories.

We have yet to have a bad experience here. The staff are friendly and make sure you're taken care of.

The food? Well we've had everything from pizza to pasta to burgers to bunless.bunless burgers to breakfast to muesli - there's a reason we come back. It's really good value for money and the kids have space to play - although they often end up wet afterwards (there's a water fountain).
Chantal
Had a recco with a rosemary focaccia. .. always a winner with this meal being a vegetarian. Ordered a margherita as well and kids enjoyed that too!
Christine Du Toit
Service was excellent and friendly! Even though the centre had a problem with gas, we were well informed what is available. We had the Napoli pizza. Very good. The grilled calamari is also excellent and well spiced with chillies!

It is a very nice restaurant. I can recommend the pizzas.

The staff is very friendly and it is close to a lot of amazing shops.

Visit Primi Piatti next time you go to Canal Walk.

Had a good time with wifey and friends. Pizza was good. Service not so good was little big much on the slow side. There where times I am sure the waitor got lost coming to our table ;-) .

Had a late dinner there. Can't say I can recommend. One of my biggest restaurant peeves is a frayed and tired-looking menu. Which is exactly what I received. Big minus in my book. Your menu is one of the most important ways of trying to sell your food, especially when the waiters aren't really helpful or talkative.

The ambience is nice but generally needs some maintenance. Bathroom also need ls good scrub.

Had a grilled chicken fillet salad thing, which had a nice taste, albeit drenched in (what I hope is) olive oil. The leaves were tired-looking and not appetising at all.

A few good points: the mint tea was really nice. The bread was incredible though. Fresh warm and tasty. But unfortunately we don't do dinner for the bread starter now do we?

I had a recco pasta and opted for gluten free pasta which was so great. And just when i had convinced myself i couldnt eat anything else...that portion of pasta was soo much i went ahead and was persuaded by my friend to order not just any hot choclate but a Jumbo one. The food was good stuff. Staff was on the ball and i loved that the manager came to check up on everyone every once in a while. When my jumbo hot chocolate came it was such a huge cup it felt bigger than my face id definitely recommend it for those chilly late nights. Also its such a cool spot to chill with your mates. My suggestion would be to get a loyalty card which has a small little teeny tiny once off fee but is so worth it as im always updated with specials that are running and has a few other benefits too. Love this place.

Well, if one goes ahead and eats in a "chain" restaurant then ones expectations are low. I was not disappointed!

As a chef who trained in Classic Italian cuisine then maybe I am always going to be disappointed with pizza here in South Africa. However, there are some simple basics to observe when selling pizza in a restaurant:
1 - if you say you are serving fresh coriander then use fresh, not stuff that is several days old and limp
2 - wash the said coriander. Grit and sand is not palatable
3 - make sure your pizza base is not soggy. Mine was except around the very edges

The decor of the restaurant looks tired and worn. The equally seem jaded and lack motivation. I suppose I should have known better but one has to try all places with an open mind and give them a chance

I did not eat my pizza, it was unpleasant. The harrisa sauce was more like peri peri than harrisa. I told the waitron I did not want it and she asked me if I wanted it packed for take away. So, I emphasised the pizza was not nice and that I did not want to pay for it .

The manager attended table and handled the matter well which was a reasonable save and why I have not naked lower!
I had a surprisingly good experience when I popped in for a salad one night after work. Being part of a franchise I knew what to expect of the food quality but the service blew me away. From the manager / hostess to the waitress serving us. We'll done guys.

Crostini with Primi Hummus... Don't think they put tahini in their hummus and it's rather chunky instead of smooth.. If you're a garlic lover this starter is for you!

We all know Primi. Consistent and always a winner for an easy pizza or pasta. The Jamaican Jerk wings are a gem and worth a try. Still hunting for the Margherita Pizza...Primi is in the top 10.

Primi's food never changes. I am always happy by their standard of food. Each dish you try is great and some surpass the others. Primi is a great choice for families.

A very relaxed open floor on the ourdoor patio nearest the Canal. The Pizza and Pasta was the favorite for the day.
Trecarni ( alotta meat )pizza was delicious , unfortunately didn't ask if they could make it on a thicker base. ( note to self ).
The good company had the Pollo Giorgio. Well rounded pasta with Napoletana sauce. Overall ok service.

Really nice spiedini filleto and great service from andra and kevin #frequenteater
And I am back again and still love the place. Tonight was the primi calzone- a folded pizza with a difference. Andra tells me to look out for some new menu items. I will certainly be back for those.

The customer service is very bad at the canal walk branch. I was not impressed. We orderd our food and ended up waiting for over an hour. When we complained the waiter and the manager on duty was extremely unhelpful and not interested in assisting nor did they want to listen to the complaint.

I have not gone back to that restaurant to this day nor do I intend to ever go back there again.

Primi is always great - portion size, meals, service - always consistently good. Pasta portions are particularly generous, with pasta always well cooked with the correct portion of sauce. Good value for money - especially when consistency is guaranteed. It’s one of the few chain restaurants I will happily support.
