Review Limnos Bakers - Century City

Kelly Rossouw
Excellent service. Recently ordered 200 for a function and got very quick feedback and they were extremely respectful and professional. Dealt with Prince. Would highly recommend him. Another comment mentioned the softness, I agree that they are soft, however I feel this makes them easier (and less messy) to eat. Not to mention the flavours are incredible. They aren't overly sweet so you can have more than one and not feel like you have just eaten a bag of sugar. They will definitely see my money again.

Some of the best macaroons I've ever had, chewy on the inside with delicious fillings. Their milkshakes are amazing too! Decadent and well worth the money spent.
Yasmeen Hendricks
If you haven't tried it I suggest you do. We've been going to yummi for years and quality has still remained the same. Variety of desserts and macarons available. The milkshakes are a must and there is coffee for those who prefer something warmer. Definitely recommend. Edit: so sad unfortunately this branch has closed down

Really amazing service, outgoing and welcoming, oh and good coffee too . Over all an awesome experience !!!

Such a hidden treasure. Coincidentally walked past there and ended up buying amazing macarons. The people were so friendly too! My fav macaron store from now on.

I have been on a quest to find the best Macaroons...I believe my quest is complete. Great flavours, perfect texture...
Alexander R.
Best macaroons I have ever (ever!) tasted. Enough said. (Good coffee too).
CARLO HENDRICKS
Honestly, this place makes the BEST macaroons! The chocolate brownies are simply amazing as well!

Great take out foods. This is COVID lockdown. I am shocked that on two separate visits I find the same person serving at the counter not properly wearing her face mask. On both occasions I had to ask her to wear her mask. And both times she was disgruntled that I did so. I regularly walk past and her mask is on her chin whilst serving. Stay away.

The most disgusting so-called Hazelnut cake and Fudge chocolate cake!!! Layers of triffle spunge and flavoured cream, and to top it all - the rolls of chocolate on top are raw baking chocolate!!! Cannot believe that Limnos stock this, AND charge R35 per slice!!!! Will never support your brand again, not sure what's going on with your strategy here

Don’t waste your time, there are way better cake shops elsewhere 🙅🏾‍♀️

I really wanted to try this place since moving to Cape Town but I was so disappointed. The staff are rude and unhelpful. The desserts are small, dry and too expensive. We had the cream donut, the chocolate baklava, almond baklava and the lemon cheesecake. The latter had a minuscule amount of lemon curd in the middle of the whole cake so if you buy a slice you’re only going to get about 1/10 🙄. The chocolate baklava was the best tasting but I wish it had more syrup on top like its traditional counterpart.

It’s a really pretty shop but unfortunately I won’t be back voluntarily.

Current rating is of 3.2 is really not a true reflection of this establishments standards. Best milktart in the country and all other confectionary of a sublime quality

Always love limnos for tea, a treat or a toasted sandwhich. Do not like being squashed next to other people, the larger one is in Green Point. They make the cutest glitter cupcakes
Johanna Marie Paderes
Ordered one of their best sellers: a slice of Fabiola* and that was really good. Very creamy, right amount of sugar, not too sweet. I would highly recommend that. Also ordered the *baclava? I think it's called. That was more on the sweeter and crunchier side, it had too much syrup in it though but overall quite tasty. Service was good and staff was friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable on all their pastries.

Great spot to take a break from shopping with a nice cafe meal / sweet treat and lovely hot cappuccino.
My go-to meal is always their tramazini's and I have yet to be dissapointed by them.

If you are ever in the mood for dessert, but want something light and refreshing - please do me a flavour and have a slice of the Fabiola from Limnos. It's a yummy stack of milk tart, custard, piled with whipped cream and topped with crushed choux pastry. Its one of my favorites and It's amazing!

The service at this branch is quick, friendly and efficient. My slice of Fabiola was fresh and up to standard.

This bakery looks so pretty from the outside that you can't help being drawn to it. This branch is much bigger than the Claremont branch. We like to pick up some cakes from here to take home. Love the macarons, chocolate eclairs and mini chocolate cakes.

We went here for coffee and cake and our entire experience was very underwhelming. This place is always very busy, but we were surprised to experience how poor the service is. On arrival there is no system indicating how ordering works.

We wanted to sit down and relax, we ordered from the counter and proceeded to go sit. The energy of the staff helping at the counter was extremely low and uninviting. We proceeded to sit down and waited about 3 minutes before our waiter arrived and offered to serve us. Upon arrival our waitron also had no idea what we ordered and I had to get up and go point to her at the counter what we ordered. At this point I was very frustrated.

We didn't finish our cake and left straight after our coffees were done, really surprised to see how busy this place is given the poor service you receive.

Never again!

This branch was renovated recently and has a modern feel to it. The staff is friendly. We usually just buy cakes and pastries to go.

The pecan nut tart is divine and my favorite!
Andrea Lauren Kraak
I love cake ! Cake is such a feel good pleasure. I am however not a fan of Limnos. I don't understand, they just don't seem to get the cake right for me. I love moist cakes that melt in your mouth and Limnos' doesn't do that. I tried their cups this time and it also seriously lacked in flavour and that feel good vibe. And their cakes and desserts are so beautiful, one would think....... I also had a latte, which was so strong I had to ask for extra milk. Sad cake lover 🙁
Brendp51
Great food, very chilled an whimsical vibe. Personally recommend the Chocolate Cheesecake! Quite wide variety of products. Already a regular!

Best black forest cake in Cape Town, have to order the cake in advance to avoid disappointment, we had the milk tart with slices of cheesecake, simply delicious...

Didn't get a chance to buy anything because the sales lady after ignoring us for a few minutes was atrociously rude. And when we requested to speak to the manager she shrugged and said she didn't care!!! And the manager went on to ignore us!!!! Horrible service. Now we Will never know how good or bad the cakes are!!!!!
Sara
We often come to this branch for a toastie or quiche. I'm a huge fan of their spinach quiche and the service at this branch is very good in comparison to some of the others I've been to.

Limnos makes the best pies I have ever tasted. Real meat and delicious filling. Really good pastry too. Only advice is have a better take away cup. Ordered a take away iced coffee (priced at 36 rand) and it came in a small coffee cup. So after requesting a straw I removed the lid and drank it like that.

The eclairs were delicious... fresh and really creamy.

I used Limnos to deliver cakes to a customer of mine in Century City. I called them from my London office, ran through a very simple ordering process, made payment and the cakes were delivered with a smile within 15 minutes.Excellent service and the cakes were enjoyed by all.We will 100% be using them again!

Now this review isn't on a cup of coffee. But I do have an interesting adventure with them.

What saves this place is the cheesecakes and pastries. The chocolate brownie cheesecake is my favorite. But give the sandwiches a miss.

I ordered a roast beef tramazini with English mustard. Now English mustard is hot so we all know to us it sparingly. There was so much mustard on the sandwich I could smell the perfume of any person who walked outside the shop. I dared the waitress to get the person who made it to eat it.

Manager offered for free but the kitchen staff need to understand their ingredients.

Was craving a apple Danish ,my favourite pastry, only problem was that I don't eat raisins. I explicitly asked if there was raisins in it and she said no but there were so I wasn't able to enjoy it😞. She was really sweet though and offered to replace it with something else I can't remember her name but she should be employee of the month!

This little shop brought a smile to my face the moment I saw it. I liked the cute pink theme and gorgeous display of all things naughty and nice. The seating is too cramped and tables too small to enjoy a meal if you’re in a bad mood, luckily I was in a very good mood and decided order their custard croissant, only to chase down the poor waitress and cancel my order for the Ham & Cheese Croissant with Tea for R45 instead. It would be a travesty to only visit this place once, there are too many tasty treats to try, hence my indecision.

The ham and cheese croissant was very delicious. The teapot was chipped so that’s not too impressive. Leanne had a simple egg and bacon breakfast special with a coffee and gave two thumbs up.
Simone Hasselbach
I must admit that i like to just window shop at this branch. Their display is really eye-catching. Much smaller than the other branches but that being said - the service us much better here and the cakes are always fresh and super delish!
Sumendra Chetty
Been to Limnos quite a few times to pick up a quick treat- the macaroons and pastries are delicious and fresh. We sat down for breakfast and were a tad disappointed. The savory food is definitely not as good as the pastries.

Limnos has amazing, beautifully crafted cakes and macarons. I love their white chocolate mousse cake! Unfortunately, I feel like the Century City branch is very unconcerned with keeping the goodies fresh and neat.

My chocolate cake was a little dry, which I'm not used to when I buy from Limnos generally. Also, the service feels a bit weird and lackluster lately; it's almost like you're visiting a McDonalds for cake! Time to up the ante, eh Limnos?
Jua-Mari Strehler
I've always loved coming to Limnos for their beautiful cakes, and I don't think the coffee is too bad. The one thing that really takes away from the experience is the lackluster service and the confusion in ordering a piece of cake when you're a sitting down customer. They can definitely do better. We didn't get the cake we ordered. Having said that we didn't complain, and the piece of cake we got was great.
Emma Bowen
We had to wait half an hour for two lots of pancakes and a chicken schnitzel. To be fair the restaurant was packed and it was lunchtime but the service was terribly slow.
The schnitzel looked old and was expensive. The pancakes came with a whole lot of cinnamon and little sugar. Not too impressed
Kelly Chandrapaul
The cakes look nicer than they taste. The chocolate flavoured things taste artificial and the crust of the fruit tart I had was hard. Flavoured latte was too sweet. I had been to the branch in the sea point area and it is way better in terms of quality.
Charné Banger
It looks like a beautiful french bakery from the outside with treats displayed in the window, but looks can be deceiving. All Limnos' items just aren't up to par with some amazing bakeries found in Cape Town. Sure they look good but the taste isn't there. They're alright at best.

Also bad idea if you're going there for breakfast or lunch. The tables are too close for comfort especially if you're sitting close to the cakes/cheese cakes because everyone ordering take away walks by there. Sometimes the tables aren't clean which can be off-putting.

Limnos Canal Walk is intimate but lovely! The window walking past is tempting enough but going in there is a treat in itself. I had a cappuccino cake with a warm, hug-in-a-cup cappuccino and my friend had a very generous custard slice. This little coffee shop will definitely see us again.
Candice
Decadent cakes ! Food isn't too bad either ... Fabiola flan is one of my absolute favorites. EVERYONE SHOULD try it ... Heaven!!! :-) Friendly staff too .
Simone
Popped in for a quick supper while shopping. Since it was fairly quiet, we didn't the experience the crowded tables as stated by other reviewers but I could see how that could happen when they are busy as the space is really small. We had a cheese burger and a smoked salmon wrap. My fiance's burger was was ok, not terrible but not mind blowing. My salmon wrap was really good and they didn't skimp on the salmon. I would just have it with a salad instead of chips if I ever did eat there again, the chips were a bit too oily. The prices are good for the quality of food. All in all not bad for a light meal

I love Limno's baked goods, but I don't like this venue so much for sit down meal. It is very small and tables feel on top of each other, and the tables were dirty.

They also had no honey for the red cappuccino and hubby's cappuccino tasted like the beans were burned.

The food is good value for money though. They didn't have loads of stock left, at first they didn't have smoked chicken and then they did have one portion left for my salad.

The breakfast looked good though and hubby's egg, cheese and bacon sandwich was delicious.

The food was good but the overall experience a bit disappointing.

I don't really eat here when I crave sweet delights. However I absolutely love cupcakes and today I had a craving so I bought a cupcake from here and I was not impressed. If was too sweet. However in the past I have tried from there other goodies and I have enjoyed them

This is such a divine bakery and although I must admit that I won't actively go sit down for a coffee date, there are two delicious items you must try! #1 two Danishes for R15 & #2 the hazelnut cream cake! Do yourself a favor! 😊

Met up with a friend at Limnos for some brunch today. We both had the french toast which is served with bacon, cheese, honey and jam. It's conveniet if your shopping and their selection of cakes and treats all looked absolutely devine (pity that I was too full to try anything). The shop is rather small so sat very close to the people next to us that it felt like we were sharing a table, but wasn't a major issue.

I would like to know if you say that the cakes are halaal and some contain alcohol how can you make a statement that the certain cakes is halaal because surely the bakery use the very same equipment for all the cakes.

I have the biggest sweet tooth and Limnos never disappoints. We popped in for a quick spot of tea and some scones and eclairs. As always the staff were chatty and friendly and the cakes fresh and delicious

Great meals and friendly staff. Store is too small though, often not enough seats and not enough waiters. Especially during lunch hour. Well worth the visit though.
Jess Styles
Everyone goes to Limnos for their cakes and desserts but they have really great savoury options too. I had the bacon, avo and feta tramezzini, which was absolutely delicious. The cafe is very small and does feel very crowded but it's great for a quick mid shop break!

Its almost impossible not to be hooked in by the amazing window display of patisserie of Limnos Century City. Both a visual and a oral feast.
Probably one of the best places for quiches and pies and so reasonably priced.
The menu offers light meals but boasts an adequate and diverse range of choices.
An excellent choice of venue for breakfast lunch and tea.
The food is always fresh and beautifully presented and the service always good.
Being a place that I regularly frequent I can say in all honesty that the standard and quality is always high and constant.
The choices of cakes in the display unit are quite overwhelming. They all look very rich. As a cake lover I have never been drawn to ordering a slice here for this reason.
The one drawback of the place is that the tables are terribly close together. There is no privacy at all. Not ideal for business meetings or any intimate conversations. One feels as though the people at the surrounding tables are part of one's company. I find this quite invasive. As the tables are placed so close together it is understood that the design calls for high turnaround of clients.
It is certainly a place that doesn't disappoint and one that I can highly recommend.

You can never go wrong with limnos bakery. The chocolate cakes, fruit cocktail, etc undoubtedly are the signature products of limnos. However make no mistakes about other products like brownies, pies, baklavas Etc, they all are top notch. A big Thumbs Up !!!
