Review Brick Lane Eatery - Century City

Tannith Heuer
Very good food and good music. Atmosphere is nice too. Above all, had Jamal as a waiter, and he was the absolute best waiter I have had at any restaurant. He was truly amazing. Will come back just for him. The chef, Thuli, never disappoints.

Great atmosphere. We had burgers which were very tasty but the strawberry milkshake wasn't great - overly sweet and no ice cream. A bit slow today (waited 40 minuntes for our burgers) but they were very busy for a Sunday afternoon.

I recently dined at Brick Lane Eatery, and I was thoroughly impressed. The food portions were generous, and the prices are reasonable. Their lemonade is simply the best, and the overall taste of the food was exceptional. It's definitely become one of my favorite brunch spots.

Went there for lunch on 28 April 2023. Saw this place by accident and wanted to grab a quick lunch before our appointment at 2pm. Friendly staff. We opted to sit outside when we got there but it was windy so we asked whether we could sit inside. Inside was nice and warm and we had a seat upstairs. When our food came, it was a surprisingly huge portion. I'd definitely recommend this place. Do note that the noise levels downstairs travels upstairs but it's still a great vibe. Lots of seating available too. I had the chicken salad and my boyfriend had a smoked salmon poké bowl. The food was very filling. The place filled up real fast with people.

Tucked away alongside the century city quay. Broad menu with lovely baked goods on offer. They even have a doggy menu. Staff are attentive & friendly. It can get quite loud in there so not ideal for meetings.
Annemarie Hedenskog
We had tapas and wine. The chilli poppers and calamari were first classic. Ordered Chardonnay, but according to waiter none available. A bit of training needed here, as there was. We loved the laid back atmosphere and settled for a bottle of Springfield. Take away chocolate cake was devoured.

Always a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Excellent food on their vast menu, definitely something for everyone here. Amazing atmosphere and surroundings make for a perfect little spot for any occasion. We can definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a great outing and yummy food.

The atmosphere, service, and food were really good. The waiters were attentive, and Jamal especially was great. We happened to have dinner on quiz night, and overhearing that has me halfway to convinced I should grab some friends and enter the next one. The prices here are very reasonable, especially considering how delicious and well presented the food was.

Popped in for some Eggs Benedict on a peaceful day and got excellent eggs benny and service too. Staff are a delight and the restaurant is set in a serene location. They serve alcohol and dinner too, but close around 21.00. Good menu with vegetarian options too..

This place is a dichotomy. I believe all the negative reviews it has gotten because I experienced the inhospitable culture first hand. We walked in at 20:10, and waited to be seated at the door. One of two waiter we walked passed outside stops chatting about and rushes in to act like he will serve us. I say act, because he immediately said: the kitchen closes in 5 minutes and all patrons need to be out of the restaurant at 20:45. By my count, he said this 4 times while arguing with me when I said the right order of doing things would be to welcome us, offer us seating and then tell us this, instead of standing in front of us saying all patrons need to be out at 20:45 over and over again like a school teacher. Why I call it an inhospitable culture is because his pal from outside walks in and while not directly talking to us shouts "did you tell them we close at 20:45?" as he goes to the kitchen. Fast forward the evening, we stayed for dinner. The burgers were amazing. Perfect cook on the patties, great vision for flavour. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. My review of this place is that the food is worth it. However, come with a thick skin - there is a 50/50 chance you'll get a bad attitude from the waiters but the food will be on point!

Friendly service with vibey feel. Energetic people. The owner is super involved and friendly, loves hugs and chats. My kind of place and people. The music adds to the vibrant mood.

Lovely vibe...friendly staff... food good... when the sun sets out come the blankets and heaters..... Great specials... Will definitely go back.
Lethia Searle
Lovely staff with great food. Great vibe and will definitely go back.

Service wasn’t great but was quickly fixed by the managers. The managers were super vigilant and made us feel incredibly comfortable. Looking forward to making this a regular spot. The blankets and heaters are a plus for the chilly nights approaching.

So nice to see Brick Lane Eatery making a delicious comeback under new management, yay! Warm, welcome atmosphere, good service and a tasty menu. The roaring fireplace is an absolute win in this cold weather. Well done!

Tastiest Burger in a long time and washed down with a Striped Horse Lager ..Life is good :)

Amazing food and service

My first time yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The waiter was very accommodating and the food was flavourful. It's a bit hidden, but I like it that way. It's almost as a little "escape" from the hussle & bussle of life. Will definitely be back.

Interesting spot hidden behind the buildings of Century City overlooking the water. We went on a Thursday night when there was live music so the vibe was good. I had the chicken nacho's which was very tasty. The booze prices (wine & spirits) seemed a bit above the normal price to me. The coffee was very good. They have a surprisingly extensive menu and the waiters were friendly. The big basket with blankets, the board games and fire place are great additions. Will go back in the summer time.

Great breakfast and friendly service👍

We had the smash n go and a delicious toastie. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick brekkie after the Park Run!
Riaan Anker
I visited this venue with colleagues on Friday for lunch and drinks.

The welcoming was the normal .. food was good. The only complaint I have is that there was only one waiter and we waited quite long for our food.
Paul Kerr-greenfield
Im totally gutted that i have just found this place 2 days before my holiday ends. Last night we had wings, chilli poppers and drinks and could not fault anything, the service, food and atmosphere was perfect and so too is the location.
Having breakfast now and again nothing has changed its so spot on, its a pity we have missed this little gem for so long.
Mushahida
Shocking service. Booked a special breakfast for 9 people including guests from overseas. Waited for an hour and a half for our food. When food eventually arrived it was cold. Not everyone got their food at the same time. Some people were done eating before others’ food even arrived. Manager made lots of excuses and took food back but didn’t solve the problem. Blamed her kitchen staff which I thought was really unprofessional.

Visited on Saturday for breakfast after park run great value and enjoyed breakfast. Went back Monday for burger special great burger, cold beer, nice vibe and very friendly staff. Will be back for live music night.
Such a quaint well hidden restaurant. In fact it is such a pity that more people don't know about it. Service is friendly and food delicious. Good coffee too! Will definitely be back.

Why has it taken me so long to visit this place?? It’s a beautiful restaurant situated on the Quays waters edge. It has indoor and outdoor seating with shaded areas and a kids play area. The service was fast. The menu options are quite varied. I particularly like that they have a a few veg options including a veggie burger and milk alternatives (almond milk). This day we were there for breakfast so I had the croissant french toast with nutella and banana - this was a very good portion size and had ample nutella and a sweet caramelised banana. My friend had the brick lane stack which was quite a big portion and looked yummy. She had the hazelnut latte which I tasted and is a bit too sweet for me. I had the chai latte which was good. Both arrived at perfect drinking temperature. This place has a really great atmosphere and I will definitely be back 👍🏾👍🏾

Went here last night to listen to some tunes and have dinner.
I had the nachos which was really nice and hubby had the chicken liver pasta which was excellent! All in all a lovely experience. New owners were hands on. And they are now pet friendly and even sell doggie ice cream which will keep your pooch happy throughout your meal. Lovely setting.

I’m all for not cleaning dishes but when being served food on a cutting board? Make sure that the cutting board is covered with some paper or something? I don’t enjoy seeing grooves for potential germs to brew. The food was amazing though as well as the milkshake. My boyfriend and I ended up having the chicken schnitzel and it was truly amazing! The portions aren’t that generous though but will definitely be back. Thanks fo the WiFi too!
Calvin Board

Love this spot for a casual drink and some nachos after work - the service is great and the nachos are delicious - what more could you want? Tip: it’s also a great spot for a sunny day in winter - try get a table outside/upstairs on the deck.

Dissatisfied. Food terrible. Microwaved short rib, soggy fries and no taste. Other much better restaurants in Century City. Sadly I have no reason to return.
Jenny Daniels
Found this place through entertainer. The place end looks amazing with a view of the lake. The ribs are definitely a must try. Can't wait to try their burgers.
Yrina Pustella
I took my girlfriend here as a surprise coz I discovered this place thru zomato and looked very nice with the mini lake next to it.

The comments were not breathtaking but I thought I should give it a try, because why not.

When we got there was a beautiful sunny morning, very relaxing vibe, away from the road so you could definitely get relaxed while drinking a coffee and maybe get something to eat while listening the water falling down to a little bridge they had.

We got really good service compared to what the comments mentioned, maybe I was lucky who knows.

◾The food was delicious, they had different options of fries we could choose from and the sandwiches are a must try, big portions compare to what you pay.

◾ The coffee I would say was average.

Definitely coming back and hopefully it keeps on improving the small details and not disappoint their customers and chase away the new ones.
Rafiqua Israel
Good and affordable meals. Would definitely recommend them as a lunch time spot. Their wraps and burgers are good. Their nachos are too tomatoey and the pie is good too. Quick and friendly service
Kaylin Shapiro
Love this hidden gem! So well priced and beautifully done interior. Waitron was super friendly and helpful. Def my new spot! Can’t wait for more brekkies here. X

We decided to try this restaurant as there was an Entertainer voucher for it.
The location is beautiful and sitting outside would have been great but it was too windy. This wasn't too big of an issue as the inside was lovely too.

The waiter/barman was incredibly friendly and helpful. However service was a bit slow as there were only 2 waitrons. Our waiter kept us in the loop though and told us upfront that meals would take about 30 minutes.

They also had a 2 for 1 beer special on that particular day which helped.

Food was tasty. We had quite simple meals which we enjoyed.
Jaqi Devitt
Sometimes you just have to keep it simple!
.
Not sure if it’s just me feeling like the new year crept up on me, but I went from “oh I need to do my Christmas shopping” straight in to “Who drank all the champs and gin and ate their way through the contents of our pantry?!” (Insert face of indignation here). Only to realize it was us!....and it’s suddenly 2018 so time to get back on track! 😱
.
Not a bad start with a morning SUP session, followed by a light lunch at @bricklaneeatery. This little gem is neatly tucked away between business premises on the water in century city, and well worth the visit! Although the gluten free options aren’t many, the team are eager to jump in and assist with food replacements to accommodate. I settled on a light salmon salad with fresh greens and a gluten friendly dressing. Topped of with a Long Island iced tea (cause I am still on holiday). And to our delight the @entertainerza App once again came in handy!
.
If you find yourself in the Century City area, do make a point of trying out the friendly service and great value for money meals at Brick Lane Eatery.
.
#food #lunch #lunchtime #foodporn #fresh #healthyfood #gettingthere #healthy #healthychoices #lunch #summer #me #glutenfree #allergyfriendly #jaqionthego #centurycity #capetown#restaurants #eating #whenincpt

Great services and great food. Perfect place if you want to be away from all the hussle and bustle, away deom all the noise, juat peaceful and overlooking the river.

Was there last night and have been there three times all their meals are fresh and delish. From their burgers right through to their calamari such a treat. Its very cosy and very friendly staff. Will definitely be back soon
SquatForPancakes
Had brekkie with a my friend here.

The place was super cold, but they were nice enough to close the door for me. I ordered a black Americano since they didn't have almond milk. I really do recommend getting some almond milk and soy milk since there are many people who have intolerances.

I had the DIY breakfast and it was amazing! It worked out about R75 for a large plate of food. The avo was huge and the eggs poached to perfection. My friend had the Eggs Benedict and she really enjoyed it.

I'll be back soon for some more brekkie!
Emma Liversage
The food is delicious! I order from them often. My favourite is their chicken mayo toastie and their strawberry fruit shake. Delicious. They guys there also always deliver to us directly to our office and we don't have to wait long. The waiters there are all really nice people.
Lucinda Villain
Conveniently close to home and perfect for a quick bite and chilled afternoon. Consistently good service and food. At our last visit hubby had the beef burger who can compete with any gourmet burger joint; and I had the steak wrap with sweet potato wedges. Big portions and great value for money.
Tarah Cupido
Absolutely amazing food. Ordered a table for 14 and they situated us upstairs. What a stunning view. I feel there service was a tad bit slow but maybe because we where lots of people. Was otherwise amazing ❤

Wanted to visit today. Phone a few times to check if they are open etc. no answer after 5 attempts... so decided not to go. Highly disappointed as I have been waiting a while to try Brick Lane and this was the ideal opportunity

30 Aug 2017: finally visited Brick Lane today and highly disappointed. Walked in and no one offered to help us. Went to go sit upstairs and waited very long to finally be asked to order. Then waited very long for coffees to arrive. My mom's cup was chipped and mine was dirty.

We ordered the bacon, avo, mozzarella sandwich and I had to repeat that it must be on rye bread since the waiter didn't have much of an idea of what he was doing..
sandwich arrived on a dirty, old wooden board (only paper on the side the chips was on). The sandwich had actual wool dust or something on it as though the toaster wasn't clean or the cloth used to wipe the board made little wool dust or something.. the bacon was mostly fat and the chips were very oily and soggy..

The only plus point was that there was green tabasco on the table. Even the table we sat at was unstable and the stairs that lead to the upstairs area are chipped and broken.
The kitchen staff were drinking coffee in the kitchen (I could see through the service window). All in all a very disappointing experience

where were you all of my life?

I love everything about this place . i could literally eat here every day
Your tapas are my favourite. The Ribs popcorn chicken pizza bread and risotto balls with sides of sweet potato chips ! amazing!!

This place is a hidden gem. It's down to earth, friendly, with great food, generous portions and good prices - and the best part is that very few people even know it exists. I've been twice now, and have left both times with a takeaway portion large enough for a second meal of delicious food. It's next to the water, so when the weather is good you can sit outside in the sunshine! Highly recommended!
Jomari Steyn
Such a hidden gem in Century City!! Had the peanut brittle milkshake and my husband had a chocolate milkshake! I had Nachos with chicken, absolutely amazing!! My husband had the chillie popper burger, also a must have!*

My initial review for Brick Lane was 3.5 and I do get breakfast here regularly...

Last week I ordered my usual bacon, mushroom and cheddar omelette which used to cost me R60. They have now changed the menu and priced the items individually so it now costs me R85 for the same omelette. I understand prices must increase as their costs increase, but this feels a bit steep. None the less I enjoy the meal and would gladly pay the price for a quality meal.

However when I ordered this last week I was very disappointed. There wasn't much filling to speak of especially cheese... I have never had an omelette with such a little cheese before. It left the omelette very dry. I hope this was just a once off and not the new standard at Brick Lane

Came here for breakfast with friends. Hidden away in Century City we found such a nice little eatery. We got a table on the first floor with a nice view over the water.
Food was very nice. Had the deep fried poached egg, which was very nice. Coffee also good.
If I have to complain about something, I would have to say that the food lacked a bit of salt and that the egg was over cooked.

I would however definitely give this place another go.
Llew Adamson
What started out strong has started to disappoint. The service has degraded to the point of frustration and the overall quality has taken a dive as well. Time to re-invent.
Lee-Or Brittz
Slow service, over 1h30 Min to get food, smallest steak I have ever seen, beer battered fish filled with curry and bones. Pepper sauce filled with whole peppercorns. Fish batter hiding amoung sweet potato chips. Overall, severely disappointing and will never visit again. Specifically installed the app just to make this post.
Elan Davidson
Highly disappointed with the fish that I ordered. The portion was small for the price and there were a lot of bones. Menu stated beer battered fish, yet it was covered in curry powder. Would not recommend this restaurant for anything other than the burgers (which my fiancé had and highly recommends)
Wanderlust Coffee
This little place is hidden between apartment but I'm so happy we found it.

The service was very good. The lady who served us was sincere and friendly.

The place itself is minimalistic but lovely. The view is pretty as it's next to a lake.

The food was very good! The presentation, as well as the taste. I can't wait to go again. The prices are cheap for what you get. It's a big sandwich and fries. They have different bread options (white, wholewheat, rye) and also sides (potato fries, sweet potato fries or a salad).
Michelle Cleo Pfeiffer
Really great cosy vibe for winter or summer day. Also great for a date or just chilling with friends. Friendly staff. And good food that is cost efficient. Thanks!
Monica Fernandes
This eatery is quite hidden away but when you find it you will see it is located in a beautiful area. I found their food to be really well priced but unfortunately service is slow. I feel that we possibly came on the wrong day, as all (two) of the waitors attention seemed to be solely focused on the table of 16 that was upstairs. It got to a point where our drinks were sitting on the bar for so long that we had to get up to fetch it ourselves. The food was quite good however. It was a pity that it had to be sent back the first time around due to my friends burger being raw and my bacon completely undercooked, but when it came back we were very happy. The manager also handled the situation in a very kind manner which we really appreciated.
I ordered the beef burger topped with mozarella, bacon and a zingy jalapeño popper with a side of chips. For the price it was very much worth it. I also had a try of the sweet potato wedges which where fresh and tasty.
I would like to try them again perhaps for lunch or breakfast when they aren't so busy as the rest of the menu sounds quite appetising and the setting is enjoyable.
Justine McEvoy
Lovely little spot ! I had the avo, bacon and mozzarella sandwich, really yum! The service was decent and the food is well priced ! Will definitely be back again!
Natalie
Nice quiet Saturday lunch.
We tried the baggette and sadly the steak was a bit tougher than we had hoped and was rather chewy.
Also gave the chicken schnitzel a go and that was amazing!
The service was really good and the waitress we had was super friendly - just a little bleek about the steak
Sarah
Wow! The food was amazing! Some of the best calamari I've ever had. The baguettes was also very good. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Nice and cozy place with a fireplace for the winter. Would definitely recommend it!
Dylan Thomas
Had a toasted bacon mozzarella and avocado sandwich, which was passable. Quite sparsely filled, but the bacon was nice. The chips that came with it were quite raw, much like eating chunks of apple. Ended up throwing them away.

Dashan Velayudan
Food was average. Service was decent. Until one of the customers had a loud argument on downstairs on the restaurant phone which management didn't feel the need to stop
Samantha
This is a favorite of ours for Sunday breakfast/lunch. The food never disappoints and the portion sizes are always more than enough. The coffee is great too!

Lovely setting for a sunny day!
Jared Shapiro
I had the calamari with a dipping trio and sweet potato wedges and chili poppers. The calamari wasn't great as it was too oily and the dipping trio was very disappointing. The flavors were extremely rich and left a lot to be desired. The chili poppers were atrocious. The batter didn't stick to the chili and the filling wasn't particularly enjoyable. They were small and they only gave two poppers for around R35. It's a pity the calamari and chili poppers were so bad, because the sweet potato wedges were some of the best I've ever had. Wouldn't go back to eat there anytime soon.

What a joy to find a lekker spot so close to home. It wasn't as busy as one would expect but I suppose being surrounded by offices means quieter weekends...no complaints from my side though, the service was quick, food was good and they do happy hour from 5 - 7 {all beers on tap 1/2 price}.
I had the Popper Burger...that's a beef burger topped with bacon, mozzarella AND a jalapeno popper on a fresh tasty bun. Leave the bun if you're doing low carb and have a side salad {I did not do this, but you could, but I won't}.
The calamari mains was a'ight. The portion was a bit small as well as the actual calamari tube {more tapas like} however, they were tender with a good crispy batter and came with a trio of sauces {albeit tartre was not one of them} ...these, among a few other reasons is why I only eat seafood at seafood restaurants {if ever, I'm a red meat & red wine kinda gal...I don't trust white-meat-only eaters, they're not happy people & tend to complain a lot & would most likely murder you too...and take your life insurance money}
Anyhoo, I digress, brick Lane Eatery serves up select craft beers like my fave CBC Amber Weiss as well as some decent cocktails.
This could become a usual spot for me {between 5 - 7 no doubt}...the view ain't half bad either.
Kirsti Smit
Food was good, service was very slow. Waited very long for food to come out. The staff were unfriendly and felt like we were rushed to leave because they wanted to close. The bar also closed at around 20:00 which makes no sense for a restaurant that serves dinner....
Grace Debeila
I have been living in Century City for 4 years now.
Bricklane Eatery opened about 3 years ago, and I have only been there 6 times since... usually not on my recommendation.

The food is fresh and well-presented.
The decor is great - fits in well with its location in a hip, trendy suburb. Anywhere you sit, there is enough natural light coming in - both upstairs and downstairs. And I have enjoyed a glass of wine on the outdoor seating area on a hot day.

The problem is the service.
It is friendly enough, but lacks efficiency.
I have waited more than 40 minutes for a wrap on a quiet Saturday morning after gym.
Too often, we have tried to order something off the menu that wasn't available. I mean, how do you run out of spinach to make your signature potato rosti (this is my favourite item on their menu)? How do you run out of the only type of white wine served by the glass on your menu?

Such annoyances leave me thinking I might as well have prepared and enjoyed a meal from my own kitchen just around the corner. And that's what I intend to do from now on.
Ryan Oberholzer
Waited 1 hour to be told that our salad, they didn't have avo. The restaurant was not busy and there was no reason for the massive delay. Won't be coming back.
Chantelle Lamusse
This is my regular stop for a red cappachino during work or the place if in need of food for lunch;)

It really is situated in a place I don't think many people know about ;) or at least people not from the area. None the less next to the pond with a boat in sand as decor it really makes you chill out.

Having been here numerous times I do love it but I find their service inconsistent mostly. Depending on if the manager is there or not the service varied.

I have been served by the manager and he is so friendly and helpful and then other times I think the place gets too busy for the number of staff to assist quickly.

The food is great and ingredients are quality so I will keep on coming back. Just quicker service always would be awesome ;) but I understand ..
John Brand
What a great, really relaxed venue by the canal. Breakfast and coffe were both tasty. Probably the best value for money around. Now just add freshly squeezed juice plus a veggie burger option and it'll be even better.
Carlétjie Van Eck
Little gem hidden away in the heart of Century City. Had breakfast here - the deep fried, crumbed poached egg is to die for! Love this place and wpuld gladly reccomend it to anyone. The serice was great and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Emmerentia Du Plessis
Thursday-after-work-get-together
+ craft beer happy hour between 5 and 7pm
+ lovely scenery and views
+ good value for money (apply to main meals more than the starters)
+ tasty burgers and nachos
- the service at the end was lacking, the get bill, pay bill process took more than 30 minutes when our waitress disappeared downstairs
-hard to find (probably makes for a hidden gem, a local watering hole)
Ulisha Moodley
Tried out brick lane eatery for lunch yesterday. Their calamari really hit the spot. I was so hungry that I forgot to capture it! The chicken wrap and schnitzel were also good but the calamari was definitely the winner. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back😄
Lenita Johan
Had breakfast here. There's seating indoors, outdoor and upstairs overlooking the quay. The food was really good especially the brick lane speciality and brick lane stack. The eggs benedict was alright. Really good hollandaise sauce. The service was very very slow. We literally found our own seats, put up our own umbrellas and waited for more than an hour for our food. One of our friends even had to leave without having breakfast as he was getting late for another appointment. If they can pick up on the output of food and have someone greet you at the door and seat you down, I would have given them a 4.0. We might return to give them a second chance and try out their burgers.
Siyaxolisa Sindelo
Really wonderful place with people as equally as wonderful. The views are amazing so I would highly recommend it for that too plus they deliver so there's that.
Adrian Kaplan
THE SLOWEST SERVICE ON EARTH. Food is delicious but the service sucks! 20 mins for a cappuccino and ceylon tea to arrive. Then they still got it wrong and brought Rooibos tea. Again another 10min wait. Nobody checked on us and enquired how our meal was. I had the fish and chips and must say that it was delicious but it was a small portion with a handful of chips. My wife ordered the chicken schnitzel which was also really good. Such a beautiful setting and the food is great and well presented. Almost 10mins to wait for water and another 10 for the bill...We had to physically go and find a waiter! The service (or lack thereof) would make me think twice about coming back. Oh, and I must add that it was a quiet day...so no excuse!
Living It Up CT
Been here a few times, mainly for breakfast after doing a @parkrun. This casual spot is one of my faves. Awesome coffee, yummy food & friendly service. Plus a lovely view of the water if you sit outside or on the upstairs balcony. It's great for lunch & drinks too. Has a really cool, relaxed vibe. Eggs Benedict was so yum! Some unusual breakfast choices like crumbed, fried eggs. Haven't been for dinner. Paid for by ourselves. Will go back!
Janine Thomas
Went for a Saturday morning breakfast with the family. The food was lovely, although two out of the six meals were on the oily side. The service was a little slow but friendly. Really enjoyed the ambience, busy yet tranquil amongst the housing complex.
Tiara Jorissen
Such a great find overlooking the quays in a Beautiful setting. Unfortunately service was not great. No one to seat you and food took exactly an hour to reach us. The risotto balls were really nice and the tomato chutney is divine and compliments it perfectly! I tasted the nachos and they were also really nice. Such a pity about the service though.
Savanna
This perfect little restaurant is the perfect place to come with your family after a long day at work and have a treat or just with friends and have some good food and good company. You look over the canals with the decks swimming too. This restaurant has more than enough space and is very vibrant too. The service was a bit slow, but the food was very tasty and well presented!
Werner Grobler
What a lovely spot to treat someone special. It's slightly hidden away and this makes it a hidden gem. The service was superb and the food delicious. They also have a 50% off on Craft Beers between 5pm and 7pm. I would definitely recommend this for everyone that enjoys good food.
Nicol Miller
This cute spot is hidden between Century quays and businesses along Park Lane, nestled in between trees. After seeing some good reviews, we opted to try it out for lunch today. The loft building is minimal when it comes to decor, checkered floors, wooden finishes and a bicycle that hangs on the wall upstairs, with beautiful views of the canals. We opted to share tapas, but we were told they were out of stock of risotto balls and spring rolls( at 12pm), which I found quite strange. Anyway,we chose chicken popcorn, riblets, chicken wings, chilli poppers and the garlic, rosemary and mozzarella flat bread. Overall, I found the food quite underwhelming. Everything lacked abit of something especially basic seasoning. The ribs were not as saucy, the chilli poppers were over fried and the chicken wings, lacked flavour. Otherwise, the service was efficient and the view is beautiful.
Adrian De Graaf
Honestly having no clue what to expect this was a gamble that paid off! The décor is funky, with music to keep you in an upbeat mood. The food was very well portioned and tasted wonderful. As a burger and beer lover I was impressed with my burger and beer combo!
Elizma Nieuwoudt
What an excellent restaurant!! We've been here a few times and were amazed by the food quality every time! Good good at very good prices - what more could you ask for? The staff is friendly and efficient! We'll definitely be back!
Lindsey Rayner
What a little gem tucked away at the Quay in Century City (struggled to find it initially... thank you google maps). I visited for breakfast whilst staying at Waterstone Square during the December holidays. The eggs benedict was delish, eggs poached soft to perfection with a light and lemony hollandaise... just yum! The service was friendly and prompt (though it must be said... it was pretty quiet due to the holidays). I will definitely be coming back and recommend this eatery, especially when you a touch too lazy to be making it all from scratch! Happy Holidays!

Tranquil setting right next to the canal, pity about the shortage of umbrellas. Tapas took a while to get to the table but were really worth the wait. Salads and burgers that were ordered were delicious and are well worth the price. Definitely a place to visit if you aren't in a hurry and are looking for a relaxed dining experience.

First time here, sat outside, there was a shortage of umbrellas outside, really stunning setting on the canal
Food was really good aswell as the tapas

I've been wanting to try Brick Lane Eatery out for a while now and was pleasantly surprised when I did. Their menu looks amazing because they have such a wide variety of differnt food, more of which I would still like to try.

I had their caramelised onion, cheese and brown mushroom burger with the sweet potato fries. It was really good. I wouldn't say one of the best burgers I've had but an enjoyable chow down. And the service was excellent!! Pity they close at 21:00 in the evening though.

We got there at 7:55 thinking it was open at 7:00 but they told us because it was a public holiday it opens later, but on the website it did not say anything about that. Regardless we were 5min early but the waiter refused to even assist us, as we were about to walk away the barista then came out and said that we can order coffee in the mean time while we wait for them to finish setting up. We decided to order coffee while we wait as we were there already, once the coffee came we waited at least 20min before the waiter even brought us the menu. We ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon and the Bricklane stack, the food was disgusting, full of oil and cold especially the stack (do not order), we did not even get half way through the meals. The service and food was extremely bad, the waiter basically did not want us to be there and neither did the kitchen staff serving that kind of food! We will defiantly not go back there again!

Cool Restaurant in a residential spot, so they aren't open till late.
Had a Burger (bacon, cheese and too much avo) and chips, except for the old crusty bun the burger was really nice and the waitress was really friendly. and they aren't pricey compared to other places.

Got there at 8.50 am. Only ordered breakfast at 9.40 after asking three times for service. At 10.20 we left because they hadn't even started our order. Such a pity because the setting is delightful.

I'll be back for the view and the atmosphere, but not because of the food. We had a lovely, relaxing afternoon, seated outdoors with just the right amount of sun on our table, and a view of the water with its ducks going about their business.
I would recommend the sweet potato fries and the milkshakes, the rest needs some tweaking.
My burger didn't look anything like the picture with the black bun served on newspaper, however it was presented neatly on a wooden board with the avocado on the burger nicely cut and arranged. My pattie was on the dry side, and there was hardly any visible bacon. Despite this I wouldn't say it was bad.
The hake was good, but no tartar sauce on the side. Chicken schnitzel was also good, but the portion could have been bigger.
Service was excellent.

Service is terrible- took an hour for water! They got my order wrong and brought me something that wasn't even on the menu. They have too few waiters and when we informed the manager he could not care less. No food is worth this... So disappointed.
Rache De Goede
Small space and lacks a bit of atmosphere. Went there on the entertainer. Manager was nice enough to give us the burgers as a main course. Since were only allowed main course on the entertainer.
What a delicious burger we had! Try the jalepeno popper burger. Absolutely amazing.

Very Poor service, my waiter did not want to serve me lunch 10 min before 12. Poor organizational skills, My friend had to substitute her cheese sauce for her baguette because they were out buying it at canal walk. Lastly, I am unfortunately allergic to egg...brick lane failed to inform me on the menu that they put a sauce on the baguette which obviously contained egg :/ I had a very bad experience, the two I gave them does not even justify.

Horrible nonchalant staff and manager.... Ww had a booking for 12 people weeks in advance.
Upon arrival the mamager told us that the kitchen is already closed and they can not help us anymore.
After much discussion the manager said they will accommodate us if we order the food first and drinks later... After about 20 minutes the lady started to take orders, but guess what! Nothing was available, and she had to go back to the kitchen and find out which foods they can manage to servw us on this wonderful birthday celebration.
Twenty minutes later they informed us that we can have flat breads, frozen burgers or salad. Wow thanks to the manager that made NO effort to please us at all.

Hidden between apartments in Century City you find this little spot. At first we thought they were closed, because it was so quiet, but thankfully not.

We sat on the deck which offers a lovely view (see pic) and had a friendly waitress that gave us great service.

I had the bacon, feta and avo flat bread which I didn't even manage to eat half of. It was a tad bland, but generously topped. Very reasonably priced and a good choice to avoid the mall.

I had the nachos and they were kick ass. This is an awesome place and the manager Thabo is a cool guy. Will definitly return to try something else on the menu. Have a seat outdoors at a waterside table and enjoy the lovely weather.

The food at Brick Lane is always consistent.
I like it all of their offerings from the flat breads to the tapas to the breakfasts
One huge stand out for me is the sirloin steak salad
It is a bargain and they give you nice big chunks of medium rare sirloin with a super fresh salad.
Only thing that needs improved is their drinks menu, or lack of one rather. They've been opened up long enough now to at least have a wine list, it's always awkward ordering wine and not knowing what the price is or the waiter running to check behind the bar how much their recommendation is.

Beautiful open restaurant along the canals of Century City but not the most exciting breakfast menu .Had the DIY breakfast with rye, poached eggs and salmon. It was a pleasant meal but wouldn't go back in a hurry. On the upside the service was excellent.

Food took so long to be served
Went 2pm couldnt order anything including chicken as no chicken
After i paid another waitress ran after me outside asking did i pay or not

Brick Lane Eatery is our Friday get-together spot with colleagues before work. It is a lovely quaint little place situated in Century City overlooking the canal.

This is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their breakfasts are consistent and always good to enjoy. My favourite is their scrumptious eggs benedict - simply satisfying and flavoursome.

This place is trendy yet casual and a real gem in Century City.
Extremely poor service. Firstly, the waiter gave us menus and pointed us to our table - he did not seat us. After that, he took our drinks orders, brought the drinks and then took our main orders and I asked him to bring me an orange juice with our mains. The orange juice arrived about 10 minutes before the mains were served. On the good side, the food was tasty, Mbali ordered the beef ribs and could share them amongst the three of us. The deco and view is amazing and makes for a great lunch spot.

This is such a Cute, quaint & cosy spot! The Chai Pudding for Breakfast is so good and their flatbreads & Burgers are really tasty.

Found this small little gem hidden between the buildings of Century City in a lovely setting by a water feature. I ordered a bacon, popper and mozarella burger with extra avo. It was amazing!!! And the roasted veg as a side option was deliciously crispy. I will definitely return for more pleasurable food sensations.
Chloe
Went for lunch and had a truly delicious burger with sweet potato fries! I love the decor and the presentation. The view is beautiful and the service was good. The prices are good too. I will definately go back some time and try more of their food

Great little spot in a quiet area away from the busy mall. Nice views from the outside seating area, great for a chilled drink or to grab a quick bite. The service however was not great at all, we waited about 45minutes to get a coffee, no one had even come to take our order or check on us. It was however very busy, so that could be the reason for lack of service. If they sort that out this place would be amazing. Will be back to try the food sometime though. 🙂

This place is cool and seems to attract a lot of local businesspeople for drinks with mates. There's a half price beer special on some days and there are TVs for sports and nice outdoor seating. The food isn't really great though, not really flavoursome and over cooked. I think this is more of a barsnacks kinda place, although I'll need to give the lunch menu a try.

I'd heard about the amazing food and buzz at Brick-Lane Eatery from a work colleague and decided to check it out this past Tuesday, which was the women's day public holiday. After ordering a cuppachino, which was deliciously good, my friend and I both decided to try the calamari trio. I have to say that i was very disappointed. Firstly, at R75, the portion of calamari was TINY! and to top this off, the calamari was tasteless, and the sauces to go with this was not that much better either. The location is great, and the menu looks good, but at the price you have to pay i would expect the food to be much better, and the portions to go along with it.

Not sure if i'll go back there, definitely not value for money in my opinion.
JayRo
Very nice clean layout. The fireplace under the stairs gives it a lovely inviting feeling. Great craft beers on tap. Good outside seating along the canal. Not the best made cappuccino but flavours were good. Really want to go back for a meal as the menu looks good and well priced. Was just there for a Sunday morning coffee and muffin this time.

I was quite let down by Brick Lane. I had heard really great things about it and found it to be really cute and had a nice relaxing feel to it. Unfortunately my experience didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the bacon, avo and feta pizza, which was very soggy and had almost no bacon or feta on it. The burger was a better option although the order was delivered incorrectly at first.

Service was however quite good, so no complaints there. We were also not allowed to use our Entertainer vouchers as only certain items on the menu are included (not pizzas or burgers).
Melinda
Stopped by for a quick drink this evening after work, decided not to have supper but rather just a tapas from their menu. They do have a nice variety of craft beers.

We had the chilli poppers and must say this was quite disappointing despite the good reviews we had read about them. The crumbs were quite thick and the filling was minimal which made it more breadcrumbs than anything else.

Service wasn't too great as a big table arrived who's booking wasn't set up and they kind of rushed everyone in our section to get done so that they could reshuffle the tables.

Would maybe give it another try for breakfast.
Sharon
Love this hidden little spot in a beautiful setting on the canals. Their chilli poppers are the best ever and the flatbreads are awesome. I love going there. My only qualm is the price of their house wine, really pricey for what you get. Otherwise good all round

The Brick Lane Eatery was trending on Zomato this week, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I fought the urge to order the mushroom risotto and decided on the butternut, spinach and feta flatbread which was a good portion size. It sort of reminded me of a version of the Col'cacchio Norma praline pizza.

Not a bad place, just not too many non-meat options to choose from. Service was also friendly and quick.

I do feel like it's maybe more of a morning / afternoon spot as there's not much vibe at night despite being open until 10pm.

Everything was awesome and wow what a gorgeous spot. Definitely will be back and with more people. I had chicken snitzel and my sister has the best looking fresh salad.

Really good spot in Century City on the canals. Very cosy, great coffee and yummy breakfast. A nice find that is not in the mall. Rest of menu looks good so we will go back!

The second time the good company and I go to Brick Lane. Very tranquil setting outdoors and indoor. We pre-ordered our lunch due to the fact that they might be busy. We got there and the lunch was just completed, We had the Cajun Chicken, Mozzarella, bacon and avocado baguettes with sweet potato chips , this was very filling and very scrumptious . The take away chocolate milkshake was a delicious cool down for the “summer” day in winter. Thank you Archie and our waitress plus the chef for the preparation being so great.

I love breakfast and if it goes with a nice setting then I'm absolutely sold. However, I went to Brick Lane on Monday with my son, being a public holiday. This was our second attempt. We thought that because of the setting and maybe we just had a bad waiter and the cook was off sick the previous time - maybe this time it will be great. Ai I'm so disappointed. The first time we had terribly hard eggs and an omelet that was hard, flat and the cheese was not even melted. This time around we asked for sunny side up, yellow still soft, omelet with beacon and cheese, Chock Milkshake and Cappuccino. After at least 20 min we got one omelet that was exactly the same as the last time except that she brought the bleak beacon on a separate plate - later. Later we received the eggs on toast - so raw that we had to ask for it to be cooked more. Later we received, after the meal, 2 Cappuccinos and no milk shake. Such a pity because I love the setting but then the food and service cannot be beyond pathetic 2 times one month apart. Sorry guys but you are loosing the plot.

This is a relatively hidden place, but one well worth the find!

We came to have a few beers and something to eat, did not have much of an expectation, but boy was I surprised!

Service was quick, friendly and accurate. Beers (including craft beer) are on tap and delicious!

The burger that I had was incredibly well prepared, and all ingredients were notably fresh! As was the case with the food of the others at he table.

Was expecting more, but the food was a bit meh...

Not bad, just not the best I've ever had.
Anja Immelman
I am so glad we found this place. You have a nice view over the canal and it has a nice vibe. Good food, friendly service, affordable wine. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Found this quaint little eatery nestled in the middle of century city. Food was absolutely amazing! Menu is comprehensive with enough variety to keep you wanting to come back for more, while not leaving you unsure about what to order.

Service was also great, I was advised to stay away from a certain meal as they didn't have enough fresh ingredients to make it, talk about honesty to ensure quality!

Can't wait to come back for more...especially the half price craft beer special :)

I was so glad to find this place. Mostly because it's within walking distance but also its not in the mall or part of one of the hotels in Century City. We stopped here for breakfast and both had the eggs Benedict. Both wonderfully cooked and presented. Service is warm and very friendly. Nice place to just go for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink.
Romi Diamond
Really great spot, they make a mean breakfast, the service is at time slow which can be irritating. But we still go back and it's really good food and good value.
Melissa
Had a good cheese, carmalised onion and mushroom bunless burger with sweet potatoe fries. Will go back to enjoy it again
Calm and relaxed setting for a friday post work catch-up
Duane
The first time we tried to go there they were closed during their opening hours with no sign on the door. We tried again and the setting is quite nice and the service was good but they were out of stock of two things we asked for. Coffee wasn't great and food was also below average and a small portion. Wouldn't go there again.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret- the secret of Brick Lane Eatery. Nestled in Century City this no-frills eatery has a delightfully rustic interior that compliments the food so well. We sat on high chairs sipping on good coffee and laughing over terrible jokes. What better way to have brunch?

It is not everyday that you stumble upon a hidden gem and what do you know there is this amazing restaurant in the heart of Century City. Perfectly situated along the canal and its peaceful...

We came here for breakfast and my girlfriends said their eggs benedict were top class. I chose one of their flat breads with bacon, avo and feta (huge fan of that combination on any meal) and it was delicious.

Also there coffee was great and hit the spot for my caffeine fix.

I love that the Northern Suburbs is starting to sprout cute places like this!

We watched the rugby here and ate a few snacks in between. The breakfast menu sounds way better than the rest so I definitely will be back for that. The food generally was good, nothing too crazy exciting, but overall everyone enjoyed it.

We had quite a large table and were the only people in it though, so it lacked a vibe. Although, I see it picking up over the next few months.

The staff are friendly and attentive :)

I visited with a few colleagues for lunch. It's a cool space with an industrial feel.
I the had chicken and bacon baguette and my colleagues had burgers and a flatbread. My meal didn't wow me, I'm afraid. They were out of baguettes so I had a normal hamburger roll and some of my sweet potato wedges were still hard. My colleagues who had burgers and the flatbread were impressed with their meals. We were all happy with the portion sizes. The food did take a bit long to arrive at the table even though they were relatively empty.
The breakfast menu looks impressive so I will be back to try that

Now this truly is a hidden gem tucked away in Century City. Stunning restaurant that is rustic and has an amazing view overlooking the Canal. Came here for breakfast and had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon....DELICIOUS!!! they have a solid good coffee and some really tasty fresh fruit juices. I will definitely be coming back often to try their burgers.

This is a rare find in Century City - a cool, industrial space with craft beer on tap and some epic breakfasts on offer. To start, we sampled the granola with yoghurt (the berry compote is to die for!) and the chia pudding (which was lovely with a touch of honey). The hot breakfasts were truly something special, though - we tried the breakfast stack (potato rosti for the wiiiiin), the deep fried egg breakfast (a poached egg in a flavourful fritter!) and the yummy eggs benedict. All were delicious and it would be tough to choose which to re-order when I go back. I also enjoyed a good decaf cappuccino, and I can imagine that Brick Lane's patio is a lovely spot to sit in the sun and sip on one...

I loved this place!! It's a little hidden gem situated in Century city, the gorgeous rustic interior created a very relaxed ambiance for brunch and some laughs with fellow foodies.

I got to sample their breakfasts menu. They of course have the breakfast staples like granola and yogurt (with Berry compote) and eggs Benedict (with possible the best bacon ever) but they also had their signature dishes like deep fried eggs (aka the brick lane speciality) and the brick lane stack - a potato Rosti, topped with mushrooms, spinach an a poached eggs.

Round off your meal with their vanilla chia pudding and you will be golden for the best of the day!

The SO and I have been here twice, and we plan on returning here at least once a month, if not more. The chilled atmosphere, excellent background music and friendly waiter add to the experience. The food is excellent - I've had the Cajun chicken, mozzarella, bacon and avo baguette with sweet potato fries and I can't bear to try anything else because it's so good. Being able to pay with Zapper is super convenient as well. I work close by, and have popped in a few times for a cappuccino, which is ok. I would rate a 5, but there's always room for improvement :)
