Review Fukuda Sushi Restaurant - Centurion

Cairstine de Kock
Ordered a take-away of the yummy platter and tempura California rolls and absolutely loved it! One of my favourite sushi restaurants. I couldn't decide on a platter but the lady at the till made the perfect suggestion after asking me a few questions. Very good and friendly service.

Really, really good food and value for money. Service is fairly good too. I've a variety of items from the menu and everything so far has been fantastic.

A family we enjoy Chinese and Sushi food. We have found our new favourite, to eat in and to Take Away. I really enjoyed their fried Ice cream, while my children both enjoyed their buffet: eat as much as you possibly can without wasting. What a treat 😜

Always have an amazing time here, food is lovely and fresh. We enjoy the set menu and the sushi portions and quality is also excellent

Great sushi lunch experience. Had fast service and I especially liked the dining tables that is separate with wood from each other, it creates a cozy atmosphere

I spent an evening here with friends from church. We had the sushi 🍣 buffet. A hyped-up good experience with friends. They made the evening more special than Fukuda & the staff & sushi did, to be honest. It was a Wednesday evening. The waitress who served us is brilliant. Took notes for our orders and kept up with the sushi orders. Speedy! It's a lovely restaurant and welcoming. We paid via credit/debit card at the front, got to greet and thank the owner, and ventured outside once more to our cars. Enjoyable! Memorable. Thanks. "Xie-Xie" (Chinese)! Wouldn't mind visiting again, especially with 2 or more friends. The take-aways are the other option. I would bring the question of faith into the matter, yet it's not SOO worth it here on Google Maps. Christianity and Buddhism. God vs. idols. It bothered me a little while there and looking at the jade/glass/marble statue of a god at the end of the evening. Pray. Thank you!

Very nice food and atmosphere. The seats are not very comfortable, but the food is definitely worth it!

A great sushi restaurant with excellent service. Sushi is reasonably priced and really tasty. Try the Avocado Tofu Pouches, and take a bag of White Rabbit sweets home. Atmosphere is really peaceful and the restaurant is really clean. Highly recommended.

Best sushi in town. Always friendly service and their food is great

Sushi tastes really good, the atmosphere is amazing, and the prices are reasonable.

What a brilliant restaurant. Well done everyone.

They were already closed by the time we wanted to order. The lady (boss) and chef kindly helped us anyway. Excellent client service. Much appreciated.

We always order takeaway shushi and are always satisfied. A great bargain if you order vegetarian shushi. The sushi is great! Would definitely recommend!

Just bought beef chow mein, it was delicious and fresh. It makes me want to try more of their menu for sure. Customer service wasn’t great, most staff I could see where in their phones and uninterested. But I’ll go back for more.

Sushi has improved significantly over the years. Very yum! They don't have a liquor lisence though so that would be -1 star. Would recommend the salmon tofu pouches.
Janine
Absolutely superb! Unbelievably fresh at a very good price. This has quickly become my favourite sushi place in Gauteng and often catch myself day dreaming about it or driving from Sandton to Centurion to experience this superb little spot.

The sushi I bought from fukuda was not good - sushi rice was heavily over seasoned with vinegar, portions were small and salmon/tuna slices very thin. Many other places offering similar buffets and deals which are better.

Their sushi prices are average. Salmon used wasn’t the freshest & too had much rice in some pieces of sushi. I had vegetable spring rolls, but they were very tiny, so in my opinion over priced. Staff not very friendly.

This was not a pleasant meal!! My wife and I immediately experienced the unfriendly service at the counter when we ordered takeaways. I ordered crispy chicken and rice, and it was not crispy but swimming in sauce!! My wife ordered sweet and sour pork, and could hardly chew the pork as it was very overcooked and hard! Would not recommend Fukuda at all!

DO NOT GO to this place, I am not even referring to it as a restaurant.
Service, non-excitant. Sushi takes FOREVER-tastes okay. BUT calamari looks like something synthetic type of rubber band. My husband & I left hungry, irritable, upset (as the manager is rude with staff & customers) and ended up buying Nandos.

The little sushi bar that could do better. Fukuda's sushi is good and reasonably priced. However, the service is almost non-existent. It's not that waiters are rude, but rather that they nowhere to be found and uncommunicative. The restaurant is simple, with seating at a conveyor belt or in small booths that are a little on the dirty side. I had the Yummy Platter and my friend the Salad Platter, it was quite good and the ingredients fresh and of a good quality.Perhaps it's better to just use this as a takeaway.

Pleasantly suprised by a visit to our old fav sushi spot. After their move within the centre, as well as new ownership and management, it seems Fukuda is back to it's former glory. We had the sushi buffet (@R150 pp). The variety on the belt was great (with many exciting off the menu items), and the qaulity superb! The buffet includes starters and soups (the Yakatori is great and the Calamari is to die for), unfortunatly some of ours arrived cold. Service was good, we found our waiter to be attentive and friendly. Will be back to see if the keep on improving.

Following my previous review in 2017 I today visited the new store for lunch. They relocated a few shops higher. Food was decent but there was little Sushi options on the belt as the place was quiet. a little disappointing in that regard but food was still fine and the setting in line with other Sushi restaurants I visited. 2.5 is probably an accurate rating but given my previous rating of 1 when they moved without notice I award a three to even it out.

Wanted to get takeaway on a Tuesday at 16:30 and the place was closed. Not sure if they permanently closed but obviously something is wrong for them to be closed as the Mall is very busy

Price is good for eat as you can. Hot starters average. Nigiri must change. You should be able to eat in one bite, but is too much rice. As experience was fine. Come back? Not so soon.

We have found are new place to go for Sushi.
The sushi is really good. You can order from the menu or have the buffet for R150 p/p.

Service was ok. But once again they will play on the cell phone more than look after the guest!

We will go back for the Sushi or take way.

This is NOT a "prawn spring roll" ... this is a deep fried prawn - please don't lie on your menu. Please consult your competition (try Ming Woo) for an example. Disappointing, and then not just disappointed about the size/item, but tasteless except for the sweet & sour sauce provides 🤢

The buffet was amazing. Couldn't stop eating. Worth the R150. Very friendly staf aswell. I would definitely recommend the spring rolls and yakitori. Very tasty

We had lunch and ordered a serving of honey chicken and one of calamari. Both arrived on a cast iron platter that was so hot the sauces splattered all over floor and the food was burnt and extremely tough. My daughter's sushi was, however, very good.

From once a favourite place, unfortunately ever since the opening management has change this place has gone down the drain. Received the worst service tonight, bad attitude for waitress after messing up the order about 5 times in one sitting, telling us to hurry because she has leave, and then her we are 4 people with stomach cramps thanks to the worst food with pitiful presentation ... so sad to see what has happened the place

Very impressed with their sushi. Eating their buffet is the worth while as their Sushi is fresh and the variety is more than enough. Service is also very good.

I went to this restaurant it was the worst experience ever and I won't go back again. The fish for sushi are not fresh the avocado are always black and sometime are raw. The rice I don't think it is sushi rice and the taste was terrible. For the kitchen food are also not very fresh but those are not all. The thing which shocked me was the cockroach were everywhere even in my food. if you don't want to GET sick don't go there just don't.

Friendly service. The sushi is fresh and tasty. Pity the variety is a bit limited, wouldn't mind if more plates were available on the buffet. Worth a visit for the buffet.

Attentive owners who try their best to make your dinner enjoyable. The food is awesome. Fresh sushi at reasonable prices. Winner for a chilled Friday dinner. Jasmin tea and cheese and crab springrolls 👍.

Ambience is quaint and exquisite. Loved it because it got the Japanese style. Sushi was average but it's ok as per the price. And in starters we tried fried dumplings and wontons. Wontons were good enough but a bit deep fried and dumplings turned out bad. Overall it's a good experience.

One of the best places to get fresh sushi.
The buffet option leaves you with a lot of choices (sushi, fried rice, fried noodles, starters) and it is really worth your money. If you are going to be sitting there a while, consider this option.
If you are planning to not sit too long, you can try one of the sushi platters which is also amazing and worth the price you pay. Although service is slow, the waiters are friendly and helpful.
Would like to see some more variety at the sushi bar but if there is something you want, you can ask your waiter to place the order and the sushi chefs quickly and delicately prepares your order.
Absolutely crazy about the Strawberry Maki, would suggest ending your outing with this.

After a not too bad first visit a couple of months ago, we decided to give it another go before I give a review! Old dried out ginger, really skimpy with the salmon on the salmon roses! Had to sent a portion back as literally only one side of the roses were covered with salmon and then turned to each other! So to say the least I was quite dissapponted! Atleast the pricing is not too bad.

I must say this is definitely the best Asian restaurant in Pretoria I have been to.

This is the only Asian restaurant I know of with proper outside seating. The restaurant has a great atmosphere both inside and out. The candles outside at night creates a nice ans relaxing vibe, which really helped me relax after a long work day.

The food taste great and is value for money. They offer a huge variety of sushi, with some dishes being unique and different from what I have seen at most places.

The service was good and the waiters were friendly.

Definitely worth a visit and I will definitely add it to my list of recommendations.

Awesome place, cannot get enough of fukuda. Very nice place! All the food we have eaten there is oustanding! The sushi is always of high standard!

We decided to give this place a try. We ordered a veg sushi platter, veg chop suey, and fried golden parcels. Everything was good except the fried parcels which tasted good but the size were not the same so they weren't fried evenly. Would visit again for the sushi.

Just awful !! Ordered a Thai Green Curry - got a Corn Starch Bowl of yuk !!
Sent it back - no one else in the restaurant.
Will NOT go back !!

The sushi buffet is great at R145. You can add any starter or fried rice/noodle dish as you please. Wife had a sushigasm from the strawberry cream cheese rolls. Chefs are pleasant, helpfull and friendly.
