Review Shinko Sushi - Cape Town

Please please please visit this spar, if only for their pancakes and donuts. There is something special about their fried goods that sets them apart, even with regards to other spars. Happy to go back for seconds

Wow! What an awesome shop. THE best retail supermarket I've seen in years. I will drive there from Kuilsrivier, they're THAT good.
Jackee Woudberg
Friendly knowledgeable staff to direct you to goods... Fresh produce and great weekly specials

I find it to be one of the best Spar's in the Durbanville area - lots of freshly baked goodies and a good variety meat section. Good food served here too as well as tasty treats. Can recommend

Love the superspar and the staff. They bake the best bread. Neatly laid out store and very spacious.

A small group of us traded there today. I haven't been there for quite some time. I was amazed at the wonderful changes to the mall. It was a pleasure to trade there today. Just one problem there is no toilet for the "Disabled". I walk with a walking stick & find stairs extremely difficult which I had to climb & descend very carefully today!!

Conveniently located. Quick.pop in and pop out place. Takeout place, pharmacy, spar, etc.

All in one shoppong centre. From groceries to grooming they have it all. Dentist, General Practitioner, Pharmacy , barber, ladies hairstylist, art studio, clothing store, liquor store, sushi, spa.... To name a few

This Spar is beautifull and big. Prices are very good and I like what they are doing with the parking, putting up under cover parking and the under cover roofs are solar panels providing electricity to the shopping complex. Very clever. Well done management. Definately thumbs up here.

Very quiet mall, quite small. Super Spar is the main store. Super Spar has a small coffe shop which is very nice. The mall also has a phamacy, pick n pay clothing, an art shop 🎨 this is a very pleasant mall to visit

My friends and I go the restaurant for the breakfast special. It's amazing....value for money. Just order scrambled eggs and ask that they don't burn the bacon xxx

Honestly I’ve eaten a lot of sushi in my life but after finding Shinko I don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else, it’s always so perfect, the staff are super friendly. Love love this place !!

The sushi is always lovely. I love the portions of the chinese food when you order from buffet, it's just the right amount, not too much.

My husband, myself as well as my daughter went to have the buffet/belt just to see NO food was coming through accept for water-melon. After making an enquiry we were told that the customers ordering from the menu came first and we have to order from the menu as well if we don't want to wait??? We were still charged full price for water-melon which we did not eat either and after decided not to stay. We have never experienced such bad service at any other restaurant EVER. I will advise everyone not to eat there EVER.
My boyfriend and I regularly go here, it’s a really nice place as sushi/Chinese food takeaway places go. I love going cause it’s always the same and nothing changes from the Chinese television channel to the small bobble heads on the belt. People are interesting to watch and we always have a laugh. The food is nice and even though I am not a big sushi fan the other food is yummy. The small problems are that there is basically just 2 waiters and the one side of the restaurant gets more attention, so service is slow. Any complaints of the food is the amount of mayonnaise on the pieces and the small portion sizes for the Chinese food.
But ehh that can be forgiven

Have been here a couple of times for sushi which was amazing - hence the 2 redeeming stars. We had Chinese food for the first time tonight and it was really not nice at all. Very generous portions but no flavor at all except salt. The Hot and Sour soup was DIABOLICAL! I think it was just chilli and vinegar, completely inedible. Will try the sushi again but no Chinese.

Wonderful atmosphere and excellent sushi. I would definitely recommend this place. It is family friendly and a great idea for date night even when your budget is tight.

Its a really nice place to eat. Its affordable but still amazing and so full of of flavor. They have an wide range of Chinese food. They have lively buffets and a great general menu.

We have now visited Shinko Sushi a few times and the standard and quality have been consistently good. The steamed buns are realy good as well, unfortunately not always available. Reasonably priced on food and drinks. Limited seating, so make a booking to avoid disappointment. In addition: recently opted to order takeways. Good experience start to finish, from telephone order to the food itself. Waited maybe 10 min longer than the quoted time, but there was a few other takeaway orders before me so to be expected.

This was our first time at Shinko Sushi and we haad quite a good experience. The service was absolutely fantastic and our sushi/chinese was very prompt. I loved the sushi belt and I was very surprised that they even served plates of fresh fruit. The sushi in itself was also fresh and delicious. However the Wasabi stack could have done with a bit more wasabi and the chow mein noodles were a bit undercooked. The decor is also very outdated and I think a bit of a change can do wonders. My highlights were definitely the fresh sushi, cashew nut chicken and the delicious chocolate springroll!

Definitely the best sushi place in Durbanville!! The sushi is affordable and always fresh. They are not shy with the salmon. The place is clean and staff are always friendly and helpful. The "all you can eat" (@R109) includes salmon roses and chinese food. We visit Shinko often and have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for their sushi!!

Food is delicious but the service is very slow. They seem quite understaffed. But they are well priced at least and quite authentic with the cuisine. The crispy beef is amazing and they have the cheapest sushi buffet I've seen. Enjoyed the buffet despite waiting forever for our food

Fresh sushi, everything tasted great. We went at a very quite time, right after opening and we were served promptly. The waiter was very friendly. The chef's made the large sushi order very quickly. They even put on the conveyer belt for our table of four, so that we could take anything extra if we wanted to. We wanted to order something extra for our toddler, since we all had the buffet, but the waiter said she can eat anything from the menu with us :D. The chocolate spring rolls are amazing, it is filled with milky chocolate and tastes just like beacon chocolate, not that fake baking chocolate taste.

Very quiet... never a good sign. Waiter seemed far happier to sit and fiddle at the desk than help us. Food a bit oily and sushi bland. Spring rolls were amazing though, good crispy batter.

The suhi is very nice and fresh i would like the service to be faster though, staff attitude is very friendly and prices are decent. The owner is very friendly and the conveyor belt is always a friendly sight for a hungry tummy. Its new owners but same scene you would expect from waka yama. Very nice for a quiet meal in the afternoon. Will reccomend this place if you are a sushi lover.

What a terrible experience and a waste of time and money. Went for a bit of sushi and fashion sandwiches, and had beef stir fry as main course. They use plain salad cucumber in the stir fry and lettuce instead of cabbage. Don't know if it's something lost in translation but it tasted horrible stir fried with the sauce and meat. Not sure what rice they use fur the sushi but it was grey, not white, and way too salty. Couldn't taste the sushi because of the salt. The coconut milk didn't taste like coconut at all but rather like water with sugar and normal milk. Tables are dirty and sticky and the staff is not very friendly with poor table manners. Overall a sad experience and will not recommend this to anyone else.

This place used to be Waka Yama. Everything is the same, just the name has changed.
A bit understaffed. When my boyfriend and i were there the waiter was very busy with take aways.

I found Shinko on Zomato, kudos to Zomato for that! Andy the cashier/server/order taker is extremely friendly. I had the sushi which was well priced and good. Will be back for sure.

I had the chicken chop suey and it was very good. I'm not a big fan of the overly westernerised chinese food that is just too sweet. This was just right. Very enjoyable. Will definitly order again!
