Mr Anthony Swartz has been in coffee since 1963 and he is a master at roasting and blending, using only the best Arabica from some 27+ countries. Personally, in accordance with leading international travel magazines, I think this could be the very best, authentiq coffee in Cape Town. Recently renovated.
If you’re looking for an understated, authentic coffee shop that is all about the enjoyment of the beverage, Anthony’s Golden Cup is it! It’s really a little treasure of a place, with a variety of coffee beans to purchase for home use. I love that they serve filter coffee (they also do espresso based drinks), as I find very few places have that option these days. Each cup is made with love and if you’re lucky, you’ll find the legendary Anthony himself there too!
I have seldom experienced a better cup. So true, a gold cup every time. His roasting technique makes the difference. No fancy machines, just a simple cup of freshly brewed coffee-paper filter! Using his beans for a while now for my Saeco Magic machine; consistently enjoying a full bodied coffee. Well done Anthony!
One of my favourite spots in the Mother City. Incredibly unassuming cafe run by the sweetest and kindest coffee connoisseur who has been roasting coffee for many decades - making a visit here quite a special one.

The original is often understated. They have moved across the road which affects opening times, but good quality coffee has not changed in 28 years
Some people say that this is the best coffee in Cape Town. I say it's the best coffee in Africa.....the continent.....yeah it's that good. Don't miss this hidden gem.
