Greenmarket Square shopping is always an adventure. Situated in the heart of Cape Townโ€™s Central Business District, its ancient cobbles compliment the vibrant, cosmopolitan feel of the city. At various times in history, Greenmarket Square flea market has been a slave market, a fruit and vegetable market and even a humble parking lot. Today this flea market in Cape Town is where a wide range of informal traders sell batiks, beadwork, sculptures and more.

This place was amazing! There were African goods from almost every part of Africa! Prices were not too bad on most items. Very unique, and friendly vendors, not too much pressure ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great outdoor market with many local vendors who set up their stalls every morning selling locally made goods and souvenirs. A little overwhelming at first. Nothing is priced and you have to haggle over price but thatโ€™s the fun. They all take credit cards, thoroughly enjoyed shopping here! Also some very enjoyable street entertainers!! Well worth watching, listening to and tipping!

Very nice atmosphere but offers a imited range of goods. If you're from SA you won't see anything that haven't seen before. They might want to consider promoting goods to unique to Cape Town or the Province.

Very nice spot to get souvenirs for loved ones. The vendors were very nice and products were welled made. The fans makes for a nice wall decor if not using as it's original purpose. All prices are negotiable โ˜บ๏ธ. Enjoy your experience!

Nice place to purchase souvenir made by local artists, but you need good bargaining skill to purchase it at reasonable price.

Great deals on souvenirs (all prices are negotiable). You can use your card or cash (highly recommend bringing cash). DO NOT buy baby formula, bread, or diapers for the beggars... they resell the stuff for drugs.

People pester you a lot and it's difficult to actually browse because people try to talk to you the WHOLE TIME, so your attention is on them rather than what you might want to buy. However there are some really good finds in here and I would recommend for little gifts for friends.

The story behind the green market takes you back to when slavery was abolished. A place where farmers met to sell their produce

Greenmarket Square is one of Cape town's oldest markets, full of crafts, jewelry, clothing! I feel itโ€™s lit pricy, however Its recommended to visit if you are in town.

This historical square, with it's cobblestone streets, is surrounded by beautiful old buildings. Due to the current situation there are less market stalls on the square and you can therefore see more of the actual buildings. We noticed that the beautiful old National Art museum is closed (and fenced off) and in need of some attention. Hopefully the old hotel will operate again soon and attention given to the others attractions around the square to attract more tourists because this is a rewarding place to visit!
