This is the second time I’ve experienced shoddy service from this outlet iro stale food!! Ordered a cheese scone ON A MONDAY- one would expect all good to be fresh on a Monday - but not with this lot. The scone seems to be kept in a fridge and brought out today. Now it makes sense why the sever was insisting on warming the scone!!! Bad publicity in the entire ABSA Building for this outlet.

Good hearty food with excellent service. Was craving 'home cooked comfort food' and this was the perfect little old school cafe, for a cold winter's day. Massive portions (I ordered the bobotie), but was still tempted by the cocktail milk tart. Will return when I next have that comfort food craving. Update: Returned for their R35 breakfast special. Solid breakfast at a good price. Once again, super friendly and fast service.

Bakoven had been here for as long as I can remember. The menu hasn't changed much and it's best known for its baked goods. I can vouch for their baked cheesecake which is the best in town for sure. Today I had a simple toasted bacon, cheese & egg which wad hot & satisying. Their cappuccino had just the amount if creaminess I like and the intensity was spot on. Good quality, value for money and consistency. Happiness.

I am a tourist guide and have the privilege of eating out daily. When in Cape Town I often have a breakfast at Bakoven. I have always had good quality service from friendly staff. I can also not fault the breakfasts, they are awesome.

I visited this place twice - the first time my experience was bad but tolerable, the customer service is very bad, the second time, a few days ago, I ordered a beef burger and chips, the patty was soggy in the middle and really crispy on the outside, the Chips was disgusting , it was greasy and tasted like it was fried in very old fish oil that was used to fry fish , I could not finish it all, I Spent R65 on a meal I didn't enjoy- the lady who served me(again- the same lady as my previous visit) seemed to treat everyone else with a delighted smile , twice she served me as if I was an inconvenience, I don't work very far from this Restaurant, and I thought of giving it another try. I can honestly say, I will not be returning, bad review for both occasions.

Good day I'm terribly terribly sorry you had a bad experience at bakoven I'm sending this.comment on behalf of my mother who works at Bakoven she would like you to know that we do not use fake icing on our cakes they are in fact fresh cream cakes , and we use normal strong cheddar cheese on our sandwiches , we have had endless compliments and about how delicious they are so I am really terribly sorry you had a bad experience , we also always ensure our kitchen is clean at the end of every day it is a functioning kitchen so therefore there.might be dishes around or busyness. To the lady who spoke about the macaroni and.cheese I hope that you did let us know that you were displeased by the dish as we would gladly refund you .. we strive for customer satisfaction and will go the extra mile even.when we are in the wrong.

Worst Mac and Cheese ever! It is super oily, the sauce has curdled, and there is an unbearable smell coming from this dish. Sick to my stomach!

We looked for a place to have a tea and a bite, we noticed Bakoven which to me was a name from the past. Anyway we got in and they have a big display of cakes with fake cream (I think that they call it Orley whip... I thought that disappeared in the 70’s). So, we sat down ordered 2 teas and 2 toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches. Again, it was like going back 40 years, the toast used this yellow 'Gouda' and MARGERINE and was DISGUSTING! I also asked where the loos where, so they took me though the kitchen and I can tell you if Gordon Ramsay would have seen it, it would have been the worst "Hell's Kitchen" he ever saw, it was so disgusting. Anyway, it was a trip in the past. NEVER AGAIN!
