Review Best Of Asia - Cape Town Central

Friendly staff. Waiter needs a bit more training in customer care and remembering to bring what was ordered as this drops the ball for the rest of the team who are on point. My daughter felt especially special as the lady who was making our sushi called her by her name and gave her the particular plate she ordered. She overheard our orders as we gave them to the waiter and prepared ans served them to the correct person when ready. Also very friendly - greeted us before we saw her, as we walked in and waited for the waiter. We had the buffet sushi. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the plates we had and will definitely go back to this particular branch again. Missed out on taking pics of our own sushi except that last piece. Will ha e to remember the next time! Parking is off street, there is a hand sanitizer on entrance. Mask required to enter the store. All staff wore masks at all times.

I really enjoyed the sushi....super yummy. Staff was friendly and prices were fair. Unfortunately, I ordered seafood fried noodles. I couldn’t eat much as they were slimy. I feared they were off. Other that that....it’s a nice little joint.

They have many kind of sushi. It was not bad.

Great Sushi restaurant, the chef is so friendly but the waiters are totally different.

Should you visit this place? Yes. That's all you need to know. You'll enjoy it's intimate setting right in the middle of Long & Kloof Street.

This is my favorite place for sushi. Such a reasonably priced buffet and the best tempura prawns ever. I recommend Best of Asia to everyone. Friendly staff. If you're looking for good authentic sushi I would highly recommend them.

Great quality and value for money. Honestly don't know why they didn't have more customers. One of the best sushi places in CT!

Love this place. Sushi was fresh AF

Very good sushi at reasonable prices, hats off to the two amazing men running the place on new years eve, it was hecticly busy and understaffed and they were keeping it together like pros!

Could easily be missed in passing, huddled between McD's, Pizza Hut and Shisha Lounge...an Asian gem in the heart of the CBD. The owners are hands on to greet you as the entrancing asian R&B plays in the background, ensuring the servers are equally polite, friendly and efficient. Besides the warm atmosphere, BoA's Sushi is always a refreshing treat - and for a fraction of the price than most asian chain eateries! Highly recommended!

My favourite place in Cape Town to get sushi. Great sushi and at a really good price (there is a permanent two-for-one special)

Ordered vegetarian food, came home was salmon. Went back to exchange the items, got home, salmon again.

Horrible service/racist staff especially the Asian waitress

Tried the all-you-can-eat special for R129. There is also a R149 option but it wasn't much different , just a few more options. Anyway, the sushi wasn't so good. I tried many different types. The quality was average at best, but that's what you get for the price. The worst one I tasted was one of the deep-fried rolls. I cannot stand cooked avo, and the deep fried rolls had avo inside them. Cooked avo tastes disgusting IMO. Also they top a lot of their sushi with this really cheap sweet chili sauce. Won't be going back again, no matter how hungry I am. If you really want a sushi buffet for a decent price, you better of going to Observatory, which has many different sushi restaurants that offer better quality IMO.

While I think they make some really good sushi. The beef chop suey was absolutely horrible. It was burnt and it carried throughout the dish. So disappointed.
Best of Asia (BOA) is a really tiny place in a bustling street. When we arrived at the location, we nearly missed the entrance; that’s how small it is. However, upon entering, the overly enthusiastic Asian lady behind the counter, who could barely speak a word of English, promptly welcomed us. There were 3 waitrons and about 5 other customers which were also after that late afternoon sushi fix. In the middle of the restaurant is the sushi belt and on either side are small sections with tables. In the back is a makeshift bar, which doesn’t look like much, however, is stocked with a variety of different alcoholic beverages.

After sitting down at the sushi belt, we were approached by an obviously inexperienced waiter who had difficulty understanding us. Nevertheless, he brought the menu and asked us the usual, “Do you want something to drink?”. We politely declined drinks and got straight to the sushi buffet. All the food was freshly made and the taste was pretty much up there with many of the bigger sushi restaurants in Cape Town. The most noticeable aspect of BOA was their original items on the menu, which are perfect if you feel like veering away from the usual salmon roses and maki rolls.

There were only two people slaving away behind the counter and the same two people were responsible for the takeaway orders. This did however affect the speed of the service somewhat.

All in all, I had a pretty good experience at BOA. It’s the perfect place to go if you want good sushi at a very good price (R149 buffet). I would definitely stop by again whenever I feel like stuffing my face with sushi.

The waitress was friendly and helpful. Ordered the vegetable springrolls and crispy chicken with noodles. The springrolls had good flavour just the pastry was a bit dry. The crispy chicken was a disappointment though as it wasnt crispy and lacked flavour. The noodle tasted good though, think if I came back I would order their chow mein instead.

Stopped by for an early dinner around 5pm (was one of those days when I finished my lunch by 11am). Given it was so early, I was the only patron in the restaurant. Probably why the sushi chef felt very comfortable staring at himself in one of those mirrored pillars and popping his zits. Since I was still flicking through the menu, I gracefully got up and left...

I ate yesterday there. The place is good the sushi is very good but the only problem is the stuff the manager or the owner actually not so nice. They have two different kinds of menus buy one take one or open buffet. I took open buffet and my friend took buy one take one. My friend liked to try what i was eating so i let her try it. The manager got so angry and upset and sent to me the waiter to say to me don't let her eat. I was embarrassed and i was looking good with my friend and felt not nice at all. I can buy this whole shop if i want but it is really not about money or anything but about how to enjoy the time. This was not cool and really made me looked bad to my friend :S. Thank's anyway .

Really bad service, never before have I just stood up, paid for my drinks and left. For a lunch time special with only 2 other clients in the restaurant I ended up waiting over 40 minutes for the food. The waiter never came to the table and disappeared in the back room. They could see how uneasy we were watching time and waiting for the food on a lunch break and they couldn't care less. When we got up to cancel the order the lady had the nerve to say that the tempura was still to be made and we should wait. 45 Minutes in and on lunch ordered from there lunch menu, we paid for the overcharged cans of cold drink R19 (Pineapple Fanta) and R20 (Stoney) no clue how that makes sense and left. Will never go back there and wont suggest you go there either. If you want good food and great service best avoid this restaurant.

Cape Town is great cause there's literally a sushi stop on every corner. We found this spot and it's not bad for one of those moments you usually get when you just want to have an all you can eat sushi quick fix.

While the sushi was tasty, you sadly had to wait a long time for the food. The restaurant wasn't too busy but the belt was empty so you couldn't even nibble between platters. We will be back for the sushi but maybe during off-peak time to properly enjoy it! I'd also recommend simply going for their buffet special (R149) rather than paying for plates; most plates with fish are above R45 and if you plan on eating 4 or more you'll probably get more value for money with their buffet.

I prefer the Best Of Asia in Green Point. This one seems so small and dark, with not as much entertainment to see as one can in the streets of Green Point. Sushi however is never a disappointment. Especially the buy 1 get 1 offer, so many combos so little time !

I love this branch! Another corner sushi store, but some of the freshest sushi I've eaten! Popped in for lunch and they were running a two for one sushi special. I ordered salmon sashimi, tempura prawns and salmon roses. All were made on the spot, super fresh and very yummy!

I've been to Best of Asia quite a few times but yesterday's sushi was absolutely amazing. I love it when I can have sushi and my eyes can roll back in my head and this sushi did that for me. The crab tempura roll, salmon bean curd and salmon roses were my favourite. I also quite liked the prawn roses which was my first time trying it but not to bad. Another first for me was the pecking duck roll and I'm a bit mixed reviews about that one but still tasted great...

This restaurants tagline should be: Consistency is the key to our success.

I've been coming here since they opened and I've never been disappointed, they don't have AMAZING sushi like nuri sushi factory but they do the basics very well and the sushi is made right in front of you so you know it's fresh.

The staff are really friendly and remember me well as I used to come here once a week because of there buy 1 get one free special. They're very friendly and always make sure where it eat is clean.

I highly recommend coming here if you don't want to be disapointed and if you do want good sushi. Sometimes they even have all the sushi you want on their conveyor belt and you can be in and out in 15 mins.
I like going here for quick, cheap sushi that actually tastes really good. The atmosphere is really nothing to write home about; it's tiled and mirrored, with big screen TVs always blaring some 90s music video or movie. But it's a good place to get your fix, either when you're solo, or for spur of the moment takeout.

One of the best value for money sushi restaurants in Cape Town. Friendly staff, great variety of sushi. A must try! Don't get deluded by the interior, if your goal is to eat great sushi for cheap, this is the place to go.

Popped in for a quick Sunday night dinner on the way home from the airport. Really surprised by the value for money as well as the quality of our sushi. Fresh and delish!

I love me some Asian noodles! Always consistent and fast service. The sushi is a gold standard and fresh definitely a quick go to spot if I feel line Asian food and I am in town.

Cool restaurant if you're looking for something quick, cheap and easy! Definitely a go-to place for sushi-loving students. Miles away from fine-dining though, so go there with student expectations.

The truth is I have walked past “Best of Asia” many times. I will just go ahead and put the blame on its location. It is right behind Mc Donald's and whenever I am at Mc Donald's I hardly ever get a craving for raw fish. Yesterday was a diferent story though. I swapped my brown bag for chopsticks with a friend.

It was International Women’s Day after all so we thought we deserved a little treat. Of course there was a buy 1, get 1 special and with our initial fast food budget we were not about to complain. We just focussed on the sushi belt and picked whatever we fancied. My friend loved the wine prices and maybe a little too much because when the belt malfuctioned she didn't notice a man trying so hard to get it moving again right infront of us. She was like “ Why are the plates not moving, I want more”. Bless her!

Best of Asia is not the kind of a place you want to take a sushi connoisseur to or Nobu fans, because the name is a bit ambitious to say the least. But, its that restaurant you can rely on for those unplanned late Sunday lunches and the prices are really good. The staff is friendly. It gets a plus from me.

And more we had and we are planning on visiting the restaurant soon.

I've been dining at this place for about 2 years and their sushi is definitely some of the best quality in Cape Town. However, don't go at peak times (like dinner time, or Friday evenings) they are usually understaffed and the food takes forever (I waited 30 mins this time). In summer tourist season they gear up and service usually improves.

If you want value for money, then I cannot recommend this place enough. In searching "sushi specials Cape Town", I came across this quaint restaurant.
It's placed conveniently at the bottom of Kloof street, making it easily accessible to anyone living in town.
The sushi is unbeatable for its price. It has an all-day every day "buy one get one free" sushi special, and the sushi belt in the branch is great fun and convenience - start as soon as you walk through the door!
The sushi is really great and simple. No messing about!
Cucumber maki, regular California rolls, you know.
I've been here twice in the same week since I discovered it! Definitely do recommend!

these guys are the greatest sushi chefs in the whole of cape town, i can not get enough salmon roses in my mouth. best of all its buy 1 get 1 free all the time. i love that when im starving i can literally pop in and be full within 20 minutes. and they even make you mini fruit plates some times and cut oranges into little handbags :)

This is one of my favourite sushi resturants in the city. It has an all day every day "buy one get one free" special! Very affordable and honestly the tastiest I have had. Salmon roses are the winners here.
