I was looking for a nice cafe to sit down and have breakfast, walked around the area and decide to sit at King's Cafe. I was greeted by a friendly waitress but unfortunately that cannot make up for the poor quality of food. The beef sausage didn't taste like beef at all, it was a very cheap, low quality sausage smothered with oil. The scrambled egg and toast comes on a bed of lettuce, which is really off-putting, I think it's only there to make the egg look like more.<br/>I first sat outside but moved to the inside, as it was getting cold, and as soon as I stepped in I was put off by the overall look and smell of the place. Dishes are washed at the bar area, the overall layout and decor is just un-appealling.

We walked into kings cafe with the hope of avoiding the usual franchise and wanted something different from the usual, maybe a Cape Town experience without any tour guide. <br/>Ya this place didn't do it for me, the service was slow even though it was just my mate and I. The waitress was atleast attempting a " I'm feeling awkward smell ", but the weird ratty smile didn't do justice to her attempts.<br/>The food was cool but the smell 😞

After avoiding all that looks like franchise stores and looking for something authentically capetonian with an empty stomach yearning for some breakfast, my friend and I ended here. <br/>I will say, the place was quiet, had an odd scent to it but decided to try it. The cappuccino was great, the English breakfast was alright as well as the service in general. <br/>It's not a place I'm dying to see again but I wouldn't mind ending up there again.

Perfect setting but don't think the owner has worked it out. Can do so much more with this space. Food was ok, service ok but the smell from the street vendors didn't help much to set a great experience. Still not bad. Great cappuccino's though!

kings cafe is know under new management and it looks clean and tidy,its doing great i went there several times now and they have the best tasting food ever I would recommend it to old and young people.

Cheap but the worst service I have encountered in a long time. <br/><br/>For example: First occasion - waitress dropping fries next to our table, brings new plate but leave the dropped fries on the ground for the duration of our visit.<br/><br/>Second time - after waiting 15 minutes to order and thereafter another 15 to get served (we were the only customers btw), we just left . <br/><br/>Third time they didn't have beer on tap as ordered and WITHOUT asking us went next door to order beer there and charged us for the 40% additional price of the cost of beer next door. <br/><br/>In general the waitresses are so noisy talking to each other or the music so load its unpleasant to sit inside.<br/><br/>Loads of potential - unfortunately the waitresses & owner are have no idea what service is and will probably be the downfall of this place.<br/><br/>Might give it a last try because of the prices and proximity to work.<br/><br/>Update:<br/>Did give it a last try - they were out of beer on tap (for a second time in a row). Do yourselves a favour and pass this one by.
