We have eaten at the Taj Mahal several times over the years. The restaurant itself used to be bigger but has been reduced in size. We enjoy their curry very much. My husband enjoys their soup , but I don’t really like it. But I do love their Samoosas. We always have an enjoyable time at this restaurant 👌. What is a bit of a problem is parking. The customers used to park across the road but since then a fence has been erected so that parking is now out of the question.

We walk in and immediately we are welcomed by the owner whose Indian food has fed the Houtbay community and surrounding areas for the past 12 years. The service is slower than expected but the food is amazing. Make sure to book in advance as the do get extremely busy from about 3pm to 8pm. And do engage with the owner on the Indian and Pakistani culture and history, he loves mingling with the Guests. Try the samosas and an Indian type of chilli bite made with potato d onions and spices and fried to perfection. Parking could be tricky on a weekend.

Wow, amazing food. Had the Crayfish Curry (Hot) and it has so much flavor and was just the right amount. Tried the butter Naan instead of rice and wasn't disappointed, the Naan was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff and manager are very friendly and efficient. Definitely visit the Taj Mahal again soon.. Russel is an amazing host, thank you to everyone.

Three of us had mild lamb curry dishes. All delicious. Generous portions. Two would have been quite adequate for the three of us unless you like enormous helpings. We will definitely be back. We sat outside watching the Cape Cycle Tour go past and had ringside seats! A very good place to watch from.

Taj Mahal is by far the BEST quality food I’ve had the pleasure of eating in a long time! Every time we order from Taj Mahal, not only is the service friendly, professional, and efficient, but delivered at an exceptional standard - always super fresh, always wonderfully tasty, and the flavours are authentic! To be frank, anyone who disagrees with this, and gives less than 5 stars, needs to have their tastebuds checked :-) I have tasted many, many curries in my lifetime - coming from a mixed-race & multicultural background - and Taj Mahal is definitively my favourite. In fact, whenever we order their superb meals, I ultimately land up eating significantly more than my tummy has space for; my hubby knows full well that there is nothing left over when it gets to Taj Mahal - that’s how great it is! Irresistible is an understatement. Thank you Mr. Khan and your team!

If you want fresh good authentic Indian/Malay cooking with friendly service then this is the place. The restaurant has been there for years so the decor looks a bit dated but still kept clean though. But we went for the food. And it was very good.

We had take out last night and the food was absolutely lovely. The portions were very generous and there was enough to feed another one or two persons (we were 4, ordered 4 mains, 4 naans and 2 rices). The flavours were superb, the service super sweet and polite when I came to collect... Taj is our fav indian food in the bay. Love love. Always happy to support them!!
