Hidden neighborhood gem, excellent food and service. Well worth a visit.

Wow what a hidden gem. My first time eating here and i absolutely have to recommend it. The atmosphere is lovely. Their menu is amazing from normal sushi to their signature Rock Sushi menu which is such a delight and a nice change from the old regular options. Service was good. I definitely recommend booking a spot if its nearer to the weekend as they get quite busy and have some patience as they seem to get allot of take away orders which can back the kitchen up otherwise they great.

I enjoy the vibe and the food is always consistent. The staff go that extra mile to make sure that your happy. I left my scarf behind and they kept it for me and when I went back for dinner the waiter Tate had kept it for me. 3 weeks had already past. 6 stars out of 5.

We went for supper tonight and loved it! We were reticent because of the previous reviews but they were unfounded. Great food and wonderful service. Give your local "hood" a chance. We did and it was worth it!

Had the most incredible takeout from Rock Sushi Thai a couple nights ago. I had the Phucket Noodle, my fiancé had the Firecracker Noodle. Both were absolutely delicious! I've always enjoyed their food but they seem to have seriously upped their game recently! Definitely my favourite Asian restaurant. Thanks for the yummy food, we'll be back!

I 100% recommend the sushi 💛 I had the Protea Combo the presentation is INSANE 🎉 and I loved every bite 😁 The virgin cocktails are a bit sour but other than that it was great. Service was Excellent, very sweet and attentive staff 🌻🙏🏽

Food was amazing. However took way too long and the manager never came to apologize once. His poor waiters had to and wasn't their fault.

This is probably my favourite thai restaurant in Cape Town! The menu is amazing. They have great Thai options for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Their sushi is also not something to miss out on. Parking is on the street and its location in Newlands makes it a great spot for locals and tourists alike. It's a perfect date restaurant or just catching up with your friends. Add this to your must-eat list!

Really good quality sushi with a potent wasabi that brought tears to my eyes. I especially enjoyed the Godzilla rolls. Our waiter was friendly and helpful.

As always good food and pleasant atmosphere, service not always the fastest but that is forgiven as all is prepared fresh. My go to for regular sushi, well priced and never disappointed.

Amazing food. Service was lovely and the staff were all super sweet and accommodating. Awesome price point too!

I ordered takeaways from this place yesterday. Erm... It was ok. Not too bad. Maybe I need to venture a bit further into their menu to fully appreciate but I just had the prawn spring rolls and a small portion of sushi.

Great service! Management and staff were able to rectify a issue without any hiccups and left a satisfying smile on my face. Well Done!! I will definitely be returning.

Great fried sushi, with a Thai twist, also solid selection of all your Thai favorites and a good range of craft beers to match you preference and meal

Cuisine from the top drawer.
If you ain’t careful with this place...there’s a slight possibility of getting addicted because it’s THAT good.
The quality consistency makes this place one of the best.

The location of this restaurant is so perfect, it makes for the perfect, hidden cosy spot to take care of that nagging sushi craving.

Situated in Meadowridge park n shop, next to Mio Col’Cacchio, it’s the perfect place for a light lunch or a quick supper while you’re in the area.

Their sushi is lovely and they serve alcohol. There is also a play area right next to the restaurant, allowing you to watch your kids entertain themselves as you soak in the atmosphere.

The service is a bit slow but the restaurant is usually quite empty.

A definite must if you’re in the area.

Impromptu dinner with Shani, Gazelle and Azilda - eating Thai Food and talking about our Holland/Italy and Greece adventures!

Food was AMAZING and did we eat, our order for the night consisted of - chicken dumplings, Vegetarian Rice paper Spring rolls, Starter Platter for two, 4x Penang Curries (3x Chicken, 1x Prawn) and salmon roses. The big bummer of the evening was that they run out of Chocolate Spring rolls.

Tucked away between Checkers and Woolies at Park and Shop, I've passed by many a times, not knowing what culinary yumminess I was missing. When I'm in the mood for Thai, they will be my first point of call!

I ordered the salmon bombs and veg california rolls. Really big pieces and very tasty but what was most alarming is that the salmon bombs were spicy and completely different to how they are made at the Newlands branch.
Andrew Campbell
Convenient take out for us, but most often the wait is longer than stated, and most recently the order wasn't filled correctly, which resulted in a longer wait.

Mostly we order prawn handrolls, crispy prawn California rolls, thinly sliced salmon sashimi, and salmon roses.

Highly recommended gem of a restaurant tucked away in suburbia. A small, intimate place with great decor and an awesome atmosphere. Food is outstanding as is the service. Remember to book if you're going for dinner as it's very popular with the locals.

Had a great experience tonight, sushi was superb! Definitely try the spicy salmon sashimi & wasabi parcel. Lovely restaurant, super friendly staff & great Raka red by the glass.

Location is not ideal being situated around a busy shopping complex so recommend going in the evenings, but very good sushi, curry and delicious dim sum. Very popular resturant amongst locals so book to avoid disappointment. Also has a kids play area.

Although we have lived in the area for years we discovered this little place by looking through Zomata. We decided on take always and I was surprised to be told it would take about 45 minutes. I assumed they were hectic but when I arrived it seemed only 3/4 full. My food was ready and still warm. Michele had Penang Chicken mild which she enjoyed but there seemed to be very little chicken. I had the Beef Green curry which had a good amount of meat and lots of crisp veg. I ordered medium but was disappointed but the lack of depth of flavor. This seems to be a great family place with a play area for kids. Probably won't be back.

We went for a last minute Saturday dinner. Loved the decor. Such a cute little restaurant. Great service. Delicious sushi. Good wine selection

A bustling little spot close to home, great for a quick eat out. The service was pleasant but could do with a uniform or set dress code as well as some training. We decided on the sushi with tempura staters. The tempura prawns were a little different to the usual but wow so yummy! Eating 8/10, would have been perfect if they had a crispy tempura. The sushi was fresh, I do however feel that they could have used a little less rice and a little more fish, it therefore gets a lousy 5/10

I won't be going back for sushi in a hurry!

This is a nice place to meet a friend after work for dim sum and a glass of wine. A selection of starters is always great, otherwise I enjoy the curries. I have on occasion stopped in for a drink and wifi usage when my internet bombs at home! Very cosy atmosphere in winter and a lovely open outdoor area in warmer months.

We arrived at the restaurants as my son had at football game around the corner at 20h30 so we were in a bit of a rush. I ordered the chicken Mendake noodle and my other half went for the Bang Bang chicken. The restaurant probably has seating for about 25 I guess and is in a little shopping precinct in Meadowridge. The food arrived I guess after 20 minutes of ordering. I tried some of my partners Bang Bang which came with a side bowl of rice and it reminded me more of crispy beef I had in UK but better. My noodle was very tasty and we decided to share which
was probably the best option. The overall service was good presentation was great and food tasty and would certainly return again. The bill with two drinks was R211 which I thought was very reasonable.
Still the freshest affordable sushi I've ever had !!!! Whether it's for take away or sit down I am always happy with their quality of fish , it's presentation and their customer service . I always push myself to try something else of the menu but the sushi is just too damn good . My boyfriend wasn't big on sushi until he had Rock Sushi 👍👍👍👍👍

Rock Sushi is our best midweek restaurant. Perfect for an early family evening with friends. Crispy Duck is recommended. Tasty Tom Yum soup.
Michelle
One of my fav local spots. The service is average some girls are so friendly, some sometimes are clearly having a bad day. We've had so many times our orders are wrong but the food is so good it's worth dealing with it. The dim sum is great, the duck spring rolls are the best. Their curries are all delicious and the phad Thai noodles are the best I've ever had. The sushi is extremely over priced, but they do a great special platter for only R99

I would live inside The Rock if I could. Their decor, service and amazing cuisine is impeccable to my tastes. If you enjoy good vibes and quality exotic food, this is the place to go.

I love Rock Sushi Thai ! The food, The vibe and everything else is always so brilliant I don't have a single bad word about that place ! My last visit was quite a while ago, two friends and I we stopped for a quick lunch and I had a special with a mix of spring rolls, chicken satay and prawns pops. So so good ! I also added corn fritters as I never tasted them and they suggested it. Really awesome little lunch accompanied by a glass of rosé of course !

Rock sushi is still a old faithful. Haven't been here for ages (maybe 2 years), but I picked up where I left off. That's what makes it great. You know what you getting and it's tasty and loads of great options too.
Only thing is, seems portions have shrunk a tad, and the pricing is a title much now taking that into consideration.
Those are just clutches at the proverbial straw though.
Was great to be back there and look forward to it again.

Have been to Rock Sushi Thai many times and have never been disappointed. Love the Sushi, the Dim Sum and the Stir Fry's. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Lovely for a weekday or weekend meal.
Vic Lass
My favourite local. Good quality Thai and sushi that can compete with most out there. The only negative is most probably some inconsistenciy with the hotness...a medium curry might be mild or hot...
Dale Bedford
Really great takeaway sushi. Choose from some deliciously creative options on the Rock Sushi menu including inventive sashimi. Platter combinations are well thought through and not rice-heavy. Fast and friendly service.
