Review Stonebreakers Restaurant - Cape Town Central

The restaurant is part of the Marriott Protea Hotel. It offers all you can eat breakfast and some of the best coffees in town. Features outdoor seating overlooking Signal hill and the waterfront. It’s 5 min away from the beach and a few entertainment destinations. The food is delicious and staff are exceptionally helpful.

Basic buffet but well prepared. Service was good and the amazing view of Table Mountain is worth the trip.

I am a regular at Stonebreakers and a Prokard member. The food here has always been good, barring the Covid limitations. I cant wait for the Sunday buffets to return. Kate (Katherine), just a suggestion: your Sunday buffet clients are predominantly locals and church goers who follow the tradition of a formal Sunday roast lunch. They inevitably made telephone reservations pre-covid. In this case you should have their contact details in the reservation book. Market the Sunday lunch with them, test their interest. You could pilot it 1 Sunday per month and grow it as interest increases. I was a bit sad to hear of the unavoidable retrenchments. I missed some familiar faces including Cindy's.

The lunch spread was good, but they ran out of desert and we had to wait for it. Over all.it was OK.

First day had a good buffet breakfast experience with moist scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and sausages, plus really enjoyed the extensive fruit selection and cuppachino. Second day the scrambled eggs was dried out, bacon burnt and was just not on the same level as day 1, so we opted for a breakfast outside of our hotel on day 3. Breakfast is pricey but worth it on the good days.

A lovely and clean restaurant with a good atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming. Lots of variety when it comes to the salads and dessert.

Unfortunately we weren't informed that the buffet would be a "special" Mother's day buffet and that the prices would be around R390 per person. The prices listed on Zomato is also outdated as the new lunch price is R205.

Disappointed that we had to pay double for the buffet.

One of the nicest buffets I've been to in a while.
The friendly staff are right there to lend assistance.
Three is a wide selection of salads that you can start off with. After which you move on to a warm lunch - the garlic creamy steak was definitely a favorite.
Then to finish it off it's a desert table with lots of bite sized treats for you to try

We stayed at the Protea Breakwater Lodge and dined at the Stonebreakers Restaurant twice during our stay. We had the dinner buffet both times and it was great. It is wise to enquire what they offer on the day beforehand as they serve 3 main dishes (normally 2 meat/fish and 1 vegetarian) along with the veg and salad valley. You can have as much as you want and I enjoyed it both times. Well worth it👍🏻

There is something about eating breakfast at a hotel that is comforting. Stonebreakers is located at the Protea Hotel, close to the V&A Waterfront.

An island counter with an assortment of yoghurts, cereals, chopped fruit all beautifully displayed. Along with delicious display of charcuterie as well as crudités and artisanal cheeses. Not to mention the delectable pastry counter with danishes, scones, muffins, pains au chocolat and fresh, buttery croissants.

Then there is the hot breakfast station where you can mix and match to suit your palate. From creamy scrambled eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes to crispy bacon and sausages.

End of a delicious buffet breakfast with a delicious cup of cappuccino. As they say - the better the start, the more beautiful the day.

Saw it advertised on Facebook so gathered a group of friends and off we trotted for Sunday buffet breakfast. The stage had been set; we had great expectations...

We found a table on the deck overlooking the V&A waterfront with Table Mountain as the backdrop. Stunning.

The buffet offered fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cold meat and cheese. There was toast, muffins and tiny hard croissants. Also a few baked pastries that were unfortunately overcooked.

The hot buffet was served in Bain Marie's resting in lukewarm water so the dishes were decidedly cold. Don't serve me cold eggs. There was mushrooms, sausages, bacon, mini pancakes, potato wedges, scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, baked beans, paddock and sour fried veg. It was all very ordinary and reminiscent of a school canteen. Really nothing unique or special. Will we be back? Nope.

BigJoe Glen Hunt Sharese Hunt

This is a dreadful restaurant - poor service from friendly but poorly trained staff, frequently don't have menu items, dirty plates, etc. If there is ever a real "faulty towers" this is it.

Alway great buffets with a variety of foods to cater for all pallets. The chiefs make a point of making you feel welcome. The food tastes great Staff are friendly and disability access is good. It's a great place to have breakfast, lunch or supper with a view of table Mountain on one side and the V&A Waterfront on the other.
