We had dinner at Jacky's tonight. Without a doubt the best Chinese buffet in Cape Town. But not quite a buffet as they can no longer have all the dishes out on display due to the silly government rules for lockdown. They deserve five stars for the food. If I had to complain it would be that not enough people are supporting them as there were only three customers on a Friday night! Yes I know the silly flashing Christmas lights in the window can be quite annoying and the fact that they don't have any proper round bowls to eat out of makes eating rice with chop sticks challenging. But this should not put you off as the Chinese buffet is well worth it! Oh just don't order the tempura sesame chicken "it's just toast with sesame seeds on it!" Serious not sure what is up with that!

My partner and I moved from Tableview to Monte Vista recently. We've been to Jacky's at least 4 times already for take aways! Will definitely be back, maybe this time round for their sit down buffet menu!

The chow mein, both beef and chicken, was very dry, and bland, needed more soya sauce or something. The sweet and sour pork sauce was basically just vinegar. There were no veggies in the dishes at all. The honey chicken is what I know sweet and sour chicken to be, definitely not honey chicken. Prawn chips are extremely fishy and strange tasting. Won't be going there again.

It was very average. Food was oily. We also had that experience with the sushi. You had to eat it all. It's nonsense. At 're end of meal I got something chicken y from buffet with tendon on it and had to run for toilet to be ill. Won't go there again. They need to raise their game

Did buffet and sushi tonight. The sushi selection covered all the bases for any sushi lover, Tasted good and fresh. The Chinese buffet had a good selection and was tasty (non traditional but still good). The menu doesnt change and would recommend having a few changing dishes to keep the menu interesting,

Very bad service received at this place tonight. Paid for a buffet sushi and when ordering was advised that the Manager is raising her eyebrows when ordering a large order for a table of 6 people. Unacceptable service received as the sushi took so long to be brought to us. Raised the issue with the Manager and she was on the defensive and didn't listen to what we had to say. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place however if you're okay with waiting forever for your food to arrive and receiving mediocre service, then this is the place for you.

What happened to the restaurant I knew and loved? Food is cold and the sushi has canned tuna in it. However this review is not based on the quality of the food, instead what put the last nail in the coffin was the absolutely terrible service we received. While I understand and acknowledge that a buffet can have a wastage policy, I was absolutely flabbergasted by how we were treated for leaving a single piece of sushi on our plates. Since the sushi was made using canned tuna, I decided to forego finishing my second piece and settled on honey chicken instead. However when we returned to our table with said honey chicken, the waiter told said "Can you not waste". I immediately offered to pay for the sushi, but I was told to take the piece and put it back on my plate. No acknowledgement of my offer to pay excess for this offending piece, instead like a 4th grader being scolded by a parent I was told to take it. And those were the actual word used in a gruff tone "The sushi, take it". Well we left immediately, disgusted by the service and never intending to return to a venue that force feeds it's customers canned tuna sushi.

This restaurant failed on every level. The food was cold and dry, and the service was appauling. After realizing the sushi was made with canned tuna and the sweet and sour pork was just fried dough, we made peace that some of this food wasn't good, but we still really liked the honey chicken, but when we got back to the table with our second helping, the waiter informed us that we can not waste. So we politely offered to pay for the single peice of sushi we didn't eat, but the waiter forced us to take the sushi, which at this point had absorbed 4 different sauces, and put it on the new plate. We got up, paid, and left. Wasn't worth the effort to complain. Would not recommend.

Standard lazy cooking day meal in our house. On certain days the food can be a bit oily but over all,we keep going back! The food is decent, the price is fair and the owners and staff are mad friendly. Like I said, we keep going back, I say yes.

Tried them out for the first time last week after it being recommended. Haven't had Chinese food that tasted this good for the price in a long time. Food was great and had minimal oil which is perfect. Pricing is great and they also offer a buffet. What more do you need?

With no inclination to cook, and being in the surrounding area, I stopped at Jackys for some food. Their menu is your standard Asian take away cuisine but some great offers here and there. I chose the Meal for one, which is Egg fried rice, sweet and pork, chop suey and a spring roll(big enough for two people). The food was tasty and the batter for the pork was crispy. Waiting time is slightly long and sushi is overpriced but other than that, most dishes are value for money.

My husband and I have been frequenting Jacky’s since the time they were in Panorama, and now Bothasig. We are very impressed with their current sushi buffet, they now have much more variety than before. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The ambience is great, the food is excellent, they never disappoint. This is one of our favourite restaurants in Cape Town. Excellent value for money, highly recommended.

First time trying Jackies on a recommendation. Unfortunately did not live up to the hype. Beef with black bean sauce was good. Sweet and sour pork was average as well as the chicken chow mein. Springrolls consisting of mainly pastry and cabbage. Sushi was dissappoint, fish was not fresh, had a bone in it. Would not order from here again, sadly.

Jacky's Chinese Restaurant is located in Bothasig. It is an all-you-can-eat Chinese and Sushi buffet restaurant. They have regular specials on the buffets serving anything from Sushi, California rolls to dishes like chop suey and chow mein. A few of us from work ordered a couple of dishes as take aways. The Chicken Chow Mein was loaded with marinated chicken, vegetables and plenty of noodles. The flavours were good but I found the noodle too thick for my liking. The Beef in black been sauce was enjoyable with a delicious balance of flavours. It is not very authentic Chinese but is a good choice if you are in the area and you are looking for a big meal.

I had been recommended Jacky's and tried them before. We had the beef and black bean and chicken chow mein (So SA cliche!!). I wasn't a fan as I've had better. I mean it's ok, but it's not wow!! The container had already falling apart. Why do Resturants use these forsaken containers. I mean, there is a liquid people and it spills everywhere. Why not use a container with a lid?!? Food is ok and to be honest I've had better. They have a buffet but I'll stick with my other favorite place in Sunset Beach.

Ok so we went to Jacky's tonight for supper. Quite honestly is was very fair. It was R109 per head for adults and R59 for the kids. It included a Chinese buffet and a limited sushi menu. The sushi was nice and fresh but the buffet was not palatable at all. Everything was oily fried or floating in sauce. Would I go back, I don't think so.

Been one of my favourite restaurants while still studying culinary and they were in the plattekloof centre. So we decided its time for tradition to continue. Food was fresh and tasty ... sweet and sour pork divine ... was very happy with the fact that we could order sushi from menu - anything from vegetarian to smoked salmon. Made me remember why i fell in love with this restaurant all those years ago.
