Review Cahokia Spur Steak Ranch - Cape Town Central

The best spur to go to in the whole of SA hands down. Friendly staff that will greet you even if not serving you. Food always good and prepared as specified (when ordering steak). Haven't tried the breakfast yet but pretty much everything else. Service sometimes slow but they are also usually busy. Seating comfortable. Bathrooms clean. Kid friendly. Smoker friendly. Good setup for a family with good pricing.

Went there on 1 August 2022 for lunch. The wait to be served was a bit long even though our section was not filled (no other customers until a few minutes after we sat). We were served by someone on training which wasn't a problem. After taking our order (drinks and food) we waited some time for our drinks to come. I specifically stated no onion rings with my chicken and buffalo wings and still received the onion rings, but I didn't send the plate back, I finished my plate exept the onion rings (might have been the trainee's first time). Perhaps I should have corrected her when she asked if everything is fine, but I didn't want to make a fuss about something that I didn't ask for, they can just throw it out. I enjoyed my cosmopolitan (didn't taste like a real cosmopolitan as it was very sweet). I must say, the meals came quicker than the drinks (straight after we got the drinks). They do have a smoking area as well as a play area. I'd advise the staff to rather double check the order (which they do but usually still get something wrong, in my experience as customer who does go to Spur often). Regardless of the above, I'd still recommend this branch if you'd like to eat some lekker food and drink. The staff is friendly but a teeny bit slow.

Review amended/ added Review update: with the apparent SANTACO action and multitude roads being vandalised and disrupted, my wife and I could find our way through for a doctor's physical and physiotherapy in two different suburbs, trying to avoid some of the mainly affected areas. I want to commend our waitron at Cahokia Spur, even an hour after Breakfast was over, She arranged with management to organise us a meal each for my wife and I. She acted on her feet, made a rational decision and stuck to her promised word. Shaken by the ordeal we went through, I did not get her name. To the Manager/Owner, this is what I call service. True to her word she delivered. This is service Par Excellence. She took our Spur card number. This is what we as an elderly couple appreciate very much. Be blessed. Adele thank you for excellent service. You made this a memorable day for four old pensioners. Your timing and assertiveness keeping meals warm as some of us still had to go into different directions, unscheduled, but kept track of each of our wants. Your diligence and empathy is sincerely appreciated. Needless to say the pensioner special has become our specialty and taste, as well as portion, has not been compromised, a wonderful gesture from Spur to the elderly, much appreciated.

I booked to have my birthday party on the 21st and it was a wonderful experience at spur. The positive energy and amazing service will be remembered by all those that joined my birthday party. Niel did an amazing job managing and arranging for the party as well as checking on my guest who has a health condition and cannot eat gluten. Thank you for taking care of my guests. A huge shout-out to Edrick and the other guy who joined for photos. Your amazing service and positive vibe really made my guests smile and all the orders were met with a smile from both sides. Thank you spur for allowing my 28th birthday party to be such a positive memorable one.

Went there with my daughter for dinner on Thursday night, had a lovely waiter named Lee. Lee was a very awesome man and had a great vibe. The manager, Niel, came to us and checked on us, making sure we were having a super time! Gave my daughter a fistpump! Even got myself a compliment 🤣. Really recommend this place. Lovely people and amazing food!

I love love love love going to this Spur.The atmosphere is amazing;my kids feel right at home and we feel like part of the family. Without a doubt one of my favourite places to be. Thank you for always making us feel like part of the family

We had an unpleasant surprise with one of our drinks. Fast and attentive action from our waitress (Lauren), and managers (Neil and Phillip) more than made up for it. Kids even received a complimentary dessert and lucky packet. Service was exceptional!

Awesome, friendly service and delicious food! My husband and I enjoyed our date night. PS: We loved those edible straws!

First time going there, and I would go back again. Loved everything about this Spur.

Breakfast was super nice and lattes where well made. Toddler play section didnt look very inviting and clean so we didn't let our 11month play there.

At the end of June I visited this Spur, it was nearly filled to capacity but the service, efficiency and food was outstanding. I applaud management for ensuring their team members are correctly trained and that patrons receive the only the best from them. You guys rock, please keep up the excellent work you are appreciated for it💞

Good food,good people and the atmosphere was just amazing...we really got world class service from Gabriel the waiter ,we even went back there on the Monday and received excellent service from Jennifer....Cahokia spur is just simply amazing...

Had a great experience at spur with my family, the food was excellent except for the kidies chicken strips that tasted like it was prepared in fish crumbs. Otherwise everything was excellent, the waitress Anthea was professional and friendly. That's why I refrained from making a fuss about the kiddies chicken strips.....Ps. Oh! And do something about the lightning in thr restaurant, I can't even see my bill at the end of my meal lol.

Yesterday morning was so upset bad service. I waited 30 minutes for my pot of tea and 10 minutes for a glass of water and when I ask my waiter why my food is taking so long she replied we making everything from scratch ���thanks for bad service you should train your staff better service delivery

Amazing service from our waiter, didnt get her name tho...we celebrated my sister 50th breakfast there, they allowed us to have our champayne there, even brought us glasses, ice & everthing we needed..side plates, knifes to eat our birthday cake...but staff was awesome, definitly go there again

I have been to this spur now for the pass 3 weeks once a week thinking it's going to be better each time... the first time I went to spur my chips was not even done it was white and cold and had to wait 10min to get other chips and not to speak about the ribs... the second time I went I was hungry and wand breakfast my family and I thought we will go to spur as it's going to be nice our food came in dirty plates and my mom had bubble gum under her one... then last night omw not only was the food cold be people that came after us got there food before us I had stuff floating in my cold drink how the waiter did not see that I'm not sure and my sister did not get ice I'm in her cold drink so all we asked was for the ice and lemon and waited 10 to 15min for that... this is bad I don't even think a one star is okay I shouldn't even give a star. I'm done with the spur

The most pathetic restaurant I have seen in a long time. Waited for 45 minutes before we received a waiter to assist us. There were at least 9 waiters walking past us but non of them asked us if they could assist. None of the staff was friendly or welcoming when walking past. The manager also yelled on his waiter in front of us. I think all of the staff members must go on sales training as this is unacceptable and the standard is pathetic! Just because you live in South Africa does not mean you can act like you want to. I am a client that pays towards someone salary when came to your restaurant so treat me like I deserve to be treated or I am taking my business somewhere else.

My experience started on 27 Dec 2017, my husband and myself decided to go for a good meal at Spur Cape Gate as we were both super tired and did not feel like cooking... I had the T-Bone Steak and Wings Combo, as I was eating I came across a piece of plastic in the meat I was chewing! I brought it under the attention of the waiter who apologized. The manager also came to say "Sorry about that, these things sometimes do happen!" I told him its fine. Two days later 29 Dec 2017 my son, my husband and myself went to Spur Cape Gate for Breakfast. We ordered, got our drinks and when the food arrived we found hair in the scrambled eggs, again the manager came and apologized and said that the kitchen has been ordered to make a fresh batch of scrambled eggs and that was it! Last night 15 Jan 2018 we decided to take our son out as School will be starting tomorrow! Again I ordered the T-Bone Steak and Wings, My Husband the Mowak Combo and My Son a Chicken burger... As the food arrived I got and offish smell and thought maybe somebody was cleaning the bathrooms as we were seated close to it. But as I continued the smell became more potent. I told my husband that something was not smelling to good and asked if he was getting the same smell. He told me yes and that someone may be cleaning the bathrooms. As I took a bite of the Steak I realized it was OFF! and that it was the steak that was smelling so bad!!!!!!!! I called the manager and he took the plate from me and said: "I'm sorry, sometime the meat on the 21 day cycle is missed, but we will prepare you a fresh meal if that is okay with you? and have it out as soon as possible" I agreed and waited. By the time my husband and son finished their meals I had still not gotten a fresh meal! We called our waiter and told him that I no longer want the food as my family are done eating and ready to leave so he could bring the bill. The manager did not even bother to return to the table to apologize for the replacement meal taking a half hour!!!!!!!! 30 MINS!!! I was so upset! I told my husband that I never want to eat at Spur again. The level of service received was not up to standard i am really disgusted by the food and managers

Not very organized. Dee, our waitress was not very helpful and had a bit of an attitude, otherwise ok... Oh and the tables on the wooden deck is not nice with children stomping around

Het na n halfuur my eie waiter gaan soek aangesien niemand ons kom help het nie. Het n koeldrank saam met my kos bestel, maar dit gekry toe ek klaar ge eet het. Wag op die oomblik 45 min net vir n doggy bag en my rekening. Ek het n baie oulike nuwe waitress wat my help, maar dit lyk of sy letterlik nog 20 tafels bedien. Kan julle asb nog mense aanstel vir oor die naweek. Dis belaglik.

Vandag wil ek vir almal by Cape Gate spur bedank vir die jaar. Ek voel deel van die spur familie. Zelda dankie girl vir jou wonderlike diens deur die jaar saam met my gedeel in my hartseer tyd saam gelag. Niell dankie vir jou ook. Aan almal van jullegeseende kersfees.

I stay in the Southern Suburbs but when I'm in the Northern Suburbs I will not miss the opportunity to eat at the #Cahokia Spur Steak Ranch. Excellent service from attentive staff.

I can't remember the last time I had a good experience at Spur (all branches), but like a bad habit we keep going back.<br/><br/>So I was pleasantly surprised by the Spur in Cape Gate. The service received was top notch. I ordered the kids Mac and Cheese for the baby which she really loved, and to be honest so did I. It reminded me of my mom's Mac and Cheese. My daughter and I had cheddermelt burgers, the burgers weren't overcooked and the chips and onion rings portion was decent. And the onion rings didn't have that dark brown, cooked in old oil look and taste to then.<br/><br/>The best meal though, was surprisingly, my wife's enchiladas. They tasted really good.<br/><br/>Still not fine dining, but the best Spur experience I have had in years.

Waited a long while before anyone came to take our drink order. After that the service was okay.<br/><br/>The food... same as all Spur's food. Really like to starter combos, I had it for a main.
