Review Seoul Restaurant - Cape Town Central

I love this place. Every time I miss Korea I come to this place. I love it more in winter though coz of the soups and hot and spicy food. The staff and owners are super friendly and my kids feel free there. The food is AMAZING to say the least. Their prices are also cheaper than the other Korean restaurants in Cape Town even though I think it's a tad bit expensive for my pocket but the food is so worth every cent. My family and I are regulars. I give it 4.5 only because I think they should add ventilators or something coz sometimes it smells stuffy maybe because of the smoke from the Korean barbeque? I'm not sure. But it definitely needs a bit of fresh air. Other than that I never have any complaints. Love it to bits!

Really great Korean food. Pictures of kalbi and soon tobu jigae (spicy tofu soup) and fried ice cream 10/10 and the employees were attentive and the owner happened to be there and he was so hospitable. I wish I found place earlier. The banchan (side dishes) were delicious and I appreciated that it came with the meal like it should! Clean and fresh place. Highly recommend.

Serves the best Korea food in South Africa. Food is extraordinary and packs a big spicy punch. Definitely come here if you have a cold. Price is a bit on the high side but is certainly worth it.

Great food. Great service. Sweet and friendly owner who made an effort explaining meals. Clean and well priced. Well worth a visit :)

Good place to try some authentic Korean food. Just very pricey so be prepared to spend a lot or leave the restaurant still hungry.

Absolutely loved the service and the setting. Had the chicken hot pot which was delicious as well as the stone pot bibimbap

Great food and the staff it was amazing. We really enjoyed the time and the food there

Great experience! The food was amazing and exactly what I wanted from a Korean place. Service could be improved but still not a problem. We started with some dumplings then moved to bibimpap all of it great. Finishing with the shaved ice we tried a few the red bean was by far the best option we had. I slightly over indulged 3 course meal for two at R700 is fine in my books

I've been living in Korea for the past six years and always find the food at Korean restaurants abroad somewhat underwhelming and flavorless with too much fusion with the local food culture and trends. Not the case when dining at this great restaurant. Very authentic Korean food and the flavors were pretty spot on. A huge selection of dishes to try, reasonably priced and helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely be back for more when visiting SA in the future. Well done!

I really enjoyed the food and the service was great! I'd definitely go back.

What a gem of a restaurant! First time eating Korean food and I was blown away. Very humble and unpretentious. Very easy to feel right at home. Waitor was exceptional! Will definitely be back! Especially for their kimchi soup!

Food is authentic + delicious, they even have no problem making something vegan and service is out standing and super friendly, it's a more pricy place. Very recommended!

It was my first time trying a Korean dish that I did not cook myself. And I enjoyed it. I was a little intimidated when I didn’t see a fork on the table but since this is a new experience I used the tools provided. I will need to return to try out their bibimbap and some desert.

A Lovely place to have dinner for my birthday!

I recently just visited the restaurant for the first time and i must say that the service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious! The service was quick and was accompanied by many side dishes. All the staff were very friendly and explained the dishes as they arrived. The manager/ owner was very friendly and generous. Will definitely be back soon.

Food was amazing ! I’d recommend it to anyone.
The place is absolutely chill and the service is excellent 👌 . Definitely going back there again soon 👍👍👍

Worst Korean food ever! And I have visited many. In my opinion this is all made from the tins and Korean fast food grocery dishes. So called seafood with noodles insists of the overcooked 1 kgs of noodles, 1 ltr of tasteless broth, two mussels and two shrimps. All other main dishes are sweet! Service slow. Shame for all Koreans in SA. Don't go.

Was excited to try out Korean cuisine but found the prices and portion sizes very disappointing. Tried the seafood pancake (was probably 10-15cm in size) and it was bland. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork, bbq chicken and spicy chilli chicken (they were in a normal sized soup dish of like 10-15cm) and they tasted really good. I enjoyed the experience of getting to try Korean food but don't think I can afford to come back. We left hungry and didn't want to spend more money on buying extra food just to fill us.

The food was great, as authentic as you could get in SA. The waiter was friendly and the setting was comfortable. It was a little dark in the room where we were sitting though.

Having never had Korean cuisine before, a friend of mine who had travelled extensively through the country suggested we visit Seoul in Seapoint for me to experience it for the first time.
When we got in we were at first quite concerned as the restaurant was completely empty - which is usually a very good sign or a very bad one. Nonetheless, we decided to stay and give it a try.

For the meal we ordered the Bibim bap and BBQ Chicken and I have to say both were absolutely fantastic. The chicken was wonderfully tender and juicy whilst the bibim bap had a really great spiciness to it that I loved.

What a pleasure that my first experience was a good one and I will definitely be back to visit and try more of the menu again in future

Came here on Saturday night because I'm moving to Korea and decided I needed to try Korean food. I strongly recommend the kimchi dumplings (not too burny) and the potato pancake (a highlight for the whole group) as well as the pork dumplings. All very nice and went down well.
The deep fried ice cream also went down well for dessert.
The service, while friendly and affable, was slow as there was only one waiter on duty.

Heard about this places food so we decided to go try it out! We got there and had to seat ourselves after the owner saw us but didn't even bother to acknowledge us. we waited and waited for about 20min and still the owner didn't even bother to come serve us, and it was empty. We decide to just leave and the owner stared us out the door. What a pity ...

The last time I had Korean food was 12 years ago when I was living in Asia so I have no idea if it tastes authentic but surely it tastes nice.so there is nothing to complain about the food. The price is a lil pricy but since I can't find Korean restaurants in Durban so I'm willing to pay ...

I am absolutely IN LOVE with Seoul Restaurant!

The place has an unassuming ambience that immediately makes you feel at home and relaxed. Their resident waiter is also super helpful and all round great guy.

My favorite dishes have to be the BBQ chicken (sweet, spicy and sticky!), the vegetable glass noodles (a smokey, sesame and soy flavour) and the spicy chewy rice cakes (a cylindrical type chewy rice cake which is super spicy with a boiled egg, cabbage and seafood and meat bits)... I can also recommend getting their fluffy egg fried rice to soak up all the left over sauces! My boyfriend tried the beef glass noodles and my brother ordered the seafood dong noodles which they both said was delicious.

A word of warning! A lot of the food is very spicy and hot! If you're a great lover of this you must try the spicy kimchi soup.. however do ask the waiter which food is spicy and which is not!

What I also love is that main dishes are accompanied by sides which can vary. I LOVE their kimchi and their pickled spicy cucumber!

The dishes were delicious and we were not disappointed. The restaurant needs a revamp but the food made up for it. Service was decent and the waiter was friendly.

Really nice food with plenty of options to choose from. For a treat make sure you book the tables where you can fry your food, there are only two tables that can

I've been at this restaurant many times and love to taste these exquisite textures and tastes of this Asian cuisine. I'm all instances I've enjoyed their quality of food and I've found their service attentive and friendly.

It's in my neck of the woods and although I'm generally quite at raw in the kitchen, I don't know this cuisine to attempt to cook at home, yet I enjoying thoroughly when I feel trying something different

I certainly recommend this restaurant.

If you're not used to Korean food you'll probably love this restaurant, but I found that they altered the recipes for the sweet South African palate, which was quite disappointing. Their kimchi was quite good, but their Bulgogi was far too sweet. I won't go back unless they promise to give me the authentic food that their family probably eats after hours.

Before I start, let me give you a short introduction of myself:
I am Korean and as a frequent traveller I have been to a lot of Korean restaurants all over the world and once in a while, a korean guy needs Korean food.

The owner (?) did not seem to have any interest in his customers, putting the poor waiter (he was really nice and welcoming) in a unpleasant position at certain busy situations, f.e. when serving and bringing the various dishes to the tables.

I must admit that the main dishes were in general quiet authentic and tasty, HOWEVER the portions were very small related to the price. Usually the portions at korean restaurants are big, e.g. you can easily share 2 main dishes with 3 people. Our two "sea food" dishes contained only a few mussles and octupus. Moreover, the pancakes were super small, thin, and do not justify 80 ZAR. Korean pancakes are usually bigger and contain more vegetables.
The samgobysal (Korean grilled bacon slices) were too dry and the sesam oil was missing for the dipping. Furthermore, the side dishes were alright, but the Kimchi was lacking on several basic ingredients like garlic or shrimp paste.

In sum the Seoul restaurant needs to improve significantly. Korean food is comparably tedious in the preparation, but 80 ZAR for a small pancake (proclaimed as main dish) or 110 ZAR for a mini-plate is ridiculous.

Found this restaurant under recommendation from a friend on good Asian food in CT that didn't require a booking on a Friday night at 9pm.
This was my first authentic experience of Korean food. I had the BBQ chicken which was a nicely sized portion of spicy, sweet marinade on chicken tenders.
It's not the most lavish spot but the food is pretty good.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. We went there for a friend's birthday and everyone grilled their own meat on portable grills on the table. Not being a meat eater, I ordered a spicy tofu soup. It was pricey, over R100, but I got rice, kimchi, cucumber salad and I think one other side dish with it as well. It was absolutely mouthwatering delicious! I don't think I ate much Korean food before, but I love spicy food in general. And this soup was really worth the money. I had a glass of house cabernet sauvignon with it and I have to say it was also one of the nicest house wines I have had in a long time. Pity I can't remember the name. I don't think it was the one listed on this menu. I highly recommend this place for a bit of an up-market Korean experience.

Had a great experience at @Seoul during the week. Thai and Korean food is one of my favourites so to have found this little gem was a nice surprise for me 😊

The food is unbelievably good. So fresh and full of flavour. I had the Korean style chilli paste chicken which was to die for.

The service is good and the menu is well priced.

I love the fact that you have a choice between ordering from the Thai or Korean menus.

Excellent food, we tried the Korean rice omelette and the kimchi and tofu as well as the dolsot bibimbap and also the Korean maki! Everything was like the last time we were in
Seoul ROK!

Seoul is my favourite Korean restaurant in cape town. Found this gem when I stayed in sea point last year. I recommend the sweet and sour pork and the kimchi steamed dumplings!

What an amazing meal. As close to authentic Korean cuisine one will get in SA. The rice cakes were particularly good. We really enjoyed our mains; the galbi and pork belly.pleasant staff as well. Left feeling very satisfied.

We are a South African Chinese family & we love Asian cuisine. My daughter lived in Korea for a year. We have been to Galbi In Long Street but didn't find this to be authentic. So we decided to try out Seoul. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. This is authentic Korean cuisine. It is more upmarket abd pricey -but the quality of the food is good. Bibim Bap - excellent @R105, BBQ chicken R95 - recommend - spicy fried calamari R129, seafood pancake R89. We ordered 9 dishes & 2 pots of tea. Total bill R850 excl tip. We did think that the tea was overpriced @R20 a pot. Service was good &; the restaurant is very clean. Seoul will be relocating-but still on Main Rd Seapoint. We look forward to trying out the Korean bbq at the new location.

Good food at decent price. Did not wait too long for the food. Service could be better especially to explain the different dishes available. The food is not for the faint hearted as it is very spicy!

Quality food, decent variety, friendly service. The only complaint was my friend had calamari that was a bit chewy. Vibey and spacious setting.

One of my favourite Korean restaurant in town.
Lovely authentic Korean food that is decently sized.
They could cater for both spicy and non-spicy taste.
Lovely warm atmosphere inside the restaurant.
Only downfall is that I always have difficulty looking for a parking.
