Review Mex It Up - Cape Town Central

Apr 27: This is a small outlet seerving mexican food in the Market on the Wharf. The food quality is the winner here. The ingredients seemed fresh and tasty and while different food use basically the same ingredients, it was good. We had almost everything in veg - enchiladas, quesadillas, tacos, nachos and burritos. Everything comes with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Only the burritos didn't feel so good cos of the thick tortilla. But otherwise, very good food.

Excellent service with a smile. Amazing nachos and jalapeño poppers

Great taco, the best I've eaten outside of Texas or Mexico and I've eaten a lot of tacos. Great to find good mexican food in South Africa. People were friendly and prices cheap too. I wish it was more than a food court stand, but either way its good food.

Amazing food! Make sure and try the naked burrito for a low carb option! Love it!

Hands down best food stall at the V&A. Their veg burritos are insanely good.

Simply the best Mexican we've had this side of Mexico. We make sure to visit about once a week ...all the way from Noordhoek

Had a lovely chicken burrito at Mex It Up, friendly staff and the wait wasn’t too long. The burrito was Spicy and the added toppings were fresh. I will definitely return in future.

When it comes to Mexican food, I'm really picky. I cannot stand the Taco Bell/ American standard of Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food here was. Not only did they prefer my enchilada fast, but it was really flavorful. I honestly would give them a 5/5 but they had run out of beef that day so my boyfriend was kind of bummed. I ordered a veggie enchilada and it was really great. This is definitely a win in my eyes!

Tried some quesadillas and chilli poppers. Absolutely amazing, a true Mexican experience. If you are planning to visit the V&A food market, stop at Mex it Up.

Food looks good but not so tasty. Lacked salt and flavour. Great service though.
I loved this place! Super quick and friendly service and the food was awesome too!

The food market is full of gems, and Mex it up can proudly say they're one of them. I had the beef and chicken Taco, they were both great however I favour the chicken. I have been to places like El burro taqueria and I find that they don't use Taco shells but rather are exactly the same as their quesidillas.

Mex it up doesn't exactly have a shell either, but there is a distinct difference between the various traditional Mexican foods which i like. The enchiladas were also yum!

I had their chilli popper and I have to say that I was disappointed. It was completely cold inside which means the cheese wasn't melted. I think this is due to their method of cooking the poppers. I'll be returning to give some of their other options a go

I had the beef taco and then went back for another. A bit messy to eat but I enjoyed the fresh, simple flavours. Affordable and delicious light meal.

This little shop operating in the V&A food market serves up amazing mexican food! The staff is absolutely friendly and efficient, so you're not waiting for a long time to get your food. They are reasonably priced for the quality of food that you get. Definitely give the chicken enchilada a try!

The lady serving us was so friendly and helpful with pronunciations for the dishes. She was also good at recommending the dishes to try. The food didn't take too long and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious!

Winner. Love Mexican food and discovered this little gem of a joint. Fairly reasonably priced as far as V&A food goes.
The two of us shared a chicken quesadilla, beef taco and chicken enchilada. Fillings were generous, as were the lashings of tomato, lettuce and guacamole. We left feeling stuffed without feeling ripped off. Would happily return next time we're in CPT.

If you want Mexican food in Cape Town it's really between Panchos, Fat Cactus and Mex It Up. The last entry has one distinct benefit and that is that it is Mexican food prepared by an actual Mexican. No seriously, from Mexico and moved to SA. I discovered this place entirely by accident but have since been there so many times I'm considering asking for shares in the business.

The food itself is wonderful (read: not swimming in oil) and you can have it as spicy as you want. On top of that the owner is sure to be in a good mood and always happy to accommodate. Awesome value for money and generally speedy service make this a regular for me. Order the quesadilla if you want a safe bet.

This hidden restaurant is easy to miss. Located at the Cape Town Waterfront. I had the chicken enchiladas with the spicy hot sauce and they were amazing! Best I've had in Cape Town. The owner Flor is also very kind. Definitely a must taste!
