Consistently good. Try this hidden gem out once and you’ll be back for more. More of a take away spot but lovely for a casual meal with friends. Samoosas are a must!

I moved from the area about 13 years ago and in that time regularly had dinner at Curry Quest.
I had to be in Mowbray and my first thought was "I need Curry Quest!"
They did not disappoint! Still the same good quality and amazing tasting curry!
I need to find more excuses to go to Mobray!

if you want a curry you wont go wrong

Varni makes traditional Durban curries with spices brought in from KZN. The hospitality is warm and welcoming.

I just bought a take away on Friday night about 15 min before closing. I found them all to be very friendly and helpful.
I bought a Bunny Chow for myself and curry and rice for my wife.
The food tasted absolutely great. The best curry ever.

As per the other reviews, great Durban style curry. I mostly get take away, not the greatest romantic sit down environment, especially for dinner. Food is relatively spicy, but that's how I like it. Vegetables are also curried so I normally order sambals as an accomliment.

We had an amazing Durban style curry experience at Curry Quest (on the corner of Main Road and Mains Avenue).
Please do support Vani and her team at their new location and show them some love!!

Lamb Bunny chow was tasty except for the meat which was a bit tough this time around. Other than that, the overall experience was a good one.

The curry was exceptional. The bunny chow was sublime. They're quite pricey but well worth ir when you sit down and savor their fantastic fare.

The chicken briyani was delicious. Food prepared in advance so all options may not be available. But really good portion - order a large😃. Will definitely go again.

Hi Please be aware that that the Menu posted on this site is very outdated possibly to 2014. This was brought to my attention by a customer not sure how Zamato will fix :-(
Curry Quest does not and will not serve any Pork or Beef dishes due to the owners own religious and cultural beliefs .

Awesome spicy curry mince, at just the right heat, a bit of cooling raita and lovely soft melt in your mouth rotis will definitely be back to have it all again

The food was tasty, and was served very quickly. The prices are also very reasonable and it would make a great spot to pick up lunch during the work week

I have been to Curry Quest on numerous occasions. Generally the Lamb curry is pretty great (on the bone, off the bone is dry), unless they are running low, in which case, on one particular occasion, I suspect they added a mystery liquid while they were in the back of the shop in order to eke out two servings. It was disgusting.

My experience of the Butter Chicken was no better than that of a decent store bought cook-in-sauce. The Roti is/are ok, but as another reviewer remarked, they do have a tendency to be a bit raw.

The final thing I have to report on is the customer service. It's so, so bad. The people behind the counter are seemingly surrounded by a heavy lingering aura of job dissatisfaction. It's as if someone is forcing them to work there. They don't smile, or make any effort of any kind at any stage of the interaction to be genial. A highly unpleasant customer experience. It is because of this that I have stopped going altogether.

Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Probably the best indian food in Bundaberg. Tastes like indian food actually should. I haven't eaten in but they do takeaway and delivery so that's useful

I was so unhappy as I came to your curry quest restaurant today on 18 October 2016. I could not go and sit down at 3:41pm but only have take always. Your staff were being weird but could not explain to me the proper procedure. Please can you as the owner be easy but not different because I am not difficult to no one.

This place has horrible service. The food is nothing special very average. Avoid if you can. There are many better places in Cape Town that serve quality Indian food.

The curry is really fabulous at this little place but I would recommend that you save this one for take aways only. The restaurant is tiny, with no atmosphere and the decor.... well.... there isn't any😂
Not a pleasant place to have a relaxed indulgent meal.

I went to Curry Quest on a Monday night for a take-away butter chicken and roti. Although the staff were ok the food is terrible. The roti was thick and raw and the butter chicken watery. I can make better butter chicken in my sleep. I really do not recommend this place although I must say I haven't tried any of their other dishes.

Best curry in CPT! Curry Quest takes me back to my days in KZN bunny chow's:)
Unfortunately the lady who runs it and the staff aren't very friendly?

Let's be honest, the decor and vibe inside Curry Quest leaves a lot to be desired.

But the curry ... oh the curry! We get take outs from here at least once every two weeks. We're both from Durban, and this is Durban curry which fulls all those cravings. I always get the fish. It's tender, the portion size is good and it's got just the right amount of flavour vs. heat. My husband loves the bunny chows, and swear by them (especially boneless mutton).

Sadly they don't always have everything so it's good to call ahead, but I've tried the veggie options and prawn and none have disappointed. Be sure to grab a few samosas as well - just for the drive home!

This place is all about the killer bunny chow, although I suspect they may have some other Durban staples on the menu. A mate from Durban swears by Curry Quest, which is generally a good sign that the place is legit.

Great value for money. This place is cheap cheap for lunch takeaways. R25 for a 1/4 veg bunny, you can't beat that. The takeaway food is prepared fresh every day and best of all the are VEGAN FRIENDLY. I have been there at least 5 times and never disappointed with the vegetable takeaways.

I had a craving for Butter Chicken and my friend mentioned Curry Quest. We managed to pick up two reasonable meals for R84. It wasn't massive but it was yummy. I don't stay in the area but will stop by again when I am

Best curry this side of the Indian Ocean. A gem of a place that never disappoints with affordable fantastic consistent hot curry. Try their lamb on the bone, the chicken biryani or the butter chicken - all fantastic 😅
Conrad Jonck
I stopped for takeaways, I felt the service to be uninterested and the atmosphere lacking (It was shortly after 6). The biryani was really good though and worth a second visit.

what a dissapointment! Although not that expensive, the portions are very small. Ater eating a sit down meal which looked like a starter (lamb curry), i decided to order a lamb breyani as well to take home for supper. During my meal at the restaurant two beggars came to the door and started shouting at the clients that they also wanted some food. The management turned a blind eye to this. As i walked back to my car one of the beggars followed me and demanded food and wanted to know why i could not give him my take-away. When i had the breyani at home i was again dissapointed at the portion being so small. Also, the meat in the breyani tasted like it was from the day before. This place will not see me again.

Decided to check out Curry Quest because it is in my area. Being Indian and from Durban I am well aware of what good Indian food is. Curry Quest was simply not that.

The food is cooked at some point and then remains on display all day so don't expect "freshly prepared" anything. In spite of that I ordered two dishes to give them a fair chance. After eating both I can say with confidence that the only thing more tasteless than the food were attitudes of the owner/staff members who assisted me. They were about as friendly as the British when they invaded India.

That aside there are slim pickings for Indian food in Cape Town below the price range of Bihari or Bukhara. Curry Quest while affordable is nowhere near the standard. I would highly recommend shelling out the extra money or trying anywhere else.

If you want a very quick and very good meal I highly recommend this place, I often walk down here to pic up a meal for only R45 in seconds flat.

If you like a no fuss curry fix, at a fraction of the cost of some bigger well known places, then Curry Quest hits the right spot everytime. I discovered this little restaurant while walking past them one day....entering the restaurant you are welcomed by a colorful bright orange interior. All very neatly laid out with a small counter from where you can place takeout orders. For sit down, they only have a few tables, very small but in a good way! By now, I am a regular visitor and I have tried most menu items. Their Roti's, curry/rice are always fresh and delicious! Another must have, is the all time South African favorite... Bunny Chow. Your choice of a quarter or half portion - but be warned, the half is a huge portion, but so worth it! My conclusion: Very affordable, what you see is what you get, with a simple effective menu and good service.A typical local curry joint worth visiting all seasons.
Jody Harris
This is my favorite informal curry "joint" the food is excellent and well priced. I would recommend this place.
