Review Mixa's Schwarma - Cape Town Central

The place has a good vibe, nice 80s music as well. The place is undergoing some renovation so not the best experience. The guy that took our order said that the food would take 15mins but it took 30mins instead, so not so happy about that. The food itself was delicious! The burgers tasted pretty good, but the margeherita pizza was one of the best I have ever tasted! Stop by for some great pizza!

Great service. Awesome happy hour specials. Nice local pub

The place is very beautiful in terms of furniture, and I tried chicken pasta and pizza for the second time, very tasty

We were really excited to eat some shwarmas, only to find out that they don't do shwarmas anymore. We ordered a pizza however and it was very nice! Nice atmosphere and a good place to go for beers

The best place to be on the planet

Their margherita pizzas are the best in town.

Love going here for after work drinks or Saturday afternoon pizza and beer. It's like the sitcom Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. The staff are friendly and will make you feel right at home and the food is great too. The portion sizes are also great. Love this place.

Awesome place, good food, affordable, nice sitting outside, great location.

I recently joined a biker group who frequently visit on Thursdays we visited Mixa's. The mix of young, old, pensioner and hipster keeps conversation interesting. My favourites on the menu are the nachos and cheese or the Mixa burger. Great place to let your hair down and you can smoke inside and out, but be patient as the wait for your is about 25 to 40 minutes wait as this is a very popular venue but worth the wait the owner and staff are very friendly. The kitchen and bar are open till 11pm.

This was my local once upon a time. A happy hour from 5pm to 7pm on already moderately priced drinks. Friendly staff and clean toilets which are always a plus at a happy hour venue. The outside seating is excellent in wonderful weather and terrible in any sort of strongish wind or rain. The food is interesting. A varied menu with over large pizzas, a lasagna that is cheese with meat and maybe two sheets of pasta, excellent chilli on the side and frankly terrible breakfast options though they are extremely cheap. Worth a visit if you live in area, not so much if you visiting area

This bar is a peculiar mix of out of the way drinking hole in a very public and convenient space. Although it is on the high street, it has the charm and air of a backwater local watering hole. There seems to be a crowd of regulars who are to be seen at the end of the day, but if i need to meet a friend for a chat, it always seems to be open and available. What i like most about it, is that there is no attempt at any sort of recognizable decorative styling like most other bars around town. It seems to exist by virtue of the position it occupies and because it simply is, there can be no pressure to behave or pretend in any manner. Good for the soul, it is simply comfortable. One can sit inside or outside in a lovely bit of a garden and i see people eating meals here although i have only ever eaten fried chips. They were good. I like this place a lot, but i do wish they would stock some IPA or Amber ales. I detest SAB products, to me, they simply have no flavour. This is obviously a personal opinion and it doesn't detract from the fact that i constantly see people having a great time here. Not least myself.

The most excellent lasagne for under R50! Chilled sidewalk cafe type atmosphere.

Stopped in for a late night snack, however the kitchen was closed up tight at 23:00. Ordered a cold draft and enjoyed a conversation with a few locals enjoying their night at the bar. Sadly I didn't have time to check them out for lunch or dinner. They have plenty of indoor seats and also have a patio with quite a few seats under a large shade tree. The bar staff was friendly, quick and for a Saturday night even had a smile on.

The food was tasty and the plates were full, very good quality of service and good price

Great atmosphere nice for a few drinks and supper after work. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly and familiar. Seating outside is a bit limited though and the inside seating is rather dingy. Food quality is great, their large pizza specials are great value for money!

Great food, great prices and great people! It's one of those places where every time is an awesome one and you meet amazing people. Always recommended for their pizzas but there's other great food on their menu as well. I'm particularly fond of their pasta dishes as well as their seafood basket. The owner, Mikhail, is also a man of the people. As he always tries to keep prices down for as much and as long as he can, he's also a great conversationalist and has his moments when he likes to entertain a small audience of patrons. 5 stars is not enough for this beautiful place. Definitely my oasis in Cape Town.

My favourite 'around the corner' hangout during my stays in CT. Maybe not te best kitchen, but the very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere are more important for me.

Unassuming bar and restaurant in Kloof Street. I love the refurbished Cowhide Spur couches. Friendly English waiters. Eclectic menu ranging from German, Italian to Greek and Middle Eastern. Some craftbeers available.

Great place!!!!! Atmosphere: nice, location: kloof street central, food: devine, service: excellent, price: perfect, experience: we have been there 5 times the only question is - why is this place not more croweded? Best place to eat in Cape Town. U need to go there !

I was horrified to find a bill where they charge R17 for a 500ml water, I know we have a drought but that is just day light robbery!

I moved to Cape Town two years ago and I have been going to Mixas as an after work vibe and always having some snacks of course.. Pizzas are delicious.,salads are big and colorfully topped..not to speak about lasagnas! They also have free wifi and you can also charge your phone! Happy hour everyday from 5 to 7 ! I also meet a lot of fantastic people who are my close friends now! β™‘

If I could give it a -25 I would. Had the Chicken mayo tramezzini - beyond disgusting, was like a big fluffy ball of sick - and debatable if the contents inside was chicken.

If you looking for a warm meal. Basic and affordable menu. Very cosy and warm environment. It's best suited for casual bar goers that prefer a bite aswell.

Great place for breakfast - good portion size, and excellent value for money (especially the breakfast special). Would definitely stop by again when I'm in town.

Definitely not the best Shawarmas around - felt I could have made better myself honestly. I think it's a shame that you have to choose one of the Shawarmas with pre-chosen toppings. I much prefer places where they let you choose your toppings entirely yourself for a more personalised feel. Service here is mediocre - also not the nicest looking place.

Ok, here is the thing about Mixas. It's in Kloof Str, they make some great tapas and the staff are really nice. But here is the but, it's not your classiest place in Town and can get a little rowdy. So go for a beer there but don't take a date.

My best friend is a chef at the Mount Nelson hotel, which is a footstep away from Mixa's. Great vibe, especially under the sunshine and the beers are very much reasonably priced. πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

A bit of a dive bar but food to die for. When the locals recommend a place as delicious and well priced then it's worth checking out. The pizzas are phenomenal made by a team of ousies in the kitchen. Yum! Generous toppings and a perfect base. This is a great place to go before a big night out.

Nasty, full of drunks and not so clean yet we go back and go back again ! :) burgers and pizzas are yummy and big. The steak roll is just as good. Tried the chicken pasta today and that was average. My mom had the strawberry fizz and it tasted like mix-a-drink, it was that bad. Sex on the beach was also average. Would recommend this place 5/5 f you looking for a delicious beer pizza combo.

*update*
I just had to try the schwarma ! It is in the name, afterall. What a huge dish ! It comes with fries AND a really big salad. The foodie in me did not complain. I opted for the EU chicken schwarma and boy was it good. Lots of melted cheese, plenty of chicken, cut up those big pieces of feta from the salad and what a delicious combo. I could literally only eat half, and did not touch the fries. My sister had the chicken avo burger which was also massive as well as tasty. It was almost 40 degrees last night and we sat outside enjoying the uhm heat πŸ™„ the strawberry milkshake was a good cooler-off-er. Mixas is always a go to when we not sure where to go and last night it did not disappoint.

Mmmm. Watched the rugby, then the management clandestinely used a small dose of pepper spray to clear out the area for a booked party. Very dodgy in my opinion to use pepper spray, however small the dose, on your customers for more revenue Mixas. Epic fail. There was also a small 3-4 year old girl who was coughing, sneezing and crying. I know this sounds a litle wierd right?! - But hey, it's what you guys did Mixas. Not happy.

We have had some pretty mixed experiences here. The service isn't always great, but they have cheap drinks and a nice mezze platter that is a very affordable. The outdoor seating is very nice on a warm day.

Mixa's is a great place to hang out with friends and grab a few affordable drinks. Happy hour specials (from 5-7pm) are great with beer, wine and spirits specials. Staff always friendly. This is your local "cheers" equivalent. Come as you are (I have even been there in my PJs) and stay as long as you like (well within reason). Food is reasonably priced. Don't expect gourmet standards, but as an accompaniment to go with beer is more than adequate. You may get the odd kloof street resident joining your table and later at night you may spot some "colourful" characters but on the whole this place gets the thumbs up.

Mixa's is the kind of place you can go chill at with friends, you can grab food at a reasonable price, you can get a huge variety of alcohol and reasonable beer variety and Mixa and the gang are extremely friendly and make you feel at home. Outdoor area, covered area, indoor area, awesome to eat, drink and chill.
