Thai world offers a great buffet every first and last Friday of the month. Their chicken wing starter, soup and spicy rice is absolutely delicious. Their mains are fresh and tasty and their desserts are nice too. Overall a well worth it experience.
Had 2 Thai girls accompany me who haven't had real Thai food in a long long time.They both gave it a 10/10.So many dishes to recommend as we ordered a full gamut of Thai comfort food , but the Sai ua (Spicy northern thai sausage) was on a different level.Pricing was also very keen.
The best Thai food I've ever had in SA and I've tried pretty much all of the highly rated establishments in Joburg.

To me, Thai World serves the most authentic Thai food in town. The owner is always friendly and happily takes special orders of Thai dishes that aren't on the menu. We drive all the way from town to get our fix.
This family run restaurant is a firm favourite in my house. The duck red curry and phad thai being our usual order. The service is attentive and good.
Very charming little spot in Harfield Village. The food is excellent, the portions and flavor both awesome. Been here twice and had a really good experience both times.
We had a great dinner at Thai World. Their meals are slightly more pricey but their portions sizes are decent. We loved their Nam Sod dish, the fresh ginger added a lovely kick to the dish. Their curries are served in cute little pots. And their fish dish was delicious, I can't remember what is was but it was a sort of spicy version of the usual sweet and sour dishes. Lovely authentic Thai decor inside.
After searching high and low, I do believe I have finally found my go-to Thai food place. An authentic menu, friendly staff, home-run restaurant, and Thai flavours abound here! To start, we shared their galangal soup and their prawn and pork fried dumplings. For mains, I had the massaman curry and was thrilled to be offered a veg option instead of just potato (with added rice it can be a heavy dish). The veg was noticeably fresh. had their crispy duck with fried noodles and it was positively sinful. I'm already looking for an excuse to come back. Another member of our party went for the prawn pad Thai - definitely my next order when I return. It got rave reviews.
I've been coming here for well over a year now and whether we're there for there Friday night buffet, having dinner with friends, or running up the road to get a takeaway order - Thai World is the top of our list for food in the Village.
Love Thai World. It's been our go-to Thai take out for over 10 years because it's unfailingly delicious and you're also getting some fresh veg in your family.
The owners are a lovely local institution, worth supporting. We've GOT to try something new on the menu though. Phad Thai, green curry, stir fried chicken with cashew nut... I shudder to think how many portions we've ordered over the years.
But we are going to do it again as soon as they open this evening. :)
Legend place. Authentic Thai, massive portions, reasonably priced, great owners, Thai beer and whiskey and a lively atmosphere to boot. I have lived in the area for a long time and never went but will return for sure.
I've been to Thai World quite a few times and always been really impressed, so as my Thai food craving arose today I decided to get some take aways.
The food was ready quickly, and the owner/ manager was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious! I ordered spring rolls, which came with their peanut sauce - which I love. They tasted fresh and homemade. I also got a Tom Yum Gai which was super super tasty and had all the right flavours!
The meal was reasonably priced and I will definitely be back both to dine in and to take away.
If Thai food does it for you and you're in the area this is a great place to eat. The food is delicious, well played and various. Service is friendly and efficient but the decor needs a bit of attention. 😌

Best green curry ever! Try it with steamed rice. Underrated restaursnt - don't forget to try their gorgeous soups and spring rolls too. Perfect for a winter's night!
1st time around service was prompt but not so friendly. The food was delicious. We went back for the amazing food and to our surprise not only was the service prompt as ever but everyone was very friendly and attentive. Needless to say, the food was out of this world. I would recommend this spot for any Thai food enthusiasts

Everytime we go back, the owners recognise us and know exactly what we want to order. Just salt of the earth people that make Thai World a pleasure to go to. I always get the crispy duck, it's a large portion so one can share or have the leftovers for lunch the next day. But honestly, I would drive all that way just for their soups! So so good. Thai food is just such a nice healthy choice for eating out and I highly recommend Thai World. Plus there's a small parking lot in the back which makes it convenient.
Wow this place is interesting. Nice decor and although a lacking a little vibe it was very cosy and super friendly service. I had the egg friend noolde with pork and chilli paste and it was a very generous portion and it tasted so goood! Definitely give it a go, but not quite one of my top places ever.

Various authentic Thai dishes with a variety of meat/veg options. Well prepared, beautiful presented and delicious. Standard drinks menu. The establishment is a little dark inside but the thai style deco makes you feel like you have entered into another country, warm and cosy. The service is generally friendly however a little slow. Do note it was busy for what I assume would normally be quieter for a Sunday evening.

Ok so we've been going to Thai world for many years and never had a bad or disappointing meal.
They buy their ingredients fresh people. No frozen veggies here. The owners wife personally goes out and sources the freshest veg, meats and fish of the day.
The proof is in the delicious dishes they serve.
I had prawns stir fried in garlic and pepper. Absolutely delicious.
If you love Thai cuisine you've got to try Thai world

Thai world's food is delicious with authentic Thai flavours. Their veg spring rolls are light and packed with flavour. My wife raves about their tofu starter.
They have an extensive range of mains on offer. Stir fries, curries and noodle dishes.
The garlic, ginger and pepper stir fried prawns are fantastic. Juicy, succulent and packed full of flavour.
Lovely owner makes you feel at home.
All dishes very reasonably priced.

My wife and I both love Thai cuisine. Stumbled upon this restaurant on Zomato and figured we would give it a try. Best decision ever! Food is outstanding, really authentic thai food, portions are excellent staff are friendly and service is attentive. Everything you want when eating out. Will go back.... Often

This very popular restaurant is located on 2nd Avenue in Harfield Village and has been around for what seems like forever. It is successfully run by husband and wife team and has a charming and authentic Thai atmosphere throughout the restaurant. We were greeted with big smiles and were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The service is excellent; we did not need to look around for anything. Our drinks arrived shortly after we ordered them and we only seemed to wait a few minutes after we had ordered our starter, for it to arrive. We weren't starved but we weren't ready for mains yet so we ordered a portion of spring rolls to share and when it came time to ordering our mains, we decided on getting 2 different dishes to share and we asked if they could wait about half an hour before serving (which they were only too happy to do).
The food is delicious and authentic with real thai flavours.
The Por Pia Thod (Thai rolls with vegetables and noodles, served with a homemade peanut sauce) were really tasty, fresh, light and hot. They weren’t too stodgy or oily either and hit just the right spot as a little nibble while we enjoyed a sundowner drink on the deck.
The Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai, Moo, Nua (Coconut milk green curry with vegetables and chicken) was massive and served with rice. It had a good bite to it but not too spicy and it was packed with chicken and fresh veggies.
The Phad Thai (Rice noodle pan friend with beef and peanuts) was the winner of the night. So yum and took is straight back to our holiday in Thailand. The portion was big and SO tasty.
P.S. they have a weekly buffet worth checking out.
Authentic, delicious and value. Three words to associate with this place. The owner and her husband run a tight ship, with fresh ingredients used and authentic Thai tastes brought into every dish. The spring rolls are probably the best around.
Tofu like nowhere else, great food and ambience - service is good - managed by a grumpy old git, but he's made the place what it is, so I salute him.
We went by this place randomly. It ended up being on the only night in the whole month that they do a buffet. Probably one of the best Asian food buffets we have seen and it included ice cream and fried bananas for dessert. Mmmmmmmm.
Spring rolls to die for. Really tasty thai green curry and one of the best buffets around!
All round awesome place to go for a family meal or for dinner with friends in a relaxed atmosphere.
