Haven't been there for more than 30 years. Food still aa good as I remember. Will go back. Had my 21st here many moons ago. Highly recommend

A hidden gem! If the expression "Don't judge a book by its cover" was an establishment... it would be Harlequins! Service is exceptional, the staff is friendly, efficient, and attentive! The food is great, but my favourite is the Tiramisu. Do yourself a favour and book a seat!

Authentic Italian food to make you swoon! Established, character and consistency since the '70s. Love love love this unpretentious place.

We had a fabulous meal again. Crayfish was moist and full of flavour. The veal piccata was tasty, creamy mushroom sauce!

What a wonderful atmosphere! Great food and superb service makes this an ideal spot, especially for larger parties. Even with loadshedding, we all had an excellent meal by candle and fire light. I had the super tender and tasty oxtail with mash on the side and others raved about the lamb shank and baby beef. Love this!

Really nice vibe with quality food. Had a great time it's unfortunate that it is closing down.

After about 30 + years, I spend a nostalgic evening there last night. Initially it was announced last month in online website that they were closing; however I called and was informed by the new management that they are open and continues as before. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent. Just as I remembered from the past. I will definitely be back as a regular.

Absolutely great food and service. I know this restaurant that belongs to an Italian family since childhood when it also had a drive-in. The white bait starter was lovely and the famous Wiener Schnitzel perfectly prepared. Just be warned about the size. And it is served with veggies and a salad. An old time favourite. Highly recommended.

Complimentary green salad with freshly baked rolls. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere even better. The wine great. Owner and staff is very friendly and attentive. Such a great spot to unwind and relax. You'll feel at home, but don't just take my word for it.

A lovely nostalgic trip down memory lane. Food is rustic and not fancy, but tasty enough. Don't expect a slick modern restaurant, but if you're looking for a fun retro experience this is the place.

A great little old school Italian restaurant. The exterior is not something that is going to pull a whole lot of people who are just driving by, but go in and you are transported back in time. A lot of the illustrations and decor has been there a very long time, but what has also been here is really great quality food and good service. Decent wines on the list as well. If you enjoy good food this is worth the visit.

Hi, guys, been going to this very authentic Italian restaurant since a little boy. Incredible value for money and lovely people to chat with, especially the owner. Great food with family and the like. Basically not to be missed.

If you prefer refined and beautifully presented Italian "like" dishes, this is not the place. Have staying in Roma for a year before covid, I found this restaurant offers the exact same food style as a corner Roma family diner. The traditional rustic dishes r what u get. Pasta is cooked to fit the northern suburbers' taste, so ask the restaurant to al dente to be right. Al fredo charged R150 because it is cooked with fresh real cream, not any artificial one. New owner is taking over and hopefully will keep up the good work.

Have always been skeptical about this place.
Never seen patrons entering and leaving.
Friend decided to have his birthday dinner there.
I had a wiener schnitzel, very good!
Tasted the Corden Bleu, lamb shanks, lasagna dish.
The Bleu was delicious, definitely having that in future. Lamb shanks came right of the bone, so soft. Lasagna dish, sizing a bit small but worth it.
Service - very good
Atmosphere - relaxed
Food - tasty
Drink variety - good
Revisit - yes

Wow what an experience!
I’m currently a third year student on Tygerberg campus and couldn’t believe that this incredible spot was right under our noses only 6min away!
The decor takes you back in time and the staff are extremely polite. We ordered the gnocchi and ravioli and it didn’t disappoint! From the flavorful meat sauce, freshly made pasta to the bread rolls served as a starter, I will definitely be visiting this place again! What caught my eye was the way the owner greeted all the customers and talked to them like family. Don’t let the location put you down, go for a true Italian experience!!

Best place for authentic Italian food in Cape Town. Don't expect fancy decor or food. Here the waiters know you by name. Go here for the food, which is consistently delicious. Expect a down to earth Italian experience 👌 You won't regret it! Highly recommend the Kingklip.
This will always be a favorite through and through, don't let the location or look put you off. You have to make the trip to understand it. I always have the calamari and mussels and its never ever let me down. Good menu, good food and the most welcoming atmosphere, you just can't go wrong.

Ah, there's nothing like the sweet stench of nostalgia. And what better to pair with nostalgia than the one thing that has the power to transport you from here to anywhere at any time in the world: food.

Everybody who's heard of the Harlequin knows it's one of the oldest, most renowned restaurants around. For more than five decades, this Italian palace has been feeding hungry mouths and they don't plan on stopping soon.

And why should they? The atmosphere is not even in question because you feel every breath that's ever passed through there when you enter, and the food is so authentic you might not even recognize it as something special until you're back in the car, on the way home, thinking 'I've never had anything like that and I won't ever again unless I return to the Harlequin'. And you're right, because there's just that something so special about this place, you simply can't fault it.

Go try my little corner of Italian heaven. It's really something.

A hidden gem of note, opening in 1965 this restaurant boasts authenticity. Warm bread rolls and a salad to share as a starter gives you a truly Italian at-home welcome. The Baby Beef packs some heat, and I was delighted to have enough to take-away. Monday noontime saw the restaurant filled with groups and a couple here and there. Bada Bing Bada Boom.

An Italian restaurant with the real Italian family values! People who have not travelled to Italy might not appreciate this restaurant, as there is nothing fancy to it, but it is typical Italian, which I love! It is another culture which we have the privilege to experience without leaving Cape Town. Go there with this mindset.
The food is of a good quality and made with authentic Italian ingredients and in the traditional way. This was my first visit to the restaurant even though I have lived in the Northern suburbs all my live. I was pleasantly surprised and will return!!

I have been going here for years.
The atmosphere is timeless and I always have a good time there.
If you enjoy Italian food, this is the place you want to go to.
The warm bread rolls with a basic salad served after you are seated is delightful and a nice touch.
I hope they will be around for another 50 years.

A forgotten gem, nostalgia abounds. The charm of this restaurant is undeniable, it's been open for 50 years and not much has changed since 1965, including the decor and the people who shuffle between the tables. But neither has the food and the recipes they follow. If you're looking for cutting edge modern cuisine with decor to match, stay away. But if you're looking outstanding Italian food to make you feel warm and nurtured, this is the place for you.

Best Italian food! Not situated in a best of areas and does not have the prettiest interior but has been there for a decade and worth the visit! My personal favourites: Baby beef, Saltimbocca or even the line fish. Try the mussels as a starter. Italian food at it's best!!!
Kim Siljeur
The most unpretentious italian food that also happens to be the best italian food. You can't go wrong with the Veal Dario and some tiramisu for dessert, of course.
Andreas Melonas
One of the best Italian food restaurant's there is ! Its got mouth watering steaks with some of the best monkey gland sauce . The harlequin also makes the best fries there is.
Gabriel D'Oliveira
Proper no fuss Italian food the way Mama makes it. A legendary part of Cape Town history and a place you will always come back to for more. Always reminds me of home and family!
