We had my sister's surprise party here. Wow wow wow!! From the arrangements, to the table seating, to the cake cutting, to the absolutely delicious food and incredible service. Everything was just amazingly incredible , such a special day for all of us!! Will definitely be going back again.

First thing is service. Excellent service. The food is amazing. My first time I had a sirloin and they cooked it to perfection. When I went back to try the ribs It was unbelievable. Great staff, very helpful with seating reservations and our lack of reservations. Waiter(s) are talkative and helpful without being overbearing. Good looking bar. Seems like it would be good for casual drink and watching a game. Bit pricey but it is beef and seafood so you shouldn’t be surprised. They do have exterior seating but tables and atmosphere there is not in same level as interior and the back room is stark compared to the main dining room. Bit of an odd location but glad they are there. Recommended and would return if in the mood for steak. Loved the creamed spinach.

What a sumptuous meal we had for Valentines. The steak was soft and juicy with lovely crispy chips and lovely calamari it was a treat. The desert was delicious. Service was good under the circumstances as it was packed to the rafters. Ample parking lots of seating available inside and outside. It is also wheelchair friendly so no problems getting inside the restaurant. Will definitely be back for the Monday burger specials starting from R59.

The restaurant is hidden in a hotel, and has decor you’d expect at a steakhouse. The service was just ok. The food was my highlight. My steak was grilled to perfection and melted in my mouth. Definitely coming back.

One of the best steaks I've eaten in Cape Town. It is more pricey than the average restaurant but totally worth it! The waiter was great and we had a fantastic meal. The ribs are also delicious!

This Cattle Baron is the most aesthetic outlet I have been to, the restaurant is visually pleasing with wood finishings and modern decor. I found it difficult to phone in for a reservation, having to phone 4 times before they answered. Prior to this visit I had experienced better service. As for the food, the steak was 6.5/10. The steak combined with its trimmings was delicious, however overbasted and a bit tough although I ordered medium rare. With steak I ordered a side salad in place of chips, I would highly discourage this as the salad was extremely bland, having only 4 ingredients and there were barely any dressing options.<br/>

One of the best chicken burgers I’ve had in a while! Pairs very well with their butternut and spinach veggies which is honestly to die for! Friendly and fairly fast service is an added bonus!

I attended a work dinner here recently. The restaurant itself is really nice and does have quite an upmarket feel. We were seated upstairs and service was a little shakey to start but it definitely improved and overall was quite good. We shared some platters, which were really nice. I particularly enjoyed the Calamari and Carpaccio. For mains I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It was okay but seriously lacking in seasoning, which seemed to be the case for most mains as everyone kept asking to pass the salt. I'd like to go back and try some other menu options.

We had burgers for lunch and they were really delicious! The portions are very generous as well, and the staff members are friendly. We left the restaurant, feeling very content. I will definitely be coming back!

We went here for a quiet romantic evening and their food is always great but personally I have tried a few Cattle Barron's and I still prefer the one's in the northern suburbs. The food was great although the waiter did forget to bring our side dishes of creamed spinach and pumpkin until right at the end, and we were there with an entertainer voucher and took a bottle of wine as they have a no corkage policy at all Cattle Baron. Upon paying we were told that we need to pay R50 corkage which is a small print within the terms of their agreement with the entertainer app. I won't bother going to any Cattle Baron with an entertainer voucher at all.

The steak was perfection, like butter. Recommend Sauteed mushroom fillet served on a potato rosti. Lost property returned by Meriam our waitress after we had already left the restaurant.

We stayed at the Capital Mirage and ordered in-room dining provided by the cattle baron. We ordered something light and easy - toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches. The image below is the sad sandwich we received (not toasted) when we phoned the manager to discuss the meal - he refused to accept that it was below standard because he "checked it himself" <br/><br/>We sent it back anyway.

I have now tried both beef and pork ribs and both occasions mark some of the best damn ribs I've ever had. Considering that I boast to have eaten ribs at most, if not all places in Cape Town that offers them - this is no small feat indeed. One is further pleasantly surprised to find them seriously well priced. <br/>As the big man himself says, 'I'll [most certainly] be back!'

*IT'S DEFINITELY A 'YES' FROM ME*<br/>Well-established restaurant and very neat!! The staff was friendly and the manager was around, which is always nice to see. One order was done wrong and corrected without a fuss. I had the Nevada Steak, ordered it without the basting, and it was great! Very tender meat and done just right. The side salad and the hot veg dish were really delicious too.

Date night and wifey and I tried cattle baron waterkant on wednesday. Last time I visited the now closed cattle baron in claremont. <br/><br/>Nice warm atmosphere here. Warm and comfortable. Friendly reception by the staff so that was nice.<br/>Had calamari as a starter.<br/>2 negatives very oily , it was as simple as using a paper towel for the excess oil guys wipe wipe.....done......customer happy.<br/>And wow 8 strips for over R50 thats a rip off by anyones standards. <br/><br/>Had the steak as thats what you are known for. Delicious fillet steak. Yummy<br/><br/>Had the cheese cake after. One of the best ones I had.<br/>Had a nice time. Just next time attention to detail and at least 10 more pieces of calamari

I hadn't been to a Cattle Baron in many years, and I was pleasantly surprised to walk into a place I hardly recognized - the wooden decor with candle lit tables was modern and chic. The atmosphere was surprisingly warm for a Tuesday evening, and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and efficient wait-staff. I ordered chicken cordon bleu with bacon, while my table also ordered chicken schnitzel and sides of spinach, pumpkin and salad. Both chicken dishes were good, but not exquisite. The cordon bleu was tasty - yet it was not the quality of food I was expecting, considering it is a R100+ dish. The chocolate fondant was tasty, especially with the ice cream. I was, however, slightly disappointed that it arrived slightly colder than it should've been, and it was thus too solid throughout - instead of that delicious oozing of chocolate fondants are known for. Overall I left feeling happy, and my tummy felt the same way. 80%.

We visited the Cattle Baron on a Saturday night. The location is great and there is plenty parking nearby. The restaurant itself is a tad fancier than what you would usually expect from a franchised steakhouse. Our waiter Chad was on point with service and managed to be attentive enough to keep us satisfied without making our meal feel rushed. We had the deep fried camembert starter to share. It was enjoyable but over-battered to the extent that the flavour of the cheese itself was lost. I opted for the beef ribs while my girlfriend went for the chateaubriand fillet. Both were delicious but perhaps not worth the near R200 price tag. To accompany our meats we had thick-cut fries, creamed spinach, and butternut; all of which were underwhelming. We left with full stomachs but empty wallets.

We decided to try an old favourite after several years, I used to frequent the Claremont branch so decided to give this ago after discovering that they're halal friendly. Waseem and I decided on having the black mushrooms for starters I found the mushrooms heavily overpriced for a measly portion. The steaks, I had the chateaubriand and Waseem had the habanero fillet - and it was hot really hot, Waseem loves strong food so it rare for most restaurants to match his tastes. The evening was lovely overall, and I'll definitely be back to check out their specials

I didn't know what to expect as I had never been to a cattle baron before. A really good experience!<br/><br/>The restaurant is lavishly decorated. Very upmarket with luxurious seats and wooden elements. The only thing that I found a bit off was the ceiling which was left quite industrial looking with red pipes which really didn't fit.<br/><br/>Lunchtime: the restaurant was empty. We had excellent service from the waitress who told us about all the specials and we were in luck as they have an everyday lunchtime burger special for R36. Which is ridiculously cheap. So we had to try it. Everyone was really pleased with their burgers. I had the grilled chicken with a side salad. I ordered a sauce on the side which was disappointing as it was way too thick, I suspect too much flour! The other sauces on th table were delicious though and the waitress did apologise.<br/><br/>Vegetables are brought to the table standard with every meal and the butternut was a bit too sweet for my liking, but the creamed spinach was a star. It needed salt though- but I guess that's not a bad thing when sharing it on a table as everyone prefers different amounts. It would be nice to be warned beforehand though.<br/><br/>Definitely will be back again! They're on the entertainer which is a huge plus and have weekly specials.

Working late on a public holiday always works up a good appetite. So at 8pm we're driving around, looking for a new place to taste. We wind up at CB (Greg's in heaven: here be meat!)<br/><br/>Stylish decor. Pleasant atmosphere. Interesting clientele (Afrikaans families; French tourists; middle-aged couples both with long hair).<br/><br/>We are seated and despite many waiting staff walking up and down, we seem to be invisible for a while. But after our order is taken by our honest waiter (G asked which he would recommend, Rump or Pork Ribs, and he says he doesn't eat Pork, but the Beef ones fall off the bone). G goes for Rump and rates it 4,5 on cut, quality and taste.<br/><br/>Thinking I should stick with meat (rather than chicken or fish at a steakhouse), I order the Fillet Schnitzel with Green Madagascan Pepper Sauce. Sounds impressive! The sauce was so strong, initially it tasted like perfume (G thought they'd spilled chemicals in the pot). Potential disaster.<br/><br/>Manager comes over and immediately offers to bring me something else, no arguing. I say it's ok, I like pepper sauce, but would he mind tasting it. He comes back from kitchen and says he agrees, the flavour is very strong, can he bring me some cheese sauce to tone it down. 5 star service.<br/><br/>Even so, my food didn't impress - couldn't taste the fillet for the crumbs. The Chicolate Fondant also didn't make up for it. I rate both 2,5.<br/><br/>We'll go back (I married a carnivore) but I may end up with chicken or fish.

Loved this Cattle Baron branch! The restaurant is wonderfully decorated and has a great atmosphere. The staff are lovely, welcoming, & attentive. And the food! The burgers that we had were top-notch. Friday evening a couple of mates and myself went looking for a good meal. Cattle Baron at the Mirage was excellent! Two of us had the chateaubriand, both were cooked to absolute perfection as asked, one being cooked to medium to well and mine to medium rare. The flavors and tenderness were spot on! My other mate ordered the black peppercorn steak (he did feel it was slightly too peppery for his liking ) which was also cooked to his liking and palate. The restaurant had a joyous vibe with food and service being brilliant apart from a slightly longer wait and a small mix up with one person's pudding; the desserts are simple yet excellent! Will definitely be back!

Perfection! I ordered the spare ribs and my partner ordered the surf and turf sirloin and calamari combo. OMG! This place is one of the best steak houses I've been to. The meat was cooked to perfection. The rib meat fell off the bone and into my stomach. The sauce on the ribs was delicious. The calamari melted in our mouths and the medium rare sirloin was absolutely delicious, not a drop of blood in sight. The ambiance is that of an upmarket steak house. We made another booking for tomorrow.

Finally a restaurant that does its name justice: The Cattle Baron - one of the best steak houses that any of our party of five have frequented in years, and now firmly in my top 3 in Cape Town. The steaks and burgers are simply off the chart. The staff were friendly but require more training to earn the 5 star rating.<br/><br/>Highly recommended!

Absolutely beyond average! I really would not recommend them to a single person.<br/><br/>If you arrive before 1pm they don't have the well known cream spinach and butternut ready, so they only served 1 side.<br/><br/>The steak was meh, average. The pricing is totally over priced for what you get. Basically a piece of steak on a large empty white plate, with a few baby potatoes. <br/><br/>The place was empty during lunch yet still took 40min to bring our food.<br/><br/>Wine list is terrible, hardly any good wine options.<br/><br/>Management really was below standard, I told him we were disappointed with the vegetable situation, and never came back to try make up for it or apologies etc.<br/><br/>I don't think they will last long in this awesome spot!

I can sum up my experience at this cattle baron in one word. Fine. Not good, not bad, but fine.<br/><br/>I was here with my father and neither of us disliked our steak but we didn't like it either. <br/><br/> To me, the atmosphere at this franchise is great, it has quite a fancy feel to it and has many seating options, from dinner date to casual business meeting. So in my opinion, it's like a dressed up spur. <br/><br/>My waiter was also "fine", he did the orders and what not, but didn't bother asking how the food was, nor did he once check up on us, waiting for us to call him to order. <br/><br/>Only reason I'm giving a 3 rating is that I dig the restaurants layout and I recognize the fact that it's not bad per say .

There's just something nostalgic and comforting about visiting a Cattle Baron - it's probably got to do with that butternut and spinach veg side! Starters were really good, Chateaubriand fillet was cooked to perfection, upmarket steakhouse atmosphere and NY styled bar. They're new and there's some room to improve - which I'm sure they will. I'd highly recommend a visit!

Only heard good things about their food. I had to be the one to order the one bad thing on their menu. Friendly staff, but do not order the deep fried steak strips. Was partially my wrong doing by ordering something with "fried" next to steak. That's one of the ultimate "Do not" with steak. Additionally they forgot the sauce in my takeaway order, which you really need with a meal this dry. The chips are bad too so there's no saving this meal. Threw half the meal away.
