Review Bruegels Pizza - Cape Town Central

Judith (CapeTownWithKids.com)
This is a great family-friendly restaurant with absolutely delicious pizza on the menu. I would even say it's one of the best pizza places in town and we absolutely loved it! The kids admired the beautiful artwork on the walls which consists of many pictures from little creative hands. Kids can become creative and draw their own master piece at the table. We definitely recommend that place!

!!MUST-VISIT!! 💯A beautifully revamped Bruegels with delicious new additions to the menu. Firstly the atmosphere is warm and inviting while still being trendy and cool. 🌟There’s something for everyone! The servers & chefs are so friendly and professional. ☺️ The pizza kitchen is open and you get to watch your delicious pizza creations being made! 🍕 The food: OH WOW! Deliciously thin crust pizzas with generous toppings and satisfying cheese pull! 😍 Fresh Salads and lip smackingly good pasta! Very child friendly with great doodle opportunities 😉 completely friendly for vegetarians (their veggie pizza is amaze-balls!) must try - you’ll definitely thank me! 😘

Great wood fired pizza! I love the option of ordering half and half without any extra costs. The pizza has thin base, crunchy crusts, and loads of ingredients. They also have a good variety of desserts. The brandy tart is a must try, the tiramisu is average, and the chocolate cake is great.

My first time there & I enjoyed is so much, Cozy atmosphere & the pizza crust was perfect!

A lovely, relaxed place for any age. Despite being a family restaurant, it was not too noisy. I love that all the tables get crayons to draw in the table tops, not only for kids. Great atmosphere and a wide variety of pizza and pasta on the menu. Not the cheapest you will find but you won't leave hungry

Delicious! Would go back anytime, with friendly service, a great menu and fantastic taste they definitely will not disappoint.

This has become our pizza place of choice. Good service and excellent Pizzas!

After a long absence, we returned to Bruges for pizza on Friday evening. We were lucky to get there early as by 7h30, it was full. The food was excellent and we enjoyed having Owen as our waiter - so friendly and a wonderful sense of humour!

Delicious Pizza always. Bacon, blue cheese and green fig preserve with some great wine.

Best pizza in Cape Town, with simply lovely service. The restaurant is small and the neighbourhood rather dodgy, but the pizza is worth it.

Superb pizza and service. Pizza base is so thin and light. Excellent choices, and you can do a half - half of your 2 favourite pizzas on 1. Reasonable wine by the glass. Also good a pizza take away when leaving. Will definitely be back again.
Richard Beer
Great pizza, but average service and atmosphere.

Great Pizzas and friendly staff

I really liked this intimate little studio. The pizzas were delicious with ample choice and fresh ingredients. The idea of putting paper and crayons on the table even for grown-ups is great. Nothing is better than a doodle when you're waiting for your food! I'll definitely visit again

Had a great vegetarian pizza and salad, excellent and friendly service, many interesting and trendy diners eating there.

My favorite pizza place in the world. Thin crusts, unique but genius toppings. You can also order two different toppings per pizza, half each.

Please not that the prices need updating. Most are now around the R100 mark.

Just wish they were open for lunch and delivered to Pinelands. I'd buy so many more.

I love the whole vibe there; the staff, the paper and crayons and the artwork. I even have a doodle up on the wall🙂. Had one of the tastiest milkshakes here and the pizza is really good.

Pros:
1. You get to doodle on the table - how cool is that!
2. Great pizzas
3. Garlic snails are a must try
4. Nice ambience
5. Good service

Cons:
1. Can get a bit crowded and noisy sometimes

Always good pizza. Pictures on the walls. Kids love it. It's definitely the place to go for a very relaxed time with the family. Sit in or take away.

Bruegels makes some of the best pizza in Cape Town, fresh-tasting thing bases and interesting toppings are the order of the day. The inside of this restaurant feels like a children's daycare center, with crayon drawings covering the walls and the feeling that things are just slightly dirtier that you'd expect from a restaurant that is charging R100+ for a pizza. I love the fact that you can draw on the tablecloths, or rather table-paper. A very cool conversation starter, and something to do for the odd person in your group that isn't very interesting but can draw. Despite great pizza, I give these guys a 3.5 based on their slightly-too-small portions and slightly-too-high prices. However, I cannot deny that I would certainly go back.

I went there with some friends. My pizza was extremely bland. I thought it could have just been what I had ordered. My friend had ordered a Margherita and she let me taste it. It didn’t taste like anything. It was worse than mine.

The service was really good but the food was quite disappointing.

Undoubtedly one of the best kept secrets in Cape Town. There is a fantastic selection of pizza with some innovative topping combinations. And great for kids.

I always have the best pizza when I come here.

You also get to draw on the table, with lots of crayons!

Thin base, ingredients en pointe, good wine. What more can you ask for?
Undiscovered gem in Cape Town. Highly recommend this pizza joint. The thin crusted pizza were perfection and pastas sublime. Dont be fooled by the extremely family friendly atmosphere.

We usually get takeaway pizzas and have never been disappointed. Haven't explored the menu too much and tend to stick to our favourites but would recommend for a pizza night in or low-key night out.

Thin, crispy pizzas - absolutely delicious! We haven't eaten at the restaurant but it is super quick and easy for takeaways and they only fire up your pizzas when you get there, so they are always hot and fresh!

We enjoyed really tasty, piping hot thin based pizzas tonight. One of the great things is you can order a half and half pizza... 2 different toppings on the same pizza. Nice vibe, friendly waitress and good value for money! Friendly car guards watch your car while you eat.

I literally have never had such delicious pizza...thin base, perfect amount of toppings and well priced. Wait is never more than 15 minutes. Keep going back! Cape Town, go try this place!!! It's amazing.

Brugals have so many pizzas to choose from and the pizza bases are thin crust which I love. They are also generous with their toppings and they make a great puttanesca pasta.

Bruegels is quite easy to drive straight past, especially in the evening. It's a great place to order a take away from - the pizzas are light, thin, crispy and very tasty. I don't think that I would have a sit down dinner here, but would definitely order take outs again.

This quiet looking place has surprised me with their delicious thin crust pizza. While we took a take away..I noticed that even on a week night it looked like a nice hangout. We ordered the Yamamoto Pizza and it didn't disappoint.

Brugels is a no frills restaurant which makes great pizza. I've been here a few times and experienced good service. They also have a large variety of vegetarian pizza options.

The actual pizza is thin and crispy, which is why I like it so much. It's a great take out option if you're in the area.

So let's start with the pizza: it is really good. Perfect thin base with a tasty balance of toppings. I believe Bruegels is an instantiation in Mowbray and I can see why. Service is friendly, fast and efficient. It is a family restaurant though, so if you prefer quieter, not-so-kids-friendly restaurant, this is not for you. Pizza is good enough to come back for takeaways.

No great shakes, but fine for a family supper if you're in the area. The atmosphere is a bit grungy, but the paper "tablecloths" and crayons are fun. The big draw-back is the pizzas themselves. There are lots of reviews here touting the thin crust, but in fact Bruegels makes their pizzas on those kind of cardboardy pre-made bases. :-p It's a pity, because they have a wood-fired oven, and if they just took the trouble to roll out their own bases their pizzas would be much better.
Catherine
Delicious thin-based pizzas, Brueghals have been around for years. They are a firm favourite for a relaxed dinner. With crayons and paper on the tables to draw with, there is entertainment for children and adults alike. Good service and well- priced.
Very consistent service, and they also do take-aways
Lisa
Thin base pizza with excellent toppings. All named after artists and mine's Mona Lisa. Great specials and high quality take always. This isn't one of those places that don't bother to make your your take away to the same standard as the rest of their food. Now if only they'd do deliveries.

Bruegels is a relaxed, colourful and family-friendly pizza restaurant. It’s the type of spot you want to visit for a good pizza in a chilled and cheerful environment. The menu has a huge selection of pizzas. The pizzas are thin based and cooked in the wood oven (just the way we LOVE them). Big, BIG brownie points for the half and half pizza option.

Try the Tatlin Pizza – walnuts, blue cheese, tomato and rocket – winner, who knew walnuts and pizza worked so well together. Also the Gauguin – Thai chicken, pineapple, peppers and coriander – we enjoyed the fresh take on pizza toppings.

Ooh and each table has scrap paper and crayons ready for all to doodle and the walls are covered with colourful art work from visitors young and old. How do you like our drawings? I wonder if they have made it on to the wall of fame?
Lexi Pauli
A great family spot, where your table is decked with white paper and a pot of crayons. Good menu, with so many choices and varieties. I had the butternut, feta, sun dried tomato and rocket pizza - was great! They also serve good red wine and wonderful Irish coffees. Service may be a bit on the slow side, but the food makes up for it.

Generally uninspiring food and surroundings which seems suited to a family containment site. 90s music, 90s haircuts, 90s food. Seriously thin pizza bases, toppings lacking flavour.
David M
Excellent value, friendly staff and, most importantly, GOOD food!

I've been visiting Bruegels every few months for the last few years and have never been disappointed.

Being able to draw on the paper that covers the tables adds some fun (and can be a great icebreaker if you're on a first date) but, if you aren't a fan of the idea, the pizzas do travel well.

The toppings could be a bit more generous but the quality is good and the base, whilst not paper-thin, is not thick or doughy, just thin, crisp, light and delicious.

Recommended.
Craig Hohls
There's a thin crust pizza and then there is a seriously paper thin crust pizza.
