We went to Amore restaurant in Kenilworth on Wednesdsy night. Husband (chef)and wife team, one waiter, fantastic service. Small restaurant, authentic Italian. Starters were 1x Gnocchi and 3x ravioli. Delicious! Mains were 3 x lamb chops and 1 x chicken breasts. Amazing! Dessert 2x coconut milk semifreddo with pear and a divine caramel sauce, and 2 x gelato (2 yummy flavours) Sublime!! A small menu which changes regularly. Not licensed. Was tempted to keep this a secret! We will be back again and again.
Wow what an awesome night!!
A real treat!!
Fillet was awesomely mouth watering & tender, Lamb was delicious!!
Although Amore now has a wine Licence we opted to open our Graham Beck Brut Zero which was yum!! We then enjoy a glass of the house red, it's delicious! Local I believe!!
The Vodka sorbet was outstanding to end with!!
We always love our treat with Dessy & Kiko!
A definite must try!!
Awesome food and fantastic hosts!! The butternut ravioli was divine!! And as for the asparagus wrapped in bacon with layered aubergine mozzarella and tomato starter...awesome! My hubby devoured the tripe!! Definitely an experience I will go back for! As for the waiter and manageress - so friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a lovely evening!
one of the best restaurants i have been too, cannot recommend this highly enough. Food is outstanding as is the attention from the staff
What an amazing meal. Will definitely be back! The food was delicious and the waiter attentive. I highly recommend the ravioli and fillet...and all of the desserts!!!

5 stars all round! The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were very friendly and assisted your every need before even having to ask, the restaurant was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Very relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a five star experience!
Best risotto ever! Seriously.check out Amore restaurant for some of the best Italian food in Cape Town. Warm, attentive service and wonderful food. A must !
Real Roman cooking. Short but constantly changing menu with extremely attentive service. A wonderful winter special. R295 for 3 courses.
What a great, authentic Italian restaurant!! Going there feels like you are in someone's home. Our friends are regulars and we were treated as such. A simple but massively high quality menu with fresh ingredients prepared while you wait...not for long!! I had prosciutto and melon and their awesome lamb chops, followed by beautiful home made ice cream. Nice wine list too. Give it a go!!!

Wow wow wow!!! I absolutely love Amore!!! Small, intimate! Food made with pride, passion and love! They have an amazing special of R295 for a 3 course meal! All ingredients are as fresh as they come! The menu changes according to what is in season and what they can source as fresh as possible! Not many places like this in Cape Town! It is run by a husband and wife team and the waiter is fantastic - friendly and on the ball!! He always had a smile on his face which is sooo refreshing! It feels like you are eating in a home filled with love! Capetonians let’s support places like this more! So much more Personal and special than franchises!!
Incredible once again! I don't usually write reviews but this wonderful team deserve high praise. An authentic and seasonal Italian menu, with something and everything for everyone. A truly delectable and welcoming experience even with a little one.
Delicious menu for Ralph's 80th birthday celebration. Well done.
Gorgeous Italian food. Brilliant friendly staff. Lamb chops, pork, gnocci, the salad and tiramisu. Go big at Amore.
We had our 4th visit there last week. It just gets better and better. The lamb chops are wonderful but so is the fish so its difficult to make a choice. The whole experience is great and we have never managed four courses. The house wine is good, particularly the red. The decor and atmosphere is modern, sophisticated and a delight. A fifth visit next week!
Went here on a recommendation from a friend. This is not your typical hole-in-the wall restaurant as it's fresh and clean and new but has amazing food and is an absolute gem. Will definitely be back for the great and classic Italian 👌🏼
Amore is cute and quaint and somewhere I drove passed a million times before I realized that it was a restaurant. It has very few tables, which makes for an intimate dining experience.
The food is what I would imagine to be authentic Italian, or something close to it. Butternut ravioli is exceptional. I had the gnocchi as a main, which was delicious too although almost too small to have as a main (which it's not meant to be)
The service was efficient and friendly. The prices are on the higher side.. and worth it.
I had heard great things about Amore and was excited to try it. The restaurant is small and intimate, tastefully decorated, and the service was great. Our primi piatti course was so delicious - I had the butternut ravioli in gorgonzola cream which was amazing, I licked my plate clean! The prawn gnocchi and pear salad had by the rest of the table were also great. Sadly however, the starters gave us high expectations for our main courses and we were quite disappointed. While the food was good (we had the linefish and the lamb chops), it wasn't amazing, and the portions were very small for the high price tag.
I'll be back for the ravioli, but won't bother with a main course next time.
Just loved this place! So friendly and professional. The food... It left us speechless, best pasta I have ever had! If there was if I could go every night I would! plus side Italians are the friendliest
Loved the food but the restaurant was full and unbearably noisy. Can't go back until either carpets are down(not really practical for a restaurant ) or the ceiling is baffled by acoustic tiles.
My husband and I went for our first anniversary and we absolutely loved it. Casual, elegant and, most importantly, delicious! My only negative comment is that it's slightly echoey. Other than that, it's a great option for a deliciously authentic Italian meal.
Pros:
- The food was amazing and the deserts are a musthave.
- Well priced
Cons:
The space gets very noisy and echoes when its full. A few carpets desperately needed to muffle the echo.
Needs better coffee. Cape Town is after all the coffee capital of SA?
Great little spot, just a few tables. Had the winter special which is R295 for three courses. The food was delicious Italian and excellent service. The mains we had were amazing, melt in your mouth steak and perfectly grilled lamb chops. Make sure you try the most silky panna cotta drizzled with a wonderful caramel sauce.
A cozy little family run Italian restaurant with a different menu daily, boasting seasonal dishes cooked to perfection. The perfect spot for an intimate meal, or date.
First time visit to Amore but not the last. Established four years ago this Italian gem was a wonderful surprise. From chic decor to an actual Italian in the kitchen, excellent service and a small but a something for everyone menu and good beverage options, its a perfect place for meals with friends or colleagues. Genuine flavours and ingredients. Relatively small so booking would be a good idea. We tried the salad to start, ravioli with gorgonzola cheese, and ended with excellent choice of deserts. Classier and tastier than expected. A surprise appetiser in a shot glass was also excellent and unexpected.
really enjoyed the food from a small menu. Laurence was an attentive waiter and the wine list has some great Italian wines.
Beautiful, cosy restaurant. Food made with love and the owners will greet your personally. The gnocci is a MUST HAVE!
The steak and lamb that we had was excellent. Free range and selected by the chef in true hauteur cuisine style. The antipasti was Delicious. The wine was springfield and divine. Small and intimate it was a memorable evening.
What a delight. Intimate ambience with exceptional hosting by Dessy and Lawrence with Kiko and his team creating amazing dishes in the background. Didn't feel rushed during our meal and didn't walk out feeling bloated or that we've overindulged. Perfect portions with phenomenal atmosphere. Thank you for making our Anniversary a memorable one.
My partner and I always get excited to visit Amore. I always walk away feeling like I've had an awe inspiring experience. Very intimate and quaint restaurant. The food is absolutely superb and well priced. Lourens is an attentive, exceptional waiter and the owners are warm friendly and welcoming.A must visit...
My daughter and I popped in for a quick bite and ended up staying much longer than we intended ...because the food was absolutely delicious. Proper Italian food like you would get on the side walks in Rome or Venice. Definitely visiting again.
Kicco and Dessy are the perfect hosts. We let Dessy take control of our meal selection paired with the recommended wine and it was spot on! Small quaint restaurant seats 25. Highly, highly recommended. Be prepared to pay but it is definitely worth every cent spent. No disappoints guaranteed!!
Had my bday dinner here - the asparagus starter was killed with olives but the gnocchi that followed was sublime.
A friend brought me an exquisite birthday cake as a gift - it was not well received by the manager. "I was not warned about this" and "I will have to charge you if you eat it". That spoiled it for me.
Owned, managed, cooked and served with LOVE by Chef (Kiko) and Maitre'D (Dessy), Ristoranté Amoré is the BEST Italian restaurant in Cape Town and certainly one of the finest overall. They only serve what is freshly available, so there's no fixed menu, just as mama would!
Lovely dinner on a great winter special. Food was really good - a short menu changing daily, but everything we ordered was done perfectly.
Exceptional dinner, every bite was absolute perfection. Very good service by Laurence (spelling?). Highly recommend this place!
Book a table - now. Outstanding personal service, authentic Italian food that is freshly prepared with the finest ingredients. Intimate setting.
Food fabulous, service superb, ambience amazing. Went back again yesterday and had exactly the same experience. A definite go to again restaurant.
Excellent meal but lacking atmosphere. We were happy when the power went off, much improved the ambiance.
This intimately run gem is of our favourite restaurants ..love the food and the staff.
Always look forward to our weekly visit.
