Great and luxurious hotel with a great location, fantastic service and lovely breakfast. A big thank you to the receptionist who understood that it was our anniversary and made it a little extra special for us, and to the concierge who managed to get a table at the city's, and perhaps Africa's best restaurant FYN on a short notice. We will definitely be back!
Me and my wife stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon. The hotel is luxurious, elegant and dead center in the middle of Cape Town. The staff make you feel right at home. They excelled in the details, like leaving a bottle of wine and a personalized welcome note in our room. The concierge recommended the most amazing restaurant for us when we weren't sure where to eat, and helped us book some of our activities. We don't usually stay at luxurious places like this but I am so happy we did this time. Besides, the price we got from them directly was not that bad after some negotiation via email, where they matched prices given by third party booking sites.
I spent about three days here, and my family and I had a great time. Immediately the staff was helpful got our bags and were genuinely nice. The prices are too cheap for the quality of service they provide. The food was extremely good, especially the continental breakfast. There is a gym and a pool, that is rarely ever crowded. Also if possible, please enjoy the spa while you are there great staff, even better care. I wish I could personally thank each of the staff one more time. Thank you for a great end to a great vacation.
We had a wonderful stay in the executive suite of the Taj Cape Town. The room was beautifully designed, offering great value. Our suite featured a spacious kitchen equipped with essential appliances like a washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, and a large refrigerator. The living space had a cozy couch by the TV, and the bathroom was sizable, complete with dual sinks and both a tub and a separate shower. Cleanliness and quality were top-notch throughout.
The service we received was exceptional. From complimentary valet service at our arrival, swift luggage handling, to being greeted with refreshing towels and a drink upon check-in – it all added to our experience. A staff member even gave us a tour and escorted us to our room. We also enjoyed the hotel's pool and spa facilities.
My sister and I went to the spa at The Taj and tried the Sushupti treatment. For two hours it was absolutely incredible!
The ladies were so friendly and professional.
The small touches of colouring in, a detox tea, candles, rose petals just add to the experience. I would highly recommend this treatment
Good:
Really nice breakfast! Selection is great and restaurant staff are excellent.
Very comfy beds. Slightly firmer which I prefer.
Not so good:
Check in time is at 3pm (which is already later than most hotels) but when we arrived our room was not ready. When we were eventually checked in we found clothes in the wardrobe which were not ours.
The hotel is in the inner city. The surroundings are very noisy. Cars can be heard from the room from very early in the morning.
Apart from well appointed rooms with great view, good breakfast, fantastic restaurant (Bombay Brasserie) great service and fantastic location of the hotel, I would like to mention the great concierge service of the hotel. Jade, Drek and one another (my sincere apologies to him on forgetting his name) helped us so much to make this trip memorable, warmly, promptly, cost effectively and ensured smooth experience everywhere. We are really thankful to them.
Excellent location, staff so friendly especially the Bar staff. Rooms spotless & have all the amenities you’d expect, breakfast service very friendly & plenty of choice. The hotel is next to Company Gardens which has a great cafe & is ideal for relaxing with a bottle of wine in the afternoon! Will definitely be returning to this fantastic city & hotel.
Book a Uber if you go out in the evening, plenty about.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Taj, Cape Town! Definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed at in all our travels. The hotel is very grand and the scenery from the room is absolutely breathtaking. Beautiful room with very large windows that offer a stunning view of Table mountain and the surrounding areas.
We must make special mention of hotel manager/supervisor, Jade, who always made us feel very welcomed and went above and beyond to help and give any information we needed. It's not often that we remember the names of hotel staff, but Jade is truly exceptional!
The location of the hotel is near many shops and also the city sightseeing bus stop which is one of the best ways to appreciate the city's beautiful landscape from a higher vantage point. The only downside of the location is that it is near Long Street which is known for its petty crimes and I would suggest avoiding walking around the hotel area after 5pm. Its fine and bustling during the day, just a little scary late evening onwards. Remove any gold jewellery etc & maybe dress down to avoid falling victim of crime.
We heard someone mention in the hotel elevator that he has stayed at many hotels in Cape Town and the Taj is the best of the best. I would definitely say so too! A lot of lovely local souvenir shops nearby at reasonable prices compared to the V&A. Brought back home a lot of lovely memorabilia.
Thank you to everyone at the Taj for making our stay in Cape Town a memorable one.

A wonderful venue to overnight or stay longer in Cape Town. Wonderful ambiance. Tasteful finishes and amazing restaurants. Valet service very professional and food options exceptional. The rooms are amazing with comfy clean beds a bath to soak and a shower. Overlooking the City in multiple directions. Heated pool, gym and sauna available. Wish we stayed longer but will most definitely return. Thank You!!
