Review Narona Restaurant - Cape Town Central

Nuria Marchant
Their pizza was amazing and delicious. I would recommend the the spicy sausage if you're into spicy food. The atmosphere is very relaxed and not crowded at all. However, the cheesecake I ordered was tasty but the crust was burnt and that was a bit upsetting. $

It's a nice place to eat really good and creative pizza, they also have ribs which are very tasty. I went with a group of friends, music was perfect and the waiter was very friendly. The restaurant was not crowded, but based on my experience, it should be crowded. One of the best pizzas I have had.

If you're a fan of proper authentic pizza made with love, I suggest you go visit this awesome little spot. Great staff, super great vibes and honestly a down to earth venue. I'm already making plans to go back for a lunch or dinner even though I live nearly 60kms away! That's how awesome the spot is! Go check it out for yourself, if you don't believe me!

Their pizzas are really authentic and filling! unlike a lot of other pizza spots around the area. I do recommend!

I read about Narona in a list of places to visit in Cape Town and decided I had to try it. The staff were all friendly and helpful, very professional. The premises were clean and airy, with sanitizer easily available. The service was quick and considerate. We had pizza and cheesecake. Both were fantastic. The pizza was a thin base, crispy with well balanced toppings and the cheesecake was one of the best I have tasted.

Their Alfredo pasta was amazing, staff were brilliant and it’s such a wonderful/vibrant place! Definitely would recommend.

This was a bit of a hidden gem. I was staying at an Airbnb up the road, when someone suggested that I pop down to the local spot. Note I am and was on crutches at the time, so could only *hop* down a small distance. The venue has inside and outside seating, a good food menu, featuring some of my favs, and great staff. It can get a little vibey in the evenings on the weekend, which is nice, it doesnt get over packed, but still a good spot to start your weekend. On my last day I had a lovely eggs benny, that was great value for money. I look forward to heading back, a stunning little spot in the middle of Gardens.

A nice afternoon pizza and beer. And the atmosphere made it 10x better

An amazing vibe - spent the day working there with a couple of Tafel's and a pizza on the side. The sun was out and it was an amazing day in Cape Town and it was well spent at Narona - will keep coming back because the service was amazing, so were the food and drinks. Amazing vibe all in all

We come from a restaurant background so we are definitely fussy about food, but that lasagna was just another story. it was so amazingly delicious I have not had such good lasagna in a long time and it was still perfect even after being delivered through Uber eats. I will definitely be ordering again soon!!!! Thank you Narona

I was at this place last night for dinner with a friend at 7pm. We literally sat there for almost 20 min while the waiter completely ignored us. She didn't even offer us the menu. Moments later, a woman walks in and sits a few tables from us and the waitress is already at her table asking if she could offer her anything. I was so disgusted. The place wasn't busy. She just didn't want to serve us. I'm not sure if it's a racial thing, so I wont accuse her of that. My friend and I simply got up and went to the Chinese place next door and had the best sushi ever! My friends had recommended this place that's why I chose to give it a try. If I could, I would give it ZERO stars. The food is probably good but if the service is terrible why eat where you're not wanted.

We're lucky enough to have these guys just down the road from us and they deliver (even in Argus cancelling winds). Great pizzas, although I confess to also being a cheese & bacon burger regular, they have a great menu selection and eating there is always comfortable if you don't feel like staying in.

What a lovey hidden gem. Great ambiance, pizza's excellent as usual and gr8 service!

Slightly better than kfc. Slightly. Why must my review be more than 50 characters when less than 50 characters actually keep that place floating?

Best pizza I had sinceong time. Exotic toppings like papadews and banana are brilliant

Going downhill fast, alas. Wonder why the customer must pay for all the white powder certain management figures consume on that toilet counter in the back. And why are the slave-class staff so unhappy? Just observing the hypocricy of modern day wannabes here, forgive my vitriol, the place is, after all convenient for the (retarded) WiFi. Check it out yourselves, by al means, sponsor them, they are hosts to many dodgy contacts if you watch them long enough. Still better than kfc by at least the breadth of fatty chicken skin. Having sat in the fumes of many of their delivery trucks while waiting to be served, I can assure you that Narona uses the same kak meat, the same kak veg, the same kak everything, just slightly, slightly slightly better than any cheap fastfood dump as e.g. the one across the road. And if that's your thing, be assured your waitron will be as white as the driven snow. Snow snow snow. Kap daar 'n lyntjie, my sus. Enjoy, Ekver Klara, and welcome to old Afrika.

I'm not going to claim to understand why I love Narona. Honestly I have no idea. Something about it has confused me from my first visit. But I've been back more times than I can count, because I love it. There is something so specifically "local" about it - from the staff, who have been there forever and don't change (and are characters;), to the general attitude of acceptance and anything goes. The food is decent. Prices are reasonable. And Narona is home.

After returning to Cape Town I was so happy to see this place again and spend my afternoons here.

Over past few years the venue visually changed and it’s up to date cozy little spot in Gardens with friendliest stuff and local customers.

Food is decently priced and their pizza is absolutely amazing. Best vegetarian options including veg burger that they, I found out, actually make here.

It’s perfect spot if you are staying in the area longer because you really get a chance to meet locals and make friends.

I was surprised on Valentines with a takeaway chicken and Avo salad from Narona via Uber Eats. It was fresh and delicious. Van't wait to try other foods from here.

A tiny resturant that a person could easily drive past, Narona is a little gem that can be found in Gardens. There are a few tables so groups should book in advance. Service could have been a bit better, as we had to wait quite a while to order food and the cheque. Our cocktails were excellent and our pizza had a very thin crust and was delicious. The seafood pasta was also very good, not the best but worth trying out. Prices were on the cheaper side, under R100.
Conclusion: I would gladly eat there any day of the week.

Our favourite pizza takeout in town is definitely Narona. The veggie pizzas are all yummy and they're quick, with free delivery, and always get your order bang on. The pizza crusts are thin, without being papery, and they put just the perfect amount of cheese and toppings on them. They're reasonably priced, too.

We seldom eat at the restaurant itself; it's on busy Buitenkant street, and the atmosphere doesn't draw one in. But they do have a few beers on tap and the staff are friendly and efficient.

I feel like Narona is one of Gardens' best kept secrets -although it's on buitenkant street , I find that few people have been. I suppose parking can be a bit of a mission. Their Balkan pizza is a standard favourite of mine, and I have never been disappointed! Service is relatively fast and friendly too. And their music playlist is great too!

I ordered a delivery tonight after I was confronted with an empty fridge and a lack of motivation to drive anywhere. I settled on Narona as it was down the road from where I was staying, and I've had great experiences with the Obs restaurant. The food arrived quickly and hot, my delivery guy was very friendly, but sadly my pizza was a bit underwhelming. The bacon on the pizza wasn't great and seemed to have just been laid on in large, careless slices, and to be honest I think there could have been more avo and banana. I'm not too perturbed, though, as it was still tasty, but I may stick more to the one in Obs instead.

A great spot for a beer after work, chilling with mates on a Friday evening, or escaping the weather (whether it's a cosy evening inside or cooling off outside). Their cheese and bacon burger is amazing and their prices are very reasonable. It's a pity the surroundings (and top floor of the building) aren't better kept, as it makes the restaurant feel dingier than it is. The bathroom could also be cleaner. But otherwise, no complaints!

Popped in for a quick bite to eat during the week. Narona is simply decorated yet still has a warm ambience/vibe to it. The staff are friendly and super chilled, I felt like I was having a conservation with a friend!
I ordered the BAM (bacon avo and mushroom) pizza and Scott Barrett went for a classic Alfredo. My pizza was quite bland and needed salt, which I do not often add to food. The Alfredo pasta was good, not often can this dish be messed up.
Service was a bit slow due to the multitude of deliveries that are called in.
I would return to try something different, upon paying the bill I did overhear that the cheesecake is out of this world good - definitely a must when I ever return 😊

Narona is one of those places you just don't expect to walk out ecstatic about. Walking out of Narona, I could happily reflect on the flavour of the pizza I had just devoured - a tasty, saucy and uniquely seasoned pizza. My pizza was heated - the chilli was something I was not prepared for, but my surprise quickly turned into a grin as I tried to eat it as fast as my eyes were watering. The small and laid back environment was unassuming of the potently delicious food they put out. This is a great place to hang out and catch up with your friends - something I found natural in the atmosphere of Narona.
Oh and wow, the food was great value - a must try.
A solid 80%.

Ordered some take out. Pizza and lasagne - the pizza is quite good, nice base and wood fired oven, but the cheese isn't very good and they use a bit too much of it.

The lasagne, though, was inedible, totally flavourless and almost off-smelling. Two bites and it had to be discarded. Won't be back

I Heard so many good things about this tiny little place and they were all true! The pizza is flavourful and generously sized, and the bottles of wine are well enough priced to keep you buzzing!
Cape Town Diva
This tiny restaurant is great for pizza and pasta and amazing prices. Wine by the glass is well priced too. With two sons who have big appetites, Narona is a fantastic option on those nights I refuse to cook. The standard and service is consistent too- always an incentive to return time and again.

We order pizza take outs from Narona at least twice a month. Their delivery time is definitely the fastest. I have tried a variety and have my favourites. Their base is delicious. The pricing is amazing and not comparable to other pizza restaurants. A large pizza is roughly R72.
Tafel Vir Twee
What this establishment lacks in "vibe" it makes up for in great prices and location. This is a nice place to come enjoy a drink and a reasonably prices, decent pizza. Nothing special about it, but nothing terrible either.

Relaxed atmosphere, great coffee, vibey music and reasonable prices for really good food. I am a regular visitor to narona and have been very happy with the service and food every time.

I love this place. Best pizza in CT and the burgers aren't bad at all. Definitely try it! It's very small and the vibe is awesome. Staff are also very friendly

This little gem of a restaurant in the heart of Observatory was a pretty good lunch. Chilled vibes and good food nothing better than that. I had a simple chicken, avocado and feta pizza it's was wood fried to perfection! Crispy thin base and extra cheesy. Overall a good place for affordable pizza that tastes amazing.

Great value for money, food is delicious and great cocktails! Nothing fancy but really good for a chilled night, great for a date its very intimate

A lovely neighborhood spot for anyone in Gardens / Wembley Square / southern sections of the CBD. The staff are very friendly and remarkably soft-spoken. They contribute to the place having a very calm and relaxed vibe, even when it is full of people having a great time (watching a game of cricket on TV, for instance, or playing one of several board games that Narona has for its customers'enjoyment). Some friends and I ate pizzas there and I must say that in that part of town this is the closest one gets to genuine brick-oven pizza...thin crust and baked just right. Nothing mindblowing about the sauces or toppings, but at least one feels like one is eating real pizza (which is more than one can say for a lot of pizza/flatbread options in the neighborhood). We were all happy with what we ordered, and felt very well looked after by the super sweet folks running the place. When once of us asked for a modification to the order, the restaurant took it in their stride and made the switch as fast as they could. It's a non-pretentious, very genuine kind of place where you'll get to see a broad range of people (and outfits), from the grungy and hipstery to the hip. All in all, a casual dining experience that does not disappoint.

A relaxed environment and light interiors make it feel like a spot where you can take your time to enjoy your conversation and your meal. A good variety of menu options make it an easy choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
