Great german bakery that we walked by on our way down from table mountain. It was such a nice day so we decided to walk all the way from table mountain when we came across this bakery. They have really cute outdoor seating in the backyard. Great selection of breakfast options as well as pastries ans coffee drinks. We got the green juice which was delicious as well!

Breath of fresh air on Kloof street. Homely, welcoming and warm atmosphere with quaint and quirky decor. Personal family business service with delicious deli and traditional bakery delicatessen. Don't forget the secret back garden and up stairs book shop for a treat. Magic little escape gem

Dinkel bakery is a charming little gem of a place. The sweet smell of cookies greet you when you enter through the doors and you are immediately transported to a cosy little German kitchen. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be the Dinkel Bakery Hot Dog! It is amazing. The service is very good and the staff is very welcoming. I would recommend a visit to this place to anyone!

Had some lovely pancakes with banana, bacon and syrup. The red cappuccino was very good. Need to go back to try more items. Everything looked great!

Very nice place! As a German I have to say very close to the real German food. Also the waitress is very polite and nice. Fulfilled even a special request (avocado bread) that was not on the menu.

A lovely little Bakery in an otherwise busy street. Excellent service from Kane, great breakfast and really good Pflaumenkuchen and Poppy seed cake specially baked for us on request. Thank you again Kane. See you April.

This place has the cutest little hidden courtyard!

Stopped by for a mid-morning pick me up. Heard they had spelt croissants and just had to get me one. Sadly, they were all sold out. 😢

Then decided to have one of the pig’s ears. Haven’t had one in years and this one was dipped in chocolate. It’s quite dense and not as light and flakey as the ones I used to eat years ago. The coffee is good though, and it’s served with a little ginger cookie.

Spotted some pretzel sticks and buns and decided to take one home for later.

Will need to come back for those spelt croissants at some point.

As a German myself, I've been curious about Dinkel Bakery for a while. Eventually, I decided to give in to the delicious smells wafting outside the shop and see what they had to offer. The interior is beautifully quaint, and perfectly emulates the kind of coffee shop one would find in Europe. Even the aromas emanating from the bakery area reminded me of Germany. I also enjoyed the fact that one can come in and buy all sorts of fresh products to take home.

We decided to stay for a light lunch, and ordered one of the more classic German sandwiches, which was wonderfully fresh and full of flavour. It's becoming quite uncommon for restaurants to refrain from deep-frying or drenching everything in butter and melted cheese, so I really appreciated the wholesomeness of the meal - again, very true to German cuisine. After that, we tried a slice of apple cake with freshly whipped cream. It was served slightly warm, and counterbalanced the freshness of the sandwich with its sweet, fluffy, buttery textures. Over all, the prices were also very reasonable, and the service was efficient and unobtrusive.

Of course, I needed to take a little memento home with me, and opted for a sourdough loaf that was still warm from the oven. I am well impressed with the authenticity of Dinkel and their products and would highly recommend giving them a try. There is also a German book shop upstairs, which also warrants a visit.

Possibly the best breakfast I've ever had in Cape Town. Authentic German bakery. Wow. Totally blown away. In a world overrun by commercialized crap, this place is just what we need. Thank you!

A hidden little place and I'm glad I spotted it while driving past. After threatening to go in every time I passed I just stopped one day and went inside for a sweet treat and a treat it was indeed! Lovely cake slices for take away, a definite must try is the Beesting cake! To die for.
