Review Caffe Neo - Cape Town Central

What a lovely spot for breakfast will go for lunch next time! Greek Yoghurt with roasted Pistachios and a Spanikopita. Moment you arrive you are welcomed and excellent service. Good coffee, yoghurt served in layers making it even more enjoyable.

What a wonderful afternoon meal! Both the breakfast menu and lunch menus, really cater something for everybody. I highly recommend the Dolmades and the Souvlaki, the Breakfast Burger was also fantastic! Thanks Caffe Neo Team, will definitely return!

Had a stroll around the lighthouse and went looking for coffee. Was hoping for a Greek coffee but they had run out. Delicious croissant but we waited quite long to receive our order.
Simona Marinkova
I was going for a walk around Green Point and got take away coffee and croissant. The service was fast and polite, and the croissant was just fresh and still warm. I enjoyed the coffee too.

This is a Greek deli style restaurant. It is great to have a walk along the Sea Point promenade and then stop off here to have something to eat. The food is fresh and very good quality. It is a popular and busy place

Whenever we visit the playground right next to the Lighhouse, we always cross the road to grab some ice cream from Caffe Neo. They have a little window serving option and the kids can quickly pick their favourite flavours. They don't have a massive choice, but it's just enough for the kids and the great thing is (for me as a parent) that they do baby scoops as well. They also serve coffee and vegan ice cream for those who fancy that.

Great quality food, good service and friendly staff from when you walk in. Baked goods are freshly made. Very clean, wheelchair and pet friendly. Ample parking for cars and motors bikes. Good view of the bay and lighthouse, we will definitely return. Thank you.
Louis Pretorius
This great local eatery offers super food, with a relaxed atmosphere, excellent service & staff. Views of the Green Point Lighthouse are free. Bring your dog and your bike, they're all welcome.

I love coffee and this is an easy place to do so. On this occasion it was particularly special being with my Grandparents as they intermittently ignored me to read the paper. I am able to have the most interesting conversations with them but now was not the time. This is an easy café to enjoy good conversation accompanied by very friendly (and good) service. With a great view of the promenade this is a great vantage point to enjoy the sport of people-watching (if you don't already enjoy the sea view)

Great vibe. Great view. Great coffee. Nice WiFi. They have a nice and long bench inside with multiple electric points to charge laptops. Didn't get to eat there, only coffee and it was great. Lots of light comes into the store so it feels like you're outside enjoying the breeze. The staff are very friendly too.

Traveling to Cape Town with a 6 month old, and this place was by far the friendliest and most helpful service. It was incredibly accommodating for an establishment that is not marketed as a child friendly place. Thank you!!
Nicolette Mudaly
Always consistently delicious and fresh food and friendly, attentive service. Lovely views and varied menu options. Coffee was delicious.
Amanda Blankfield-Koseff
Lovely location, friendly staff and great food. Good for social and business.
Annemi Brand
What a super breakfast, we will definitely be back! We loved the fried halloumi and great tasting sausages, and eggs cooked to perfection on all our plates. The mocca coffee... Pure goodness! Wonderful view of the lighthouse and the sea adds that special magic. Loved every minute at your Cafe.
Kaitlyn Williams
Shared a lovely breakfast with old friends here. Pleasant surroundings with the fresh sea breeze in the air. The food was fresh and vibrant looking, to match the staff.
Tiffy*Twinkle
The service is really nothing to rave about, but rather convenient when you pop by to work because they don’t come around often. It’s not the cleanest establishment, if you can manage to type with the one hand and whip away flies with the other you’ll be fine. The coffee is ok.
Faye Bonn
Lovely food and nice atmosphere. Great views of the ocean and Robben Island. Bit pricey though, but it’s “almost” Sea Point, so to be expected:-)

We ordered lamb pitas for lunch. A 4” pita cut in half. 1 slice of tomato, some shredded lettuce, a dash of tzatiki and a teaspoon of “shredded lamb” which was largely gravy. For 100 bucks when the cost price can’t possibly exceed R10 is a complete rip off. Never again! You guys are in a prime tourist spot and that’s how they get treated? Not on!
Then let’s hit the latrine facilities. 2 Loos. One occupied so I go to the other one. I have never never ever seen anything so disgusting in any public facility. It’s probably not your guys fault but there it was and open to the public. No one your side checked what was going on back stage. Like I said, never again guys, sorry.

I’ve been here a few times for breakfast and have never been disappointed. I love the vibe and the staff are possibly the friendliest people. You’re always welcomed with massive smiles! The environment is very relaxed with people having meetings, working or just catching up. I’ve heard the breakfast sandwich is a favourite and they are very accommodating towards vegetarians. The roasted pistachio and yoghurt dish is apparently stunning too.

We came in for a cup of coffee and ended up ordering some spanakopita and dolmades. The spanakopita is beautifully made and the filling is not overpowering like some of the others I have had. The dolmades are DIVINE! I have to hold myself back when it comes to these as I would eat the entire display dish. Their salad bar is so beautiful that I will definitely return to have try a selection of them.
Yajna Gold
A nice play with a view with great soya milk lattes and overpriced food, but I still enjoy it!
The salad bar and menu always has something good to get

I've been to Caffe Neo twice and was disappointed twice. On the first occasion I spent more time trying to get my waiter's attention to take my order than sitting back and enjoying the view. My cappuccino came cold as did the food. I ordered a breakfast and asked if I could change something for avo. The waiter said, quite rudely, that I would have to pay if I wanted something extra. I didn't have a problem with this, I was just enquiring if it would be possible to change.

On the second occasion, the service was once again so awful that after getting my cappuccino I decided to leave rather than sit and order breakfast.

I doubt I will go back considering there are so many stunning restaurants in the same area with better service.

Great meal light lunch sandwiches and a glass
Of Chardonnay with this view and great vide. Service good Very relaxing with melissa morris #pricelass

Great service as soon as you walk in the door. My delicious and healthy roast beef salad was served quickly. Super spot to catch up on some work with charging points for laptops and mobile phones - Complimentary WiFi helps too.
Megan Bellinger
Cafe Neo has the perfect spot, sunny deck over looking the mouille point lighthouse and ocean, what more could you want :)
Their menu is Mediterranean influenced, and all written up on a blackboard.
We went for some mezze and shared a full board - you get to choose 5, plus with pita bread. They didn't have pita so gave us Turkish bread instead, which was quite nice. Also, the deli area to choose from looked a little empty and sad.
It's Def a board to share if you aren't too hungry, otherwise order your own!
Our waiter was friendly enough... Sometimes we really struggled to get his attention and he seemed a bit too relaxed at times.
Otherwise, an enjoyable visit.
Ann Keating Druce
Great little coffee shop with good food, good service and a fantastic location. Well worth a visit for more than coffee too. Delicious croissants with tomato, basil and feta and some very appealing light meal options. I also enjoyed a Sorbet drink - a kind of grown-up slushie. Deliciously tart and not too sweet. Will definitely be back.
Jessy Lipperts
Love coming here to work and be super productive. It always works and the coffee and views are great. This morning I treated myself to a delicious breakfast. Nice and fresh with good eggs Benedict. I keep coming back. Awesome spot!
Natalie Lazaris
Lived in Cape Town for 5 years and this was my Saturday brunch spot. A Latte and a fresh piece of homemade baklava. Visiting recently again to see the family, I tried out this spot for my traditional meal and it's still good. The setting is beautiful. I mean right in front is the lighthouse and overlooking the most beautiful sea. On a summers day, cafe neo is the spot. The Greeks just get it right 😀
Jenna Rodd
Had a quick coffee and breakfast at Cafe Neo this morning. It was a very decent breakfast while looking at the beautiful promenade and lighthouse in Mouille Point. The eggs were all cooked perfectly and the menu is extensive and offers exciting Greek options such as fried Haloumi cheese.
Lauren Woolley
Great food with a view. They have a wonderful variety of tasty breakfasts and Mediterranean dishes. You have the option to chose food from the menu or from a selection of delicious pre-made salads and dishes that are on display.
Elaine
Friendly and considerate service! Good food served quickly, light meals only. The coffee is fair. My tip: stick to the milky stuff when you are visiting here
Chantelle Lamusse
after an early morning jog on the promenade we looked at the options and this looked busy so we tried it out. From walking in service was great. We ate the Greek breakfast coming with Hallumi, mushrooms bacon and egg. Good portions, always busy which is a great indicator.
Sky
Love the yoghurt pistachio and honey. An Absolute treat I've been back for many times. Convenient on the mouille point beach front. Doggie friendly. Wifi.
Paula Zolezzi
Convenient location, great facilities, clever to accept dogs, pleasant Mediterranean atmosphere. Waiters willing and prompt. Easy parking and OK coffee. Price quite acceptable. Big plus they have Camomile Tea. Often my chosen meeting point.
Elize Cloete
Great service and a wonderful menu

I really enjoyed having a coffee here in the mornings while I stayed in Cape Town

Do yourself a favour and take a walk down

Surprisingly charming cafe in Green Point.

We found this café while walking by and really didn't expect anything. However, ths place looks nice, the coffee ist good and reasonably priced for being so close to the promenade.

There is also a shady outside deck and much seating available on the inside. The staff was friendly. There is also free WiFi available, which might just make this place great for working in a very charming location.

I was positivley suprised and will probably come back again!
Jana Williams
Love the view and the big working table. Often come there to work a few hours. Service was always good and food delicious! Will come back again.
Jonathan Holmes
A great Cape Town institution you must visit. In a perfect location right near the lighthouse in Mouille Point, you can have breakfast or lunch enjoying the ocean breeze. Very convenient for a business meeting or just to work on your laptop away from the office. They have free wi-fi and plug points. The coffee isn't great, but try their Greek breakfast, or my favorite, a selection of 4 or 6 salads from their deli for a very reasonable price.
Lindie White
Great cappuccinos. Delicious breakfast sandwich (enough for 2). Complimentary wifi. Sharp service. Go-to spot for small business meetings. Parking nearby. Always buzzing. Order delicious Greek salads at the counter.

Caffe Neo is a trendy health spot in Greenpoint. The vibe is bustling with energy from the moment you walk in. The service is good- they take the time to explain the menu to you. It's not an easy task to choose an item though- there's so much on offer! The smoothies are my go to preference but to eat I'd recommend the Greek herb chicken breast on rye- it's wonderful.
Glen Loxton
I had a pretty impressive breakfast, I can't recall what it was but there was way more egg and bacon than I expected and it was at a perfectly normal price (which one wouldn't expect of a place in this area). We sat in the patio area which overlooks a section of the seapoint shorefront, breakfast with a view is always good. A big hit with the seapoint yuppies, this place can get very busy and has lots of seating and plenty of friendly staff for just that reason.
Stephen Chapman
We stopped at cafe Neo to have a light breakfast. I had the smoked trout breakfast which was trout, avo, rocket and poached eggs. The meal was great. The staff friendly and the atmosphere brilliant and open, overlooking the lighthouse. All in all a nice experience.
Louis Coetzee
Bad service, waiter not up to standard, bring coffee once, dont ask about drinks with meals. All waiters watching soccer, no manager on the floor.
Expensive dishes,
Blunt and tasteless meals.
Would not recommend coming here for breakfast at all.
Christine Buchanan
Not very child friendly. My 10 year old wanted fries which they don't serve. Then we asked for a toasted ham sandwich, but they don't serve ham either (but they do serve bacon??? go figure!). We then asked for a Nutella croissant which was on the menu, but guess what? They had no croissants!! Finally we ordered 2 warm tuna panini but they only had tuna for one! Very unimpressed
Having said that, the service was excellent and the food not bad, even though the tomatoes on my Haloumi Kaprese (sic) were green and tasteless. Maybe they ran out of tomatoes as well. Won't be going back.
Brett Page
The worst management I've seen in a very long time. He needs to be got rid of very quickly because it seems that his bad attitude is filtering down to the other waiters. I'm shocked!!!!!!
Kimberly Crunkleton
Always packed and justifiably so. A fine sea breeze, beautiful people, and "spot on" breakfasts, coffees, and lunches abound. As a vegetarian I appreciate having fresh tasty options that aren't limited to the all-too-familiar creamed spinach and butternut.
Michael Nurick
We stopped after a visit to the nearby kids playground with a two year old child. The venue does not cater for young children.

That is however not the reason for the poor review. The meza selection was off putting. The selection was poor and did not look appetizing at all. The pastry goodies on display did not look any better.

I ordered a smoothie with yoghurt and shared a brownie with someone. The smoothie was very average and the brownie below standard.

Not a good experience.
Trevor Pols
One beautiful Cape Town Summer's morning I decided to take my beast out for a breakfast run. Then I stumbled upon this bustling little cafe. Service was average, couldn't complain, but I felt could be improved on. The breakfast was good all round and gets a solid 7/10 the coffee on the same rating. Overall a very nice place that I would definitely go back to. Enjoy!
Maja Debeljkovic
Don't bother with this place. Arrogant and uninterested staff. Very poor quality food. Only advantage is the sea view but definitely won't be going back.
Rowan Katzew
Always blowing hot and cold...

Food is usually very good. Service is usually between bad and ridiculously so. It's hard to understand how one can be ignored in such a small place, with that many waiters.

Last three times I've been they haven't had ice, then feta, then ice again.

Pasticcio is great. Mousaka is good, albeit a bit oily sometimes. The sandwiches are good but a tad boring. The coffee is great

All together a bit disappointing usually, particularly due to the service. But food wise usually a safe bet for a good meal.
Jonathan Keytel
Had breakfast here with a colleague. The coffee was good and the staff were friendly. The menu has a lot of variety. I had the hot Greek breakfast which was disappointing - the eggs were overdone, I got a tiny piece of faux Halloumi cheese that was tasteless. Overall the meal was unseasoned and flavorless. Very disappointing.

A beautiful seaside cafe with a Mediterranean based menu that has a view over the lighthouse in Sea Point - not hard to see why it is so popular!

In the mornings, cyclists abound and they stop for their regular cup of coffee. Later, the workforce show up and enjoy their fresh spread of dishes, some of which you can go dish up from at the counters. The wifi makes it a perfect option for those who continue to stay after lunch, preferring to work on their computers. They have plugs underneath some tables for this reason too.

I personally love their platter option, where you can make your own platter to enjoy with a glass of wine. The food is flavourful, fresh and true to its roots.

Whether you just need to escape a very busy CBD or Campus, or want to hang out with friends, Caffe Neo has a little for everyone.
Gillian
I love using this place as one of my wifi offices - great view, fast internet, friendly staff and a well frequented bank of plug points for those sitting here for a long period of time.
The menu is greek based and you have a daily selection of fresh salads to choose from. I had the keftedes (lamb & beef meatballs with fresh mint and parsley) with tsaziki and 2 salad choices (I went for the Greek and artichoke salads). Tasty, well seasoned and quick! Might walk it off on the promenade for some fresh sea air ;)
Bame Modungwa
Paid Caffe Neo a visit this morning for breakfast with friends. Really quaint cafe, I imagine it looks great with the lighting during summer. Breakfast options are limited to 5 choices though they have a 'make your own' breakfast option which I went for. A little pricey as a result of the individual pricing on each portion. Service was good, toast was tough, overall an average experience.
I Love Foodies
Caffe Neo is a lovely little spot on the Mouille Point promenade, offering great sea views and the fresh smell of the ocean. It's away from the hustle-bustle of the Sea Point promenade, so it's quite nice to lounge here for some yummy breakfast or lunch options. They have some great breakfast options to choose from, as well as salads, sandwiches, mezes, and a deli counter. On my last visit I came to do some work - they have good wifi and plug points, so great for the freelancer - and enjoyed some coffee and an out-of-this-world slice of cheesecake. Definitely worth the visit!
Divan Van Der Merwe
Great meze plate with artichoke, pita, humus and feta. Strawberry smoothie great too. Good view, dog friendly and nice art throughout the store.
Jodi King
Stopped off on our way back from a walk along the promenade! The coffee was delicious and it was is dog friendly too- which is a bonus! The lamb pita was above average but I thought could have had a bit more sauce. But over all, it was an enjoyable short visit :)
Thando Bangiso
The lamb tsatsiki. Shauns flatwhite. The amazing views of the lighthouse. The Atlantic ocean. The dangerous Greek man in the kitchen making the mousakka. We call him Papu! He's the greatest. After all his name is Alexander the great.

This place will always hae my heart. Very homely. Great service from the waiters who know u by name.
AG
Short and sweet, random stop over for a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Food was delicious, ambience was light and airy, service was great and location is just perfect.
Roland
Beautiful cafe in greenpoint next to the lighthouse. Its been here for many years and theres a reason for that. It has a large inside and outside seating area with a beautiful view. The food is good and the service reasonable.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. Or stop in on your beachfront walk for a cup of coffee.
Emily And Steve
We enjoyed delicious butternut soup and a chicken sandwich at Cafe Neo. The soup arrived cold and they had run out of the bread we wanted, but the manager made up for it by giving us coffees on the house after re-heating the soup for us. We really appreciated that we could bring our little dog to enjoy lunch with us before taking her for a walk on the promenade.
Greg Christy
This vibey coffee , breakfast or lunch spot is absolutely wonderful . The coffee is excellent . The breakfasts are first class and the Greek yoghurt honey and pistachio nuts breakfast is first class.
The view and open balcony area create a relaxing atmosphere . Staff is attentive and efficient . I would definitely recommend
Hend Amer
You can't help but fall in love with this cafe. Make sure that you sit on the balcony to enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean. Although their menu is limited, their buffet choice just add the needed variety. If you are looking for a quick snack just order their freshly baked croissant
Mademoiselle Nomad
I can't understand the poor reviews. This is my local spot. It's perfect if you want to work with your laptop as they have this huuuuge table with sufficient space for your laptop, your books and notes and pens AND your coffee AND your large plate of food. Ok service can be a bit slow sometimes but you're not really there to just indulge food. It's to enjoy the view, being so close to the ocean and the iconic lighthouse of Mouille Point. It's also great as they allow you to take your dog in (well on the outdoor patio area) and great for moms to go with prams and baby to have a tea or light meal after walking along the promenade. The food is delicious - from their hearty breakfasts to the mezzes, the moussaka is amazingly delicious and my all-time-favourite. I also love the pasta with cinnamon, was strange at first but it's grown on me! Lovely waiters (they seem to have been there for ages, which means they are taken good care of, in turn it means they are happy there and will take good care of you!). Try their carrot cake and red velvet cakes. Lovely salads too.
Leroux Botha
Not worth your money. The foodtakes extremely longto arrive and when it arrives it is cold, unappetizing and all cooked inthe same pan. Such a pity, because the view is amazing... And thats about it.
David F. Hagen
cool evening with fog and fog horn operating. coffee very hot and strong. wifi very very slow only kbits great pity. ambiance always good. service fast today. did not eat , had a coffee and wine only
Dimitri
Warm beer, "Greek chicken" pita was a chicken mayo sandwich in pita. Such a good spot needs to have better food, get beer on tap like everyone else. All round disappointing
Samuel Sebata
I had visitors from Pretoria and we ordered a couple of Roast Beef and Caramelised Onion sandwiches and Beef Pitas. The Beef had a very off smell and it tasted terrible. When the manager was called to sort it out. He tasted one of the sandwiches and insisted it tastes ok to him and told everyone there's nothing he can do for us but we must pay for it. Very rude and didn't even offer an option to replace it for something else. He gave us the "I don't care what you do" attitude when we told him this is going on social media. Unacceptable service especially in a tourist area. Restaurants with such bad service should be removed from occupying prime tourism spots in #CapeTown.
Rael Resnick
Shit service. Couldn't even get coffee as there were no glasses. We were only told this after they had brought some of the coffees. Not even an apology made. They did not seem to care.
Waited 10 min for the bill and then it was wrong. Thank goodness it was only 2 coffees. Not worth a revisit. There are much better places to go to
Ariella Resnick
This place has such bad service. Couldn't even get a hot chocolate. The excuse was that they didn't have anymore glasses. What a pathetic restaurant.
Lawrenceresnick
This place is disgusting - coffee brought in dirty cup - told my family cannot have a coffee at the same time as they have not got enough cups - time to leave asap dingy to to max
Carrie Le Roux
We had breakfast on a very very busy Sunday morning and didn't have a very good experience. We ordered a breakfast which cost R70 but asked to substitute our bacon for salmon. The waiter advised us there would be an extra charge which we were ok with. When the bill came however we saw that the extra charge was R50 for the two slices of salmon (in spite of not having the bacon) meaning we paid R120 for our breakfasts each... I alerted the manager to this being unreasonable and he agreed and explained that higher management had set the instruction and kindly asked to take my email address so they could make contact with me in the week and sort it out. Higher management never bothered to contact me. My experience of caffe neo is that management's attitude towards their diners is arrogant and the food unmemorable.
Zeenat Patel
A nice place to have breakfast or lunch when the weather is good as it offers views of the ocean. Try to get a table on the patio. We had the yoghurt with pistachios and honey for breakfast along with a halloumi kaprese salad. Both were fresh and delicious. The smoothies and sandwiches looked divine and I can't wait to try them the next time I need a snack after a stroll on the promenade.
