AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I purchased a Hyperli voucher for this place after seeing their advert & browsing the menu options (they advertised having the lamb shank as part of the Hyperli deal, so that was my main reason for purchasing). The deal was for two mains and a shared dessert.

It’s located in Greenmarket Square, and if you’re familiar with this area, you’ll know how many colorful people you’ll find roaming the streets. We came at around 6ish, so all the vendors were packing up & there was a busker performing to the sounds of a drummer and sax player. The restaurant decor is a bit strange, for lack of a better word. It seems quirky at first but once you actually settle down, you notice how things don’t actually fit. There’s writing on the wall and old books hanging from the ceiling, and it doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in a while with a very dim interior (this should’ve been our first warning sign)

Once seated, I presented the voucher only to be told that they are not providing any of the options that were stated & that we could only basically choose a selection of pasta. This made me very annoyed because the lamb shank was the only reason I purchased this voucher in the first place, and I was told that it was removed from the menu. I then asked for the chicken (also an option stated on the Hyperli/Bellini offer) and was told that was also unavailable. So we ended up choosing gnocchi in a arrabbiata sauce and linguine in a bolognese sauce. We started off with an avocado bruschetta which looked extremely unappealing but was actually quite fresh, perhaps the only good point of the evening.

The glasses on the table were filthy and the one cocktail that was ordered, a frozen Margherita came with no tequila. When we sent it back asking for it to be topped up with a shot of tequila as you couldn’t taste a drop of it, we watched the bar staff look very uncomfortable in their discussion with the waiter. Turns out that there actually wasn’t any tequila left and they offered to make a different cocktail. This was shocking because they were willing to charge us full price for a tequila cocktail that had no tequila, instead of just saying that that too, wasn’t available.....

After feeling extremely let down, we decided to skip the dessert that was part of the deal and leave, before being subjected to more disappointment. The lack of lighting in the venue and the old furniture was starting to make my skin crawl, and I’m not 100% sure how I managed to eat the food and keep it down.

Will never be visiting this place again.

Terrible Pepperoni sold as salami. Terrible Bruchita. Never again. Ugh, we are 3 people and we're not touching the Salami. Far better places to eat within meters from here.

Had really good pasta and enjoyed the decor in the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and the food was prepared quickly and was really satisfying!

Came for a quick cocktail before dinner on a Friday evening. Unfortunately the atmosphere is tainted by the clanging of traders packing up in Green Market Square, and is not helped by the loud Italian music the restaurant plays. We had Spritz cocktails. They weren't great; we didn't finish them. Not a wonderful experience overall.

Dave was an excellent host. Food was okay. We came on a groupon voucher. Had the steak. Good butter basting but nothing super special. I'll come back but only on a groupon.

This is by far the most terrible place in Cape Town. It used to be great and then things changed and it has become quite pathetic. Has an old wrinkled waitress that ignores any black person and only serves white people. Deliberately so, returning to them to check if they are okay, rushing to attend to new customers whilst I the black person have been sitting there for over an hour with no one attending to me. Never returning here and would not recommend it to anyone.
We arrived quite late on Wednesday night desperately in need of food after taking part in "Tuning the Vine" in the CBD. Quaint typical Italian feel outside but very different decor inside, inspired by the owners love of history, I loved it. Service was a bit on the slower side (maybe we were just too hungry) but we had a real friendly waitress (Riana) which made up for it. We ordered Minestrone and Bruschetta di Premana which came with pesto, feta and rocket and of freshly chopped tomato, a welcome change to the usual. The Minestrone was piping hot and delicious. Next up was Tagliata Pescegallo for Mr A which consisted of perfectly seared tender Sirloin cut into slices served with rocket, cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I opted for the Clam Pasta and I must say I have never had so many clams (and they were not tiny) served in one portion. It was delicious but I did feel the lack of white wine would have elevated the meal. Mr A ordered Tiramisu which was nice (I thought a bit too creamy). Great meal had and we had a lovely time meeting Chef Shepard who came to check on the meal. A good evening had and we will go back. (Ps: they also offer free (Wi-Fi)

A nice little place, very kitsch looking like something out a Italian stage production. Very tasty food and worth the visit. And not giving it a good rating because the friendly adorable waiter has the same name I have.

Sat for a late night dinner. Good service and the pizzas were quite good. Little in the expensive side but definitely plan to visit for breakfast
Useless, expensive. The waitresses are particularly skilled at ignoring you. Avoid it all costs. Not worth me thinking of extra bad word for the review
