Great music scene, mediocre food at best. The place could be cleaner, however a bit of dust does suit a jazz bar in some ways. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Lovely little gem. Great atmosphere, small and intimate. Food was delicious, well cooked and well presented. Very attentive waiters. We decided next time we go we need yo go early and make a whole night of it, this time we walked in an hour before closing and we wanted to stay longer!

The place as a great vibe: great food and great live music with extremely friendly and helpfull service. There is seriously no better place for a jazz lover to spend some money. The menu is basic, but everything is delicious. I especially like the beer battered hake and the bitterballen. The place is great for a romantic evening or a jazz joll with friends and provides probably the coolest decor in the city. Enjoy.

There is nothing like experience in the Crypt in person. It's not just the live music it's all about the local genius artists who play the music make you love this place even more.

Locally flavoured jazz in an amazing setting. 3 piece band an female singer on that evening. Cocktails and OK wine selection. Food not bad, we are everything...

Great service by the friendly and professional staff in a unique environment. The music was great and we thoroughly enjoyed listening and dancing to Afro Fiesta! The food (we had Steak Frites and apple crumble) was good, but not great. This is a place to visit for the music and atmosphere, not the food.

This restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem, situated underneath a cathedral the view is breathtaking. Historical facts are displayed on the way to the entrance and once you get it it is a very cozy restaurant with amazing live jazz bands to entertain you. Even the waiter sang when I was there. The food is also good and the service was prompt.

Amazing entertainment. On the night a group called Afro Fiesta were there. Highly recommended looking out for them to be there. My food was really good but small portion. Definitely could have done with more food. Had a curry. All other people at our table of 4 were disappointed with their meal. Especially since the prices can be considered above average.

Spent a great evening here despite a mix up with on line booking which meant we joined a sharer’s table which was fine. All the staff were attentive and although the food was a little slow there was great music to keep you entertained. The music was great, with a distinct African style to jazz. The place was packed and everyone was having a good time. Some tables talking over the music but I suppose you can expect this at a jazz restaurant rather than a jazz ‘club’. Good selection of wines and beers and prices by UK standards were a steal. Two good main courses, a bottle of Glenwood Chardonnay, bottle of still water and the cover charge only came to £42 between two. Doorman was good and organised a reputable taxi for us within a few minutes of us wanting to leave around 11.00pm.

Really great music, Future Legends killed it. The only issue we had was the R95 beer and burger special. The website still shows the special but when we asked our waiter about it he said that it is no longer in use, which was a bit misleading.

Cool jazz restaurant. Book ahead. The food is average. Very interesting ambience as the restaurant is set at the corner of a church! The restaurant lists its liquor licence in november so for the next two or three months bring your own. There is a corkage fee... oh and book a table. It is a small intimate place that fills up fast... I will come back here again... I hope that will have better food... the same beautiful music... and a liquor licence ;-)

The Venue is situated in the Crypt of the St George's Cathedral in Wale St Cape Town. It's done out very nicely with Old Pictures of the area, has a small Stage for the Jazz Bands. The Food is Bistro Style they also have a Liquor Licence so everything is on offer, The Wine List is Very Good. They offer discounts for Seniors over 60, I had my 70th Birthday their with a party of 8. There is a Cover Charge off R110 pp food & drink is not included. The Menu has Gourmet Burgers, Fish and French Fries, pizzas, etc The Vegetarian menu is limited. It's has an electic vibe, and cosy seating which are comfortable. Seats about 150 people. Booking is essential as no walk-in's. The Service is 4star waitresses are friendly and efficient but kept busy. Food waiting time around 20 minutes as food is made on Order, Drinks are brought promptly. They do have Credit card machine's which are portable which are brought to the table. The Jazz Bands are different every Evening check on their Website to see who is playing on your Evening and book accordingly so you won't be disappointed.

Five stars for the music & the food! It's probably the most reasonable meal I've had in five weeks of eating out in Cape Town. The only down side is it too hot but the menu served as a good makeshift fan!

Awesome music on a Saturday night! I took a tapas plate for 2. It was average. No alcohol is served, but BYO is allowed. Lot's of people had their own wine. Go for the music, you'll spend a wonderful evening. Entry is 100ZRA.

What an experience!!! Located in the cellar of the St Georges Cathedral on Central Capetown, this upper class restaurant and live music venue allows for the most enjoyable live music and dining experience ever. It is very intimate, and is an absolute MUST DO.

Very nice people. Great music. They have a new chef so I tried the Chicken Burger and it was the best I have ever had. The music was amazing that the service was great.

I love this place for multiple reasons , it is located in basement of st George cathedral which has great political significance during the apartheid times, they have a gallery of pictures representing a few incidents. Then we attended live jazz music performance which was simply outstanding. They HV played around interior of the church n not changed it a lot which is lovely because of the Victorian details in the architecture

This was an exceptional evening. From the food, to the decor and setting, to the service, and of course the jazz. We were lucky enough to catch the Tina Schouw Quartet when we visited. I can't recommend the place highly enough.
