Review Blowfish Restaurant - Cape Town Central

Brandon Kleyn
Outstanding restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was spot on. I would recommend that before you go that you make a reservation to secure a table. If you book a table, make sure to get one by the windows, and you will have a gorgeous view of the beach and the kite surfers. The setting is semi-formal, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I would definitely visit them again.

Blowfish Restaurant was a great experience. The food was fantastic, the service was good and atmosphere was very nice. My family and I went to Blowfish Restaurant in Blouberg for a dinner, I had the Seafood Platter for 1 and so did my son, my wife had the crayfish dish and it was absolute delicious. We had oysters for a started and it was nice and fresh, devine . Service was a bit slow and they were not very busy at the time of the evening we went but the overall experience was great. Thank you.

Tastefully decorated with excellent views. Attentive waiter and manager, great menu with fresh seafood and delicious salads. Cocktails are excellent quality, not watered down

very friendly staff. Every Monday there is a special offer of a plate of seafood (shrimps, fish, squid, mussels, salad and bulgur) for only R120. They served us our food very quickly. the place is beautiful and landscaped. I liked seeing the sunset here. I recommend booking a table in advance.

The two things I like about this little germ in Blouberg is their sushi and amazing views of the ocean and table mountain. Take your special one and go and enjoy a candle light dinner at Blowfish. No problem if you have kids but let grannies do what they do best if you need a romantic evening with a special one.

Excellent sushi last night! Crème brûlée is fabulous too! Had salmon tuna and crab and all was lovely presentation and flavorful! Absolutely beautiful venue and perfect for a couple, a few or even a crowd for sure!!Dine in take out both are available and staff is very accommodating. Be sure to finish with coffee was very satisfying ❤️

So enjoyed our prawns again on Thursday. We will be back! I reserve as Leslie by the way. My favourite sea food restaurant in Blouberg.

Generally had a good experience when I've visited the restaurant. Good tasty food, the sushi is good (not the best, but not bad either). Other food items on the menu are tasty though, so you should expect a good meal at good value. Got a good ambience and can be a romantic setting. Can get loud when the place is packed but otherwise it's pleasant. They sometimes have tech issues with their QR code payment system that's not intuitive and often gives an error so you'll end up paying with your card anyway. Waiters have been generally friendly.

Beautiful sea view, relaxing child friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff, our server was Val beautiful personality. Food was quick and delicious during load shedding. Highly recommended
Zowee Ntlani
Food is nice. Beautiful view of the ocean and Table Mountain. I never miss the oyster and bubbly special. There's no generator though, so during load shedding you literally have your dinner in the dark... :-(
Anton Meintjes
Always nice to eat at Blowfish! The food was awesome. The ambiance was as good as ever. Unbelievable how many people are being accommodated in such a short time. I will go back there whenever I can.
Lech Rynkevic
Amazing food experience. Unfortunately were after sunset, otherwise must have been amazing view on the terrace. Great food experience from shots, aperitif, starters and mains. Calamari for starters - great. Seafood platter - for 1 person with sauces and chips, rice - fabulous. Really fresh seafood /fish. Recommend.

Great food tremendous service and beautiful sun set.

We had a great time. The stuff was friendly and the establishment is beautiful.

Couldn't have asked for more, best service, the lady with the nose ring, she was brilliant, thank you so much you made our Dinner real special and thank you to Blowfish, stunning Restaurant.

The R99 special for 2 is lovely, the food gorgeous and fresh. The only problem is there is no way that is enough for 2 adults. Thankfully our waiter suggested we rather each order the R99 platter. Stunning food, Blowfish, but rather don't advertise that it is for 2. It's a litte misleading.
Monica Dart
We were a huge group of 13 people and each and everyone of us loved our food ...from sushi to risotto..all delicious! And 5 star service from our waitress! Highly recommend!!!
Maddy Brown
I was there lastnight with my family and friends from the UK and Holland, we thoroughly enjoyed the seafood platter however our waiter wasn't very friendly. Other than that it was a lovely evening. Thank you Blowfish

Was in on Monday eve for the current special for R99. Good service, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. The only reason no 5 stars is that the 4 platters were not of equal portions if the variety. The muscles itself excellent especially the sauce. We all had the platter for each and it was good. The milkshake was excellent. Best value for money. Will definitely return.
Natasha Scott
The sushi is absolutely amazing. Blowfish is my most favourite sushi restaurant. The view is spectacular. Always the last to leave and the staff never moans about that! Keep up the excellent rating!
Ravi Krishnaswamy
Fantastic food and superb service from Sheree. Will definitely be back and can recommend to others.

Seafood platter for 2 R99. To be honest I think most people will order one each as I don’t think it will do for 2 people. Having said that, at R99 it is still a good deal. Definitely will be back
Benita Brown
The food was amazing. Definitely a winner the Monday special for R99.00. The service by the waiter Caryn was amazing. We will definitely be back! Thank you
Hendrik Odendaal
The food was amazingggg!!! Great value for money!! Awesome view with a great fibe! A must visit!
Marie
Famtastic food and service! What a beautiful view! Will be back when we are in the area!
Copiosus
Ambiance was really nice, great sea views however the food was pretty average.
Amit Bhana
Seafood platter for 2, rather average and average service with hardly any attention.<br/>All seafood had the same taste. Prawns were dry as well as fish. Mussels were ok with sauce good. Wont be back at all. Paid at exit due to slow service and no attention.
John Cowing
Horrible, horrible horrible
Sinazo Matika
Enjoyed myself here, the food, view and service was amazing. Most definitely going back

The sunday & wednesday sushi half price deal is worth booking a spot for! Recommend this spot for sushi to everyone I know.
Bryan Smith
We celebrated my friends birthday and had lunch. We were a table if over 20 people and the restaurant was full. The service was amazing and everyone complimented the food. We will definitely return. Well done, we were there on Sunday 39th December.
Uvisha Inarman
Most amazing steak and that fennel apple side was bloody amazing! I can’t wait to recreate this at home and hopefully pay blowfish another visit! Delicious!
Micarla Havenga
Wonderful service from our waiter who was clearly spinning it was so busy hats off to him. Sushi was tasty and great we had some off the belt and had then make us some items from the menu... delicious! I then went for the teriyaki seared tuna and omw was the heavenly, cooked to perfection with scrumptious stir fried vegetables with that slight crunch it was perfect. Will definitely be back for that! Next time I'll be eating less sushi so I can try the decadent looking desserts
Willem
View was great. Order fish and calamari steak. It arrived as Crumb fish and crumbed calamari fingers. All taste the same. Service was good but the food was nothing to write home about. The view sell the restaurant not the food. Will not be back
Shireen Meyer
Average food... had lovely and friendly service, pleasant waitress. Blowfish is a nice venue for a few drinks - sundowners and some sushi...
Nadia Joubert
Overlooking Table Mountain, this restaurant has a spectacular view. Other than the dishes on the menu, they have a wide selection of fresh fish to choose from. They are also famous for their sushi. We were a table of 12 people and the service was very good.
Shani Pretorius
I confess I've only ever gone here for drinks and sushi, so I can't comment on their regular menu. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. I attended one of their sushi making classes which was both informative and fun. The barmen certainly know how to mix a great gin and tonic. Parking is a bit of an issue, but it is a lovely location on the beachfront.

Bad service, badly booked, bad table, bad attitude, rude manager and hostess. Will never go there again. It was my daughter’s birthday. COME ON!!!!<br/><br/>
David Dookoo
Dinner was excellent . chose the Thursday night special which had 10 fresh succulent prawns and calamari and rice combo . The ambience was perfect . Tried a bottle of their Madame rose which was excellent with the seafood . The service was great and our waitress Lorraine deserves special credit . Will definitely be back .

Service 5<br/>Decor 2.5<br/><br/>Look & Feel:<br/>So we got here and were seated outside, which was really lovely. I’m just a little shocked how the inside and outside seating differs coz inside it’s these white tables already set, and outside you get dirty old green tables who’s paint is coming off. We then moved inside but soon came back out as there was no aircon and we were dying of heat. <br/><br/>Service:<br/>First, we got Lorraine who was the most helpful and friendly waiter. She really made the experience here worthy, to be honest. After we drank our wine, suddenly we got a new waiter. She didn’t introduce herself and barely spoke. She was friendly but the situation was uncomfortable because when we wanted to pay, the second waiter got the tip and not Lorraine. The mixup was weird, because while the second waiter was there, Lorraine also came and asked if everything is fine. I don’t know, weird. <br/><br/>Oh and when we got there and walked inside, I noticed that the other people there aren’t friendly. It seemed as if they were just looking at us from above like they think they’re important.🙄<br/><br/>Drinks:<br/>I can’t rate the food as we didn’t order food. We ordered some wine which was delicious! Actually, the first bottle we ordered, they didn’t have stock of, and then we ordered again. The wine was amazing. Very light and tasted like champagne. <br/><br/>I don’t think I’ll be going back here, but for the wine, fresh air, Lorraine’s service and of course, my date, I liked it.
Tracey Benson
Tasteless seafood platter - lacked seasoning. Fresh water fish on platter was bland, zero flavour. Best part of it was the mussels. Such a great venue and beautiful restaurant, but food needs a revamp. Disappointed.
Run.ron22
Restaurant full, kitchen staff cannot cope!! Ordered food and waited for long time then to get raw meat, raw chicken.. how do you serve raw chicken in green thai curry??? The easiest dish on the menu. Spoke to manager about it, and fobbed me off by saying he is too busy and restaurant is too busy to even come see the food. Eventually, i had to bring the food to them from my hotel room, then to be told am a difficult customer because of my complaint. Pathetic manager who cannot even check quality of food coming from the kitchen.. blowfish restaurant needs to employ competent people.
Zimkhitha Sulelo
It was my first time at Blowfish for dinner and it was amazing. The restaurant is huge and it looked like there were different parties all over the place. If you want to have a quite dinner maybe it’s not the best option. Great seafood and at great prices too. <br/>Can’t wait to try their breakfast menu.
Shabaana Osman
The quality of seafood received was really good. The views are an absolute beauty. <br/><br/>Had the seafood platter for 2 as we purchased a spa voucher which included lunch. I almost feel as though we were overlooked throughout our time being there due to the fact that we had a voucher. The platter included mussels and when we requested it to be cooked omitting the wine we were told it was not possible. When we asked for a substitute we were also told it was not possible.... Felt very disappointed that management could not make an exception for us. From the time we got our food up until we paid the bill our waitress had not returned once to check up on us.<br/><br/>Based purely on the service we received I will not return to this establishment
Nicki Piek
Ordered the seafood platter for 2. Awful is an understatement. The food was all the same color with a grey tinge, everything was over cooked and bland. We didn’t eat more than half of it and no one bothered to ask if there was a problem. Will not be returning ever again.

Late lunch 23 dec 2017.<br/>Brilliant ambiance, great waiter, great food.<br/>We were there 3 years ago and the food was a disaster. What a turnaround! <br/>Chowder was best main at the table, vichyssoise and mussel pot as a close second.<br/>
Liza
Yesterday was my first visit to Blowfish. I’d been craving seafood for a while now and decided to take my parents out for lunch. <br/>The setting of the restaurant is perfect, beautiful ocean views with table mountain framed perfectly. The restaurant itself was charming with its white and clean atmosphere. <br/><br/>Unfortunately all of us decided to order the same thing on the menu so I can’t really judge the other food. We had the platter for one. <br/>Let me start by getting the “meh” out of the way. The prawns were a bit overcooked and the calamari lacked a bit of flavor. But the mussels in the creamy sauce was delicious and so was the hake. The fish actually made me wish I had ordered that instead as it tasted fresh and was cooked beautifully. <br/><br/>I really want to try their sushi, as it looked really good and was freshly made. Next time! <br/><br/>Service was fast and no errors were made. <br/><br/>Overall a nice a nice experience, and I will be back to try some more dishes.
Boshoffgary
Disappointing experience! Their “traditional” Tom Yum is nothing other than an oily fish chowder. The main courses were also far too oily! Service was attentive though and beautiful setting.
Kirsten Strauss
The seafood platter was average, not enough flavour on the calamari or the rice. The prawns were ok. Service was nice. Hake and chips were also okau. Sushi was a little disappointing not sure why everybody these days have decided to put GIANT dollops of mayonnaise on their sushi.
Chris Louw
Absolutely the best value seafood platters on their monday evening winter special menu, R99 for a seafood platter for two is incredible value. The mussels in the white sauce is delicious, the platter is presented as a meal for two, but i always order one for myself for a feast of delicious seafood. Their lemon butter sauce is also very good.

Great setting and wonderful ocean views of Cape Town across the bay. Been there several times before and have had consistently good experiences. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Main meal for our party of 9 took quite long to arrive and the restaurant was only about half full, but the food was excellent when it did make an appearance. My grilled kingklip was well prepared and tasty. I chose the hand cut fries as a side order that was also tasty. Ended with the delicious chocolate rum fondant from their desert menu.

Came here for my mom's birthday, was my first time and was definitely not disappointed! <br/>Amazing schezwan calamari, if you enjoy something spicy you have to try this :) <br/>My fiance had the stuffed calamari which was equally amazing! <br/>For mains I had the new style hake and chips, the hake it coated with crushed corn flakes.. It was delicious!<br/>Everyone really enjoyed their meals, my fiance had the pork belly, which he raved about!! and with amazing views will definitely be back.

Wow! Shocked to say the least. Wonder what happened to quality food at Blowfish. Management did not even came over when called. Service from waitress were amazing however the food was terrible.

Blowfish has some amazing specials, so check out their website. Pretty nice sushi and platters but nothing to rave about. It's a place to go to placate seafood cravings for an affordable price. Staff are mostly friendly and polite but I did encounter one lady who wouldn't look me in the eye and a woman on the phone who was rather rude. Overall, this restaurant is alright!
Tayla
Slow service, mediocre food and bad sushi. Keep thinking that it's just a few bad nights but I've never had a good experience here. Heard the same from friends, over all I'm not a fan.
Tumi Ramafoko
I was thoroughly surprised by this place. I live in the area and had driven past many times. Their service is friendly, the fish is fresh and seasoned just right so that it remains the hero of the dish. Their fishmonger counter was such a treat! I recommend sitting by the windows at the back for views of Table Mountain. Their muscles are divine!

07/04/2017<br/><br/>Returned to Blowfish after quite some time. Can remember the times we would go there on a Sunday night enjoying "eat as you much as you like" sushi. <br/>Last night I took my colleagues to Blowfish since they craved for seafood. I ordered some sushi for starters and calamari and prawn skewers. Liked the peri-peri sauce over the calamari. Afterwards I went to the "fish counter" and ordered Bassa fish, king prawns and calamari. Oh.My.Word! It was sooo delicious! <br/>After all these years, the food is still good, ambience awesome and a view to die for!<br/><br/>
Samantha
Really looked forward to this restaurant as the views are amazing. However the food was slightly disappointing. Given the prices I expected a higher quality of food. We also ordered the zebra sushi which is supposed to be popular but unfortunately there was no black rice so they served it with pink rice which I didn't mind. Problem was that there was a strong vinegar taste due to them adding far too much vinegar to the sushi rice.
Nedine Van Zyl
We have always been told that Blowfish is overpriced, so we went for the Monday might seafood platter special to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised by the prices being on par with any other Tableview restaurant. The waiters were friendly and attentive and the food and sushi was amazing and fresh! I couldn't believe what we got for a R99 seafood platter :) We will definitely be back!
Fiona Glenanne
Now these guys know how to make you feel welcome!! My last night in CPT and I'm so glad I spent it with you. Food was worth the money and the view makes you feel right at home. Thank you for your hospitality!! Waiter was Gerald. What a pleasant guy. All the best!
Michael Wright
Been spitting here in the restaurant for over an hour waiting for food. It is not even busy. Shocking management of the pass by the management
Claire Victoria Henderson
Fave spot close to home to have sushi. Amazing deal on half price days - which makes the whole experience that much sweeter - and love the restaurant's overall vibe. Plus, the view of Table Mountain is absolutely breath taking. My partner and I have been going to Blow Fish every anniversary since we moved to Cape Town five years ago. Food and cocktails are amazing. Recommended: sushi fore sure! And the Blow Fish Shandy for the cocktail lovers. Really good value for money. Additionally, we have had a few goodies off the a la carte menu - including salmon, calamari, Smoked Kassler Chops and more - all of which were tasty.

I am so upset that tonight was my first night at blowfish! Probably the best seafood I've had in Cape Town and definitely the best prawns. Good value for money and a beautiful setting. Also, the truffle parmasean mash is a must!
Garth Williamson
What a superb seafood restaurant. One can ordwr a variety of fresh fish anf prawns by a kg price. We recommend the srafoid platters.Fresh with generous portions. The mussel pot is a must. Good wine list. The close up view of table mountain is unforgetable. Sunset over Table bay a life time experience. Highly recommended.
Eksteen Theron
Menu's are a luxury on Christmas Day (not all got a menu), but the food portions were generous and tasty. Beautiful view of Table Mountain from the restaurant.
Temcki_tinx
Wonderful view.... You can sit here and feel like you are escaping to a foreign country.<br/><br/>Small portions of delicious food are well presented by friendly waiters. Although service is a bit slow, you can still sit and enjoy the view.<br/><br/>Be careful not wear slippery shoes or high heels as you might fall on their floor as warned upon entry od this restaurant. You can dress smart but casual and still comfortable.<br/><br/>This place is clean and of high quality.
Sheryll
Blow fish is in such an awesome location.<br/>In my opinion probably one of the best views of Cape Town. You get a wonderful view of table mountain, lions head and the stadium.<br/>Now the food... it's good but the menu of main courses is a little small. The sushi is really nice when you order off the menu but honestly the sushi special doesn't give you the choice of the best dishes. <br/>Still a great summer spot!
The Authentic Girl
I had a meeting in Blouberg and decided to have lunch at Blowfish thereafter. I left disappointed. Ordered the prawn curry which was overpriced, for R140 I expected a delicious meal. Instead all I got some weird looking curry that was drenched in way too cream.<br/><br/>The service wasn't great either, the waitron forgot to bring my rice with the curry. The juice I ordered left such a bad after taste, it was that cheap juice. <br/><br/>I don't mind paying a higher price for the food, but give me quality in return. I will never return to BlowFish restaurant.
Jemal
For my first time at Blowfish i was quite disappointed in the service. It was a very quiet Sunday, we were basically the only table for some time and found that getting any service was very slow. I find it to be a fancy restaurant, but the service does not compliment the class of the restaurant (perhaps better service could be of top priority). The sushi we had was good, but expensive for what you get. Not sure how i feel about going back, but will give it another try sometime, hope something will improve.
Tiara Jorissen
R99 for a platter for 2 on a Monday is a good deal but it did not blow me away. The place was only a third full so not very busy. Food arrived warmish and rice was overcooked. The calamari was a bit rubbery. Prawns; mussels; vegetables and chips were nice. The espresso creme brulee would have been better without the added espresso because it was lovely and creamy except was quite strong in flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and I had a taste of the chicken curry pasta which was really tasty. Overall service was good and friendly .
Lindie White
Blowfish didn't blow us away. Not sure if we can blame everything/anything on the ambience/product (food)/service.<br/><br/>Perhaps the other diners played their part. A pair of yummy mummies having Sparkling Wine and Oysters while laughing too sharply and talking too loudly about arranging their next 'ladies lunch' while handling their infants like costume jewellery. <br/><br/>Or the slightly worse for wear hotel decor (the once white chairs show signs of being moved too often) with a view of Table Bay sliced up by aluminium panels and nearly obscured by the nearby rooftops. Very odd outlook indeed. <br/><br/>Perhaps the final straw was the evident limp nuked coriander and reheated film on top of my Thai Green Prawn Curry. G had Kassler Chops and he enjoyed it along with the uninspiring Apple in Mayonnaise side salad. The portion sizes are big plusses.<br/><br/>I felt slightly sad for the wedding party in the room next door. The weather with its sniping wind seemed to add to the dampened atmosphere.

Went to this place last week Sunday for my brothers 30th bday dine , we called to make a booking they said it is essential but when we arrived at 21:00 restaurant was 30percent occupied ... food was super and tasty you feel the taste what you pay for.. waiters were quite informal and did not know what she was doing I felt like a runner serving me but after I had a chat with the waiter Her name is Kim I found out she is been doing this for past 7 years I think she should keep doing more till she knows what customers wants anyways place was huge and so much Light and bright which I don't like places with bright lights , place itself needs some attention to get looked after, for example if you look at ceiling on the dining area right behind the sushi place looks like an umbrella!it was sooo dirty dirty like dirty lol hope someone cleans it soon overall it was an nice experience .
Leonardo Sforza
Came to this restaurant for a buffet lunch function. The food was amazingly prepared amzinnd tasted delicious. I still have to try off the menu. The staff were all so friendly and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Even the bathrooms looked amazing upstairs. Will definitely be back to try more.
TASTEXPLORER
Service was good but my seafood was raw and quite ordinary, where the prices are anything but. A view is not enough to keep a customer coming back, and unfortunately this was not my first 'below-par' experience here.
Veronica Le Roux
The awesome views and amazing tasting food and presentation thereof is sublime. A great place to relax sipping a glass of wine, maybe indulge in some fresh oysters. Their seafood selection is wonderful. The presentation of their dishes is a feast for the eyes and complements the palate once you delve beyond looking.
Tracy Poulter
This place is close to home and we often come here for dinner and never leave disappointed.<br/><br/>The food is great, the view is breathtaking special when you catch the sunset on a prefect evening.<br/><br/>You dont always have to book but if you want a table with the view I'd suggest you phone ahead of time and make your booking.<br/><br/>The staff are always friendly and helpful, sometimes when I'm not sure to choose on dish I tell them the two I am stuck between and they make the recommendation :) Portion wise you get value for money and the food is always YUM. They have a sushi belt which you can go pick from or you can order off the menu. I have had their Steaks, Tuna Fillet, Risotto and sushi, as I am not one that would normally go to a fish restaurant and order steak or visa versa I can honestly say no matter what type of dish be it fish, steak or pasta, depending on your taste buds, you wont be disappointed.<br/><br/>Look out for their half price sushi night, delicious sushi for a delicious price.<br/>Good Food<br/>Good Wine<br/>Great place
Nicol Miller
What a beautiful setting! A really awesome view of the beach while eating some of the freshest fish. For starters, the table ordered the 20piece sushi platter, which was extremely fresh and the portion sizes were substantial to share amongst 5 people. We also ordered the seafood bisque, served with crusty bread, a 250g hanger steak with fries, and the Blowfish seafood platter, which can be shared, as it comes with a good portion of hake, prawns and a crayfish. The only complaint we had, was that a few of the cocktails seemed watered down. To end off, we ordered sorbet, as they seemed like great palate cleansers. Overall we were extremely satisfied and would gladly return, especially in summer for sushi and the sunset.
Lynn Jooste
The Monday night seafood special (R99) was the drawcard for this restaurant.<br/>We went for an early supper and enjoyed the view, service and general atmosphere.<br/><br/>The portion size is generous. Calamari, prawns and fish were cooked and seasoned well. The mussels came in a delicious sauce but were overcooked, as was the rice. <br/><br/>Blowfish is also on the Entertainer and during winter they have a 2 or 3-course set menu for R149 and R199 respectively.<br/><br/>My partner had no complaints about choosing this option.
Katie Leigh Scott
We enjoyed a fabulous Father's Day lunch! I can highly recommend the Chicken and Prawn Risotto, paired with Boschendal Chardonnay. Sea views, friendly service and a cosy setting make for a great Sunday lunch with family.
Chantelle Lamusse
Had a lovely spontaneous day out with a friend and we ended up here for a lovely warmer winter day of sushi! Love the signature sushi selection and the view is fantastic ;) the prices are a bit pricing but expected due to the superb location. We shared the Grenade, Citrus and Soy Sashimi, the Queen Roll and the Seven Spices Prawn with Inari. I drank a glass of the Pinotage Rose which was very refreshing and worked well with the sushi with a strawberry/cherry undertone. Great service and good quality. Do try it out and after lunch we had a stroll on the beach which is right there... Such a lovely place!!!
Jaco
Dinner at Blowfish, what an experience... The place comes highly recommended, so my expectations were high, and I was impressed. I had the Calamari Skewer for starters and it was really good with a nice kick to it. Mains was Yellowtail for me and Norwegian Salmon for my companion and we were blown away! You pick the fish and the cut you want from the display and they prepare it for you...best fish I have ever had (anywhere). So my verdict: superb food, really good service, stunning setting. Nice wine selection as well.
Samantha Katzen
Went in for a late dinner on a Monday night, seated straight away. Our waiter was very friendly but took a little bit long to take our order.<br/><br/>I got some speciality sushi, not badly priced, the rice was quite vinegary though. My boyfriend got the Thai chicken curry, which wasnt bad, just had a bit of a strange taste, not sure if its one of the spices used.<br/><br/>We will be back again.
Pascale Prinsloo
Stunning location and view of table mountain. I was greated by the host who promptly told me there was no space but he could find one if I was finished by 7:30. Starters of the mussel pot tasted sublime but was served with burnt toast . The mains I had sea bass and calamari with a side of vegetables so salty from the soya sauce I could not eat them . Dessert was ok nothing particularly wow to match the location, culture, or menu. chocolate fondant.
Lexi Pauli
Had the breakfast buffet at Blowfish and it was pretty good.<br/>Lovely fresh fruit juice is brought to your table and then you help yourselves to the rest.<br/>Decent selection of pastries and hot foods available.<br/>Staff where pleasant and service was good. <br/>I would have enjoyed some sliced fresh fruit or nuts on the buffet though.
Andrew Ferrao
Great view from the restaurant of table mountain. Arrived at the restaurant, no one at the door to seat us. Eventually found the manager in the middle of the restaurant. Waited for him to seat someone else just to have a waiter push in in front of us with another customer who had just walked in after us. Asked the waiter what the signature dishes were with a reply that "everything is good". Starters were good until the waiter came and asked us what we want for our main course half way through eating them. Eventually waiter came and told me that i should have the tuna. Told him i had decided on the fillet to which he replied "thats what i told u to have in the first place". Apparently rump and fillet are the same thing. Tables have the managers cell number on a card to contact him for any queries or comments. Sent an sms querying the best meal to have that evening. Still waiting for a reply. Unfortunately for what you pay for your meals here it is way below par. R150 for a steak and R27 extra for a side. Wont go back based on the poor service. Pity as clearly the kitchen is working hard.
Adrian Kaplan
Walked in without a reservation on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was moderately busy but they accommodated us at a lovely table right at the window which offered a spectacular view of table mountain! We were told that sushi was half price until 8pm and that it had to be ordered from the belt and would be full price if ordered from our waitress. Now here's where the fun starts: waitress had no clue when i enquired about a buffet/all you can eat menu or special - she just stared at me blankly as if she had never heard the term all-you-can-eat before! I took that as a no. Well as for the sushi belt...there was NO vegerarian anything, about 2 variations of things floating around a full belt and tons of slices of watermellon. If you wanted salmon roses, just two tiny pieces on a plate for you sir! What a ripp - pathetic variety (actually non existent!!) disinterested sushi chefs who begrudgingly made veg California rolls for my pregnant wife who cannot eat raw fish and just piss poor experience as far as im concerned. Sushi problems aside, i had the ostrich steak asked for medium rare and received medium. R130 plus extra R25 for a side (chips in my case). If you want me to pay R155 for a steak then i should bloddy hope the service is top notch with linen napkins - not the case. My wife had the hake with lemon butter which was the saviour of our dining experience.
Damian Casey
We went to Blowfish last night for my mothers birthday, the setting is a beautiful view of Table Mountain. <br/><br/>However the food is dismal at best, sushi was not fresh even though the restaurant offers an impressive looking sushi bar. For mains we ordered steak which was basted in an over salted basting sauce and a side of "hand cut" chips which seemed like they had been siting in the kitchen a good couple of days over all one of the worst dinner experiences iv had in the table view area should have rather gone to Spur!

It's a nice hidden gem around the blouberg beach at the dolphin beach hotel. Beautiful venue with a lot of space. The tables were spread out and the ambiance relaxed. Their sushi is well priced, nearly as good as many take aways! I ordered a lavazza coffee, it was perfect. Worth a second visit.

Great restaurant. Went there on monday and had the platter for 2 special. Only R100 and i had a feast. Our waiter was also very good. Will definitely go again and recommend it.

I took 3 guests (two from India and 1 from Japan) there yesterday. They loved the view and the mass of kite surfers adding colour to the day. The restaurant was almost empty, and our waiter came across tired after the lunch rush. As a local I think the shellfish platter was sloppy presented, the lobster on the brink of being overcooked. The mussels were very small and the cream sauce split. My tuna was good but cooked unevenly. The one part overcooked and the other part still ice cold in the middle. The chips were not fresh and no salt on the rice. I was dissappointed, but my guests were happy because of the Cape Town magic<br/>

The location with the sunset and table mointain view is fantastic. This is what we've booked. Due to internal "misunderstandings" ( it was a wedding, which occupied half of the restaurant) we had a table without any view.<br/><br/>Outstanding was the service. Our waiter Thierry was always on top of all our requests. Well done.<br/><br/>Fish was excellent and fresh. Sushi as well. Very good wine list. <br/><br/>Reservation via email didn't work out. Feedback on the phone was "didn't check the server for few days". Can this be?? Need to book via phone.

Fantastic spot for lunch or dinner. During Christmas we had Christmas lunch with the family. The service was amazing. the fish selection and the fish "guy" advised us well on the selection and which options would work for what. Great view of the ocean. Just a little cramped as they squashed in extra chairs to make space for everyone. And a tab pricey. But well worth it.

Patrick our waiter was very attentive, keeping track of everyone's wine, and kept us happy. They have various specials on the go at the moment, go look at the website to see what's on. I suggest you book, it's pretty busy. The seafood platter for two is on special at R99. To be honest its not very large, big meal for one, if you want to share might need a starter. They have a good wine list, but also do a R40 corkage. The food was good, and tasty. The atmosphere very festive and sophisticated. Great night out.

I had heard such great things about this place and decided to go there. I was so shocked at the terrible service and the rudest waitress I have ever met! Not only was she rolling her eyes at us but I only saw her when we ordered our food and when we needed to pay the bill. The food was very average. It was quite hot today and the lack of air conditioning made sitting near the Windows unbearable. The location is great but everything else was disappointing.

One of the most stunning restaurants I have been to in my life so far. Service that makes you feel at home, views to die for and to top it off, the freshest, most delicious food you could imagine!!! Need I say more!!!

What the hell were these owners thinking hiring this tardy staff!!! The one waiter looks like he is positively drunk!!! The service suck!!!! Waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged and said they will be with us in 5 minutes... NOT!!!<br/>The food... burnt fries too boot! Sushi overpriced and horrible! Never again!!! What a rip off😠😠😠

A warm greeting at the door, a perfect table with a stunning view, a fantastic waiter (Kyle), scrumptious starters (calamari); juicy and generous tuna steaks, and a cheerful atmosphere. Only criticism would be the salad that was dressed with vinaigrette before it was brought to the table. That's a rookie error - they should know that a lot more people opt for balsamic and olive oil these days. But a definite option for a 2nd visit.

Wow! Great venue, friendly service, impressive menu. I had the Gnocchi... best I've ever had... And my boyfriend had the hake and chips which he thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be back for sushi. The Diablo cocktail is also something special and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Adam Cannell

As far as high quality seafood restaurants go, Blowfish is undoubtedly the top competitor in Blouberg, and even beyond. The variety of freshly caught fish on offer is fairly extensive, and each seafood dish is prepared according to the specifications of the diner. However, the à la carte options are also fabulous, and the kitchen is constantly experimenting with new dishes and evolving the menu, so there are always new and exciting things to try. Of course it also goes without saying that their sushi is top-notch. To top it all off, the view from their front section is absolutely spectacular, making for the ideal sunset venue (which is also available for events or special occasions). If you want the benefits of silver service without over-the-top pretentiousness, splash out at Blowfish Restaurant.

I arrived just as the sunet behind Table Mountain, to the Dolphin Hotel in Table Bay. I was greeted with a cold glass of champagne and told to get ready to eat 24 courses. I politely laughed, they were joking, they had to be joking, right? No one was joking as course after course came out.  Luckily I was armed with my elasticated waist skirt so I had enough room to expand. Honestly, I was full for a week afterwards (I am full right now just thinking about it) but still to this day I dream about their cheesecake and zebra sushi.

Fresh fish, unparalled views of Cape Town, laid back atmosphere and friendly staff make Blowfish a must visit for Sunday lunch. Kingklip was beautifully seasoned and cooked in lovelly butter sauce but was ever so slightly overcooked. Mountain Top Nouveau was simply off the charts! All in all a perfect sunday lunch spot and a stone's throw from Cape Town. Highly recommended!

I went for dinner at Blowfish. The restaurant setup is gorgeous, we were seated in the outside section. Delicious seafood, great wine, awesome company plus great service.<br/><br/>#ZomatoJackAurelias

Sunday evening half price sushi was great, fresh and a lovely environment on the ocean! Would definitely go back and recommend a visit!

This restaurant has got to have one of the greatest views in the world! It's a bit far if you're residing in the city bowl area but it's worth the drive. <br/><br/>We went for a crayfish special and although still expensive, its not everyday that you can eat crayfish and gaze at table mountain when you're a student. The food was tasty and their desserts were unusual but good. Service was attentive too. <br/><br/>Honestly I would come back just for the view but I hear they have a great value for money sushi special which I'm keen to try out.

I've always enjoyed going to Blowfish as they always provide amazing service and they cater to your needs. The food is worth every cent spent and the view it provides is breathtaking.

The views from this restaurant are breath taking! And the decor of the restaurant is very calming. As for the food, best sea food I have had in SA. I like the idea that you can go up and choose what fish you would like to eat so you have a chance to try everything

Went for a dinner on a Thursday night. The service was poor, despite the fact that there were only about 25 people in the restaurant. After being seated we waited 15 minutes for someone to take a drinks order, eventually I got up and ordered a bottle of wine from the bar. Food was remarkably ordinary. Even the sushi was bland and tasteless. All in, a poor experience. <br/>

Stunning views of table mountain, delicious food, and a very friendly waiter made for a fantastic evening out with friends. This is a lovely place to go for lunch or dinner. But, if you go for dinner, make sure to go before it gets dark so you can enjoy the stunning views. :). I had the grilled salmon and it was delicious. :)<br/>

Good fish and seafood selection and great quality sushi. Never been disappointed but it is not a top quality fine dining place. Don't get me wrong the food is well made and tasty but it's no haute cuisine.
Beverley Du Plessis
Great restaurant with awesome service. The food was great and the they know a lot about their wine and whiskey. We had a platter and everything was fresh and tasty.
.
Absolutely spectacular. A MUST to visit for any seafood lover. Everything is right; food, drink, view, service. Sushi is the best and top quality. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself!

Blowfish is known for their great sushi and amazing beach views. They also have sushi-making classes! Cute little cigar room and toilets are super clean and mod.

Warm friendly greeting when you arrive. Place was relatively warm for a cool winter evening. We both decided to order steak and chips. Both cooked to our liking. Our waiter was pleasant and service was efficient and non intrusive. We decided on the brûlée and chocolate fondant for dessert. Which was nice. All in all a delightful dinner. Will go back.

It's situated at a beautiful beachfront although parking could be scarce. The interior decor and atmosphere of the restaurant are lovely. Mobile gas heaters are placed in a few spots to warm up the surrounding. We ordered sushi platter to share as a starter and it was rather disappointing as the rice was dry and hard. The cocktail menu was of a good variety and perhaps it was just my bad luck that the three we ordered weren't amazing. I tried the mushroom soup and it tastes more like a funny version of a mushroom sauce. My fish cakes were not a stunner either because it was dry and coarse inside. The seafood platter were of a good value although it was rather oily. My friends and I all feel that it was a lovely evening spent although the food was disappointingly average with a big room for improvement.

I loved my experience at Blowfish!<br/>The view was amazing. It was a warm summers early evening.. Watching the sun set and kite surfers surfing.<br/>The sushi was amazing, very fresh, and the wine selection was perfect! The waiter wasn't too clued up on wine pairing, so we went with our gut, and made a fine choice , I'd say. If I stayed closer and it wasn't as pricey, I'd be back!
Lori Claire Cape
Nice location. The waiters aren't very friendly. My grandpa had to send his food back twice before they got it right. Won't be going there again.

When I lived in Blouberg too many years ago, I often drove past wondering what Blowfish was like. Now years later visiting from Jozi, finally had the chance to experience it. <br/>Lovely view of the mountain, fresh fresh sushi - btw, the spicy salmon roll is the best ever and tender juicy fillet for mains. It may look like it specialises in seafood, but it's clearly adept and surf and turf. <br/>Ingeniously Blowfish has a load shedding menu tucked into the back of their regular menu sleeve. And it's hardly limited! While the selection is pared down when the lights go out, there's good food on it for everyone. <br/>Best of all, was a good friend (and manager at Blowfish) to guide me. The advice on wine and mains was great, but the caramel cheesecake a la mode was sheer genius. <br/>Our server Mustafa was on point and the food and wine was from the very top drawer. It's the stuff old friends and good times are made for.<br/>I'm coming back. Not just to catch up, but to fill up. A sense a sushi binge in my future.

A fabulous buffet breakfast is available at Blowfish. It is real value for money and a wonderful opportunity for hosting a party.Blowfish is beautifully located overlooking Blouberg and Table Mountain. It offers fine dining for  breakfast lunch and dinner.Blowfish is known for its excellent fresh sushi and fish. For those who aren't fish lovers Blowfish offers outstanding steaks. It caters for all tastes and is certainly a place that I can recommend for a special occasion.Although the menu is pricey the quality is an appropriate match. One can actually choose ones cut as well as the weight of the fish which is useful to many who are following various health restrictions.

I went to Blowfish for a family dinner and chose this restaurant on recommendation from a friend. I wasn't blown away as I had expected to be as the food was pretty average for the price you are paying. The setting and the view on the other hand are priceless. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance so I will be back to try this spot again and I hope the next experience will be better than the first.
