Review Salushi - Cape Town Central

Zara Langford
If you are looking for great quality and value sushi, you found your new favourite spot. Look out for the value menu. Limited but safe parking (paid). Spotless seating with outside area. Friendly and professional staff. Only complaint is that (twice) same Cocktails tasted ‘watered down’ when went onto happy hour.

Great view of the mountain, delicious fresh sushi and noodles and a great atmosphere!!! Definitely a place to visit while in Cape Town

Will definitely go again. Good hearty food. Had prawn curry, would have preferred crustacean out of the shell as it became a bit messy while eating. Couldn't flaw the balance of flavours and the subtle coconut milk to cut the spice. A very drinkable Stellenbrau is the only craft beer available. Sushi is fresh and definetly worth trying.

The vibe is quite chilled and comfortable, it was quite busy on a Monday evening. The sushi was amazing and scores full points however the service was slow and we waited a while for our food so go with good company.
Veronica Rowswell
Delicious sushi. Good prices if you go there during the specials.

Due to a popular ad a few weeks ago, I steer away from pink drinks 😂 but their pink gin is the business👌
Simon Midgley
Really good 🍣 sushi. Good value menu before 5pm
Carl Kremers (Carlos)
Delicious, well presented and varied sushi that is great for sharing.
Jon Pienaar
Dropped in for a quick lunch. Even though the place was quite busy, we got fast, friendly service. Took the set menu item of starter+main - lovely crispy (cold) spring rolls in a delicious peanut sauce; main of noodles done Thai style - also delicious. Very reasonable prices, and I'll be back to try the sushi - it looked good. Paid parking off the street - convenient & safe. No hassle, no delay, just fast, fresh, tasty food.

This is my all-time favourite sushi restaurant. The atmosphere in the restaurant is ambient and relaxing. They have the best sushi in the southern suburbs! I especially love all the interesting sushi combinations they come up with. Go for it, you won’t regret it one bit!
Chris Laidler
One of my favorite sushi places in CT, the day time specials are good, they do a good lunchtime sitting. The sushi is good, reasonably sized at a reasonable price. The service is usually good, but more than once I have watched a manager be very harsh to his staff, making me a bit uncomfortable.

This place was pretty damn good if I do say so. All the sushi rolls etc were really good, some great recommendations from the staff. They had some pretty decent cocktails as well. They also have bains whiskey which I really enjoyed. It was the first time I tried it and I ended up buying a bottle at the airport.

Salushi is always packed and has a great atmosphere. One should book as sometimes you will have to wait for a table - specifically in the evenings. The sushi is delicious and well priced and the staff are friendly and good at their job!
Cyprien Pearson-Du Toit
One of my favorite sushi spots. I always pop in when I'm in Cape Town. Their cocktails are great and you can't go wrong with the value menu (lunches every day and select evenings). They could use a wider beer selection, however.
Elisa Hugnin
My favorite restaurant for sushi. I absolutely love Salushi. They always have an amazing service, if it's busy the food will take quite long (under an hour) but its always so fresh and delicious, it's definitely worth the wait. On a normal day it will take around 15 minutes. Would recommend the rock'n'rolla and bon'sbon'sgift.
Damian
Service was alright. Staff was not as friendly as I would have hoped but the food was great. The Norwegian salmon was amazing! Very moist and succulent. Decent variety of cocktails too. Located in a nice little nook which provides a nice private setting.

Honestly worst sushi and noodle experience of my life.

Person I was with was also sick as she had most of the sushi.

Asked for recommendation for sushi and waiter recommended the seared tuna with lots of “lovely” citrus sauce all over .....basically the opposite of sushi..!

Horrible experience and total waste of money!
Aletha Jeftha
I’ve heard so many good things about this place. Stopped by for dinner on a relatively quiet Sunday evening. Sushi was brought out fast, which is a plus. But it was mediocre at best.

Would recommend the takky tempura and rock n rolla.
Foodies.and.Coe
Good Sushi, excellent service. The food is fresh and made on the spot. There are an extensive amount of sushi options which is nice when feeling adventurous.
Precious Donhodzo Chikura
The sushi here is honestly amazing! If you want a special treat, the deep fried sushi is a winner. The salads are a bit disappointing but otherwise I’d definitely recommend this place for sushi

I always loved going here for sushi with my friends. The sushi can get a bit on the expensive side, especially if you someone like me who has to order well over 20 pieces to get decently full. They do have a 'value' menu, which offers a slightly discounted rates on some popular dishes, but even then, I often found myself paying close to or over R200. The quality of the sushi is very good, at least at the times I tried it, so I guess it's worth it. If you can eat a lot, they have an all-you-can-eat option on certain nights for R175, (you can't get any sashimi, unfortunately).

I did try out some of their non-sushi dishes a few times, such as the calamari starter and main, and since I am a calamari lover (tubes specifically) I really enjoyed it each time.
Joanna Michowicz
The place has a elegant feel as you walk in, friendly service and great cocktails. Our reserved seat was by the bar and due to the noise of ice being crushed by a blender we had to pause conversations, so I do advise sitting further away.

The sushi platter (Zak's platter) was great and at a good price so double win there.

The noodles (chicken, roasted chilli and cashews) weren't to my liking at all - it had a strange taste which I couldn't pin down, the same ingrediant was in the pad thai. The prawn curry was good - sauce was a bit chunky. Overall we had a pleasant experience and we will come back for the sushi.
Busisiwe Mavundla
This place really surprises me every time. The sushi is so well priced and really good quality. Half price cocktails are also so great during the day. 😭
Unopa Mazwigwila
Well, this is a great place to go for sushi plus lift meals...I definitely had the noodles and of course sushi (it is a sushi place after all) and I had a great time. The atmosphere and service is beautiful and I can definitely say it’s top notch. The ambiance is great for the surrounding and wallpaper contributes to it. Salushi caters for everyone from expensive taste to not so expensive...but I believe the whole thing is of expensive taste not the price. Try it out and you’ll discover a little piece of heaven.
Karla De Villiers
Excellent food. I had the coconut crusted seared tuna and my boyfriend had one of the noodle dishes. The waiter was very friendly as well. I would definitely go back!
Tamlyn Potgieter
We expected slightly more from Salushi. Our waiter was very efficient and helpful. Probably won’t be returning any time soon. The sushi was alright, nothing spectacular. If you understand the fundamentals behind a tom yum soup I would suggest that you don’t order this here.
Look forward to some improvements.
Sarah Herrington
Salushi is classy, and both their food and service are of a high standard. Don’t underestimate their portion sizes either - I was completely stuffed after my platter!

I tried a variety of different sushi dishes - stand-outs were the bon bon gifts and the rock ‘n rolla. Their sashimi was also very fresh, and virtually melted in your mouth. I felt the deep-fried sushi was a bit disappointing, as the batter was very heavy.

We enjoyed the pina colada and watermelon twist cocktails (both of which had quite a kick), and the chocolate mousse dessert was smooth and very rich, a decadent end to the meal.

Don’t order their poké bowls - I tried one as a takeaway, and their portion size is pathetic.
Emma Divaris
Good food and value for money if you order off the value menu. For starters I would recommend their jalapeño poppers and spring rolls, and grab some sushi or a seared tuna salad for mains. Service is also impressive and the restaurant is well-managed.
Michele Marrai
The sushi is top class, service of the best level and the atmosphere doesn’t get much better. Awesome dinner at the local. Thanks guys!

Recommendations:
Bon bon gifts
Rock n Rolla
Crispy calamari (starter)
Nadine Jeanne' Van Rooyen
The place looks really good but unfortunately only the sushi matched up to its looks. The service didn't even meet the minimum requirements. Our waiter didn't once check on us and when we were trying to order desert he nods and walks off. There desert wasn't any better. My friend ordered the "Lindt" Chocolate and almond spring rolls and I ordered the "Lindt" Dark chocolate pot de créme. They brought the wrong order for my friend and their pot de créme tasted like plain mousse that I could have bought at a store. I couldn't taste any dark chocolate and it was ridiculously sweet. To top it off they had these disgusting dry biscuit things on top that clearly had been left in the back for far too long. Definitely wasn't worth the trip... I've had much better sushi elsewhere.
Anisha Pillay
Salushi is one of the few places I go to often for good sushi and other Thai food. The sushi specials are also a great incentive. The service is usually quite good and I enjoy the set up inside but time seems to be taking it's toll on the decor since last I've seen.
Nati Celliers
This place is good and the sushi is hearty, creative and worth what you get. Also the restaurant is nicely decorated. My only criticism is that the waiters are a bit absent. You have to call for stuff and try catch their attention constantly. Bonus about this place is they do have a discount menu which features practically all the stuff of their regular priced menu.
Gabriella Maxine Abrahams
Great service and really good food. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his sushi, it was fresh and delicious. I had the Thai beef salad, a must for chili lovers.
Rish
Friendly and pleasant service. I had my favourite Bon-Bons sushi but it wasn't as satisfying as previous times. It lacked the freshness and the wasabi strength was weak. The chicken from the chicken strips wok seared dish was overcooked but at least it bursted with flavours.
Mish-al Ebrahim
A great experience. Lovely ambiance. Friendly staff and the sushi is above average. If you take into account their value menu, it’s really affordable for good quality sushi.
Naseema
This has to be the 50th time I've been to Salushi and I must say they never disappoint. You can always expect friendly staff and amazing sushi! Here's to you Salushi for the years of great service and for making my student years a pocket friendly one!
Luca Kennedy
An easy excellent score for this amazing sushi stop. I've been a few times and it's easily a reliable place to go to if you're looking for a good hit of sushi. The portion sizes are good and the specials aren't bad either making this a student friendly place if you're looking to treat yourself every once in a while. The staff is very friendly and the mood is well lit and comfortable to share great company at.
Gabriele James
I’m currently in this restaurant and it is being run like a three ring circus. The waiters took ten minutes to take our order after I had to literally lead one by his arm to our table because he was busy running around like a headless chicken. The food still hasn’t arrived 40 minutes after placing our order. Other customers also seem to disgruntled. The waiter came and proffered some weak excuse about why the food is being delayed. The manager looks like he’s in over his head. If you want to have mediocre service come to salushi!
Ryan Goodman
Modern decor, excellent sushi and efficient service. Calamari Tubes with Mozarrella and pesto starter was a winner. Bon Bons, Sliders, and a protion of Rock n Rolla completed a delicious meal.

Higjhly Recommended.
Supervundu
Decent sushi, but don't have the amazing specials of years gone by. If you're over 30 years old you might want to consider somewhere else, but if you're an old boy/girl from a local private school it might be worth it for an impromptu reunion.

Food is a 4, the natter/texting of lighties is a bit off putter for an ou ballie like me.
Ameerah Abdol
Without a doubt one of my favorite spots to fill up on my sushi craving.

Their sushi is always fresh and perfect. Their fried sushi is unlike any other and that's why I keep going back!
They have some variety to their menu which is cool as my husband doesn't do sushi, and their prices are quiet good for the quality of food they have to offer.

I'd definitely recommend Salushi next time you craving some sushi.
Janomi
Went for lunch at the well known name Salushi. I had mixed feelings about the sushi. Bon bons were good. Rocka rolla had weird crunchy bits on(not nice) deep fried sushi is also not my thing. Maybe i am just an "old fashioned" sushi kinda girl.
D
Lovely little spot for sushi and noodles. Love the relaxed vibe here and it's always such a welcoming place. The tuna medallions are my fave here!
Bame Modungwa
Salushi is one of my favourite places to eat in Claremont and one of my favourites for sushi. The value menu is really the crowd drawer as it offers a range of sushi choices at very affordable rates. My last visit however was a little disappointing. The bons bons gift were basically all rice, the amount of salmon on there was barely noticeable and they kept falling apart. The salmon crunch (deep fried) was good as usual. Other downer was that my sister found a small cockroach in her cocktail. Whilst they quickly replaced the drink for her I felt she should have been given the drink for free. Otherwise I've had great experiences here and will always come back when I'm in the area.
Mimi
Sushi was average, nothing special. Waiters were unfriendly and just stood around, didn't even ask how the food was or if we need anything else. The only positive is the decor and ambience, but this is definitely not enough to make me go back.
Emma
My absolute favorite place for sushi!! Everything that I've had on their menu is amazing. For starters we usually get edamame beans which come in a big portion or the prawn and cheese spring rolls which are delicious too! I have also had the tempura prawns and the prawn and cheese chili poppers which are again both great. For sushi, the Bon Bons gift is a signature and always a winner for me. I also love the rock n rolla, Takky tempura and the prawn passion roll (deep fried) The salmon is fresh and always tastes delicious. The prices are good but the only complaint that I can think of is that the sushi pieces could be a little bit bigger for the price you are paying. I am a regular and will be back again soon
Kelvin Vincent
Very nice and upmarket setting the restaurant maintains a high level of service and the food is always first class we have never had a bad experience there in the years we have been going there, when ever we did have a small issue it was resolved promptly and very professionally we love Salushi and will continue to support them!
Lauren Niekerk
I came here a while back with friends for the half price sushi special during the week. The place was predictably busy but we were promptly seated despite this. Our waiter was friendly, charming and attentive throughout the evening. The sushi was pretty decent as well.
Rayne Alexander
Best service, best sushi. I could not rave more about Salushi!!! We regularly celebrate family events and birthdays at Salushi. You can take your own alcohol too ;) I would rate Salushi a 1000/5

They also have a great online atmosphere and allow you to book tables via Twitter whereas their restaurant next door to them does not and this really makes a difference in my book.
Irishman
Sushi is fine and enjoyable - it's a very student restaurant I find where a lot of students hang out for lunch. Priced reasonably. Main meals are okay and location not bad either.
Aasief
The sushi, decor and waitors were excellent. I decided to try this place based on the menu supplied by Zomato and Salushis online menu. However I discovered that both these menus are very outdated since the sushi prices have markedly increased and the sushi specials do not apply on Sunday,Monday and Tuesdays evenings like these menus indicated. The specials only apply from Monday to Sunday between 12pm and 5pm. I was surprised when I received my bill and all my sushi was charged at full price! The online and zomato menus need to be updated and Salushi needs to advertise their Alacarte menu times better.

Salushi is an amazing restaurant. I would recommend this place to everyone. The staff are kind, respectful and very attentive. The food is absolutely amazing. There is a great decor and over all a great, friendly atmosphere. Raine Stumges

Decor is tasteful and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The staff are extremely attentive and service is quick. The food is incredibly well priced and delicious!!
I especially appreciated the riceless sushi options on the menu, as I don't eat rice. It's so difficult to find riceless sushi in Cape Town!! And it was made perfectly!! Will definitely be returning to Salushi very soon!

I go here way too often for my own good. Salushi is great at keeping the quality of their sushi and starters consistently high - out of the many, many trips I have had there I don't think I've wanted to complain even once. The quality of the service varies and this is the one thing that always threatens our relationship. Its either the waiter will be super attentive and energetic or they'll have you feeling as if Salushi doesn't appreciate you as a customer. I dislike the fact that solo diners are told to sit at the bar as all customers should be treated the same. The cocktails are average but they have a wide selection of wines and have recently changed their wine menu to include recommendations of what the wine goes best with.
Tharaah
I've been here many times, their food is amazing but their service is probably the worst service I've ever experienced. The waiters/waitresses are lazy and sassy, and they never make you feel welcomed and they do not let you know if your food will be coming late. They also purposely ignore you when you try to get their attention because you want to order.
This place has so much potential because their sushi is amazing, but it's such a pity because it's gotten to that point where I would rather go to a place that sells bad sushi but has great service.
You need to hire better waiters / waitresses.
Robin Edwards
Great food, great cocktails, super comfy!!!!!👍 i will definitely recommend this place for their sushi and cocktails!!!..😏A big thumbs up..
Shnapple
Very tasteful sushi but the service was not up to par for such a well known establishment. When our female companions ordered margaritas, they were served to them in tumblers. However when a group who came after us were served and also ordered margaritas, they were served in proper cocktail glasses. Not sure what the reason was but definitely dampened the experience.
Kelli Hendricks
Really good sushi, service is a bit slow considering there were about four tables. Was a bit disappointed in the fact that my friend and i had our margaritas served to us in a tumbler but yet the table next to us also had margaritas but served in proper glasses, even though they arrived after we did. It was definately off putting considering that the same thing was ordered yet the same service was not provided.
Saabirah Hare
Really good sushi, however I feel that their sushi is quite small for the price and the waiting time was very long. Their sushi is good though, nice and fresh!🍣 . I personally prefer other sushi places but their sushi here is not bad. I would probably not go here again because of the size of the sushi. Also, they have a value menu from monday to sunday which is cool. Also, their lindt mousse is really good!
Joel Paarwater
Salushi is an awesome restaurant known for their sushi. A regular lunch spot of mine. Their sushi specials are glorious and not to mention their exquisite drink menu. Reasonably priced with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Alexandra Krajewski
We went here on a rainy day, and the atmosphere was still lovely as ever.
Friendly service, attentive manager, and great sushi!
I'm not sure that I would come back independently of the value menu (just flip all the way to the back to see the special prices), but it's a great Friday treat after a tough day on campus.
Always on my mind!
Eben Verster
Fresh sushi served in a laid-back atmosphere, filled with students and young working friends. The service was slightly slow, but the quality of the food made up for it. Donating R1 to charity for every glass of water ordered is also quite innovative.
Jared Shapiro
The sushi is great but the deep fried sushi batter needs work. It's not light and fluffy like deep fried sushi should be in my opinion. The service isn't the quickest but the staff are friendly. Overall a good experience and would definitely visit again.
Capetown_restaurants
Shout out to the @salushiza Value Menu for getting me ready for the upcoming week by providing a Sunday feast that was both delicious and reasonable. Such great quality sushi. This amazing deal is available Mondays to Sundays, from 12pm to 5pm.
Akhona Khumalo
Wow just wow! Either I've been eating bad sushi my entire life or I've just never had sushi from Salushi (lol that rhymes) anyway I'm thoroughly impressed the tempura crunch literally melted in my mouth I also had the watermelon twist cocktail which tasted like a proper cocktail and not like those washed down juices other restaurants usually serve I'll definitely be returning soon!!😍

Salushi !!! Cape Town

At Salushi, we had ordered two different types of Sushi, a crap sushi and the other type of was a prawn sushi.

The deep fried prawn Sushi was amazing. I really suggest a try out with this sushi.

We had also ordered a dessert which was chocolate spring rolls with ice-cream which was really yummy and a new try out for me too.

Lui
I fell in love with sushi at this very place😍the Takky Tempura is numba 1.. there is just something about deep fried prawn🤤😍🤤😍it goes ALL THE WAY in
Jenna Rodd
Their "a la carte" (value menu) which is available at certain times is great value for money. I love how their sushi is served on wooden boards. The "bon bons gift" is a must-try as it is delicious.
Sara
Salushi is a firm favorite of mine in Claremont. The sushi is always fresh and the service is good because the food arrives in good time. The prawn passion rolls are great as well as all the takky tempura rolls. The value menu is good value for money as well.
JotterJo
We so love the many restaurants in our hood and this is another lovely one. Located in the heart of Claremont next to Hudson's.

Serving some of the tastiest sushi around and quite a few other yummy dishes too such as noodles, salads, grills, seafood and desserts. This afternoon we had the jalapeno poppers which contained prawn and cheese - a different take on the regular popper and highly successful! We also had a chicken Caesar salad which was flavourful and a good portion.

Hubby had a sushi platter which he enjoyed.
We sipped our cocktails on the covered veranda and watched the sun set behind the mountain. Bliss!

BigJoe

Honestly the best sushi in town but a very bad last experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth, the service was terrible, the waiter who messed up our order wasn't apologetic at all considering I had called an hour prior to arriving to place our order. The sushi was good and I'm always pleased with the prawn and coriander spring roll but for the price you pay I really expected more.
Ceiran Megan Vd Westhuizen
It's quite funny because I'd forgotten I'd reviewed this restaurant before: We just had the most SHOCKING lunch and there is nothing more infuriating than spending your hard earned money on terrible food!! My mom and I had sushi and it was so bad: the rice was dry, lacking flavour and slightly crunchy/undercooked, the fish was underwhelming and the crunchy sushi was just unenjoyable. I don't know how you can be a SUSHI restaurant and make such terrible sushi. My gran ordered spring rolls (which she said she enjoyed) and the calamari starter, which was absolutely atrocious... I don't even know how that could be called calamari: it tasted days old and like it had been refried several times and was rubbery and chewy...CANNOT believe it.
Won't be returning here.
The service was friendly.
Sanelisiwe Sani Sibanyoni
First and most importantly, great great prices wowow their cocktails aaaaaand their sushi!! I had the best margarita there today & im so so impressed wow! Their sushi is v v good no jokes it's great. I really loved the place despite the fact that I've been postponing my trip there because I'm not trustworthy of a lot of sushi places but i really loved it tbh😭 actually thinking of going back there tonight but I'll see.
Lisa Van Der Poel
Never disappointed! This sushi joint had my heart the moment it opened in Claremont a few years ago. Always fresh, always tasty. Service is impeccable. Had a little run in with a hair in our sushi today though but Eugene the manager made sure it was sorted out ASAP! Crunch rolls are to die for as well as the Watermelon Twist cocktail.
Leila Rossouw
I have to start off with how amazing the spring rolls are OMG so yummy! I think it's actually my fav item on the menu. The sushi was nice too, can't really find fault. Service could be quicker but anyway, maybe next time.
Tanweer
Lovely place to hangout. The value menu offers good sushi at affordable prices. Great ambience. The Lindt chocolate and almond spring rolls are a must have! The half price starters and cocktails on a Sunday afternoon are also very worth it!
Cay Jay
Pretty good sushi, that's all I order. The service is pretty good as well and I really enjoy the specials. However I think the menu is getting a bit boring maybe there should be more specials introduced
Neza Bee
I love Sushi and I have heard great things about this place so when a friend of mine decided to treat me to dinner, I was rather excited to come try out Salushi. It honestly lived up to my expectation. It was mid week so I really wasn't expecting much of an ambiance, but some how there was one. We sat outside, we had great chats and the whole evening was great. The service was terrific, the cocktails were perfect and the Sushi!! Listen!! The sushi was soooo good. Fresh and everything your taste buds could want it to be. I will definitely keep coming back here.
Trevor Pols
The wife took me here for a date night. I was excited about the visit as I had heard lots of good things about the restaurant.

We both found the decor and ambiance to be very warm and comfortable.

Service was good, our starters were taken and not too long after the bottle of wine arrived with the poppers following. The poppers were good with a crispy coating, but they needed more dipping sauce. They score a decent 7/10.

We ordered a variety of sushi to share as our mains (40 pieces). The sushi was pretty good, I did however feel that it needed more fish in the sushi. I.e. The ratio of rice to other ingredients was way off. Their sushi scored an above average 6/10.

I really did enjoy experiencing the sake both cold and warm, a definite must try.

I might consider going back to see if the ratios were just off on that particular day.

I am not at all a fan of sushi, but I have many friends who are. Usually I have to turn down invites when people are going out for sushi, but Salushi has some great non sushi alternative on the menu, making me happy to come along for 'sushi dinners'. I have had both their cashew and chili chicken noodles and their spicy thai butternut soup. Both were great and left me as happy as the sushi eaters were. I have also had their lindt filled spring rolls for dessert; decadent but delicious! Good idea to share a portion!
Service is generally good here, and I like the fact that they charge (a very small amount) for tap water, that is then donated to a worthy cause.
Megan Parker
Salushi is one of my favourite luxury sushi spots, the decor is inviting and elegant. The food is always fresh and divine. The service was efficient and the waitrons are always polite and helpful. The Rock n Rolla sushi is delicious and different to the usual rainbow rolls. Always a great treat.
Paul Spagnoletti
Pretty good experience, my food was good, enjoyed it. Pricing is fair BD service is more than acceptable. For a quick stop it did more than meet my expectation.
Karl-Luke Steinhagen
A restaurant that always provides the same quality food. Friendly staff and management, one of my favorite restaurants! Very pleasant outdoor area during summer for one to relax outside with all your chommies if one so pleased
Mikaela
I've eaten sushi at Salushi quite a few times, mostly sticking to the Zac platter (which has the best of all worlds). The sushi is fresh and okay, but not great. Try the bon bons - they're cute and something different from the usual California roll or fashion sandwich. Salushi's salmon crunch roll was super disappointing though. It was over-fried and dry.

The service can be a bit slow, but it's usually quiet and easy to find a table.
Nabeelah Shaboodien
Salushi is hands-down my favourite and most frequented restaurant. I make an effort to go there at least once a month for my sushi and noodles fix. The sushi is always freshly prepared, and there are so many different and interesting options to choose from that I never get bored!
Their value menu is worthwhile as the sushi is discounted. My favourites are the salmon crunch/prawn passion rolls, prawn and peppadew fashion sandwiches, salushi heat, Grand California and the rock n rolla rolls.
I also enjoy their grilled calamari in lemon butter sauce with Asian fries, as well as the Thai coconut prawn curry with savoury rice, and prawn and coriander spring rolls.
My favourite desserts are the Lindt chocolate and almond spring rolls, as well as the Lindt chocolate mousse.
Parking is limited but you can always park in the Cavendish Square parking and walk over to Salushi.
The waitrons are always very friendly and helpful, and eager to make the experience pleasant.
I will recommend this place to anyone who enjoys sushi and Asian cuisine.
Ashna Dayal
I've eaten at Salushi many times. And I've enjoyed it every single time. The sushi is one of my favourite. Especially the prawn passion roll and Prine's prawn kisses. Both are deep fried sushi. I've also enjoyed the crab stick salad. They have really great specials as well. The service is usually good and there's a great atmosphere.
Nicol Miller
I've tried Salushi a few times prior to this, but last night we decided to have their salads, in prep for the half marathon gunrun today. The restaurant seemed to be abit quiet and subdued for a Saturday night, in comparison to the surrounding restaurants in the area. Dario ordered the Thai beef salad (seared beef with greens and a chilli lime dressing, and I had the sushi salad, which had tuna and salmon sashimi, crab and fresh prawns. Dario thoroughly enjoyed his, saying it was a good portion size, tasty and value for money. Mine was a sufficient portion, but I would've really enjoyed wasabi mayo or a dressing, besides the standard soy sauce, as it tends to be abit bland.

✔good portions
✔ value for money
✔good menu variation

✖subdued atmosphere
✖bland sushi salad
Janita Naidoo
This is my go-to place whenever the sushi craving hits!

They offer a value menu (discounted prices) during certain times, so it really is value for money.

I really enjoy the "prawn passion roll", their take on a deep fried roll. It's breaded on the outside and deep fried, not like the usual soggy tempura batter around the prawn only. I usually get three portions of this because it's so good!

I also go for the "prince prawn kiss" which is a take on a prawn rose wrapped in avo slices and topped with chopped strawberries. It sounds crazy but it's a match made in heaven! A little bit slippery to try and manage with chopsticks, but amazing once you conquer it.

Their prawn and peppadew fashion sandwich is also great, as is their seared salmon.

A must try when in the Claremont area!

**Update: came here for dinner tonight and decided to give something else on the menu a try because I always smell such wonderful aromas wafting from the kitchen. As you can see, I had my staple sushi options and I'm glad I did because the chicken and cashew with egg noodles was incredibly bland and uneventful. Would rather spend my money on the sushi than anything else on the menu.

They offer 50% off the a la carte sushi menu on Thursdays, with a few cocktail and beer specials thrown into the mix.
Mbaki Wotho
fans favourite among uct students, the value menu is great though I definitely preferred when they had less items and it was half off. the bon bons are great and the service is usually great. having lived in Claremont I often go when I know it won't be busy because the turnaround times can get annoying. you should definitely try the tanqueray mojito, get an extra shot in there for that extra kick.
The Authentic Girl
My girlfriends and I love eating out and trying new restaurants. Last week Friday we decided to check out Salushi restaurant, an Asian restaurant which offers quality dining in a warm and relaxed environment. The ambiance of Salushi restaurant is quite warm, relaxed and the staff are very friendly.

These cocktails were delicious and quite reasonably priced. Its the kinda cocktail you need after a long day when the girls get together ;) We ordered the original Mojito (R39), Frozen Fruit Daiquiri (R42), Blue Margarita (R32) and whiskey on the rocks.

Just a side note, if you are ordering normal tap water, you will be charged for it and the glass/jar. The funds are then donated to charity.
The starters were delicious, the spring rolls were light, crispy and decadent. But the spicy calamari stole the show, it was tender and crispy on the outside.

Rice paper chicken rolls with crunchy veg and pan fried chicken wrapped in a rice paper cone, served with a peanut sauce.

I ordered the noodles marinated with sweet and sour beef strips. It had the right balance of sweet and sour, the beef was tender and the noodles was cooked to perfection! Topped with sesame seeds and spring onion for extra crunch ... MMMMMMMM

Overall, its quite a trendy little spot in Claremont. I will definitely go back for those noodles!

This place has incredible sushi and friendly staff. They have a lovely outside area for those who enjoy some fresh air. However, the food each time I have been here, has taken extremely long to get to us. This is definitely not a place you should go to hungry.

Their value menu for lunch and certain days for dinner is definitely worth trying although I feel sometimes their sushi doesn't taste as fresh as competitors but the lower price can be worth it.

Best sushi I've ever tasted. I am not particularly a sushi fan but I have had my fair share and I can honestly say that this is by far the best sushi I've ever tasted.

I opted for the Prawn Passion Roll and the Prawn Tempura California Rolls and my friend decided on the Salmon Crunch Rolls and the Takky Tempura. All very delicious and extremely filling at perfectly good prices.

The service was good, our waiter was often at lengthy distance when we needed him but our wait for our food was not arduous.

Definitely my new favorite sushi restaurant and keen to try their noodles and dessert next! Came to salushi for date night! I've never been here before and heard so much about it so was very keen to try it out!

We came on a tuesday night so we got the special menu which offered some value for money sushi. The best platter we had was the bon bons platter. That platter was just so tasty! You have to have it! Overall a very nice night! All the sushi places are pretty good so its tough to choose a favourite. Still not sure where this ranks on my sushi list - but fairly high!

Salushi is my favorite sushi spot in the southern suburbs. I'm a regular here, because the quality and flavor of their menu is always consistent and always impeccable. Doesn't matter what day you go, their pricing is really reasonable and the service is warm and friendly. I just love this place. Views of the mountain are stunning - sitting outside on a sunny day is best. Try the Bon Bon gifts and spicy fashion sandwiches.

I went here for takeaways. They have one of the best tasting sushi I have ever had. It's quite intimate and cosy and there's the option of sitting outside. The host/manager was very friendly. The sushi platter I had was amazing.

Value for money sushi is a winner at Salushi. Their value menu on most afternoons and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening hit the spot. Especially the Bon Bon gifts! We went on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. It wasn't that full so our booking didn't seem necessary, but it would be too cold to go in the outside area unless you're happy to brave the blankets and heater. Service was fast and pleasant.

Sushi is always delicious. Bon bons are one of the calling cards.

However, as with most restaurants if the service is poor, it makes the entire experience leave a bad taste. Had one waiter keep hooking and banging into my chair, also our waiter was forever nowhere to be found. Level of courtesy from staff is very, very poor.

Had a late lunch with girlfriends today. Hadn't been in a very long time and surprised to see how shabby the interior is beginning to look. They should hit refresh very soon.

Probably my favourite seafood restaurant. Not the biggest seafood person, but Salushi has managed to win me over. Their seafood fusion is amazing. Would recommend it to any and everyone. Great portions, great price, really good service. Overall a fantastic spot.

Personally I'm not a Sushi fan so this probably isn't the spot for me but my spring rolls were decent and my lindt chocolate mousse was divine. I just found our waiter to be very distracted and those having sushi (3/4 of us) had to wait a while for the sushi to arrive. It wasn't too busy either so I don't know what the reason for that was. Not a place I'd go voluntarily.

The sushi is always fresh and delicious at Salushi. My favourite has to be the Bon Bon gift which is the perfect proportion of fish to rice. I found the service to be a bit slow and I waited a long time for my sushi to be brought to the table. My partner had the chicken noodle dish which he found tasty and filling. The lindt desserts are always a win. The chocolate spring roll is great.

Lunch time & the best solution is always going to be Salushi when I'm in the Southern Suburbs!

I love that the inside and outside seating areas give you 2 pleasantly contrasting atmospheres. Outside is refreshing summer while inside is elegant winter... Season doesn't matter even when it comes to the menu that offers equally delicious warm & cold dishes!

My favorites are always going to be the tacky tempura & Bon Bons gift which never dissapoints!! And then pair that with a glass of Fleur du Cap Sauvignon Blanc or the Tanquery Mojito & you're on your way to belly happiness...

The service is always great! Occasionally one waits a while for the sushi to arrive but it's always worth the wait as pieces are freshly prepared upon order... Also, just have a drink & chill while you wait!

Salushi is a fun spot to grab a quick bite of sushi. We didn't make a booking (next time I will) so we stayed for a short amount of time before guests were arriving. It wasn't a problem though- service is quick. I had a virgin strawberry daiquiri and the rainbow roll - super fresh and tasty! Will definitely book next time but a great stop nonetheless

In my first year I used to go to salushi quite often as their food was good and their service was always pleasant. But as the years have gone by the food quality has gone down and it's no longer my go to place.

Very cosy place in the busy Claremont🍲🍣🍤

I ordered the Mediterranean sweet and sour beef strips and noodles. It was a satisfying serving, lots of Asian flavours. Salushi is also reasonably priced, the decor is very western modern which doesn't really fit with the menu. I would've loved to seen more traditional meals and drinks on the menu. The service is adequate, waiting time for our meal was about 15min. I would recommend for a quick and filling meal.

I'd say my favorite spot for sushi in Cape Town. Must say, if it was situated somewhere closer to the ocean this place would be full 24/7. The sushi is sublime, always... Been there more times than I can count and never had I had a bad experience. Staff is friendly although maybe the service is not topnoch; but that is forgotten once you have a 20 piece platter in front of you. I recommend the princes prawn kisses; prawn and rice with tiny pieces of strawberries wrapped with a thin avocado slice, while topped with sweet chili sauce. Just got hungry from writing that. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Salushi is always a good spot to stop for some good sushi. Stunning setting and great service. Options are great and so are the portions. Great wines too. It really is a nice place to take a couple of friends. Parking in the area is a little tricky though.

i enjoy the variety at salushi and the fact that they're consistent. the sushi is fresh and never overpowering. it is one of the better sushi places in my opinion.

Seriously yummy sushi!!! And so many different options and specials 😍

Salushi offers high quality sushi for a seriously decent price, R400 for those 46 pieces pieces plus the spring rolls and tip.

My waiter was great and they even let us come in and order before the officially opened. Generally the kitchen is slow at the beginning of the day but the sushi cane out speedily.

I highly recommend putting Salushi on your sushi bucket list.

Excellent sushi-fresh and a variety of types. The Lindt chocolate desserts are also delicious so it best to save this restaurant for a cheat day. The service can be below par at times, but that's the only downfall of this great restaurant.

I stopped by for some sushi, which I must say was good but the service not so much. Our waiter practically forgot about us, and I landed up asking three different waiters to get my waiter.

Not only were we seated outside which meant it was super cold, but they also have a really stupid configuration - Instead of making the resturant one area by opening up the glass doors (and only having one main entrance) they block off the outside and make the poor waiters walk through the tent-like flap, which is one; unhygienic (as I saw a prawn being flung off someone's sushi as it came through the 'doors') and two, it's just down right annoying for the person sitting in that vicinity, not to mention the cold air.

Overall, sushi was good. Service, not so much.

The sushi here is outstanding - fresh, delicious, with loads of variety. It is a beautiful dining venue, and the inside has an arrangement of luxurious couch-like seating for the tables. The location is a bit unusual or odd; it's kind of next to/inside the reception of a block of upmarket apartments.

My only issue involves service. On 3 occasions, the waiter was not cared about checking on us or our order, and waiting time for food bordered on the absurd (an hour 15 minutes). If you're a patient person who simply visits places for food, then this is not generally an issue, but even your patience might be tested if you're treated in this manner on several occasions!

Other than that, I love the sushi but didn't enjoy other items on the menu like the noodles, so I suggest sticking to just sushi. The white chocolate mousse is heavenly, but they don't always have it. Go here with friends, but a first date might be tricky if your date catches you chastising the waiter for terrible service delivery :')

Sushi that never disappoints. Salushi is one of my favourite places for good sushi. Even though it can be a bit pricey, the quality of food is consistently good and the array of options of sushi specialties is really good. The staff are friendly and helpful, always smiling and providing good service. I would recommend trying this restaurant out for their sushi, as it never fails to impress.

The first time I went to Salushi, I ordered a noodle dish which was a bit disappointing however I had the stuffed calamari starter which was amazing. I went the other night and tried their sushi, I had the crab fashion sandwiches and the vegetable crunch roll. Both very nice but a little expensive. Definitely one of the best places for sushi.

I usually enjoy their sushi which is very fresh and tasty. They have good variety and I like the prawn and strawberry combo which is called the prince's kisses. I don't consider their sushi very cheap compared to other places in Cpt but I don't mind paying the price for good sushi in a very clean and neat spot in Claremont. On my last visit I had the three course set menu, choosing prawn and cheese spring rolls for starters, the chicken chilli paste noodles for mains and the almond and lindt spring rolls for dessert. The starter was average, the mains didn't have a Thai taste that I expected and the dessert was a little dry with as much almond as chocolate. I'd still recommend it for the excellent price 😊
