Quant secure park with much imagination play. Mountain back drop create picturesque backdrop. Fantastic coffee shop right next door. Always bring a jacket though...weather always a little colder so close to the mountain.

The only place in central Cape Town perfect for kids activities in the shade combined with a restaurant for adults and kids alike . As for the restaurant it keeps on evolving getting better where I never thought possible. Plus the introduction of all the heath stuff is superb. The prices for the quality are brilliant It's a privilege to go there .

I enjoyed the ambiance of Deer Park. A relaxed dinner under the trees. This is a particularly good restaurant if you have small kids with a big play area. The nice thing is that the play area is far enough away that you are not inundated by noisy kids.
Cradled at the foot of Table Mountain is this gem - a must for families with children who have access to myriad activities while parents while away their time enjoying any and many of the different-to-the-normal run-of-the-mill café food. We enjoyed a traditional stack and eggs Florentine followed by cappuccinos with which to wash it down.
I just love Deer Park (even the kids which, being a non-parent, I say in the nicest possible way) and so did my friends – their first time there and I am sure not their last.
The fried mushrooms were just delicious, as was the crispy free-range bacon?
Sad to see the grass suffering so with the current water crisis. It must be wonderful to hold a picnic there and celebrate someone’s birthday.
I always have a good experience here. Wonderful place to spend your morning or afternoon in. Summer days are best spent outside overlooking a huge playground to keep the kids occupied. Waiters are always friendly and welcoming, and their food never disappoints.
Deer Park Cafe is a world of opposites. For those with kids it's fabulous. We sipped pims while the kids laid waste to the playground equipment and the sun set over signal hill.
Outside is lovely, overlooking the park, and provided you can overlook the little terrors. Inside is a bit utilitarian, but perfectly adequate.
The Mrs had the beef tacos and I had a chicken curry. In her many words, she described hers as 'tasty' but was still nibblish afterwards. My curry was solid but not inspired, except for the potatoes, which were delicious. The kids had a burger and spagbol which were 'good' and 'nice' respectively. Clearly they have learnt to communicate from their mother.
Food is ok but the venue is great if you get a seat outside. Very loud inside for some reason. Sitting outside next to the park the way to go.

I like being surrounded by people, distracted by new sights, and having the opportunity to experience lots of things, whether that be restaurants or movies or whatever else a typical city day might bring. Too much introspection scares me a little (especially over the last little while), but as I’m sitting here at six o’clock on a dark and rainy morning – a welcome relief after the scorching heat of yesterday (where Cape Town was the hottest city in the world) – I’m reminded that a little quiet time is probably a good thing. I like the ocean, after all, and walks through nature, where the beauty of the ‘real world’ reminds me of what matters. Lucky for me then that I live in Cape Town, where such ‘reliefs’ from city life are plenty. And even within the city, there are little treasures that allow you to sit back, stare out over the world, and reflect on life – and Deer Park, this week’s feature restaurant, is certainly one of them.
For parents of energetic runabouts, this place is a must add to the w'end list. Whilst the little tykes runamuck in the kiddy park, Dad & Mom can oversee from the outside dining area & enjoy either b'fast or lunch. A great selection of classic b'fasts to choose from and a lunch board that changes for the seasons. The vindaloo heat could be dialled up a bit more for the serious curry buff but overall most will find something comforting from the menu. If it's a warmer day and the nanny has the kids under control, there's quite a list of wines to keep you busy. The staff are very kid aware and super friendly so the occasional tantrum won't faze them at all.
Perfect spot to enjoy with kids. We normally go for breakfast but the lunches are nice too. The menu is quite small but all the food is tasty and healthy.
The coffee is good as are the bakery items. They also have freshly squeezed juices.
The park is enclosed so the kids can go wild while you relax. The service is quite slow but it's not the sort of place we would go for a quick bite, the kids can play there for hours.
So I've come here quite a few times as I'm a nanny and the service is very good, people are very friendly... and....the food is amazing!! Definitely try the chicken sandwich with roasted mango and rocket... yum1
It's right next to like - a dog park, but for children? Which can be a little disorienting, but people seem to bring their children to every kind of bar in Cape Town anyway, so at least there's a designated space for them. The food's pretty nice, the smoothies are great because I guess new parents need to get their vitamins where they can get 'em, the view is soothing.
This is a very popular spot for folks with kids, it has a big play area outside. The service can be quite slow, especially on the weekend.
The first time we stopped in here, I had the eggs florentine. The eggs were done to perfection. On the second visit, I had the fresh toast. It was scrummy! The food is also reasonably priced. A great spot for some brekkie especially if you have kids.
UPDATE: The French Toast seems to have declined in its awe-ing effect it once had on me. The banana and bacon have decreased on quantity, and therefore the dish loses out on the whole. I don't know if this is to save money, but it is definitely a mistake for the dish. My coffee milkshake was still delicious 😋.
Deer Park café is a trendy place where families hang out at the foot of the beautiful table mountain. The restaurant offers a variety of well designed items, cooked with experience and care. The items are slightly excessively priced, however the quality of food is top notch. The ice coffee is something I get every time I go as it is refreshing and tastes very good. The restaurant has direct access to the park itself, which is a bonus for kids and pet owners alike.
Overall, a respectable 4/5.
Such a lovely place to go a relax with your kids for Breakfast and Lunch. Warm friendly safe environment that is match by the food and staff. Fresh and healthy options for kids and adults alike. So if you are in need of a great breakfast, lunch or dinner and somewhere safe for the kids to run around and play, this is the best choice in the City Bowl by far!
Great for kids...a fantastic setting. We should have booked because it was extremely busy! Frezh breakfast but very limited. Overall good service and great freshly squeezed fruit juices. Will def be back!

Ok well i only had a croissant and a cuppa java but Kamili coffee always gets me! Id really recommend it! And what a lovely fresh soft and tasty croissant. Looks like a great place to grab a meal with the kids while they play in the park
Very kid friendly restaurant. Will definitely take my niece there next weekend when I babysit. Staff was so friendly and the service excellent. I just had a flat white and a croissant. Kamili coffee which is really good and the croissant was nice and buttery with a little crunch exterior.
It was our 3rd time at deer park and it's always so nice there! It was a stormy morning and we couldn't go outside, but there where more then enough space for the little ones to play around the table. Our food was delicious and their freshly presses juices are always a winner!
Great neighborhood space with very thoughtfully prepared food. I have tried many things on the menu and I have not been disappointed once. If you have kids and need a place for them to burn off some steam while you chill, then here's your place. Or, leave your kids at home and you'll still enjoy.
I love this cafe! I often camp out here when I need to get out of my home office - the staff are friendly but don't hover, the wifi is strong and with no time limits and the food has never disappointed. I always go for the 'all in one' fresh juice - beetroot, carrot, Apple and ginger. There is a small menu but a daily specials board that usually has some exciting combinations. I forgot to take a pic of my meal - which was fillet with stir fried greens and I asked for rice instead of mash. There is a park playground off the cafe - so the place is filled with a mixture of families, nannies, after school treats and working professionals. Such a lovely vibe.

I love this place purely because it is within walking distance from where I currently stay. The food is good, but a little pricey. The highlight of this place for me is their breakfasts, the view and the free wifi. I prefer to go early in the morning when there are just a handful of people there. I've been there once over a weekend and it was chaotic, kids running around everywhere, people talking over one another. It's better when it's quiet. Haha
Very pleasant Sunday afternoon- the nachos are great and the atmosphere is chilled- like the beer. Service is efficient and the kids love it .

Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. Very relaxed atmosphere which may result in apparent bad service. Breakfast dishes are well presented tasty. Lunch far exceeded my expectations - This chef clearly knows what he is doing. Good value.
Went there for a Mothers Day breakfast and had my little niece with us. It's the perfect spot to keep the kids entertained during breakfast as it has an attached park. The food took a while for what we ordered but I suspect it might have been busier than usual because of Mothers Day and there were quite a few big tables so didn't hold it against them. The breakfasts were well priced and enjoyed my quinoa oats with poached fruit.
Good spot if you're looking for a no-fuss dinner. No need to dress up and you can just be. It's the kind of place where I don't need to wear makeup because most of the people there are families :). I enjoy the food, although I find the portions too small. Or perhaps it's too healthy and am not used to having sooo much vegetables in my plate. I recommend the risotto balls - very good. You only get 3-4 though which seems little but they are quite filling nonetheless. Do order a starter along or a dessert. I also enjoy the lamb kofta with artichokes, salad and tzatziki. Great family place where kids can safely play in the jungle gym and you can still keep an eye on them from your table outside.
Mixed feelings about this place. I hate the decor. It feels like I am at a mess hall at a camping ground. It's great for families with small kids though. The food is pretty good. I have been there a few times for their eggs benedict which was done well. But the service has been slow everytime. Nobody has time to wait forever for a coffee or the bill.

Definitely one of my winter favourites. The soups and meals are wholesome and tasty, and the feel is wonderful, especially in the evening.
This place is a complete winner on a rainy day.
I've attended a couple of the Deer Park legendary vegan evenings and I highly recommend this as a fun night out with great food that might challenge your perspective on what a vegan diet entails. The food is great, but I feel the desserts can be given some more attention.
