Review Seelan Restaurant And Bar - Cape Town Central

Perfect for events, small family dinners, a special date night. Good Value for money especially considering the top quality food. The staff are professional, well trained, efficient and friendly. Seelan overlooks the Waterfront Harbour and is simply perfect for brunch, lunch until sunset and stars. You really feel special when you dine here. It has outdoor seating and indoor seating as well as a beautiful bar. They have televisions inside which often play sport or important events. Seelan as a venue for events, is a wise choice. They cater well and set up everything to your liking. Sometimes there is a live band or dj present, playing music. You'll make such fond memories here!

We got vouchers to the place and it was literally hidden away. A level below the Balthazar at the Harbour mouth. The waiter was extremely friendly who could easily name the 6 dishes and 3 deserts for us which was available. We both chose the beef fillet which was lovely, add to that the mushroom and pepper sauces we received was a damn fine ways better than any other place we have eaten at. The chips were good, the onion rings i believed was killed by the cook. I dont ever remember eating crispy onion rings. Further than that I would love to try one of their seafood dishes. A single platter at R700 and double at R1200. I would be curious and would love to see if they match the price on taste and presentation.

A relaxed atmosphere coupled with an amazing dining experience is what awaits you at Seelan Bistro & Bar. Our waiter Ashley was very accommodating, warm and welcoming. The hostess, noticing we were on a date, asked if we wanted to be moved somewhere more quiet. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you Seelan.

………8th Apr 2018: -….This remains one of the most superb-lii located restaurants at the edge of the bay/quay/harbour at the V & A Waterfront, Cape Town. Where you can sit tranquil-lii especial-lii on a Sunday morning when this sometimes chaotic and vibrant place is quieted down and enjoy the terrific views of all the different types and shapes of big and small seafaring vessels anchored here, even watching them launch out to sea some for pleasure trips entertaining locals and foreigners alike! That’s besides the most amazing-lii awesome views of the One and Only New Seventh Wonder of the world “Table-Mountain” standing there in all its splendour! Even the Big Wheel is in full view right from the outside seating it’s just so breath-taking-lii surreal! You are never disappointed when you arrive here where the table settings are always very elegant with white table-cloths a small vase of fresh-lii cut petit miniature live flowers the napkins on the side-plates are of a superior quality-ii even embossed with the name “Seelan” on it! They have a good few matured male staff members who seem well suited in the work that they are cut out to perform as true gentlemen always pleasant explaining the menu in detail so you know beforehand exact-lii what you are getting! Our waiter was Pappa Joe and he was very competent! There Gourmet breakfasts are nothing out of the extra-ordinarii but you just know that it’s a good clean fresh-lii prepared delicious meal you will through-lii enjoy! They do also have some different meals on offer for breakfast like the Primi-Vera egg custard which they serve with a tomato & rocket salad but when you’re ravenous there’s no time to experiment! Hehehe! Maybe next time! The restaurant is very big inside with a full bar with seating right there! On Thursday nights they have a Jazz-Nite from 18:00 to 22:00! They are also very concerned for their patrons that might have one to many so they vivid-lii advertise for a Drive-You-Home service “Nite-Owls” the App to call them is available as a download! Very thought-full! They also have their Meal-Deals available through Wiki-Deals which is very affordable! This is a must visit restaurant! Always a Monies-Worth experience ……………………..NB! The kitchen here is full-ii “HALAAL”!! Just found this out today!....10 out of 10………………….... .What a Magnificently Situated Restaurant! We used a hyperli voucher which got us a main and a dessert. The food was decent, nothing much to speak of. Prawns are always subpar (smallest prawns I’ve seen). Dessert was amazing. Service was okay and the ambience was really spot on. I would return but only with vouchers as the prices for the platters are way above average.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch of fish & chips with a bottle of Chardonnay. It's a very relaxing place to enjoy a romantic meal, in such a legendary and historic city. Staff was very efficient and the restaurant is clean.

Nice place with great ambiance.. Very disappointing however dat they did not have da crayfish which was one of da main course meal choices, which most of us were looking forward to. Theres room for improvement with regards to service and id say da best part of the night there wud have to have been da desert.. Absolutely divine!

Seelan Restaurant & Bar is your next date night venue. Seelan takes a comfort & relaxation, but makes it vibey. With a beautiful view of Table Mountain and the harbour sounds to accompany your meal, there really isn’t any other way to do your next date night, girl’s get-together, or birthday celebration. 🍾 Seelan Sundoo takes a variety of dishes, as well as his own signature meals to create a menu that sparks imagination for your palette. From seafood, to pasta, to poultry, there’s a dish with a personal touch on Seelan’s menu. My boyfriend and I had our own date night at Seelan, enjoying cocktails and one of the best meals we’ve had. Starting with the Mango Daiquiri (it has Sailor Jerry - yum!) and fresh West Coast Oysters, you’re bringing the taste of the ocean right next to you, to your plate. 🍹 The Paradise Comso (because Reyka Vodka 🤩) was definitely my favorite cocktail of the night! I opted for a Wild Mushroom & Truffle pasta (also recommended by the waiter), while my boyfriend was daring and had the duck - something he hasn’t had before. There weren’t words to describe the meal except “OMG!” and “Wow! This is SO good!” Whatever you try on the menu, I know it’s going to be packed with flavour and taste. There’s nothing like a creamy creme brûlée to end your menu, and Seelan got it right! Actually, Seelan get everything right. A vibe, atmosphere, food and drinks. Take a drive to the Waterfront, and indulge in a fusion of meals!

I have been there for lunch, and the food was great. I went for the recommendation, tbone + plus desert and both were amazing. The meat is really delicious and tender, don't add any sauce because it has a great quality. I tried other great steak house in the city, and I would recommend Seeland instead of oter one. My girlfriend tried the salad of seafood that was very good as well. The view of the terrace is great. The service was 5 starts, they even offer a desert to my girlfriend, since I had a menu that included desert just for me. It is a good option in the waterfront

Really very good. Nothing is too much trouble for the guys and we ended up eating there most nights

It was our first time dining here and we enjoyed it. It was part of a wiki deal that I purchased and generally coupons aren't redeemable on public holidays but the restaurant was very willing to accommodate us. The wait staff were very friendly especially our server. I don't recall his name but he was wonderful. I had a steak and my husband had a seafood platter. Our food was perfectly presented and tasted great as well. We had a trio of desserts for dessert consisting of a brownie, cheese cake and something else I can't quite remember now. This too was delicious. Definitely a restaurant I would go to again.

We used a voucher from wiki deals and this place did not treat us any different. We were warm welcomed and while they were preparing our table we were seated at the bar for less than 2min. We were then ushered to our table where we were provided with quite a selection for a voucher. Drinks came almost immediately, and could have it outside while we were having a smoke. Food came which was impressive, service was great although they did charge me for the drinks when it was part of the voucher, I didn't mind paying because I received Fantastic service, good food and wine. I will definitely go back.

Fabulous food and great experience. Hats off to the manager on the evening we were there. The waiter informed us that it was a busy day and that they had run out a particular starter that everybody at our table had decided on. We informed the manager we were not happy. He went beyond the call of duty and told us that he would arrange the starter for us if we were prepared to wait just a little. In the mean time they topped the table up with their lovely complementary bread. In a little while the starters arrived and it was fantastic, definitely well worth the wait. This amazing service set the tone for rest of the evening which was fantastic. Five stars for excellent service and a great experience.

Great atmosphere on the side of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront overlooking the docks. Menu is well planned with a choice for everyone's favourite meal option. Good wine list with good locally sourced wines. Service is friendly. Staff is well dressed and professional. Enjoy the view of table mountain.

Very good service, lovely location, great cocktails, not much variety but they're good
Ria
Tried out the prawn curry, lamb curry and prawns. The food was pretty average - filled the gap. Service was good and location brilliant. The prawns were over priced and did not deliver on taste.
I was really looking forward to trying the restaurant but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. There was a really strange smell which was masked by burning incense.

The staff were great, and incredibly helpful and friendly. The menu is rather limited, but the food is incredibly tasty. They gave us the most amazing bean and lentil soup as a starter (it was a little chilly that evening) They are accommodating with requests to add to a meal. Ask for recommendations from the waiters, they know the menu so well. The decor is relatively uninspiring and looks a little like the furniture is on loan from different family members. But they also have a few 5star touches, like the plates that are branded. So a bit of disconnect on decor. You won’t walk away hungry or poor.

My husband purchased the wiki deal voucher and he had the steak and I had the seafood platter. It was absolutely divine, so full of flavor and the service by Papa Joe was awesome!!! We'll def be back for more..

Just last week we visited Seelans at the V&A Waterfront.

We would like to thank you guys so much for always taking such wonderful care or us.

Since 2017 we started going to Seelan’s, the owner Mr Seelan Sundoo has always been very warm and hospitable. He never fails to make every visit a special one from the delicious food to the amazing ambiance.

The staff is always very accommodating with the right balance of friendliness and efficiency, on the ball and overall took good care of us.

All personnel were very well trained. Our waiter was absolutely superb, we could not decide on what to eat since everything sounded so yummy our waiter the chef surprised us with a mystery dish, it was a seafood platter but no ordinary platter, packed and stuffed (overflowing) with crayfish, prawns, the works!

It lacked nothing at all, all your cravings in one - a 2 meter long platter, it just put everyone in awe.

The staff is absolutely fantastic, from the manager checking up on us - giving us complimentary dessert, the chef coming to make sure everything is okay. Our waiter so polite, attentive and every attention to detail was given.

The food was amazing and arrived within minutes.

Every time you go to Seelan’s at the V&A Waterfront it’s an absolute breath of fresh air, they never fail to make you feel welcomed and at home. The view was just breath taking and the excellent service is the cherry on top of the cake.

We have never experienced such good customer service.

The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price.

With that being said, I cannot fail to mention…..

The delicious rustic bunny chows can be found at Sundoo’s, the delightful spot can be found in the Sea Point area just off the main road.

The fresh hollow loafs are filled with delicious authentic Indian curry of your choice. If you have the lamb bunny chow you will not go wrong!

The curries are to die for, ridiculously mouthwatering!

Usually bunny chows are supposed to be messy but the variety is insane, there is an option of ordering a trio of bunny’s, its less messier and ideal if you prefer eating with a knife and fork.

The service is exceptional and the manager Tuno, what a delightful soul.

Whilst ordering our food we actually witnessed a little incident.. a young lady was about to pay her bill but accidently blocked her card, seemingly she forgot her password to pay for the bill, she was absolutely distraught about the whole thing, but the kind and understanding staff of Sundoo’s made a plan and allowed her to come back and pay the following day.

That’s the beauty of this lovely Indian spot they put trust into their customers and their customers put trust into Sundoo.

We will definitely be back for more!

Both places are an absolute delight for a quick work lunch, our clients are always impressed!

love love love the fact that we can order in for the office, they are available on Mr delivery.

Well done & Congratulations on your new restaurant Macau

Our next stop! Cannot wait to try it out!!!!!

Quality of sea food was great ! Well prepared, good ambience and service, more options for vegetarians would be great, some options were priced out when compared to other restaurants of a similar standard close by !
Natasha
Good ambiance. Seafood salad is divine, but found the lamb chops a tad too salty. Portions medium in size and on the pricier end of the spectrum. Worth a try.

I loved the food here! Everyone was happy with their meals, and we had friendly staff attending us. I must say however, that I was disappointed with the ambiance of the place. And the menu is a bit limiting (not much fish)

A friend and I used a hyperli voucher which got us a seafood combo for two. Honestly, the food was horrible. The meat was dry and the sauce was over powering, so we couldn't finish our meals. Also, I found a staple in my food, for which our waiter apologised and explained that it probably came from the packaging. I got chills just thinking about what would've happened if I'd swallowed it. Although our waiter was great, I'm never visiting the establishment again.

Possibly my worst dining experience yet.. i would not recommend this to anyone. The most unprofessional staff I have experienced. There seafood platter was bland and oily

Got a special on hyperli for this place. I was very excited to try it out, my love for sea food led me to their doorstep. The service and hospitality was top notch. I unfortunately cannot say the same about the food. What a mess! Nothing tasted nice guys, not even the calamari. It was disappointing. The cocktail was really good. So if you wanna go, maybe just have the cocktails.

I had dinner at Seelan’s not too long ago and I thought their seafood was superb.I would definitely recommend the seafood platter, service and ambience wasn’t too bad either.

Purchased a wikideal which consisted of a main and dessert for 2. I chose the seafood platter for 2 and my partner chose the sirloin and chips and we swapped meals halfway through. Both meals were amazing... Seafood platter had a tasty range of prawns, calamari and line fish. It was served with a wonderful garlic butter sauce and a spicy tomato sauce which reminded me so much of a traditional fish curry. The steak was prepared to perfection served with crisp onion rings and chips and a lovely mushroom sauce. The trio of desserts ended off the meal wonderfully as the pieces were the right size to share between 2 people. Orders a Mango daiquiri as well. All their cocktails can be made non alcoholic as well.

I came to Seelan with my boyfriend for date night. Luckily we found a wikideal voucher otherwise this restaurant wouldn't have been an option for us budget wise. The voucher entitled us to two mains and a trio of desserts to share. I ordered the platter for one whilst my partner ordered the seafood linguine. Both meal portions were huge and ingredients were fresh. After a big meal the little dessert trio was perfect to share and ended the dining experience on a great note.

Oh my goodness.... I have never eaten pasta this good and this tasty! The wild mushroom and truffel pasta was absolutely divine. Not only was it a decent serving for a hungry lady, but it was seasoned to perfection and you just want to gobble it all down.
Albeit very rich and you might feel ill afterwards, you just can't help but want to lick the plate.
Amazing and well done to the chef.
Miguel Dos Santos
Service here was attentive and friendly but unfortunately I can’t be as positive about the food. The value for money was really poor and although the fish was fresh, the chicken definitely wasn’t. The starter was really good though. The best thing about this place was probably the view. Overall an average experience.

Used a wikideals coupon for breakfast (2 people) . They didn't have the options advertised which we wanted to order. We were offered a replacement fish on one dish and ended up getting sausage without being asked. Service was OK. Cocktails were good.
Johan
Don’t be fooled by the nice setting of this restaurant. That is all it has going for it. Poorly run, over-priced and disappointing food, shocking service levels. You will leave hungry and frustrated. Spend your money elsewhere!

Quintessential Waterfront: Average food at an absurd price range

The set up is quite lovely and the wait staff are are incredibly helpful, attentive and knowledgeable of the establishment’s offering.

I wanted to try the Crayfish Thermidor but they were out of stock, so I opted for the Seafood Platter. The crumbed calamari was tasty and cooked well while the grilled calamari, unfortunately, was rubbery and lacked flavour. The fish itself was dry and bland, and the two prawns that come with the platter were smaller than an infants small finger

For dessert, we had the trio which consisted of baked cheese cake, chocolate brownie and malva pudding served with a scoop of ice cream. The brownie was absolutely gorgeous, warm and fudgey. The other two left much to be desired, the malva was not soft and syrupy as malva should be, whilst the cheesecake was grainy and tasted much like a flan

Sitting here right now. This place is stunning on the outside but the service is pathetic if not non existent. Prices are not worth it at all. I live in joburg and would rather dine at a spur there than this place. A definite no go for those who are used to joburg’s vibe and good service.
Carmen Abrahams
Nice ambience...but will not return in a hurry. My prawn curry was average. The rice was bland..not even basmati. Oh and condiments included some Mrs Balls chutney and some dry chopped red onion and tomato. Terribly dissapointing considering the pricing. A terrible fish smell also greets you at the door.
Service was ok.
Aletha Jeftha
Update: that age old saying ‘all good things must come to an end’. Sigh. Returned for lunch for what I remembered to be the best tasting kingklip I’ve ever had. Ordered a starter of grilled calamari with my kingklip tagliata main. Average at best. Honestly I was super disappointed and I probably could’ve had way better at Ocean Basket for a fraction of the cost.

Kingklip was dry and over cooked, swimming in soy sauce??!! What happened to the tomato based sauce it used to be served with? The shaved cheese on the kingklip was hard. Like cheese one has left unwrapped in the fridge for months. Calamari was over cooked and probably not fried in fresh oil.

Service was however still impeccable. Food was served very quickly. But sadly this did not make up for the subpar food served. Reducing the score from the previous 4 given. I will likely not return.

Review 1: I'm not sure why people score this place so low, when the service and food is impeccable. If you are going fine dining, one needs to be prepared to pay the price and accept that you will not get absurdly large portion sizes that one would find at a "De Kelder".

I ordered the kingklip tagliata and my friend their steak upon recommendation from the table seated next to us i.e. she claimed that it was the best steak she's ever had.

The kingklip was beyond amazing! Those flavours! Had a bite of my friend's steak and it was also very very good - probably not the best steak I've ever had, but pretty close.

Word of warning, mains do not come with sides - so these need to be ordered separately.

The desserts are ok, not amazing; so focus on their food.

The service is really good! Very attentive waiters that know the menu well and are able to give good recommendations.

Will I return? Yes! (Even after my Entertainer vouchers run out, lol).

We were a party of 16 for a staff function and had booked a table in advance. Although it was set up nicely and the waiter attentive, the rest of the place didn't impress me at all. The food is incredibly average to say the least and highly overpriced. The sole was 2 small thin dried out pieces of very salty "fish" (struggling to even call it that) for R240! Shocking.
The kingklip was slightly better but very small portion for the R195 you pay. Wine by the glass is a hefty R60, although that was still payable as it was quite good.
The tuna carpaccio starter was well seasoned and probably the best dish of the night. The east coast shrimp starter had a very odd smell and was cooked with beans which was weird. Only 4 shrimps in the whole dish.

The coffee is relatively good, being nespresso. The cheesecake was good, but very expensive for an incredibly small slice (R65). I was also told it comes with ice cream and that I can have ice cream with the malva as well, when it arrived there was no ice cream and I was told that it is melted so they gave me cream instead, but 5min later I saw the waiter take out ice cream & choc sauce to another table!! Not impressed.

All in all very disappointing. Won't be back.
Fouriejaco76
The service was okay, but the food was well below par. The rotisserie chicken I had was still red inside. My friends steak and rotisserie lamb was tough. Suggest you stick to their pasta dished. Everyone in our group eating pasta enjoyed their meal.

Our waiter was really helpfully, explained the menu In great detail and told us about all the specials. The t bone special and curry was tasty. we had a quite ambiance and it was cozy and warm for a winters night.

Khanya Kay Nondabula
The management is quite accommodating as more guests than expected pitched up, they moved us to a larger table. In the beginning the service was a bit slow considering how empty the restaurant was, we waited 30 minutes just to receive our drinks. I ordered the chicken tortellini pasta, it was al dente and a medium portion although I wish the flavours could have been stronger. The majority of people in the table enjoyed their meals, and most of the portions were generous. The food experience was rather average so I doubt I'll return.

We popped in here on a Sunday after a spot of shopping and decided to have lunch. What a great idea! This little bistro has a distinctly french feel and a menu to boot. My partner ordered the mussels steamed in coconut milk, lemongrass, and sake, while I chose the prawn curry served with rice and sambals. We couldn't figure out whose meal was nicer - and which waiter was nicer, too. Can't recommend enough. Will certainly be back.
NommieNoms
Popped in for brunch on a Saturday. Service was super slow. The wild mushroom and truffle pasta was way too oily and bland, I had to add salt to make it taste better. Very generous portion. My partner ordered the Bolognese sadly it didn't taste any better.
Allan Moita
One of the many restaurants in the V&A that seems to cater more for foreign guest, then local. Certainly friendly enough, their approach is that of seasoned veterans in the restaurant business. The lighting is bright, the decor maybe a little dated.

The menu selection is extremely wide. Offering everything from shellfish to game meats. Everything we ordered was well prepared and tasty. The wine list had everything you'd expected. Pricing is well varied.
Kim Martin
Enjoyed this restaurant. The mussels with white wine and garlic sauce was a definate must! Calamari was good but I found the sauce a bit bland. Service was a little on the slow side and was difficult to catch our waiters attention at times.
Nabeelah Shaboodien
Situated next to Sevruga with stunning views, this restaurant is absolutely beautiful on the inside as well but there are definite areas that need some attention. Our waitress was quite abrupt when taking our order, there was candlewax on the table cloth (clearly not cleaned up from the previous night as we came as soon as the restaurant opened this morning! Which means they didn't change their tablecloths from last night?) and their menu does not include any warm/ non-alcoholic beverages despite them serving these drinks.
Their breakfast menu also doesn't have any description of the breakfasts they serve - just "full breakfast", "health breakfast" etc - which leaves the waitress to explain what everything on the menu actually is.

Seelan is halaal friendly. I ordered the full breakfast with scrambled eggs, potato rosti, dhania sausage, grilled tomato and mushrooms, baked beans and toast.
We also ordered the French toast with caramelized pecan nuts, mixed fruit and smoked turkey.
Although the meals were tasty and portions decent, I was quite put off by the seeming lack of organization of this establishment. I will come again for one of their main meals to give them another chance in a few months time and hopefully things will be running a little smoother.

I really love coming to Seelan. The most memorable thing about the restaurant is the service.

The food - delicious! Their pasta is really tasty, especially the Vongole (with clams). The seafood is also top notch. I once came for dinner and they gave us a free tasting plate of desert which was a tasty surprise.

The location of the restaurant is also really nice.

Overall a lovely place for dinner or lunch.

We went here for an impromptu Valentine's dinner - i.e. we didn't book far in advance. I called and asked whether they had a table in the next 5 - 30 minutes and the person I spoke to said I could come right away. When I got there I was a bit disappointed that the table he was offering was one of the larger communal tables. He said it was absolutely the only one available and that the others had been reserved (I didn't see any reserved signs on most of them). Approx. 30 minutes into the evening another couple came in and he told them that they could either have the other communal table or sit at the romantically decorated table for two (they obviously went for the latter). Thereafter, another couple came and they set them up at our table, while there were TWO other open communal tables. It was distracting to have conversation while they were and the guy kept looking over the high bouquet to look at the dishes we ordered.

I honestly can't understand why they didn't offer us the table set for two and why they couldn't put the couple at the other table. I honestly felt like I was at a soccer match where I got the crappy seats with no view of the game whatsoever.

Perhaps don't be so greedy to make money and rather warn patrons that the only table you have is crappy, that way they can make up their minds before showing up at the restaurant.

*Phew, rant over*

Food: We started off with a calamari starter, and the lemon and herb flavoring was different, but delicious. For mains: honestly the best prawn curry I've had in my life, so far! It looks like it's a very popular choice, and the price and serving is good too. My boyfriend - always going for something meaty - had the T-bone steak. The steak was HUGE and tasty! I was surprised that the price wasn't too steep. It does come with a very small size of vegetables. He added sautéed potato for R30 and nearly lost his mind at the amazing taste.

Seelan it seems, can't put a foot wrong when it comes to their dishes.

Johan Mocke
Why so low? Excellent place, good atmosphere, food was tasty, BUT! R200 for a piece of kingklip? The steak was even cheaper!
The side salad was without any imagination. The pricey food is a real disappointment..
Deelan
Another restaurant I have been dying to try for ages. Situated on Quay 5 this place boasts a view of the ocean and docked boats ready for their sunset voyages. Our party of 8 was seated in the outside section which was bright and airy perfect for an afternoon lunch. I must admit I didn't even go to the inside section so I cannot comment on the atmosphere inside. Our waiter was very helpful, friendly and entertaining. I ordered the half rotisserie chicken "a Go-Go" green chili and herb sauce. I like my food on the spicy side and the waiter suggested I try the peri peri style of this meal, the result was incredible tender chicken cooked to perfection with a tasty very hot sauce (I only recommend this if you can handle the heat). I tasted some of the pastas which the rest of the group ordered too and they were all amazing. Special mention needs to go to the homemade chicken ravioli.

I was a disappointed that the restaurant was empty other than our group and also the menu prices were much higher than those I had seen on Zomato beforehand.

However, the experience was great and I would definitely visit again.
Bryan Vally
I wouldn't normally stop somewhere like Seelan (being skeptical of most places at the V&A), but they were closest to the Pirate Ship - don't ask! - so we had a quick coffee and juice before boarding. The coffee was okay and the juice was fresh. Service, however, was very stiff and somewhat nonplussed that we were not eating. The breakfasts around us looked alright.
The Foodie Corner
We decided to go for an early dinner at Seelan after our movie. Since it was one of those evenings where you just had to sit outside and soak up the spectacular views of the mountain and enjoy some harbor-side dining.

The vibe at Seelan is a lot like that of Sevruga, but perhaps a bit more laid back and affordable. One thing that struck me immediately is that the restaurant was definitely not as well kept as its neighbor - the table cloth looked a bit worn out and the interior seemed a bit dirty. We didn't make a booking, but were easily accommodated outside. The tables are a bit on top of each other and I felt like we were sharing our dinner with the guy next to us. However, the spot was perfect for admiring the view and doing some people watching.

I must commend them on their bread, which was absolutely delicious! Moist and fresh, a great way to start the evening. We ordered our food and it arrived literally within 10 minutes. Never have I had my food delivered to me so quickly! I had the prawn curry while my better half settled on one of their chicken dishes. The curry was delicious, not too spicy and with a generous helping of sauce. Probably a bit too much rice for my liking, but they give it to you in a separate bowl so that you can decide how much rice and how much curry you want for yourself. The chutney was also delicious - I used up the whole pot! My better half's chicken was quite underwhelming. The one side was undercooked, while the other was motherlessly burnt. The salad it came with was also very average. Definitely not worth the R170 it cost us.

Waiters are very monotone and it feels like they're trying to get as much turnover as possible while compromising on quality of food and service. Perfect place to enjoy cocktails and a beautiful view of Table Mountain, but I wouldn't come eat here again.
Cay Jay
Oyster was really fresh, the meat quality was good but only the service was really bad. First of all, the waiter mixed up our order and the steak was overly cooked which was annoying because we kept on sending it back and it kept coming back either too raw or too cooked. It was annoying. The service was just really bad and we actually witnessed people leaving before they were even served.

Service was attentive but the food was so disappointing... and on cheat day! We had a wikideal, and chose from a set menu. I had a spicy seafood salad which was good, while my husband had the lobster bisque which just tasted like a tomato soup. We both had the linefish topped with a Thermador crayfish tail. The fish was overcooked, dry and a bit bland and served with plain basmati rice, while the crayfish tail had about a spoonful of crayfish in it, but the thermidor sauce was ok. For dessert I chose the baked cheesecake, and wasn't told that they didn't have. When dessert was served they simply brought me a little piece of malva pudding and apologised about the cheesecake, but they never gave me another option. Hubby had the Lindt chocolate tart which was a small chocolate brownie... very average. All in all very average... pity for such a prime location and good looking place.

honestly a very underwhelming experience 💔💔💔 i went for breakfast there this morning but then wowow their choice selection wasn't thaaaattt amazing & the mushrooms were SOOO OILY☹️️ (were they deep fried??????💔) anyway, the freshly squeezed juice was nice. setting is a little pretty & the service is very attentive.

Went to seelan for Father's Day . The calamari starter and salad were great and the steak was nice but could have been better , a bit tough . The spatchcock chicken was very tasty . Nice views of the harbour in the waterfront and very snazzy decor .

What a yummy lunch on a very sunny summers day! Setting is sophisticated and quaint and the view is beautiful. We ordered a starter calamari, a chicken salad with mango and ended off with a baked cheesecake for dessert. Serious compliments to the chef, especially for the tastiest salad, so fresh on such a warm day in Cape Town.
✔ good portions
✔beautiful view
✔tasty food

✖ abit pricey
✖not a busy /bustling restaurant

Opted to try some fish and came across this restaurant. Looks beautifully decorated inside. We were seated knives and a fork short with no serviettes. They didn't have a children's menu but named 3 options also with no reference to pricing. I ordered the 250g fillet and shared with my mom who ordered the salmon with honey, ginger and soy sauce. Our waiter cautioned us that no sides come with the dishes and the vegetables on the plate were only a garnish!!!! Mmmm this all to have us order an additional seasonal vegetable side which usually is either mixed fried veg or butternut and spinach... No only one seasonal veg can be chosen. This place doesn't impress me at all and I feel like everything you get there you need to pay extra for after the mains are already super pricey!!! The service average and the bathrooms are disgusting! I would feel safer stopping at a filling station. I won't go back and sad to see such well positioned restaurant rely purely on view and not quality of food.

Had lunch at Seelan today. A very different vibe for the waterfront. I personally found it a bit too old fashioned. The food was good though I had lamb cutlets in a cape malay sauce and Sashen had the linefish of the day. I found the vegetables on the side though to be quite average and dry. The service was friendly, we had an efficient waiter.

Best experience! Good service..great food! Will go back anytime!! Good menu and quality of food. Maybe just have a seat away from the noisy sliding doors in the middle.

I have been wanting to try Seelan for quite a while now and when I finally got the chance to go, I was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. Our waiter described their signature dishes to us which made the choice easier. We had the mussle starter which was superb. We then had the kingklip tagliata and prawn curry for mains. Both dishes were tasty and very flavourful! We will definitely be going back to try their other dishes.

I have always wanted to try Seelan, and now that they're offering an Entertainer breakfast special, we decided to give it a go. Our waiter was very friendly and the food was good, but after browsing their lunch and dinner menu I'm keen to go back and try out what seems to be their speciality- seafood! Nice atmosphere and decor- will be back!

What a good find. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, they've all been served with eagerness to please. Quiet, practical decor and white table cloths. Really enjoyed the generous portions of fish and the view of the tourist-facing harbour activities at the water's edge. Can be recommended.

I was invited to try out Seelan again by the owner by means of a complimentary meal so on a cold Monday night my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try again. Our previous experience wasn't the greatest so I hoped that this time would be better.

We were welcomed and seated in possibly the worst seating in the outside covered area, next to a fan and some plugpoints and after 5 minutes here I asked of we could move indoors because it was too cramped and our bottle of wine couldn't fit on the table.

Inside was much better. I found the decor a bit confusing though. Modern and artsy with tv screens and sport... The music was also very loud at times and consisted of 90's and 00's rnb...

The food was good and my boyfriend really enjoyed his lamb cutlets. We weren't informed that they came with a very small side of vegetables on the plate though. I had the full portion of calamari which was delicious. Flavoured really well with spices and green chilli, it was different and delicious.

We were treated to a tasting dessert plate after dinner with fresh fruit. The chocolate brownie was good. The malva pudding was really not good at all, dry and sponge like with a custard that tasted as artificial and weird as the neon yellow it appeared to be.

The service was good and very attentive. Thanks for the complimentary meal and a much better experience.

Decided to try out Seelan on Friday and it was the best decision ever! Went for dinner with my sisters! The restaurant was not that busy, the food was amazing! From the kingklip, salmon, calamari and steak we all had! It was delicious and has the best frozen strawberry daiquiri ever 😊
Phoebe Kondylis
This was a great addition to the V and A. The focus is mainly on seafood so if you aren't really partial to sea food it's a bit tough. The chopped salad is really good and the kingklip tagliata is one of the best I've tasted. I also recommend attending one of their brunches which has amazing dishes popping out the kitchen

Decided to try Seelan out for the first time lastnight. Heard some good reviews about it so went in with high hopes and I wasn't disappointed.

Staff were polite and attentative at all times. The food was the highlight of course. I had the chicken risotto and my boyfriend had the steak fillet. Both were delicious.

One recommendation I would give is that if you're planning on trying this place out in the evening, I suggest you sit outside for a better ambiance. We were kept warm and cozy with heaters, blankets and warm lighting, whereas the inside had a colder feel which wasn't helped by the fluorescent lighting.

Overall though it was a good experience and I look forward to being back in future.
Joshua
Very average. Ordered a chicken dish and it tasted slightly fishy. I was in too much of a hurry to wait for a new dish to arrive so I stuck it through.
Waseem Dawood
i had a really awesome Kingklig tagliata here. it was flavourful and the fish was really well prepared. tiyaarah has the pasta which she enjoyed. it is a beautiful restaurant over looking the water, a good date restaurant.

Light dinner yesterday at Seelan. We stuck to the wine and the Salmon Capaccio, which was very good. Best thing about our eperience, though, was the superb service we received from our waiter (Anthony). Will go back to try the rest of the menu.

If this had a button for negative scoring I would score this negatively. I rate my dining experiences on quality of food as well as customer service. We were seated and all our waitress did was take our order for food. I ordered the seafood platter which is not cheap. I told her we would start with a bottle of water. Once we gave her our order she disappeared. Another runner had to serve us. I watched her be super attentive to every other table except ours. Did not ask if we needed more drinks, if the meals were ok or if we needed anything. In terms of the quality of the food- the platter was tasteless. Overpriced for food that was not worth it. It was disappointing as this restaurant was a recommendation. At least if the food tastes good- I could perhaps justify having to tolerate a bad experience. The prawns were rubbery and overcooked. The platter had mussels but I was not informed that this was missing. The crumbed calamari was not fully cooked. The line fish tasted like box hake.
I decided to bring the service to the attention of the manager who did not bother to come by and sent through another person who could not really care for the complaints. Speaks volumes for the attitude of the establishment.
Adrian Niall Maasch
Low wine stock, recycled chips (that seemed microwaved and "powdery"), had a folded napkin that was clearly used by someone before us. Maybe on another day it would have been better. For the mark-up they charge, really dissapointing.
DebR
Had such a bad experience, after being regular customers and usually enjoying it, certainly won't be back. From a very rude waitress with a bad attitude, to a tiny unappetizing dessert platter (which is usually very decent) and running out of the main one, to over salted chips, this was a meal we could've done without! And no owner nor manager around!

Very chilled vibe ,actually loved it .i loved my meal good steak very juicy and tasty.

My partner however was not impressed with his choice of meal ,veal .

I would definitely give Seelan's a 5 star rating! Perfect Location at the V&A Waterfront, with stunning views of Table Mountain. I was totally impressed with the layout and atmosphere that the Restuarant possessed. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. I was impressed with how my food was plated for me and the signature dishes. I ordered a calamari salad (which was not on the menu) and a prawn curry with rice. Both dishes were infused with Indian flavours from Durban and were absolutely tasty. A great way to blend together seafood and a bit of an the Indian cuisine! Definitely worth every cent!
Justine McEvoy
A fairly average dining experience. The waiter was friendly however didn't have much knowledge about the menu. The food was good but definitely not good enough to go back again any time soon!
Eben Daniels
We went there on Saturday evening. The waiters and hosts were extremely friendly.
I had 2 mojitos. They were very strong and very tasty.

I ordered the seafood salad. What a hit!
It had a curry sauce added to it that was delicious. The seafood was also very well prepared and the salad was crispy and tasty.

I'd definitely go back.

Simple menu with seafood specialities. Had the pleasure of trying out the chicken ravioli. Highly recommended. Good service also and being at the Waterfront, naturally it is a wonderful setting.

Delicious fresh form the ocean tapas, oysters & calamari. Carpaccio perfected! Lip smacking desserts. Gray selection of Cocktails and some original ones too
JC
After trying 3 other restaurants (and I'm using the term loosely) we ended up at Seelan. We were seated promptly and the waiter took our drinks order. Sorry.. No cocktails. Errrr....but the table next to us are having cocktails? Nevermind I'm hungry & tired of piss poor service and arguing with waiters. Ordered the bolognaise & chicken/mango salad. Oh wait, no bolognaise. Ok I'll have arribiata then. Waiter then brought bread to table. Asked for butter. Eventually got it in time to butter the last piece. Food arrived. Average as expected. Salad was bland. 3 slivers of chicken and 4 slivers of mango served with lettuce, carrots and cucumber. Pasta was ok but could do with more sauce. Didn't like waiters attitude. Won't be back. PS: Forgot to mention, waiter didn't know what Zapper was despite bill printed on Zapper branded paper & presented in Zapper folder, then proceeded to ask for tip in cash.
Elaine Lahoud
Situated on the waterfront, the restaurant has the perfect view of Table mountain and the wheel. The prices vary between pasta at about R100 or seafood or steak at about R160 excluding sides. To me the restaurant needs a good cleanup and some maintenance to be done, nothing major but no harm in a bit of tlc. Not one of my favourites.
Kylie
This restaurant looks like it belongs in Melville, the art on the walls is so different.
The menu has a lot to offer.. Italian, French and seafood. I could not find Greek dishes although it was mentioned on profile, besides the salad. So we started off with a muscle starter apparently "French Style" chilli, coconut milk and some other ingredients.. Um not my favorite.. It was unusual. This was served with salt less bread. The prawns were a little hard to get out of there shells and the rice was under cooked. The service was lovely but the restaurant was over priced and did not blow me away.
Johan Mocke
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of our line fish of the day. Relaxed atmosphere, nice views on the waterfront and Table Mountain. Expensive, but the quality makes up for it.

A Daddys deal was bought for this restaurant. We were informed on the deal that we need to make a booking. I emailed(as stated on the deal) I then phoned the day before to confirm booking(as stated on the deal) there was no booking made-so then made the booking again. On getting there, we were told the booking was not made.

After this, we told the waiter we had the deal- to our dismay they did not have the beef ribs(which was offered on the deal). We then chose the steaks- I ordered well done and my boyfriend ordered medium rare, he then received well done(they luckily rectified this issue). After this our waiter had disappeared, my steak was well done on the edges and medium well in the middle. I could not eat it and asked the random waiter if I could take it as take away and told him it was not well done- he said "yes he sees blood".

As my boyfriend was eating his chips- a different waiter/manager took his plate. He was not even done and I told the manager/waiter that I do not think he is finished. My boyfriend then said its fine he is full and it was taken away. On leaving we asked for the take away- the waiter had thrown it away. Never saw the original waiter again.

Seelan has been on my must try list for a while but my schedule only allowed me to visit lastnight, it wasn't as full as I thought it would be - considering that it was a Saturday night - my boyfriend and I decided to go on a date and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated outside which was really beautiful because we arrived as the sun was setting. We started with drinks and bread, no starters unfortunately but instead we headed straight for mains, I had the mezzenote pasta (I craved a pasta all week) and my boyfriend had the kingklip tagliata, the kingklip was beautiful and my pasta was good. The waiters were very attentive and it was a lovely experience overall. We'll definitely be returning.
Alexa Scola
The views from this restaurant are amazing - you get the waterfront as well as table mountain.

There was a very cool DJ playing some perfect tunes for a Saturday afternoon by the sea.

We had the prawn curry and the line fish of the day - food was good but no spectacular.
Marc Bernitz
This is classic Waterfront - great fish at an absurd price. I'm not a huge kingklip fan, but it was perfection - really quite mindblowing considering its simplicity. Steak was tender and tasty. Veggies were fresh and classic, but modern in that they weren't overdone or overseasoned. Service was a bit slow, which really isn't acceptable for the location and price. I don't eat shellfish but I considered it strongly after smelling it from other tables.

Overall, food was amazing but the price and service let it down. R610 for two people.

Absolutely impeachable dining experience. The food at Seelan is unbelievable and worth every cent. I will definitely go back and eat there.

Lovely place with a great view. Went there for a dinner date and we were very happy with the food. It was delicious!! The service was a little poor but they were very busy. Will go again :)

Nice place to be and either read a book or hang with friends. The environment is very nice and Sanjey is there to take care of costumers by being very mindful. Nice music keeps going on as background and I've to clap for the flowers arrangements selection! 👌 Attracts straight away and they turn the atmosphere into something beautiful! Asked if they can make me something to take away and they did it, ate after and the food was fresh and delicious! Totally recommend and I'll be back soon, hopefully.

@seelan sundoo
Simply Sublime!!!!
This encapsulates my Seelan Restaurant experience every time... Without exception!!!
From the moment I set foot into the restaurant, I am made to feel completely at home..
Best described as a true foodie experience par excellence!
The attention paid to my likes and preferences is faultless and I have never walked away being in a state no less, where my heart isn't smiling.
The quality of the ingredients combined with the precision, love and care with which the dishes are prepared is simply on another level!!!
Chef Seelan is far too underrated and should be way more celebrated for his sublime and incredibly superior culinary abilities, in my humble opinion.
I could wax lyrical about my myriad of Seelan Restaurant experiences.... And there are several!
Safe to say that you haven't lived until you've had a Seelan Restaurant dining experience!

Went to Seelan for the first time, I had the prawn curry...All I can say is WOW! It was a bit hot for my liking, but oh so flavourful! The presentation of my food was appetising, service was good, even the music was good! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant!

We used a wiki voucher and boy was it value for money.everything was delish.seafood was well seasoned and tasty.drinks pricey but average for this type of eatery.service was a bit on the slow side.all in all a pleasant 3 and a half hours...I think the music added alot to the atmosphere but at times was a tad loud.

Went to Seelan for the first time on my birthday this year. The waitress was lovely and helpful. I ordered the truffle mushroom pasta and my hubby got the prawn curry. Can we talk about the food envy I had!? Prawn curry was amazing. My pasta was nice but too rich for me and the portion was so huge I hardly made a dent in it. Think 2 people managed to eat from my leftovers! We also ordered the warm prawn bean salad as a starter and the prawns were beautifully cooked. Will definitely order the seafood again the next time around. Surprisingly didn't take any pics! 😫

Went for supper using the 3 course wikideal. For starters we ordered the oyster thermidor and a bisque. We were brought fresh oysters. Called the waiter, and told him we ordered thermidor, and he looks at the plate and shrugs his shoulders, as if what is the problem - not knowing what thermidor is. Had to then wait another 15 minutes for the worst thermidor i've ever experienced. Bisque was terrible - tasteless. Mains was a selection of seafood - once again, very little flavour. Lobster and prawns were overcooked and soft. Desserts were ok, nothing to write home about. I would never return to this restaurant paying full price. Terribly average, and a failed attempt at upmarket.

Greeted with a smile, but heard the chef upset with people not booking. General good feel about the place. Nice set up. Ok, homely breakfast.
Nick Badminton
The Food was good but the lavatory smell from the waterfront was so bad that it ruined the evening. The owner had gone home. I had a piece of plastic in my lamb curry which they apologized for.
Claire Sharwood
Wasn't blown away with the food. Had the main portion of mussels, which came with a nice garlic, wine & parsley bisque but I left the restaurant still feeling quite hungry! But the service was very attentive.
Phillip Black
Used my voucher I won at the Taste of Cape Town. Thanks Zomato :). We had dinner somewhere else so only had room for dessert. What a dessert it was! We had the platter which was amazing. Worth every penny of the R120.00, considering one dessert is R90. Great friendly staff. Great venue however I feel it is more suited for summer. They do have heaters though to keep you warm if you can't wait. My wife and I really enjoyed it.
Andrea Lauren Kraak
What a warm welcome to Seelan ! The hostess was lovely :) We decided on butternut soup as a starter, which came with home made bread. The soup on its own is filling and very delicious. I always need bread with my soup but not at Seelan. Reminded me of grandma's soup on a cold day. The sirloin I asked to be medium as I am not a lover of rare steak. Unfortunately they gave me a steak so rare the blood was swirling around my plate. Still very delicious and juicy, the sight of all that blood just wasn't great. The waiter was a star. Josh. Made us feel at home. He asked if we wanted our steak, we asked for five minutes just to breathe after the soup. I was still undecided about which side order I wanted when Josh brought the steaks out. It was a bit disappointing but it didn't make his service any less great. We also opted for virgin cocktails which they had no problem whipping up. Overall, really enjoyed myself here, with a view of the harbour at night.

Decided to visit again. And the service was so terrible it actually spoilt lunch. But nontheless the food did not disappoint. The beef short rib is nothing short if amazing. It practically fell off the bone. Will not be back here though, twice was enough.

Lovely resturant with an ambient environment & great food. Don't mic out on their brunch festivities on the last Saturday of each month; from live music to fashion shows. Visited them 4 the first tym on my birthday & I ws totally blown away 💜💙❤💛💚

After a movie wife and I decided to goto V&A for dinner. We had to decide between Seelan and Mindiall and decided to go with Seelan this time. They made wife a virgin berry mojito and I had a tequila sunrise. Both were good and the tequila sunrise had quite a kick. Wife ordered the salmon with side veggies and I had the 500g prime rib with veg.

I am not a veg fan but I really did enjoy the crispy delicious veg. The salmon and steak were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious.

The service from Ross was excellent.
Henriette
Exceptional food - veal was sumptuous, bouillabaisse unbelievable! Great service - thanks Ash. Seelan's personal attention was a nice touch. We'll be back!

Food wasn't bad overall, we had the burger and pastas but the pasta vongole was very bland. Our waiter was a bit drunk when we arrived and after we got our food he disappeared and it was like we were invisible. No one checked on us for about an hour after we ate. When we finally flagged someone down we found out our waiter was sent home. The manager should have told us and at least asked another waiter to check in on us. We also had to wait for ages for the card machine to pay. All in all disappointing and embarrassing as we were hosting friends from out of town.
Ludi Cronje
Nice comfortable atmosphere. Food was tasty but my lamb portion was tiny as a main meal. Spice in the prawn curry over powered the dish. Biggest disappointment was the waiter who made the evening unpleasant, focusing on the tourists and only really thinking about his tip. Rude and over confident.
Anamika Karamchand
Brilliant service, the food was amazing and the kitchen were very open to changes that I requested be made to my dish. It's beautifully situated and makes for a perfect lunch or supper venue.
Shad Lee
Service was top class. They were out of a few fish dishes but recommended suitable replacements. I had the seafood salad which was quite a disjointed dish, a.mild curried seafood mix with some salad greens. I had the baby kingklip which was satisfactory.
Aldo Van Aarde
Great coffee, awesome lounge music & a classy setting at the harbour's edge...mix it in with friendly staff & good food makes it great food experience.

Seelan Restaurant & Bar is inspired by Italian, Mediterranean and French inspired dishes. The décor is elegant, fresh and chic with crisp white table linen, fresh flowers and candles throughout. The outside area overlooks the harbour with views of Table Mountain in the background. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The food is delicious. The attention to detail and service is top class. It is the kind of place you want to spend hours sipping on crisp white wine, tucking into amazing food and just enjoying the views and buzz all around you.

We had the most delicious and leisurely lunch one chilly Saturday afternoon and were completely blown away by everything. Although it was a cold and miserable day, we wanted to sit outside so that we could take in the views. The area is sheltered from the elements on cold days and kept very cosy which we loved. Our menu was kept a surprise with the experts choosing the very best dishes for us to try and they just kept them coming. We had Italian Salad, Seafood Bouillabaisse, Kingklip Tagliata, Sirloin Tagliata and Tiramisu. Every mouthful was packed with fresh ingredients and full of flavour. Seelan is an incredible spot for long relaxing meals spent with family and friends. We drank wine and beer, we ate the most tasty and pretty food we have seen and we completely lost track of time… and then we rolled home feeling happy and full :)
Suitcases And Lattes
I'm leaving Seelan's feeling rather disappointed. The waiter was quite good and attentive but the wait for the food was extremely long. The prawn curry was spicy but lacked taste. And the prawns were really small. The kingklip was great though, although I did find quite a few tiny bones.

Two nights ago we were treated to an evening full of wonderful food at Seelan at the V&A Waterfront. The restaurant has a beautiful view looking across the Waterfront to the mountain. We were greeted with delicious (albeit strong) cocktails - strawberry mojitos to be precise. We then launched into the menu, which gave us a taste of many Seelan dishes.

The starters were salmon carpaccio accompanied by a large green salad and fish soup. It was more like seafood soup as there were prawns, calamari and fish in there and the flavour and consistency was great. It wasn’t too rich (as we find some seafood soups can be) but rather let the seafood flavours stand out. This was a definite favourite for us.

For mains we started with rotisserie chicken and barbecue duck. The duck was well cooked and the seasoning was tasty yet didn’t overpower the flavour of the meat.

Two curries the followed, lamb and prawn. The lamb was incredible and less spicy than the prawn one.

The last of the mains were two tagliata dishes. I had to check the ‘interwebs’ but Tagliata means cut in Italian and is usually a sliced beef dish that is served in a variety of ways. We were served a sirloin and kingklip tagliata - the latter being our favourite dish of the evening. The Kingklip was perfectly cooked, maintaining its delicate flavour and the sundried tomato and spring onions complemented the fish fantastically.

Dessert was in our opinion the lowest point of the menu. We do have quite high standards, due to Jane being a pastry chef but it wasn’t the most appetising selection. The gluten free chocolate torte/cake and the tiramisu lacked flavour (maybe needs more cocoa/coffee and a better consistency). We just felt that the standard set by the starters and mains was not maintained in the desserts.

We would definitely go back there for their seafood and meat as it really was delicious and the service and staff were efficient and welcoming. Thanks Seelan!

Last night we were treated to a gorgeous evening at Seelan, which began with one of the strongest (and tastiest mojitos) I've ever had. To start, we nibbled on a really fresh salad and salmon carpaccio, but the standout starter for me was the fish soup. Now, that's not something I would EVER order off a menu, but it was so good that I'm literally trying to think of ways to convince the chef to send me a bulk weekly order... It was light, yet seriously tasty and the fish and calamari just melted in the mouth. SO GOOD.

For mains, we had various servings of spicy rotisserie chicken, duck barbecue, lamb curry, prawn curry and - the absolute best thing ever - a kingklip tagliata that slightly changed my life. It was out of this world. Dessert was a pretty platter of fruit and bakes, and I preferred the light banoffee cake over the brownie. Finally, the night ended with grappa and espresso.

Go to Seelan for the view and the seafood, make sure to get some fish soup in you, and definitely order their house red - it's fantastic!

Honestly, can't sing their praises loud enough (and I can't even sing). We were treated to everything from the fish soup, to the delightful desserts. I always say that the strength of a "seafood" restaurant, is their non-seafood choices. We were lucky enough to try the sirloin and the lamb curry- which would both have held their own in any meat oriented restaurant. We were also treated to the duck and the hxicken options, and we were not disappointed. But to be honest, the seafood was the star of the evening. The kingclip was exceptional, as was the salmon carpaccio. For me though, the star of the evening was the fish soup. I am not a person to order soup off a menu, ever, but I am currently trying to work out a schedule that is socially appropriate in terms of how many fish soup orders one person can order. Outstanding food, outstanding service and an absolute pearler of a location. I can't recommend it highly enough!
Nicky
Had the best seafood platter I have ever had! The service was excellent. Beautiful view to end off a great weekend. Will definately be back.

Can i start off by saying i had good expectations of this place. My boyfriend and I made a booking for breakfast, which they accepted for 9am, which when we arrived found out they only opened at 9.30am... so we had to wait for them to set up. We got asked to sit at a more inside table as the outside ones "were booked" (later which we saw being offered as options to foreign customers). One particular waiter was arrogant and loud, from previous reviews I know exactly who was being referred to. He has a different, dismissive attitude if he finds out you're local. The breakfast was good at least... although I wad told they had to go buy brown bread because they didn't have any, (ok?) which was the cause of the delay. Overall disappointing... I expect more for the great location.
