Review Mitchell's Scottish Ale House - Cape Town Central

Kevin Jordan
Just came for a beer & wine while burning times before flight home but there was the special ; 1/2 dozen fresh shucked oysters & 1/2 liters of Hog’s Head Lager for 119SR ($6.25 US). It’s a great place to relay in the shade and people with. It’s on a corner with lots of traffic. Pub next door has live music, this place offers all the enjoyment without the volume😳😎

Quaint and Scottish themed pub. A venue where you can gather with friends or family for casual drinks, live music and sports matches. After a long or stressful day at work ,it is an upbeat and energetic space to end to your working week. The menu is modern and accommodates most diets. The food is exceptionally delicious and of good portions. The staff are on the ball, matching the energy within the space.

If you are a lover of whisky and want to do a tasting, you can give Mitchell's Scottish Ale House, located at the V&A Waterfront, a visit. They have a couple of routes you can choose from which groups whiskies from different distilleries together. Some of our group went for the Islay Malts route and others decided to go for the Highland Malts route. I decided on the Islay Malts, as I love peated and smoky whiskies, and I really enjoyed it. The whisky portions were good, and I loved how they gave you some olives with the tasting. There are some things that they can improve on regarding the tasting though. The first thing I noticed was that the whiskies weren't presented in the order they necessarily needed to be tasted in, and instead were just given to us in the order in which they were poured. This definitely has an impact on the tasting, as for example when you taste the Islay Malts, some of them are more smokey than others, so it is better to taste the more smokey ones at the end rather than the beginning. The other thing was that our waitress had no knowledge of the whiskies she was presenting us, and just put a booklet down with information. If they can upskill some of the waiters to handle these tastings, it could tremendously add to the experience. Overall, for those wanting to taste some new and different whiskies, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I love this Scottish place for good drinks and some ale and guiness. The food features a few traditional Irish options and home made pot pies etc.

Surprisingly good food for a pub atmosphere. We tried the seafood, burger and asic chicken wings. The staff were accommodating of special requests, polite and the overall experience was excellent. Recommend for food, drink and general atmosphere!
Nicola Williams
Wonderful pub atmosphere, with genuinely the nicest burgers I've had in a long time. Very tasty and not drowning in sauce. My only gripe, no Guinness on tap, although advertised as such. Opted for cans. All in all, pub grub as it should be done.

Had an awesome time came to watch the rugby SA verses France

Fun little pub in V&A Waterfront. We visited on a weekend night and there was live music and a good atmosphere filled with people singing and dancing. Pricing was very reasonable and service was quick. They have an upstairs portion as well if you have a group that wants to escape the loud music in the bottom floor. They also have a large outdoor space with seats if the weather is nice

Very nice pizza and burgers ( trio sliders). The atmosphere especially inside is not to my like the restrooms are close to the dining area allowing the unpleasant smell come through rather sit outside, either than they have amazing food and service
Loupie Nieuwoudt
Definitely recommend. Very friendly service and the food was amazing. The second time round not so much, but still enjoyed it alot. Had the sliders special, well priced! Nice place for just a beer as well. Or as you can see, a few.

Great food options, friendly service, cold beer and sports on TV. Indoor & outdoor seating options and live music from the bar next door. Great atmosphere 👌

Came in for breakfast but everything on the menu looked so good. We got the steak roll and the fiery lass burger. The steak had an amazing chilli sauce (I'm assuming this was because we asked for chilli sauce) and was so tender and tasty. The burger was simply beautiful, the meat was perfectly cooked (medium) and delicious and the toppings complimented perfectly. The hogs head beer also tasted great. I have to say we would have paid more for these same meals in Durban without the same quality. Will definitely return if we have a chance.

Great place to be if you're a sports fanatic. Open and great siting plans to accommodate crowds. Great specials, good food, and an awesome bar. I'd love to visit again.

Mitchell’s is a really great pub in the waterfront with amazing service and great pizza. Their beer is also highly recommended.
Scheritha Friedrichs
Mitchell’s is always buzzing. It’s a great spot to meet up with some friends and have a beer after work. It’s also a great spot to have a beer if you’ve been dragged along on a shopping spree. Skip the line and grab some wine.

People here in South Africa take their food quite seriously and it didn’t surprise me one bit for when I ordered their signature LAMB SHANKS with dark Afrikaans Ale.... it was a complete meal for me as I didn’t wanna eat anything for next few hours and also the staff, my host Sylvia was an amazing soul I met while I gulped down that sumptuous meal.....

If you want a true foodgasm experience!!! 2 Words!

MEXICAN BURGER!

I don’t think I’ve ever had such an amazing experience with a burger. Truly fell in love!

When I’m back in Cape Town, this will be my #1 option for food! I kid you not... it’s amazing!

Service can be a bit better, but nothing to complain about!

Don’t walk past Mitchell’s! Go and order that burger!!!
Gabriel Jonker
Dropped in to try out their craft beers, honey beer was a good one. Fish was amazing would have preferred hand cut chips nothing beats a real fish and chips. Pizza was good...

Excellent Food, Great Service and Awesome Vibes! Our happy place when in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront and will definitely be back soon! See you in October
Direshan Pillay
A relaxed bar style venue with okish burgers. The outside seating is nice in the evenings while listening to the band play. Good place for some drinks on a Saturday evening.
O-Mizu Satori
Good beer, quite vibey, but also quite expensive. Yes yes it's at the V&A, but it's not some fancy restaurant. Nice place non the less to go for a couple of pints.
Steven Loedolff
Very bad service. Waited very long before being attended too. Waited even longer before drinks were served and then the waiters dissappeared for a long time again. Repeatedly requested service to no avail.
Riana Van Wyk
So I usually love this place. But luck was not on my side tonight. I had a rib galore pizza but the rib on the pizza was off and also smelled and tasted terrible. I did get a refund but not one apology and the waiters was not friendly afther my complaint . He wouldn't speak to us. Sad ... won't see you again
Lucian
The group decided to choose Mitchell’s as the destination for lunch. Welcome was good and we were shown to a table upstairs. The orders varied from burgers to fish&chips to steak&chips. Nonetheless, food was warm, tasty and good! Thank you Mitchell’s!
Jessica Zef
Good service from the waiter. The pizza was good and my friend said he enjoyed their prego steak roll. Their potions are quite big. Great atmosphere and talented singer.
Samukeliso Eneya
This is a really beautiful place to hangout with friends , my only problem is that smoking is allowed inside the bar which is very inconvenient especially in winter . And most of the times I leave the place smelling like a cigarette factory.other than that the service is great and they know their regular customers and that for me is good service .
Chris Rafael
Granted it is my own fault for coming to a pub even though I don’t like drinking beer or sports and Mitchell’s is basically the spot for that. I have been pleasantly surprised by the food quality of some pubs I’ve have been to and some of them are actually so good it boarders fine dining. I had a burger and it was nothing exceptional but then again I think the shops are paying premium for that tourist market that things slide a bit when costing comes into it. When there live music I guess it’s something to do while you wait for a buddy.
Anastacia Candice Julie
Popped into Mitchell's for a drink while waiting for my partner, and upon entering was pleasantly happy with the interaction, until I ended up sitting at the table waiting 30 minutes for the menu.

I was about to walk out when he walked in. Needless to say I was pretty annoyed. Almost immediately someone came over and offered us the menu.

I wasn't in the mood to stay much longer but ended up ordering a cosmopolitan which tasted like coolaid.

Overall, super disappointing especially since my partner frequents Mitchell's at least once a week. I'm not impressed with the service or quality of their cocktails.

The vibe is wonderful and exceptionally fun and especially great when the sun is out. Maybe, I popped in on a bad day, but I am not keen to revisit, and should I revisit, I sincerely hope it will be more of a positive experience.
Jaryd Kay
The chicken wings were awesome. The poppers were great too albeit a bit too spicy(And overpriced). We had steaks, the rump was pretty good and had a tasty basting. The chips were great too - fresh and well seasoned. The sirloin was terribly fatty and inedible - they didn't charge us for it. Chilled Friday night drinks and dinner - good vibe. Must be mentioned that they got the order wrong initially but were accommodating and didn't charge us for their mistakes.
Irina
Very great pub with amazing staff! The atmosphere is lovely and cosy! Their food is cooked to perfection! Great burgers, and best place to grab a couple of pub bite- would highly recommend their chicken schnitzel and chips for a cold day, or some calamari on a hot day with a cold draft!

A sports bar in South Africa that doesn't show Local football games

This weekend, 27th May 2017, is the day of the FA cup final and i'm keen to enjoy this games which starts at 17:00 with my colleagues who invited me to watch the game at Mitchells. This day also happens to be the last game day for the PSL and as an Orlando Pirates support i was hoping to catch both games as the Pirates league game kicks off at 15:00. The staff at Mitchells confirmed when i called on the 26th of May 2017 at 15:35 that they do not show local football games at all. I enquired if an arrangement could be made to show the game if I made a reservation, as I was expecting 10+ friends and colleagues (all employed at the Waterfront - so the location is central and convenient)., and the answwer once again was that they do not show local football games.

A sports bar in Cape Town which is in SA last I checked. Orlando Pirates is one of the biggest teams we have in our country, and this game isnt being shown, nor is any other local game, on the last game day of the season. The 15:00 Pirates game does not clash with any other football games. I'm very disappointed to say the least. This deserves a "no star" rating.
Twigz
Myself and some friends went to watch a game of football and ended up grabbing supper.

I had the I'll Be Bac burger which was absolutely delicious.

The service is incredible. Food leaves the kitchen quickly, waiters regulatory check on you and your drink orders arrive timeously.

The setting is very warm and comfortable while the venue is set up beautifully.
Steven Edwards
Good pub food but the service was really slow. We were one of two tables inside bit it took over 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and the ice didn't arrive. It's got a lot of potential for rugby watching but we were disappointed overall.
Barend Jakobus Van Wyk
Burgers and beer... lovely sunny day with a range of beers you cant imagine! Boys and the rugby... this place is good times... and good times only!
Paidamwoyo Masuku
Terrible service, the waiter was scruffy and took our order in 8 parts so everyone got their food and drinks at different times. The food was mediocre, and drinks came after we were done with our meal. I won't be wasting another rand there.
Rigard & Jeanine
Nice beers and an enjoyable setting. Good service too. A wide selection of average dishes, all unfortunately typically smothered in French fries. Specials worthwhile to consider. But in the end, what would a trip to the V&A be without an ale at Mitchell's?
Liza Duckitt
Had a pizza here today which was horrible.. oily, not a lot of toppings, no avo available, pizza crust wet.. not great. I've had a better pizza here last year during rugby and that one was great so I compared this one to it as I expected it to be awesome, but it really wasn't. Was quite disappointed as it was my idea to go there in the first place and I convinced everyone else. Very disappointed.
Claire Victoria Henderson
I have never eaten at Mitchell's so I cannot comment on their food - although it always looks damn nice - however I think this is the perfect spot for those looking to sit in the sun with their favourite people and enjoy a drink or three. Amazing cocktails, the beer is always ice cold and it's always full of people (both locals and travellers) making it vibey and giving it a buzzing atmosphere.

Mitchells is the kind of place where the outdoor area greets you with a vibrant yet relaxed ambience. The kind of place where you get together with a group of friends for a beer or two and some hearty pub grub. Large flat screens make it the perfect spot for sport fans and live music for fun karaoke nights.

They have a great selection of beers on tap including their very own craft beer such as Milk & Honey, Old Wobbly - only but to name a few.

Wide selection of food items on the menu such as burgers and pizzas to seafood and pub meals. All delicious and flavoursome and generous in size.

A great place where you can enjoy the upbeat vibes of the Waterfront combined with gorgeous views of Table Mountain. A place where you can relax and recharge and watch the world go by.
Kevin Purves
Awesome spot for a couple of pints with mates; but definitely not for a romantic evening with your significant other. Plenty of pub-style atmosphere; very boistrous, loud and friendly. The food is pretty typical pub-grub. It's nothing special, but complements the cold fresh lagers very well:)
Jeff Fernandes
Met up with some buddies post rugby sevens at the Cape Town Stadium . This place was so busy . The food was good , we ordered some pizzas to share and the vibe was fantastic especially considering the rugby that same day . Well old inside , it has a traditional pub feel which i really like . the waiters work hard and seem organised especially with the overcrowded atmosphere .Will Definitely be back to let the good times roll .
Glen Hunt
Pub with so many memories... Or lack there of due to amount of froffies I've consumed there.

Everything I expect from a pub. Standard pub food and standard service.

We've been here many a time to watch rugby, cricket or the national tidily-winks competition.

Great to go upstairs with a massive screen. Good to sit outside and breath the 2nd hand smoke.

I like the beer rockets where a good mate and I shared one once.

Go for the beer, stay for the laughs.
Ulisha Moodley
Usually visit Mitchell's for the soccer games. The vibe is cool and so is their food. Their pizza's and nachos are my favourite. Today we had our usual chicken tikka pizza which was delicious as usual. The service is a little slow but other than that a great spot.
Barbara Ann Hall
Traditional pub at the Waterfront and a great casual 'hang out'. Meet your friends here for typical pub fare, and a good few ales! Casual, laid back and comfortable, you don't need to stand on ceremony at this one😉
Elzalee De Beer
Very Vibey ALL THE TIME. this place is always packed, and I cannot fault them on anything. We have had something to eat here, which was also perfectly done. I prefer to rather only go for drinks as it is an awesome hangout spot for after work drinks with friends!
Nel
Jugs! Literal jugs, are the best I have had in the waterfront and surrounding areas. Good place to grab a drink if you're in the waterfront and you don't want to end up traveling into the CBD to grab a drink. This pub has the typical dark wood and high bar chairs and the music is generally good depending on the night. Rather sit outside if you're not partial to smoke because by the bar area there is a lot of smoke from the surrounding smokers and the ventilation is not good enough to remove it from the room.
Juanita Rene Stears
I have not eaten anything here, so my review will be on my experience. It's a bit expensive! Prices aren't really for us, catering more for tourists, but then again, they are in the waterfront and nothing at the water is cheap! Great spot to chill with friends and have a beer, great for summed days outside! The table next too us was having food and it smellt delicious, Made us so hungry, but we were off to another spot to eat! Next time we will have something to eat!
Wez_Undercover
This is a great place for a cold beer, tasty pizza and to enjoy the waterfront. The service is consistent, even though it can get really busy. I like their Milk and honey beer and the South African pizza is a must. If you are going to go watch a game there, go early.
Lindie White
Like its neighbour, this watering hole knows how to entertain the thirsty masses: alcohol, burgers and big screen TVs. We've watched many a game over baskets of fried chicken strips upstairs (smoking is allowed downstairs inside and out). Plain and satisfying.
Dorea
Pub grub....nice atmosphere good service...especially the honey and milk beer is device. ..........................................

..
Nevlin Manicum
Idyllic atmosphere offering a decent selection of bites and bar style food. Sporting relatively good views of the V&A Waterfront, this spot is an adequate starting point for an afternoon sundowner. The drinks selection is vast and prices are more than reasonable. Service was a bit slow but this is warranted given the crowd. Overall a decent experience.
Martie Vosloo
What a night it was. Had their seafood basket (amazing) and live entertainment from a cape town local, with people dancing and singing along. Definitely a place worth visiting
Emma Bowen
Such a great experience at Mitchell's! The food was amazing and the waiter was super friendly! Only thing that would make it even better is if there was an inside space to sit for non - smoking people but other than that I'd highly recommend!
Elzette Zetta Barnard
Had a night out with friends and decided to give Mitchell's a try. Some beers are a bit pricey but food was good and vibe was great. Foccacia and Nachos is a winner ... Got oppertunity to try some new beers ...
Zoe Lansdell
This is a proper dive of a pub. It's always packed (most likely because it's one of the only places at the V&A that is affordable for the average joe, and has an outside and inside smoking section. The waiters are efficient and the food is pretty good for pub grub... I have to say, their pizzas are delicious - the base is so thin - i love that.

I've been here quite a few times and I haven't been disappointed. You can't expect fine dining here. It's pub grub and beers and an average wine selection.. But it's a fun vibe!
Jana Lorraine Pretorius
Ah, Mitchell's... What happened? This used to be one of my go-to spots for weekend nachos and cocktails. Unfortunately, the standard of both the food and service had deteriorated drastically. I have now had three disappointing experiences here. Each time, it was almost impossible to get the attention of the waiters (who treated us more like a nuisance than a customer), the food and drinks took an unjustifiably long time to arrive, and when it did, it was flavourless and cold. On top of that, the prices are much higher than they should be, especially considering the quality. I hope that this can be addressed, as Mitchell's has a good, long-standing reputation in Cape Town, and it would be a pity to see it go to waste.
Anashya Jugmohan
Lots of fun. Don't go if you're all prim and snooty. Great beers, ales, wines, cocktails (you get the picture) and perfect pub grub to go with all that alcy. Staff are playful and laid back and the atmosphere is great. Even tried the suicide burger! A must for a memorable night out. :)
Tiago Simões
U r a nachos and mojito lover? This is the place to go! I can't miss it. Mojito Jar and Nachos Plain. Good service and good beer...try the degustation of beers.
Jess Styles
Mitchells has the coolest Saturday summer afternoon vibe. I love going their to sit outside with a drink and some great fish and chips and just watch the world go by. It sometimes feels like you aren't even in Cape Town with all the tourists passing by! Pizza and fish and chips are both always winners!
Anna Dahl
we had a great fun night @ Mitchell's with friends during the week singing Karaoke. they have a great vibe, decent menu and top notch service. Besides watching a rugby game here can be fun!
Sarita Kerber
Came here to watch the rugby and yay they beat USA. They place was packed and the vibe was awesome however the food was not good. And waited very long for every round of our beers. But I will let the slow service slide since the place was very full.
Illona Rogers
Fantastic spot to hang with friends after a busy day at work. They have a great selection of beers and the vibe is buzzing. This place is always packed so be prepared to spend lots of time with friends
Georgette Brook
While in Cape Town we were looking for a place to watch some football and this place is perfec! They have an upstairs with a big screen for everyone to watch and they have amazing food and cocktails as well! A definite win .
LeMarc Gouws
This to me is solely a great place to experience a vast amount of different kinds of beers from all over the world. Of you would like to try new things and have a great evening or even the quick drinks on the way out, then this is your place to be. Always busy, and loud music, fun company and situated at the big wheel.
Martin Slabber
Suicide burger.....best burger by far.10min challenge to finish all....it so big and juicy. Would recomend everyone to try this burger. Its insanly big.best burger of all ti
Liezl
Pretty average. I wasn't overly impressed with their cocktails, or their food. Dessert was dry.
If you're out of options, Mitchells will suffice.
It also serves as the 'unofficial' Chelsea supporters club...people should know this before going there
Melanie Kanasashi
Love Mitchell's,
Really good venue for big groups as it's a cool socialising place,
Variety of cocktails and beer is good if you're into beer,
Wood fire pizza's are really amazing very light and tasty, love the baskets as well chicken and calamari is made perfectly

I will keep going back, I regularly go and I am never dissatisfied
Jonathan Garisch
I usually just come to Mitchell's for the occasional drink, and I should have left it that way. Don't get me wrong its a great place to have a beer with mates and watch sport, but don't expect anything fancy from their kitchen. I'm a still a bit baffled that they can get away with serving such mediocrity in the vicinity of the V&A Waterfront.
Bebz H
The beer is awesome. If you love beer then you must try the Milk and Honey beer and the Old Wobbly. Both are really good. The wood fire pizzas are nice too. Venue: It can get very full and very busy - but if you enjoy beer it's worth a visit (particularly for the Milk and Honey beer). It's a must have at Mitchell's!
Jacquelise
Best spot for a beer when at the V&A Waterfront. The service isn't fantastic, but the vibe is awesome. There was live music on the night I was there - which adds to the awesome vibe.
George Hattingh
Have to give them a high rating as I beat their challenge. 10 minutes for the burger and fries in the picture. Great burger. Good Guinness. :)
Tafel Vir Twee
This truly is a fun restaurant in a great location. From day to nights, Mitchell's has consistently good pizza (try the South African!) and generally good service. They get busy at night and can turn a bit rowdy, but that can also be fun, if you are in the mood! The outdoor seating is my favourite and they have hat lamps in the winter. Oh and did I mention the great range of Mitchell's craft beers? The Milk & Honey is my favourite. This is a great lace to grab a bite while you explore the waterfront. Definitely recommended.
MelbourneLops
Fab pub at the V & A! We have always enjoyed ourselves and the food here - actually, we had one of our best pizzas at Mitchells (what a pleasant surprise). Affordable prices, good service and comfortable atmosphere.
Mathew West-Russell
Mitchell's had a great bar/pub vibe. A must-go for a big sporting event. The food was delicious and their thin based pizzas come highly recommended. Huge selection of beers on tap and craft beers.
Martin Evans
Not a fan at all.Used to have what seemed to be the largest collection of beers in Cape Town. Now it just feels tired and dirty.

I am regularly in the Waterfront. I will not take certain people there. Whether its being hit on by prostitutes (IN THE COMPANY OF MY DAD FOR CHRISSAKES) or just tourists on the piss. I think there are much better places out there for a pint and a snackie.....Considering how the craft beer market has exploded in SA. This place has missed the mark and a big new market. A shame really.
Nicky
Mitchell's is a great place to meet up with friends and have a catch up and that's exactly what I did 😊 the vibe here is awesome and it instantly makes you feel happy! The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. We had finger food baskets to share which were delicious and always go down well with a few drinks. There is also a live band / DJ playing some good songs / tracks 🎶
Zanel
Nice spot to watch a game, especially upstairs. I had the calamari and chicken basket and added the jalapeno poppers to share with the bf. We can't resist those! He had the nachos which were huge and perfectly cheesy. My calamari was tender and the chicken strips crispy, so all in all it was a pleasant evening.
Sebastian
My favourite place in Cape Town to go watch any footie game. Drinks are great and food is really good as well. Such variety, but the pizzas are always good. Can have a great Saturday afternoon there with plenty beers ;)
Megan Bellinger
Very cool vibe..we sat upstairs, and it was a new experience since I've only ever sat outside downstairs. Very welcoming and 'pubby' but not dingy. There are lots of tv's, a sporting heaven and good atmosphere. I had the Hunters on tap, which is rare to come by, and a Mexican burger which was ok, decent enough. Definitely will visit again
Justin Dry
We were a table of four on a busy Easter Friday with 2 oceans marathon and thousands of tourists heading to the famed brewery, we were able to find a table near the main entrance. The service was slow but we were understanding of the circumstances. We had four light meals consisting of a fantastic peri peri chicken livers which is something I would go back for... My wife had a basket which she compared to a local pub and said it was acceptable, and my friends shared a pizza which the were disappointed with. The pizza did not taste like a wood fire pizza but rather a normal gas oven pizza and could have been saucier. Also we were confronted with a strange smell that lingered in the air. Overall it was a plain and simple average experience with a stinky smell.
Marnus Breed
Very nice. The pizza is delicious, the beer is fantastic and the atmosphere is brilliant. I would highly recommend the beer tasting, with the honey lager being my favourite. I'm not big on malls, but whenever I visit the Waterfront I make sure to pop into Mitchells while those more disposed to retail therapy can wander the hallowed halls of the V&A. Also, the Springbok museum is just across the road and the aquarium just around the bend.
Carlétjie Van Eck
I love this little pub - the service has always been fair and the pizzas and cocktails are very good!! Nice place to pop in for a drink or spend an afternoon with friends.
Juandra Boshoff
Love mitchells! The vibe, the beer, for a party or for a quick beer and basket. Pizza's are good if u want a meal!
Luh_Zar
What a lovely restaurant/pub with a magnificent vibe. The Ambience is phenomenal. I had the cape malay lamb dish which blew me away. I love tgeir Craft beer selcetion. Really really good and its on tap not bottled. I mean there is bottled as well. Not happy with the service i recieved though. So i came in ask the waiter Mandy, if they have craft beer and she shows me whats available. When i sit down she says its R50 a draft though is this okay? What does that even mean? Is it because i am black? Well that was not nice hey. But avgreay place to go none the less. Try it out....
Jessica
Great place to go for a craft beer on tap. The atmosphere isn't my taste but it's very cool to grab a beer with mates. The pizzas are really yummy too. I would come back for drinks and a snack for sure. The jam jar for 2 was delicious.
Innes Du Preez
The beer is delicious, love to milk and honey. The old wobbly is also great! The pizza is really delicious and service great. Definitely worth a try if you're in the mood for a good pub!
Andrea Lauren Kraak
Great place for summer chilling or even those nights just to watch the soccer. The atmosphere is good for if you go with a large group of people, iv had many get togethers here and it made for some really amazing nights out. Meals are big and tasteful and there's beer, lots and lots of beer :)
Rahul Malhotra
I would start with saying that the place is one of the most well-known pubs in Cape Town. Located on the V&A waterfront it not only offers a great selection of drinks but great ambiance as well. One can sit either inside or outside in the open. Siting outside is more preferable as the whole feel of the place reminds you of those outdoor small eating joints of Europe.

The food menu is apt with the overall feel of the place which offers a wide variety finger food. The place is not pricy at all. Average cost for two include drinks comes to around 250 ZAR.
All in all if you want to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon with couple of drinks without spending a lot, then this place is the perfect one.
Vivek Rajagopal
Had a great time at mitchell's ... great staff !! Will be back !!! Cheers!!
Amy Abrahams
One of my fav hangouts to catch up with friends
Ashleigh Morgan Henning
Nice environment where one can go watch sport with a few friends. Fun vibe with a large drinks and food menu to offer the customer. Service was good and speedy. Friendly staff. Nice layout of the whole place that included a garden area, patio seating as well as inside seating. Great find.
Tracy Poulter
Spent quite a bit of time here during the 2010 Soccer World cup as there was no better place to be at that stage but the Waterfront but been here a couple of time since.

However as for Mitchell's itself, I wouldn't say it's absolutely fantastic but it's okay. I found their service to be a little on the slow side as I think they are very understaffed for the amount of traffic they have - even the cash bar area only had one guy helping.

The food is really good though but again be prepared to wait a little while specially when the place is busy, pizza's are delicious and I enjoy their snack baskets.

Other than the slow service Mitchell's is a pretty ok place for a lunch, beer and soccer game day out.
Tarryn Bento
Went there with my fiance, and his boss and girlfriend. Service was average, but the quality of the food blew us away! I had the pasta and it was fantastic. Our plates were practically licked clean by the end of the meal!
Monu B
One of my favorite place in Cape Town to grab a beer and have some good time. This place is never empty and finding a table might be a little difficult but one can always enjoy their beers standing. The ambience is nice and lively. The ceiling is covered with flags of different countries and the bar has currencies (notes) of almost all the countries affixed in the walls and pillars which were given by different visitors and signed by them. They have an amazing selection of beers and a must have among them is the Beer Taster. Six different types of amazing beers are offered in this Taster. Beer lovers out there, you should not miss this one.

The food is mostly Pub food and snacks are best enjoyed when you have a beer by your side.

Apart from that they have some interesting shooters as well. The service was quick with happy to help waiters.

It is an awesome place to sit back relax, enjoy the music and the vibe with a couple of beers!
Definitely worth a visit ! Cheers !

We really had an awesome time in Mitchell´s! It is always full of life, we visited Mitchell´s one tuesday and it was crowded, it is a perfect place to desconect of your rutine!

There was no time when our table was missing drinks, the service was very fast and they kept always an eye on us! As Shanty said, the taster beer is awesome, give it a try!

Cold beers, fun shots and fries as snack, it could be worst ;) On top of it, cool crowd and cool music, I love the fact music is not too loud and you can still have a groupal conversation!

We didn´t try food though, possibily next time!

My favourite watering hole in Cape Town by a country mile! It's as pub-like as a place can get, and even though the music can be a little dodgy at times (Avril Lavigne? Really?), an evening here never fails to be a great one. If you're in a large group, finding a table downstairs can be a bit of a nuisance, but there's plenty standing room, which is how I feel a pub is best enjoyed. Service is snappy, and you'll have your drinks on your table within moments of ordering them.

I like experimenting with my drinks, and the beer taster let me do just that. Six 100ml glasses with some of the most diversely flavoured beers I've had. From the mildly sweet Milk & Honey to the aptly named Old Wobbly, every sip is sheer delight. What's more, if you order the taster, they throw in a little bottle opener keyring as a gift. Handy little freebie!

Food doesn't feature heavily on our visits here, with fries being the staple snack. I'm told the ribs are really good, though. If you're feeling like something more potent than just beer, check out their shooters. Apart from the standard ones, they have a couple of interesting ones, such as the Springbok and the African Toilet. Don't be put off by the names - they're well worth a shot (no pun intended).

Great place to kick back after a day's work. Energetic crowd, decent music (for the most part), and great beer - all the right ingredients for a fun pub night!
