The Old Biscuit Mill has quite a good quality deli. I had the breakfast and sampled the ham and cheese platter. I was fascinated at the presentation of the food but the only blemish was that the egg was a bit salty ( and that was before I even put salt on it as I would normally skip the salt and instead add pepper.) Other than that, I enjoyed the side dishes that came with the cheese and ham platter.
Had a late breakfast here on a weekday and it was wonderful. Wasn’t too busy so I had my choice of table and could linger a bit. The menu has changed (would have taken pics had I known Zomato was outdated) and there are more vegetarian options now. I had the smashed salmon which is a very generous portion and therefore decently priced. Service was really friendly and non-invasive which I appreciated. Only thing is I wish they would have more non-caffeinated options for drinks. Forgot to take pics which is unlike me and could stand as testament to how good the food and surroundings were.
Wonderful eggs Benedict with a twist this morning at Saucisse. The caramelized onion and hickory ham pair nicely with the perfectly poached jumbo eggs and hollandaise. I cool take on a classic. I also ordered a flat white which was served with honey and tasted a treat. Fast service, friendly staff and good food - what more could you ask for. Even if you are not stopping for a bite to eat their deli and bakery section offer a wide selection of fresh nibbles to take home. Well worth a visit.
Ordering individual food items works out quite expensive for what you receive. Cute little deli, food always fresh and looks beautiful. Ordering menu options recommended.
Their pastries are amazing!
The Ubuntu Blend cappuccino and the smoked salmon toasted sandwich! Hallelujah! such a saving grace when you haven't had breakfast and you're spending the day on the road. Friendly service, great coffee and tasty sandwiches and wraps. Great going guys!
Wonderful deli! Quaint, cozy filled with a variety of delicious products. Delightful service and tasty sandwiches! Defiant opt for the sourdough bread. Yum!
Cute little place in the old biscuit mill. They do try a little to hard, French music playing in the background and special blended coffee. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and it is a lovely place to escape from the cape wind. Considering it is a 'boutique deli' the prices are very reasonable, cappuccino is R23 but it is not the nicest coffee I have had, it tastes a bit watered down. The menu is varied and accommodating, ranging from Banting to vegan. The pastry is very fresh which is a bonus. I would come back.
I am constantly lusting after new spots to dine at and was lucky enough to be invited to Saucisse for some yummy eats. These days, eating out is more of a luxury and an opportunity to catch up with friends. I spend more days working and cooking simple meals for the week.
I was pretty excited to go to Saucisse. The deli is situated in Woodstock, which is an area I haven't dined at in months. If I close my eyes I can still remember frame to frame how my day went.
Let me tell you a bit about the chef and owner of this little gem. Amanda Lewis trained as a pastry chef and through her travels as a working chef she gained inspiration from all around the world. She later came back to open Saucisse which has always been her dream. I admire her. She has such a passion for people and for her craft - which is making absolutely incredible food.
Her favorite thing on the menu has to be the breakfast. She is a morning person and a big fan of breakfast. Her plan was to ensure that Saucisse ended up on the "best breakfast in CPT list". And I feel like she deserves a spot on that list. I had a couple of things on the menu: the breakfast bowl, a bite of the free range roast chicken wrap my best friend ordered and the chocolate tart. Everything was beyond delicious and instantly fell in love with the shop. Definitely on my list of the top 5 favorite breakfast spots in the city.
Amanda has also partnered with Green Monday SA to come up with meat free, plant-based vegan dishes which I can't wait to try. #meatfreemondaysjustgotbetter
I recommend that you try out the Breakfast sandwich (in a wrap or in between a croissant) or my personal fav the breakfast bowl when you find yourself in the area.
You won't regret it.
You can also purchase wine and local beer next door from Wine on the mill and have it with your lunch at the deli. Saucisse supports local producers and stocks local products which shows just how much South Africa has to offer!
Really stunning little deli. Perfect spot for a fresh, tasty sandwich and a coffee. Quite pricy but worth it as sandwiches are huge and brimming over with delicious fillings. Definitely recommend the roast chicken and chorizo sandwich.
Incredible atmosphere, friendly staff, local products, large breakfast sandwiches and very pleasant place to grab a quick breakfast bite (until 11:30am)
Absolutely love this deli! I have been there for lunch twice now and it is yet to disappoint. The staff are very friendly and helpful! I first had the Parma ham wrap special there - which was outstanding and really well priced. The next time I went, and friend and I shared a beef sandwich on rye and a roast chicken wrap - both were extremely delicious! I love that in the shop they have a wide selection of products on sale that all look delicious! I'm also desperate to go back and try some of their sweet baked goods! This is a must for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, delicious lunch in Woodstock!
An unexpected surprise: this quaint deli is bursting with taste! There are herbs to buy, and local honeys and jams. There were vegan options and even mini macaroons without dairy, sugar, gluten or egg 😊 but gosh the vegan breakfast of avocado topped with mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes on a macadamia rye bread is delicious!!
Amazing food and service! Our sandwiches were delicious and tasty! Staff are super friendly and give helpful suggestions on the food! Lovely vibe!
Saucisse Deli is one of those places where you know you'll get good food, with an emphasis on local, organic, healthy, and all things yum. Great for sit-down and take-away. Particularly enjoy their selection of yummy sandwiches and great snack options. Plus they sell a watermelon-lemon juice that's pretty epic!!
Saucisse is simply marvellous. Yes, you can eat there (and they had some delicious looking pastries, plus you can order lunch), but I was far more taken by all of the deli products. There is so much to see and choose from, and it's all pretty much local, so not only are you getting some unique and interesting products, but you feel like you're doing a good thing by buying there. From jams and preserves, mustards and chilli sauces, to cheeses, meats, teas, cordials and plant seeds, Saucisse is filled with the most fascinating stuff.
If you want coffee, you can order from them but they'll get it from Espresso Lab Microroasters next door.
Not the cheapest spot in Cape Town, but it's great for a bit of an outing with someone that appreciates foodie products!
I was lucky enough to be invited by Instaeatscapetown for a truly delicious breakfast. Saucisse Deli is situated in the amazing Old Biscuit Mill and wow was my break yummy. I had the Parmesan French Toast and it was delicious and tasty. Saucisse has a wonderful selection of fresh breads, meats, cheeses and fresh juices to buy and select from and it's all locally produced which is great. I will definitely be coming back year. Oh and they also offer from great Banting meals.
From the platters to the dessert and everything in between... The food is beyond delicious and the vibe is very friendly and chilled.
Because it's a family run establishment you really do feel the personal touch with one of the family coming to check on you every now and then and maybe even striking up a conversation.
We use the Daddy O room upstairs as our meeting venue when in Cape Town and hence we have become Saucisse Fans.
The sweet treats are beyond delicious - this Morning I chose - Apple tartlets , lemon Meringues , chocolate croissants and custard croissants - beautifully presented on a wooden board.
For lunch we had:
Corn and Cheese soup - wholesome however rather bland
Quiches - 8/10
Salmon wrap - 8/10
My favourite person is Amanda's Dad - he is just divine .....makes paying the bill a pleasure !!
This is one of those places that you will return to and become part of the family. This family run deli has the best sandwiches in Cape Town. Come and create your own by selecting your bread and fillings.
Returned for breakfast today. The eggs benedict is lovely!!!!
I love this place. Amanda is Eco aware; she recycles, buys in organic and supports suppliers who in turn use ethical farming practices. Free range is taken seriously so I support her 100%. I often get a craving for her delish breakfasts & dash out the office for a meal at her spot. Staff are so friendly & her dad is always a welcoming & happy face at the till!
Been there twice in a week which just shows how much I really like the place. I felt very warmly welcomed and nothing was too much for the friendly and attentive staff. The chef and owner Amanda has established quite an impressive French-inspired restaurant and deli. I had breakfast - frittata on bread and also breakfast bowl with eggs, bacon and cheese. They also cater for vegetarians and vegans - so there's no excuse not to visit!
Do check out their deli section too. I've been able to buy my HoneyBush tea which I usually get from Plett. And also artisan DV chocolates which can be found in the winelands. Great place and will definitely visit again when I get hungry (soon and always).
We had breakfast here this morning and had the parmesan french toast. It hit every taste bud in the perfect way and I think I may have a new addiction now... nice selection of different things to buy which allows you to be mesmerised and entertained.
I work in the area and Saucisse is my go-to lunch destination. Their salads are packed to the brim with the freshest, most tasty ingredients and make for a wholesome lunch. The chicken salad is my ultimate!
I love this place. The staff are friendly and the chicken salad came with loads of chicken. I'm so used to places in Cape Town charging R80 and over for salads that are mostly just leaves. For R65 I got a great portion size with loads of feta, chicken and olives. I'd highly recommend them.
Saucisse is one of the best deli's in Cape Town. They are on the pricey side but you pay for the quality that you get. The best part is that you can build your own sandwiches and salads and the warm and friendly staff always on offer to help and advise you. They also stock banting crackers and occasionally stock banting bread and cake.
Super friendly staff! Daily specials and a large deli filled with various cheeses and cold meats!
Meals avg 50-75 rand pp and range from all day breakfast to wraps and sandwiches!
Affordable, quick and easy lunch options in Woodstock are few and far between! But because it's pay day (R150 for lunch is not a every day budget friendly option) and Cape Town is moody and cold we decided to pop in at Saucisse for a quick lunch! They have a beautiful homely boutique deli at the Old Biscuit Mill. I had the most delicious chicken and mushroom soup served with a slice of toast - the perfect portion size to set me on my way for part 2 of today!
One of the best breakfeasts i have had in a long time. To start the service was amazing, have to order coffee from the place next door and they bring it to your table ( magically find you!) And then the breakfeast was amazballs! well presented and delicious. The spinach was incredible amd the bacon was actually bacon and not fat
Situated at the old biscuit mill, this deli offers some of the tastiest sandwiches and salads. The menu is limited but they can customize it to your dietary requirements. They specialize in meats and cheeses which I hear are quite good. I had a sandwich on rye and macadamia break with pesto,Avo and roasted peppers. The salad with goats cheese and greens and other veggies was yum. Their pastry and ready to go produce look great.
Situated in the trendy old biscuit mill, and flanked by three of cape towns best, this delightful deli delivers. Upon entry you are greeted, as the name suggests (little sausage), with an array of cured meats, aged cheeses and pastries. I opted to order the sandwich of the day special and did so from one of the sociable staff. The sandwich was cured fillet with Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard. It was absolutely delicious. The mustard was a revelation and I fear I may not find its equal within my lifetime. I washed down this tasty snack with a freshly roasted, medium bodied coffee blend from espresso labs just next door. If you looking for cured meats, exotic cheeses and or a quick snack, you’d be hard pressed to find a better establishment.
Situated inside the Biscuit Mill. We didn't feel like fighting for a seat inside the food market and wanted a quiet spot to enjoy our breakfast - Saucisse was perfect. We sat outside in the courtyard. Great coffee. My peppered Ham, emmanthler cheese sandwich on sour dough was delicious. Hubby had the salmon trout with cream cheese and my son wolfed down his special breakfast wrap before I could take a photo of it. Finding parking is a mission and the parking attendants demand R20 an hour.
Great place for fresh and healthy food. The service was great. Always a pleasure, definitely recommend
I've had sandwiches from their specials board about 7/8 times now and everytime they've been delicious. I've a couple of their bowls as well and they were delicious too! The service has always been great and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!
Nice cool joint with excellent organic veg./vegan food options.
Good food, had the vegan heaven. Some sauces, cheeses and hams that are locally made. Excelent quality products. Gluten free and vegan options and products.
Just fantastic. The pulled pork bowl is exquisite - with the rice or the quinoa. Lovely staff, lovely setting.
Great spot for fresh and healthy food. And an awesome retail section showcasing the best local foodie products. Definitely recommend
Will definitely recommend. Friendly people and food of the best quality! Will be returning in the near future!
Staff is so nice ! They’ve been really helpful ! Nice music, nice terrasse and view on the market. Food is good ! I would absolutely recommend !!
Simply the best place for yummy food. Everything in this store is impressive from the great selection of local products to the biodegradable packaging! Big thumps up
