This is such a beautiful restaurant. The ambience is warm and just perfect for a romantic date. It is not your typical Waterfront restaurant. The waiters are super attentive and efficient. The menu is extensive with an excellent selection of wine. The portion size was a tad bit on the small side. We had lamb curry and lamb cutlets. They both tasted really good ( though I could count the pieces of lamb in my curryđ). Overall a lovely experience and I would definitely go again.
The view from Dalliance is stunning on a clear day. We had lunch elsewhere so we just ordered coffees and dessert. The new york cheesecake crème brule was to die for and the coffee nice and strong. The staff were very friendly too.
Definitely one the top establishments to visit when in the Waterfront the ambiance is beautiful and the views of the sea is absolutely breathtaking. The menu offers a lovely variety of dishes and their cocktails are most delicious! Great spot for sundowners or a intimate dinner! A highly recommended gem in my books.
Recently tried this place for dinner and I must say; for the view and for the ambience they create in the restaurant I give them 5/5, it's such a lovely place to watch the sunset and for that reason alone I will definitely be back. My only critique is that their portion sizes are quite small and as a result a little bit on the pricey side. Otherwise I always appreciate a restaurant that makes a "medium" steak properly, and that was the case for me on Friday... I'd recommend having the chicken wings for starters and steak for mains! The desert was extremely sweet for me, but I generally don't have a sweet tooth so someone else may have a loved it. Overall, I'll definitely be back..
Iâll be the first to admit that I really donât enjoy going to the V&A, again nothing against the venue itself itâs just that I donât enjoy the touristy feel or touristy prices for that matter.
But every once in a while though, you come across a little gem that attempts to change this grinchâs mind. Dalliance certainly is that gem. Itâs surrounded by top end brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci and is nowhere near the hustle and bustle of the âfoodcourt/restaurantâ area.
We were booked for a lazy Sunday lunch and got to enjoy a view of the bay as whales breached. The menu had good variation and the service was excellent.
For starters we had:
⢠Sardines with peri-peri and lemon which received a rave review.
⢠Prawns in garlic, chilli, parsley, white wine and butter
⢠Chicken slider with pickles, Dill cucumber and mustard mayo
⢠Grilled calamari with pineapple, peppers and a vinaigrette
⢠My favourite was the Beef Short Rib with marrow, mushroom duxelle and bone marrow gratin; it was tender, tasty and absolutely delicious.
Main course:
⢠Prawns with butter, garlic and lemon
⢠Norwegian Salmon, Fennel and lemon quinoa, herb yoghurt
⢠Baby Kingklip with garlic chili and cherry tomatoes, beautifully presented.
⢠Sirloin with chimichurri and roast potatoes.
⢠Butter chicken with Naan.
Dessert:
⢠Beignets, chocolate, crème Chantilly and raspberries
⢠Marshmallow with chocolate, marshmallow, mango and peanut butter.
All the courses were exquisitely presented and prepared to perfection. The milkshakes were sublime and I was forced to try both the Chocolate milkshake and the Salted Caramel flavour. Dalliance is now one of my favourite venues in the V&A unassuming, but definitely worth a visit.
First time at Dalliance and had a lovely time. Very good service with a very attentive waiter and manager. Had the oysters with horseradish and black pepper and the grilled calamari with pineapple, peppers and vinaigrette. Beautiful flavours and just enough spiciness.
Great tapas style restaurant. Food was very good and service attentive. I did not care too much for the acoustics as it felt that it was amplifying the ambient noise. Great view at the window tables.
Super cute, but slightly tucked away between all the stores down an aisle at the V&A. If you do happen to find yourself slightly peckish then this is for the place to get a lovely sea view and relax amidst all the shopping! We popped in for some wine and sushi. The service was great, the view amazing and the sushi sublime.
This place was so unsuspecting- to be honest only tried it because I was lazy to walk to the other side of the mall. Was a great surprise - the wings were a perfect balance is hot sweet and sticky. Prawns were well seasoned. Perfect if you wana have a tapas style meal and drinks with friends. Service was quick. My group enjoyed plenty of the little homemade bread rolls and dipped it in everything. The chocolate volcano dessert could have a little more of a melting effect when it was open. Will be returning here.
One of my personal TOP 3 restaurants!
From the service, to the food and their amazing wine selection.
The ambiance and atmosphere is amazing, great sea views..
The staff is supper awesome and very welcoming..
Went here for a ladies dinner and it was a good experience. Tapas but reasonably sized that we ended up ordering each one plate off the menu and a side of chips though my friend found the wings extra delicious so she ended up ordering another bowl.
I specifically ordered the butter chicken with naan. Fantastic! Not too spicy- some places tend to increase the spice and I'm not too good with spicy things. Definitely worth going however don't go extremely hungry and on a budget else you'll end up leaving with a half full stomach cause it does add up. Worth it though if you're budget-less.
Wait staff were extremely attentive- always insuring our glasses were never less than half full (ordered wine) and that we were happy and comfortable.
It was my friends birthday and we didn't really get to eat (other than oysters - which everyone seemed to enjoy ) because we were disappointed by how limited the menu was! :(
I went there thinking it's more of a tapas restaurant but it was actually such a limiting menu which was quite pricy.
We settled for a bottle of wine which was worth every cent!đ
Also , the staff was so so helpful because they assisted me in getting balloons for my friend before our arrival , their service was lovely and there are amazing sea views from the back of the restaurant .
The look and feel of this place is amazing, and it offers splendid views of the ocean from inside. It's not located close to the main eateries at the waterfront so it almost feels as though it's a hidden gem. The menu is small and concise and leans towards the more pricier side. Definitely worth a visit.
Had lunch had dalliance today. The view is amazing, it's also one of the more intimate restaurants at the VNA. I had the chicken wings and hummus. Sashen had the chicken burger. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service was good, the manager was definitely more friendlier than our waiter though.
Dalliance is located at a prime spot at the V&A due to its stunning views. It's a great place to have a cocktail or a glass of wine. They have a nice menu offering sushi and tapas. My sister and ordered the flat bread with hummus and a cocktail. It was enjoyable.
Best breakfast spot in the Waterfront. Delicious food, great service and a wonderful view too! It's also not located in the busy, high traffic part of the mall, which makes it a good spot to escpae the crowds. Recommended dish: Mushroom Toast.
Dalliance !!! V & A Waterfront !!!!
I had came here with my sister for snacks and drinks. Its a beautiful restaurant with a lovely view looking over the waterfront.
We had shared a pineapple cocktail, and we had, had a pita bread with hummus which was yummy.
Service was good and very friendly waiter
That had served us.
Finally we made it here. On a Sunday nogal!! It wasnt busy though and I was very happy with the sea view. No kiddies menu but there were a few starters which would be suitable for my daughter. I ordered the humus for her which she normally likes but now didnt eat because of some paprika powder.. kids...my fillet was rare just as I ordered to perfection and I really enjoyed. I hardly eat red meat these days so the portion could have been a bit bigger... I would have managed. I had a lovely Springfield Sauvignon. Thought the wine list was a bit funny: either 100ml which is like only half a glass or a karaf of 250ml which then became rather expensive. I guess it is the Waterfront so prices are quite high. The staff is absolutely professional and very pleasant. It was good but bit pricy to go very often..

Went to Dalliance for the first time last week to try out their new menu and we were very impressed. Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. Recommendations: designer oysters for starter, prawns with seafood basting for main and the crème caramel for dessert... yum! Oh, and if you love cocktails, try the Down Dog!
Nice restaurant. The food was really good. The service wasn't all that great. Had the kingklip which was definitely a winner. Had a nice atmosphere. Overall a good restaurant.
Amazing tapas, very good service. We have been here a few times and haven't been disappointed. Even though it is situated on the inside of the V&A Waterfront, Dalliance has an awesome view. If you ever have the chance, definitely give this place a go!
Had such a delicious lunch here. This place has been on my list of restaurants to try and finally today I had the chance to come here. Please if you go here order the butter chicken curry....it was divine. Not to spicy and not too mild it was just perfect. They pair it with naan bread although the naan bread was a little dry. Non the less it's great restaurant with a lovely view of the ocean.
This is such cool place and it is quite hidden to the average shopper because it is surrounded by expensive storesđ. Anyway I had a lovely time here. The view was amazing. I couldn't stop taking picture. The food was good as well. The hostess was so welcoming but the waitress wasn't the best. I got the feeling she wasn't too excited about serving. But besides that she did her job. Had a great time here
Despite being inside a shopping centre, this restaurant has gorgeous views of the waterfront and I would be quite happy to simply have a glass of wine at  counter overlooking the waterfront. They serve small plates for sharing so we ordered the garlic prawns, sardines, cajun chicken sliders, butter chicken and beef short rib - I really enjoyed it, particularly the butter chicken and the short rib. However, I was defeated by the how hot the sardines were, I would only recommend them for the brave amongst us. I had the chocolate fondant for dessert which I also enjoyed. As with all restaurants on the waterfront, their prices are a higher but in this instance I'm not 100% convinced of the value for money - some of the dishes, while tasty, are completely overpriced (the garlic prawns) and their wine is also quite generously marked up. Expect to pay well over R600 for two at a minimum.
The new baby of the Kove Collection is Dalliance, a tapas-style restaurant that has just recently opened up in the V&A Waterfront. Dalliance means âa little love affairâ, and this is exactly what this restaurant aims to provide â a feel-good space without pretentiousness where you can sit back and relax, watch out over the ocean, sip on some truly wonderful cocktails, and feast on a whole range of single-portion items.
Came here for a late Saturday lunch with my parents and I think I just found another Cape Town gem. Funny enough, I had heard how good lovely the view is from here but never anything about the food but WOW.
The food comes in a Tapa-style manner, so basically everything comes out as it gets off the pan/oven. The portions are quite small but if you order more than one portion it's an awesome to share . We had the salmon tataki as a "starter" and I didn't really enjoy it because the salmon didn't taste fresh. We also had the chicken wings which were so yummy ! The restaurant doesn't really have a variety of sauces on the side but the cook was SO friendly and made me my own personal dip which consisted of cream cheese and parsley  I think. It complimented the wings perfectly. The BUTTER CHICKEN CURRY was to DIE for ! (I ended up ordering two portions for myself) The lamb curry was also very delicious and what I really love about this place is that all the food was so tender and soft. Overall, loved my dining experience, the waiters were very attentive and friendly, and of course the view was lovely.
Come for the views, comeback for the Peri-Peri Sardines, they are divine !!! Simple tapas plates that just taste great. A really great way to spend a meal at the V&A.
Dalliance in waterfront is not easy to find for people like me who cannot follow directions but after a few wrong turns I finally made it there. The view is worth all the trouble. The menu is tapas style and its best to bring friends and share as many dishes as possible. Our waitress knew the menu well and was happy to alter a few dishes if needed. We had oysters and calamari for starters. Calamari was a little spicy which I enjoyed so much. Then we had fish and steak and we still had space for chicken tikka and desserts. We were left with so much more to try but we did our best. We cannot wait to go back for the food and te stunning view of the ocean.
Been to this restaurant twice and both times I haven't been able to take pictures of all the food we ordered because we just dived right in! Haha but the food is amazing, one of the best tapas restaurants Iv been to - plus the service is great too. Definitely my new go to spot
I have a major weakness for tapas â I can think of nothing better than ordering a whole bunch of little plates of food and sharing them around the table. Itâs the best way to get a taste of everything. A little savoury, a little sweet, a little hot and a little cold. Itâs the most delightful way to eat. Throw in a killer view and a few cocktails, and youâve got yourself a winner. We recently enjoyed a tapas date night at Dalliance in the V & A Waterfront and it was an absolute treat.
First of all, the space is fantastic â chic, comfortable and sophisticated. The service is exceptional, and deserves a huge high five. It is so refreshing to see a team work together so well. The staff are fun, vibey and really spent time with each table which brought an incredible energy to the evening. The menu is well thought out and includes a good selection of dishes â vegetarian, meat, seafood and sweets. The food is bang-on the money with variety, flavour, texture, freshness and uniqueness. A tapas date night at Dalliance is a delicious affair and I cannot wait to go back.
With so much to choose from, we decided to tackle the menu in stages and broke it down to âstarters, mains and dessertsâ. To start, we had the goats cheese, beetroot, walnuts & watercress (R50), chicken wings (R55) and prawn special (R90) â all 3 were tasty and went down a treat with our cocktails and beer.
We then moved on to the meatier dishes and ordered the beef short rib with mushroom duxelles and bone marrow gratin (R65), the fillet with bĂŠarnaise sauce and skinny fries (R90), the lamb chops with olive oil, lemon, garlic and rosemary (R100) and butter chicken curry with naan (R55) â all 4 dishes were out of this world good but the beef short rib was the absolute winner of the night. Tender, sticky beef with dreamy bone marrow was just perfect in every way.
To end, we went for the 2 desserts from the specials board. The chocolate fondant with just the right amount of chocolatey-gooeyness and the rice crispy treats which took us straight back to our younger years. Perfection. I cannot fault a single thing.
So, if youâre looking for your next tapas date night spot, I suggest you give Dalliance a visit. You can thank me later.
Absolutely fantastic place. Very clever in its menu make up. The wine list is available by 100ml, 250ml and 750ml. This allows you to have a small amount of wine to compliment each small plate you choose.
The quality of the food is brilliant. Fresh and well prepared. I could not find fault with it. The section is ample and quite sure they have something for everyone.
It can become expensive but you need to pay for quality and rentals in the V & A are certainly not cheap.
I'll be back for the view alone!!
Wow. This place is beautiful - but we were welcomed with an overwhelming fish smell. It was really off putting. We ordered drinks but they were disappointing 1 coffee and 2 virgin drinks cost us R130. We left bc the portions were much smaller than expected (yes I know they serve tapas but this was taking it to the next level) the desserts look beautiful so I might return for that -service is attentive too.
So tried this place again, it was much better. The restaurant was lively, and the food was pretty good too. We had the chicken sliders which to were okay, the calamari which was succulent and beautifully cooked and then we had the chicken wings which were really well done! The service was much better too, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The only let down, was the dessert, the marshmallow thing, which I didn't enjoy much as it was really sweet and just a bit too much for me.
Our virgin mojito were terrible, made with lemon instead of lime and white sugar instead of a sugar syrup. To top it off the sugar wasn't dissolved. Their drinks are also quite over priced. I was so disappointed with drinks that I couldn't risk a bad meal and decided to go elsewhere.
Second time around
I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed, it's a completely different experience to my last visit. I had the hummus and the chicken wings and had a taste of the lamb curry. All dishes were delicious and the chef went out of his way to alter the dishes according to my specifications. Wr then went on to have the chocolate fondant and the cheesecake, both of which were decadent and thoroughly satisfying. Service was impeccable I'm glad this restaurant smoothed out all the creases definitely a must see.
Nice late lunch at Dalliance. Had great tappas-style food. The Sardines were excellent, tuna was good and the chicken wings were nice and spicey. Good place, great waittress. We liked the bill-in-a-tin idea.
Really was a lovely afternoon! I never knew this place existed until I literally stumbled onto Dalliance well doing a bit of shopping yesterday and decided to pop in for a quick bite! Their tapas is fantastic and the staff are very friendlyđđť the view isn't of the hat out yet is a great view in its own rightđđť
Absolutely devine. Exquisite presentation!
What a different experience trying small glasses of wine, sitting by the window... was a little uncomfy on the chairs and a little pricey tapas styled menu but I definitely enjoyed the goats cheese salad and calamari!
How good is the food here!
Second time back here and you just want to eat everything. Very few places get it right when it comes to tapas but hey have done it here. Cocktails aren't so great but not an issue.
We wanted to try this "new" tapas bar so we made reservations to guarrantee seats with the view. The place is elegant and the service was friendly. We liked the calamari , humus, goat cheese, but the lamb short ribs, and the rice pudding were a disappointing. In general the experience was nice but I am not ready to repeat it any time soon. Personally I find it overpriced.
The view is the best in the Waterfront. We had five dishes between us - each one exceeded our expectations! Good selection of wines. Quite pricey, but well worth the premium!
Attractive Meze approach to the menu with a nice variety of food options. Attentive waiters and cool views looking out towards Robben Island. Great place for a relaxed lunch.
Really great view, delicious food! We were sitting at the window and saw some whales having a wonderful time in the sea in front of us. What a lovely addition to a fantastic restaurant. Highly recommend!
This menu and the food they are producing deserves to be tasted and tested, it's that good!! It must be tried! What is particularly good is the sauce accompaniment to each dish.
Nice new eatery. Only small tappas dishes. Very nice ambiance. Nice variety of dishes. Excellent service. Nice vibe. Will definitely be back.
Hubby and I went on a well deserved date night to the new baby of The Kove Collection group - Dalliance.
The atmosphere is great, the service is fantastic and the food is incredible! The restaurant is based on the trendy new "small plate" concept, which is huge overseas. The idea is to order a whole bunch of dishes and to share them - this way you get to experience a wide variety of food.
My personal favourite was the Tempura Kingklip which was served on pea and mint puree - delicious! We also tried the Salmon Tataki, Calamari (which is served with diced pineapple and peppers), the garlic prawns (spicy!), the beef slider, goats cheese and the Vegetarian Spaghetti. They were all delicious - the only place where I can fault this amazing restaurant is the extremely tiny (and not too exciting) Vegetarian menu. If you are a vegan, there are about two meal options for you.
The desert menu is incredible - just have everything! Same goes for the cocktails - they are too good, so get an Uber ;) you have to try the Spiced Pear Bellini and tge Mango Daquiri
Lovely views, great shops and restaurants, live entertainment, clean and well maintained, what's not to like? As tourists we found it perfectly safe to walk to during the day, using main routes, but at dusk, would not visit without shuttle bus or other transport.
A day out retail therapy and chilling. Eating drinking and enjoying the surrounds. The yacht race was docking here and we were able to wish a couple of crews good luck on their next leg of their voyage.
Super cool place!!!
Very alive with amazing views, huge mall , nice cafĂŠs and restaurants , very interesting aquarium, street show , harbour & canal cruises, museum -like souvenir shop, food and craft markets đđ
Beautiful! Simply beautiful! Wonderful food, great shops, picturesque, entertainment, etc. I wish I had more time there. Plan to spend a good part of your day there. A1
Always a bliss visiting V n A Waterfront. It can be crowded during festive season, but ofcourse it's festive vibes right? Where else can one be? Great restaurants, all shops are available here, I mean all. Great place to be when you are on holiday, or when you want to relax and catch some fresh air. Nice view by the harbour. You can catch a boat, a helicopter an uber or a red bus. You will find everything you need here!
Beautiful mall with all the shops and restaurants you could want. The waterfront is gorgeous! We took a stroll on the boardwalk at the water...and there was a loose board which I didn't see. I fell & broke my hip!!! I can testify that Security, EMT at the mall were fabulous and treated me with the best care.
This is possibly the heart of Capetown according to me. Access to shopping store, great restaurants and great starting and end point if you are looking to do the red/blue bus as well as the cruise. You gotta have the a lot of 'Benjamin' to enjoy what the mother city has to offer
Worth a visit, loads of shops, cafes and bars in the most beautiful setting. Itâs very busy and there is lots of live dancing, singing and street art.
Great for people watching and window shopping
Amazing location. Clean, neat & well laid out. Plenty of places to eat, plenty of activities along the Harbour side with amazing views. Informal pop up markets with a variety of goods & foods cater for all tastes. V&A is safe with plenty of parking. Loved it!
Very upmarket shopping venue. The usual suspect stores are all here plus the high end luxury stores which are not so easy to find. Reasonable selection of restaurants and the more market like stalls are also present outside. Loads of boat and helicopter tour stands along the actual dockside. Must visit venue when coming to Cape Town. Fantastic views of table mountain in the background.
