Deemed as the best ice cream. It really is great they have amazing flavours and good for vegans too. We enjoyed the banana bread, salted caramel and the chocolate. They have multiple branches so it's easy to access. The ice cream is great quality.
Had to visit after they’ve been named the worlds beat ice cream. I had the dirty sea salt caramel which was amazing. Had it in a cone and felt like a kid again ;-)
We almost missed the shop because the signage outside is non existent but there was no way i was going to come to Cape Town and not try I've cream at the world's best parlour. We visited on a day without a chocolate option which was sad. . We tasted every flavour that took our fancy and I settled on a scoop of passion fruit and a scoop of dirty sea salt caramel. Yum. If you're an ice cream fan you need to visitand taste the unusual flavours available - such as turmeric.
After late-lunching at Hudsons The Burger Joint, a short walk away is Unframed. The open front store with the convenient engraved seating outside in the sun provides a perfect atmosphere to people watch, get asked for money, and listen to the hiphop blasting from the store. There are a few usual flavours like salted caramel, vanilla but no nut ones sadly. There are also some very unusual ones like lime lemon basil (tastes like a granita) and the two I tried at R38 for a one scoop cone - strawberry coconut (quite sweet with only the tiniest bit of coconut) and turmeric latte (a fluoro yellow offering with a little bit of sweet, a lot of turmeric, and how the latte form does taste). I didn't like the strawberry but I did so the turmeric, although the flavour got a bit much in the end. Maybe it's more the colour and novelty factor.
Like most people, anything described as a ‘vegan option’ lets me know I have no business being anywhere near it. So earlier today when my mind got blown by their vegan Beetroot, Chocolate & Ginger flavour, I experienced something of an existential crisis. I’m currently sitting on the floor of my room in the foetal position, contemplating the meaning of life if anyone’s looking for me.
The staff is very friendly and I really enjoy the interesting and new flavours that they have each time I visit. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Took a quick late night ice cream run last night and had the salted caramel popcorn with the caramelised cashews. I inhaled it. Friendly service too. Only wish the atmosphere was a little more inviting. Will definitely go again.
Best ice cream I have ever had! Their new flavors are amazing. The honey is my favourite, the beetroot and berry sorbet is yummy and the pineapple and red pepper sorbet is different and delightful!! Staff are awesome too. Worth every penny. AND you can buy 1L tubs
A sweet after gym (cheat) treat and let me tell you the flavours are out of this world!! I had the beetroot chocolate ginger and lemon vegan scoop with the rum and raisin. Really love that they put actual rum in there although it was a bit too early for a shot of liquor on my part.

After hearing so many good things about Unframed from my vegan friends, I visited the Kloof Street-based store on a Monday night. This place is ultra-minimal and makes its mandate very clear: Unframed is purely about ice-cream. After sampling their offering (vegan and dairy-based ice-cream), I had a scoop of the sea salt caramel ice-cream and my word, it was superb! The two gents manning the store were rather affable, which made the experience even more pleasant. Understandably, Unframed is quite pricey relative to its competitors, but it’s totally worth it.
The mistake was choosing the Tasting Flight as the scoop size stayed normal as apposed to tasting portion size
I face 5 scoops with the 5th by default the vegan option, and can honestly say loved them all equally and struggled to find a favourite flavour

The ice cream flavours at Unframed are quite something. A usual suspect like vanilla for example will leave you delighted after every taste. I’ve never had anything like it which is why I always make my way back.
My favourite flavours are the caramalized banana and the dirty caramel. Paying a visit to Unframed will honestly be an adventure for your tastebuds so add it to your foodie to-do-list🙂.
Their selection of flavours are always creative and full of flavour. We tried many of them but we give a round of applause to the vegan mint chocolate and the sea salt chocolate which is going to leave an amazing taste in your month :)

Exceptional ice cream parlour. If I have dinner in town and the desserts don't tickle my fancy, I always pop but here instead. If you're with friends always go for the tasting tray, much cheaper and cost effective.

Ok, who am I kidding. I have no control when it comes to sugar, so it's practically Sunday all day, everyday.
THE GOOD - the ice cream is really, really good! I love their weird and wonderful flavour options. I was very tempted to go for the burnt white chocolate but decided on being boring and going with the dirty sea salt caramel which was totally worth it. It's definitely one of the best salted caramels I've ever tasted. Other plus points: the sugar cone, fresh and tasty. Love that they have vegan options, where they use coconut milk instead (super tempted to try these next time). And lastly, the decor, it's simplistic and modern - Love.
THE BAD - the service is a bit slow. There is only one guy to service customers, scoop the orders and cash. Shame.
THE UGLY - parking is a bit of a mission and the store doesn't really stand out, so you could easily drive past it.
THE BEST ICE CREAM IN CAPE TOWN! I've tried dozens of their flavors and even the crazy inventive ones are absolutely amazing. The dairy based ones are silky smooth, the sorbets are fresh, and honestly the vegan ones are so good that the dairy ones don't even compare. Side note: the decor is minimalist and amazing and the staff are always lovely.
One word.... AMAIZING!!!!! Loved this Ice Cream! Took me back to Romes Gelato! Well done guys!!! Real little gem in the heart of Cape Town, wa sjust a bit sad that the burnt white chocolate was sold out! But will definitely return when I go back to CPT
The place is great and the vibe is popping. The ice cream flavors are out of this world! Definitely going to go back more often😭. I just wish they had more seats available, but it's understandable given their usual customer capacity and the customer preference to remain mobile whilst eating ice cream.
Such a trendy ice-cream spot with a range of vegan ice-creams. They had a vegan turmeric flavored ice-cream. Most likely a take on a golden milk drink. Now one would think that this would not work as an ice-cream flavour... but it just did. Can't wait for the summer so that i can be a regular!
And I've returned. This time to do the 5 scoop tasting plate. I had the turmeric latte flavour again, coconut raspberry, matcha, peanut butter and dirty banana flavours - all vegan. Love love loved it!

My friend and I ordered the tasting flight to share - 5 scoops of icecream of your choice for R75. All the ice creams were deliciously smooth and creamy and the quality was excellent.
We ordered:
• vegan caramel - delicious slightly burnt caramel taste
• vegan coconut raspberry - the tartness of the raspberry comes through really nicely
• burnt white chocolate - a classic, sweet and delicious flavour
• pear sorbet - very sweet but smooth
• peanut butter - one of the best peanut butter icecreams I've had.
The tasting flight is real value for money and there are so many amazing flavours to choose from. This is definitely going to be my new favourite icecream stop in future.

Absolutely love this place, the ice cream is so good and creamy. The first time I went I had the vegan peanut butter which is still my absolute favour (I'm a major peanut butter lover) and had tried the vegan coconut raspberry which was also really amazing. This time I tried the turmeric latte and mint chocolate chip (both vegan) and both flavours are so delish - for anyone who is skeptical about trying turmeric flavour ice cream I would highly recommend it, it's not over powering at all and tastes amazing.
I absolutely love this place! (I also love the fact that they are open until 11pm)
What's even better is their vegan ice cream. I am not vegan, but I am a little lactose intolerant, so I love that their ice cream is a little softer on my tummy.
They always have interesting flavours, my personal favourite is the vegan peanut butter. This weekend they had a beetroot, chocolate and ginger flavour. You guys can keep that flavour, I swear I would have it every single time! It's so amazing!

Tried Unframed for the first time yesterday and must say I'm very impressed! Had the burnt white chocolate flavor which was very creamy and tasty. Really cool that they have options for vegans. Service was great - the guy who helped us was so friendly. I'm so glad they are at the V & A Food Market!
I'm happy I finally managed to try Unframed's popular ice cream. Because I'm really indecisive I had a sample of almost all the ice creams, and each one had such amazing flavor. I ended up choosing the honey rooibos which was amazing. It wasn't as sweet as I was scared it would be and the ?berry? sauce infused with the ice cream was a great addition. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the lactose free ice-creams, and that there was no indoor seating, but other than that this is definitely a must-try if you're looking for some good, fresh ice cream.
Just stumbled upon this good icecream shop, not easy to notice for its minimal design look. Interesting flavours and nice consistency, not icy at all. I wish they had more flavours though.
Tried Unframed for the first time this weekend and was very impressed. We had the dirty salted caramel and the lemon, lime and basil sorbet. Both were super flavourful and comparable to some of the nicest gelato I've had in Italy. Tasted very artisanal and authentic and not at all processed like a lot of the other big brands I've tried. The salted caramel was wonderfully creamy and the basil really came across in the sorbet, which was very refreshing. Look forward to trying some of their other flavours!
Besides my yum, delicious chocolate ice cream, my vegan friend was pleasantly surprised there were options for her as well (and just as good!)

My favourite ice cream place, and I'm big on ice cream. Their ice cream has a smooth, velvety texture with precise, exotic flavours that can really change to taste buds for life. If you love ice cream, you have got to try Unframed Ice Cream. I recommend the Turmeric Latte, Caramelised Banana, and the Dirty Sea Salt Caramel.
Finally an ice cream shop with some original flavors. The design of the shop is really well done but the best part is definitely the ice cream ;)

Yum! We've been here a couple times. I've had the vanilla bean with caramelized nuts both times. Sooo good. We've also tried sea salt chocolate and peanut butter. Yum, yum, yum!
Fantastic ice cream. Need more flavored. It's impossible to actually enjoy your ice cream as there are many vagrants in the area. Not ideal to go there at night.

Finally tried out the much raved about "Unframed" ice cream. After walking for some time we eventually found their little store on Kloof street. The store itself is very minimalistic in terms of its decor and design which meant all the attention was on the 10+ flavors of ice cream they have to offer.
From what I have heard they usually boast weird and wonderful flavors but the day we visited there weren't that many, the most interesting ones being the Turmeric and Burnt white chocolate flavors. Nonetheless, the decision was still very difficult and I was torn between the Dirty Sea Salt caramel and the Burnt white chocolate. I ended up going with the Burnt white chocolate - and it was delicious! It was super creamy with the perfect texture and the flavor was amazing. Their sugar cones are also really good as they aren't too sweet but still taste great. Another great factor about this place is that they also have tasty vegan options - my friend is a vegan and Unframed had 3+ vegan flavors to offer.
The staff are very friendly and helpful (especially when it comes to deciding between ice cream flavors). There is very little seating due to the store being small but other than that it is a great place which serves delicious, high-quality ice cream. I will definitely be back to try out their other flavors!

I framed remains my favorite place to get ice cream. The variety of flavors is incredible especially the matcha and turmeric! Always so exciting to see what each day's flavors are & the toppings are always delicious.
Super trendy new ice cream shop Unframed boasts vegan options - which immediately made it a hit sensation. I wasn't overly excited by the options though- Pree went with the turmeric vegan ice cream and nut topper and I went for a lime and basil sorbet. Neither of us finished our helping (one scoop) and we were both disappointed that they did not have more flavours in stock. Hopefully we'll return to find a Dream selection of vegan friendly options in the future! All in all it's in a great location, service is fast and the atmosphere is fun.
Unframed is the latest ice cream store to pop up in Cape Town. I was expecting more weird and out there flavours but they were pretty normal.
Decor is very minimalistic and industrial like. There is no seating inside and very limited seating outside. What irritated me was we ordered a tasting plate and obviously couldn't walk and eat with it, there were plenty of people sitting there without any ice cream that didn't want to move. I feel that the store should do a better job of policing this. The area is a little dodgy with the store helpers having to chase beggars away during the night.
I like that the store is open till late, 11pm. We had a tasting board with five scoops of Salted caramel, coconut raspberry, chocolate hazelnut, speculoos & burnt white chocolate. Speculoos was out favourite, burnt white chocolate was also delicious. All the flavours were nice. Love that you can choose five scoops which means more flavours to taste plus you can share it.

Without a doubt one of the best ice creams I've ever tasted! Smooth, creamy, perfectly balanced sweetness! The dirty sea salt caramel was my favourite. Other stand out flavours were the speculoos (although I thought there'd be crushed cookies churned into the delectable dessert, but alas no luck), and the chocolate hazelnut.
This compact ice cream joint has been on my culinary list for a while as all my fellow Joburg comrades rave about it. Classic ice cream is an understatement here , the flavors are unique and packed with a punch. Staff are super cool and sociable. The decor is modernized and the place is organized. Try it out all you ice cream lovers! They also cater for vegans.
The ice cream is good compared to the stock standard soft serve variety but I've tasted better at the same price point. I had the salted caramel scoop and a scoop of banana. The 1 scoop pricing is a bit steep but most home made things are. The store is super slick and trendy right in the heart of kloof street.

Hidden gem alert! A quiet ice cream shop, hidden between two other shops. So small that you could easily miss it while driving by. But oh so delicious ice cream!
Deciding on two flavors to share was extremely difficult because everything simply looked delicious! We eventually settled for the vegan chocolate chip mint and the dirty sea salt caramel. It beats the Creamery's sea salt caramel, hands down! I love the fact that there are little caramel pieces in it. Very rich and tasty, exactly the way ice cream is suppose to be. The mint chocolate chip was also outstanding, being healthy yet just as delicious as normal dairy ice cream.
Unframed has got such a unique concept, with the shop giving you a modern hipster feel, right at home in Gardens. But the healthy alternative is great, especially considering it tastes just as good! If this is the way vegan ice cream tastes, then maybe I could actually survive as a vegan!
And other great thing - real value for money with a R75 "tasting flight" consisting of 5 scoops of your choice of ice cream. Delicious!
Just as a side note - the area around the stop isn't so great, with beggars hanging around and a bit of a doggy vibe. We went and finished our ice cream in the car, after being somewhat harassed by a homeless person. So just keep that in mind when you visit... and you must stop by, really you're missing out if you don't!

There's some serious goodness on offer at Unframed! I absolutely adored the ice cream and all the unique flavours on offer (they even cater for vegans).
Unframed also stay open till late, which makes it the perfect place to stop in for an after dinner treat.

Unframed is definitely one of the best spots to get ice cream in Cape Town. Located on the trendy Kloof Street, it's a small no frills parlour with exciting flavours of ice cream. Among favourites were the sea salt and caramel and matcha green tea. They also have a nice little selection of interesting vegan flavours to try, which are just as creamy and delicious. The only concern is the small size of the store which can get pretty full, and the consequent lack of seating.
Overall, such good ice cream and definitely worth a try!
I had Unframed at a friend's child's 1st birthday party and was really impressed at the flavours they offered - their vanilla was amazing, some of the best I've ever had. So I decided to take a walk there from a friend's place in town.
The store itself is really cute and minimalist and really let their ice cream do all the taking.
I had the Speculaas and Vanilla which was amazing. Their ice cream cone was lovely too! I love cones that stay crispy in the face of very creamy ice cream.

Finally came to try Unframed after hearing about it for ages! My high expectations were met with a smile - service was lovley, and the ice cream was delicious! Super creamy, strong flavours and big scoops. I had the sea salt chocolate flavour, while my two friends had vegan lemongrass and vegan chocolate - we all left happy :)

I personally recommend the Speculoos (Dutch biscuit made with ginger, clove and cinnamon) and the pistachio, which are both reliably lovely. Really fabulous vegan ice creams as well -- Vegan Husband was blown away by the matcha flavour (made with ceremonial quality matcha tea), as well as the mint chocolate chip (made with fresh mint leaves).
This cute little spot really does excellent ice cream, vegan and traditional alike. Their flavours are always changing and the ones I've tasted, salted caramel, vegan coconut and raspberry and a dark chocolate one, and were all exceptional. Heard about Unframed from a friend and decided to give it a go. A small unassuming place on Kloof, with a mini lab-like kitchen at the back. The decor was clean and minimalistic with wooden finishes.
We tried the matcha ice cream (which was the vegan option; made with coconut milk), which we found to be slightly sweeter than we liked. We ended up getting two scoops; the sea salt chocolate and speculoos, both of which were deliciously well-balanced in flavour. This was definitely the best artisanal ice cream we've had. The texture was smooth, dense, and creamy. The price was R54 for our two scoops, which is fairly steep, but well worth it! Definitely a place to visit!

Very very yummy! The portions are great for the price. It would definitely be my first recommendation to someone asking for good ice-cream spots!! Also the staff are super friendly, helpful and honest about flavours - although it would be cool if they had seating.
Burnt white chocolate and coffee is a winner every time!
Pretty good ice cream. We tried a few, and settled on the grapefruit sorbet and salted chocolate, both of which were enjoyed to the last bite.
It does not have any seating, except for a bench in the heat outside.
Awesome!!! My mom bought me a few litres from here to try! The vegan chocolate is outstanding! The burnt white chocolate is not as flavourful and the speculoos could also have a hint more but it reminds me of France ✨ gorgeous! And loveeeeeee the raw and more Superfood/health conscious outlook with the ice-cream 👌 (there's even a Spirulina flavour hahaha! Blue ice cream that isn't bubblegum 🤣 saw this in France, love it!!)
Really rich, dense artisanal ice cream. I tried the caramel flavour which was absolutely delicious. I also love how low-key and unassuming it is. I haven't found many ice cream parlours in Cape Town better than The Creamery, but this place sure gives them a run for their money!
This place is underrated, walked in to an array of different ice-cream flavours even have the vegan variety. I was welcomed to taste all the flavours which just made my decision that much harder as they were all delicious. Love the burnt white chocolate flavour.
I've been dying to come here for a long time now - good word of mouth had made me crave delicious ice cream. Unframed is uniquely designed, with its chic wood-based design. The flavours are exotic, with flavours like 'burnt white chocolate' and 'dirty caramel'. My choice of a basil and lemon flavoured ice cream, as well as the white chocolate, was great - especially in the hot weather. The only downside to unframed is the price, with 2 moderate scoops coming in at a whopping R54. Overall something I recommend you try at least once.

Wow unframed you are amazing!! First time visiting tonight. I wanted to taste everything, ended up tasting the basil and lemon sorbet, the caramel and chocolate, and the dirty sea salt caramel. Decided on the caramel and chocolate which is rich and creamy😍. They even have matcha ice cream 🍦 Unframed is definitely worth a visit.

We stopped by for something sweet on the way home after dinner. The map on Zomato gets you quite lost! This is actually opposite A List in Kloof street, and not next to Jan Van Riebeek school as the map dictates.
Unpretentious and yummy! A few vegan options which were actually really tasty. I got the dirty salted caramel which contained gooey bits of caramel sauce, as well as the sea salt dark chocolate. This flavor combination was heaven! The bits of gooey sauce were divine, and the texture of the chocolate was very much like a dark chocolate truffle.
Zenith had the chocolate as well, but topped it with caramelized banana. I'm not a fan of banana so I didn't try his, but he described it as being decadent but still light and not too overpowering.
I've wish they had a few sorbet options, hence the 4.5 star. Definitely a place to pass by during a hot Cape Town day!
(Changed the rating from 3.5 to 4.5 because of the prompt, and informative response from management informing me that they have been receiving low quality fruits and herbs for the sorbet, and instead of compromising on quality, they won't serve the sorbet until they can get their hands on better ingredients)

What amazing combinations and flavours, just intime for Summer. Today I tried the lime,lemon and basil and my friend tried the sea salt chocolate! Some of the yummiest sorbet I've tasted in Cape Town. So good 😀
My boyfriends sister is vegan and after being to unframed she kept raving about the vegan ice cream. I decided to check it out after lunch in the area.
It's a small shop that gets straight to the point. The ice cream. The attendant was super friendly and helpful when it came to tasters. I tasted the vegan macha and the lime basil sorbet which were both really good. I decide to go with the classic chocolate but the vegan option.
The ice cream was really delicious. Smooth and super chocolatey with just a tiny hint of coconut..It's not overpowering like other vegan ice creams made with coconut milk. The texture and creaminess was sublime. Weirdly enough it took a long time to melt, which was great as we took a stroll down kloof street to enjoy our cones. Which were great by the way.
A must! Also they had some really different weird flavours on display. For next time 😅
I fell deep in love with Unframed at first lick... but my mom said it best: "Unframed's Ice Cream shouldn't even be called ice cream!" It is in a class of its own, and is definitely the best ice cream I've ever enjoyed. Unframed's out-of-this-world flavors like Matcha Tea, Salted Caramel, and Lemongrass are each silky smooth with a subtle sweetness -- none of the sickening over-sugared stuff. This may just be the dawn of the farm-to-cone movement.
But the best part? Unframed serves up several vegan flavors (like sea salt chocolate!) made with a variety of nuts (including coconut) so you can indulge (somewhat) guilt-free without dairy. Ice cream for breakfast? Yes, please! #WORTHIT

Definitely need to try this place! Must be one of the best ice-cream shops in Cape Town at the moment (in our opinion) - So creamy and delicious with lots of unique flavours and even a few vegan options.
Amazingly smooth, decadent ice cream. Everything looked so tasty but we eventually decided on two 2-scoop cups. The one cup contained the two sorbets of the day (1 scoop Lemon, lime and basil and a scoop Grapefruit) and the other cup contained a scoop of peanut butter and something called salted dirty caramel (or something like that). I was in ice cream heaven! All flavours were delicious and so pure, I just couldn't get enough. I will be back soon to get my ice cream fix on. This is my new favourite ice cream spot in CPT! I wish I took pics but I was in an ice cream trance!
The smoothest, creamiest ice cream in Cape Town!! Have limited flavors but the ones they do have are amazing. Super friendly staff make this little ice cream parlor a "must try" spot for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Unframed is one of the many gems you can find in long Street. Top quality ice cream with unconventional flavours. Awesome friendly staff and the owner is pretty cool as well.
Come here to try the salt chocolate or the burnt white chocolate below. They also have nuttikrust and a great peanut butter flavour.
Only downside is limited number of flavours.
Found this new gem on Kloof street. Absolutely superb ice cream (with 4 vegan options!) Best I've had yet. Try out the chocolate or matcha green tea.

It's good, and marginally cheaper than other gelato outlets in Capetown. In CBD, it's the best in terms of taste and variety.

This is the second branch of Moro Gelato I visited. The service is very good and their Gelato is really amazing! they had a nice selection of tasty flavors to choose from.
Another nice treat was their hot chocolate.
The location is tiny, but also makes the place feel cosy.
Cute little aesthetic gelato place situated on long street. Slightly more expensive but definitely worth that delicious gelato. You can do some taste tests before ordering, you can get more than one flavour in either a cup or a cone. There's seating areas outside and inside. However, the space is quite petite. They're open till 11pm which is great for the late night cravings. overall 10/10.
Always wanted to try it. It was lovely. The ice cream was delicious. The hot chocolate is good but it is quite thick and has a coffee texture to it. I would come back. They just need a new card machine.

Let's start with Liberty, his service was amazing. Was our first time at Moro and he explained everything from the vegan options to regular gelato. We had an awesome first time visit and ended up having seconds. The environment is clean, warm and inviting. The gelato was amazing. Awesome experience and definitely worth the visit.

It is as good as everyone says. The hit chocolate is like drinking melted chocolate. You get to choose a Gelato topping or cream. You can even keep the cute jar it comes in if you want. Nah, then I'd have to wash it. 🤣

Scoops are big, so we definitely overdid it- no regrets though.

Adorable little shop on long street with so many different flavours of ice cream. Had the strawberries and cream and black Forrest in a small cone, the cone and wafer were also both delicious. Friendly staff too, highly recommended.
