Food was alright, I thought the kingklip was pretty good. The atmosphere was lovely, with views out onto the road. When I went, it was raining, foggy and cold but they had some nice lights set up inside and it was a cute vibe.

Great honest sea food, prepared fresh & served promptly. Their Fish & Chips deserves to be famous as (when fried especially) is delicious … and even better when served with a mix of their rice and grilled vegetables. Also great value for money! We also had their rice “poké” bowl and it was a generous portion and the salmon was lovely & fresh. Finished off with the baked yoghurt cheesecake which was the perfect end to an excellent meal.

Went to O B on Sunday around 12:15. Not too busy. The rush started at around 12:40. Service was good. Food was excellent Waitron good. Different Captain. Different crew. Thanks Ocean Basket for the voucher.

Can I go back😋 Definitely a place I love eating at. Those warm rolls Friendly staff, good food ,good company. Doesn't accommodate much for children. Prefer playing space for kids so we can eat in peace. Please look into accomodating a space for kids to play, would be highly appreciated 👍

Good location with parking. Friendly staff and fresh good quality sushi. Seafood in the platter for two is delicious and satisfying. The greek salad is a great fresh side.

Average. There are other branches that do seafood much better. Portion size on a regular fish and chips is small. The fish fillet is small. Chips portion... Smaller. Not really value for money as other establishments do serve justifiable portions. Calamari was oily. Prawns mushy. Possibly a off day... However for the cost. Not worthwhile. Images do not correlate to the dishes served.

Sea Point Ocean Basket impressed me with their customer service and they aim to make your experience at Ocean Basket a good one. I had the Hake and Chips and a portion of Sushi. Definitely enjoyed our meals as they were cooked well and served hot.

I wasn't looking for a five star experience - just a quick bite down the road. HOWEVER - the service was terrible... We waited for 5 minutes to be noticed at the entrance and were then seated for 15 minutes before being greeted by our waitress. When the food came it was cold, tasteless and sans cutlery. By the time our forks and knives arrived, the temperature of the food was approaching zero degrees Celsius. To add insult to injury - I gulped a curled-up, DEAD COCKROACH on the last sip of my wine (which had clearly been deceased for some time (it may have already held its funeral by that stage! RIP!)!) and, as a result, almost retched in front of the other tables. I feel like we deserve a refund - but instead, keep our money and invest in BETTER SERVICE AND PEST CONTROL!!! Won't be back.

Wasn't my best experience in an ocean basket. ( The restaurant not an actual basket in the ocean, I'm not Moses. ) The service was slow and the food not great. All and all not a great afternoon out.

Service has always been good and the manager is very welcoming. The platter with prawns and calamari is amazing. However, I'm usually a bit disappointed with their line fish in the platter.

Decent fish, efficient service and good value for money. One of the better chain restaurants going around. Prawns and sushi hit the spot. If you're looking for real value, probably best to stay clear of the sushi.

Great value for money, as they say in South Africa. For me I favour the way they grill a fish I love , Hake, and like their chips. It's friendly and convenient to me, a good walk and always a pleasant experience in trying out their interpretations of grilled or fried fish. I like these kind of mamma and papa restaurants, they remind of Europe.

When it comes to Ocean Basket I prefer a variety and therefore I always go for the Pick Of the Ocean .. With prawns , calamari & fish ! The prawns were well prepared as we the hake ! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her mussels and prawns dish ! Sadly the biggest disappointment was the rubbery calamari ! Not the soft tubes you would expect .. Instead these were fitting to be on the Tarmac , which is least expected considering you at the coast !On the whole the food was decent , but nothing to write home about ! Service was good ! If you running out of options perhaps give it a shot ! Stay away from the calamari !

Simple franchise food, as one would expect! I always get hake and salad or the mezzo platter! They do their grilled hake and prawns quite well! Get a takeaway and stay in unless you like the vibe! it is rather a busy OB UPDATE: the mezze platter, combo platters are great!!

What a fantastic meal! The Calamari was so fresh and cooked to perfection. The salad was great! Desert was so tasty. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Service was fast. Definitely the best Calamari dish I've had. This ocean basket puts all the others to shame.

Ocean Basket is a reliable food chain - good food at a decent price, and their Sea Point branch does the brand justice. The staff were friendly and helpful and they knew what they were doing. Our food took a bit too long to arrive, but it was well made and looked good. The sushi I had was not the best I've had, but was just what I expected from Ocean Basket. The fried calamari that my table ordered was also well presented, and was well enjoyed by my fellow table member. Overall a good place to enjoy some reliable food. 70%.

I'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but I have recently become obsessed with the garlic bread starter at Ocean Basket. It is buttery, garlic-y goodness served up hot in all its unhealthy glory. I had it the first time at an Ocean Basket in Sandton and thought I'd try it again here. Note: the description says "our daily bread" covered with all the aforementioned goodness. Last time I had it, it was soft, gooey rolls. This time? Plain slices of unimpressive white bread. I was disappointed until I saw the menu. So, if you want this, first ASK what the daily bread is. No use indulging unless it is going to be great, right? As for everything else, this OB is sunny and quiet, so no complaints there.

I think this is one of the best spots in sea-point. It is affordable, well situated and the staff are friendly. I am not a major fan of franchises generally but have returned to this Ocean Basket a number of times. The seafood is great!! I especially love sitting on the street or watching the sea from upstairs. Keep it up!!

For a franchise, it really is a good spot. This one in particular has a lovely setting up above the street, and cosy on the deck. I have always had good service here, it's quick and the waitrons are always friendly and smiley. A place always also gets a tick when you get served bread or rolls once you have sat down. I opted for the simple feesh and chips, with a top up of prawns. It's great you can order anything from a salad, to veg to stir fry as your side, so no need to feel guilty eating here ;) Their food prices are reasonable, and even more so the drinks menu, all in all a great option for a quick weekday dinner!

I like Ocean Basket. It's fresh, it's served hot and it's cheap. The service is good and the ambience is very chilled (casual). Good value for money (esp the prawns)

Inexpensive seafood. The fish and chips are 40R. Hard to beat that price. Its a great location, opens right up to the sea air. Food is just okay. Nothing has ever tasted bad, but it wont be the best you've ever had. Sushi is also decent if you aren't in the mood for cooked fish.

This is the best location. Tried the other ones and it's not as good. The service is always efficient here. Kids love the fish and I love the the oysters. Great prices and love the outdoor patio looking below to sea point main rd. the wines lack a little but it's still alright. I find the seating chairs a little bit uncomfortable. But other than that it's a great place.
