Review 95 Keerom - Cape Town Central

Robyn Daniels
The food was excellent but a little over priced. Portions on the spaghetti and mussels was spot on yet the meat seemed to lack something on the medium sized plate. Over all the taste of the food was top notch the romantic lighting added a little something to the vibe as well. Definitely a place to go for a date.

This hidden gem is as authentic as it gets when it comes to real Italian food. The lightest pizza base with some "chew" to it made from a 150 year old mother yeast (this is a good thing!) and simple yet absolutely delicious toppings. Served with some Bottega Processo and Rosso wine, it was a great way to start the weekend. This was a private event I attended. They are only open for dinner. The setting is relaxed and casually elegant. Try it. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Tried black wildebeest, kudu and springbok all in one meal! The meal was described as small portions but I felt the portion was perfect! My favorite was the wildebeest by far! Also got the carpaccio with palm hearts and parmesan cheese - everything was delicious!
Philip Smith (phantaszjia)
I liked the setting. Staff were super helpful and knowledgeable. I particularly liked the steak though the fish on polenta was tasty.
Laura Mollica
Gnocchi with gorgonzola, so delicious. Service took some time to Be good, but nice ambiance.
Liz Hetherston
Wonderful meal and awesome service. I had the three antelope meat main dish which I didn't love but wanted to try. Well prepared, just not a flavor I liked. The gnocchi with gorgonzola was amazing, wonderful wine, awesome dessert...

One of best Italian restaurants in Cape Town. White Table Cloths and napkins. Very good service and tranquil atmosphere makes dinning here a pleasurable experience. Prices a little on the high side but it is good quality for the cost. Very good wine list. A restaurant always worth a visit on special occasions.
Stefano Arganese
Almost perfect... Food was good and simply prepared. The grilled fish was prepared including mussels and their sauce didn't do well to the grilled prawns, salmon and tuna. Service was very attentive and kind but then we waited for more than 30 minutes for the Meringa which we then skipped... Nice location and comfortable chairs and tables.

I was definitely impressed with 95 on Keerom. The food was good. The waiters were superb. The bar downstairs is an awesome waiting area. The head chef greets you and details the specials for the evening, but good luck in understanding him, I could not really understand the Italian chef with his thick accent.

The restaurant is simple but nicely decorated. The service was very friendly and professional. We would have hoped for a little more from the food, frankly. The food was ok, but not more. The portions (mainly side dishes) are rather small considering the prices.

Probably the best experience I had when visiting Cape Town. The restaurant is stylish, but not pretentious. The service is friendly and kind, but sometimes it takes a while to get what you want. The food is amazing, authentic Italian food. The wine list is big, giving you the chance to order the perfect wine for your night.
Darren Smith
Sophisticated, food is amazing. Steak was perfectly cooked, pasta delicious. Well trained wait staff, attentive and friendly. Good for date night or more classy dinner.

Italian food as you were in Italy!! Chef Giorgio spent some time with us explaining the dishes and it was amazing to understand the care and time needed for every dish. Even the bread, 4 different kinds, is homemade!! Outstanding!!

Beautiful dining room with magnificent brick walls, great atmosphere, delicious food and great wine list. This represents Cape Town's history and shows just how much the city has changed. The locals have invested and brought this city back on the culinary map!

Beautiful interior, lovely staff, fantastic food, wine and dessert. The grilled beef fillet was cooked perfectly. The whole experience was such a treat. Perfect for a special occasion.
Jaun Marais
Venue is very nice, service was friendly and speedy, food was ok, some was delicious, and some was less than ok. Had the rum drenched dessert...way too much rum, every mouth full was like having a neat shot of rum with some pastry and custard. Choclate mouse and brule was very good though. Carpacio tuna and salmon starter needed some salt, but was great, spinach ravioli was divine, veal shank stew was ok. Great for a nice intimate evening with a premium feel.

Just as good as it was 14 years ago! Excellent, honest food that sticks with the Italian tradition of “good food” and not “let’s-serve-food-that-people-will-publish-on-Instagram”. Go there! You will not regret it!

This is an excellent Italian style restaurant. The food quality and presentation is superb , but I do think their price on wine and still water is over the top. Come on guys your food speaks volumes ??
Rose Llewellyn
Really excellent. We had a lovely table in an area on its own so very private and special. Food and wines really top quality. One of us had the plate of three different game meats; delicious. I had a seafood plate which was superb. Service great. Can't recommend highly enough. Go!

Worst experience ever! Sat down at 8:30 for a 6 course meal. Split between three tables-we had 19 people. All tables we served each course approx ½ an hour apart. By midnight we had just been served and finished 3rd course. Wait staff was so apologetic but the manager really could care less. Will not recommend to any of our traveling friends!! Back at Cape Grace for the dinner we never ended up eating!!
Roxy Joubert
Was advised to come to this restaurant by a friend since then we have had dinner here on 3x occasion and every occasion Tnitia has been our waitress. She is excellent and has been spot on with every meal we have had including the grappa.

My experience at 95 Keerom was truly special. Surprised my wife with dinner on our 8th Anniversary and it was fantastic. From the minute we walked in we received 5 star service. Food and wine was fantastic. A true hidden gem in CT
Alison Smith
What a disappointment. We booked a table to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. When we phoned to confirm they could not find the booking so made another one. On arrival the restaurant was quite empty but they insist the you have 2 courses. What a load of rubbish. Off to celebrate elsewhere!
Shoby Mohajer
One of the best steak I ever ate! Chairs are expandable (uncomfortable) and Wine card top!
Justinne Lemkus
We loved the food! We both had starters, mains and sweets - all was amazing. My gnocchi was delicious and having an Italian grandfather I hardly ever eat pasta out. I took a chance and it was really scrumptious! Thank you we will definitely be back!!
Paul Good
My favourite restaurant in Cape Town, great food, cool surroundings and wonderful staff, what more could you ask for?
Amanda Little
The one place that will forever have a special place in my heart. Just the beautiful simplicity of the interior and friendly staff not to mention the exquisite taste of each meal I have experienced. Definitely the best restaurant in South Africa

Have been coming to this Restuarant for about 15 years and we can count on delicious food and first class service. We have seen Georgia Nava's business expand. We are still fond of 95 Keerom. Based in the uk we have sent so people to 95 Keerom and they are not disappointed. A great Restuarant.
Paul Berry
Extremely bad experience. Waited 90 minutes for a main course and when I raised the issue with the manager was told i needed to prove it!! Another member of my party received a burnt and undersized crayfish and they refused to take it off the bill. Arrogant attitude that I have never previously experienced. Strongly recommend not to go there.
Mark Welby Cooke
Main course arrived before the wine!!!!!! WTF??????????????????

What an absolute disgrace of a restaurant. Having booked 6weeks ago for 95Keerom, I arrived at 9pm to get told no tables were available. An HOUR later, we still didn't have a table. We were constantly told 'you next' but to no avail. The 'I'm sorry's' from the manageress were as comforting as salt on a wound. I walked out angry and let down. This place will NEVER see me, or anyone I know ever! Unkind regards, A very disgruntled patron

Brilliant loved it

To amazing for words

Brilliant food...brilliant restaurant!

Visited 95 Keerom on a cold night and the restaurant was cosy and inviting. The service was fine but the food lacked flavour. It is clearly pasta that has been prepared well in advance and frozen, then defrosted and drenched in reheated sauce. The result was blue cheese-filled pasta parcels that arrived tasting of nothing at all. The green salad starter (R60), although tasty, was the size of a rather small side salad comprising just a few lettuce leaves and perhaps one chopped cherry tomato.

Friends invited us to their wedding in Cape Town. The reception was at 95 Keerom. From arrival to departure, the service was great, food was stunning and having been in the wedding industry for 20 years I have seen it all. Well done to the staff and the chef.
Paul.vermeij
We very much enjoyed our dinner at 95 Keerom. I had the Carpachio, which was very good and my wife had a Caprese salad. As main I had a sliced beef, which was prepared perfectly and and my wife had a trio of game. Perfect!
Service outstanding!
Zinzerella
Do yourself a favour and order the championship pasta! It’s Diddy pasta shells in broccoli purée anchovies, fresh tomato, bread crumbs and oregano so you can just imagine the clash of flavours and textures!. I’m not at all surprised this has been an award winning dish for a few years in a row!

What’s incredible about this place is the experience is on par with the quality of food! Friendly attentive staff, ambiance and deco speaks excellence all round.

Chef is the owner, who happens to be Italian so the authenticity of the meals carries through.

Just go!

Being a lover of Italian food , I decided to give this restaurant a go..the decor is wonderful and warm whilst the service is prompt and efficient as our food was served shortly after we had ordered. However,my butternut ravioli was tasteless and bland, my meal seriously lacked flavor and I was really disappointed.
Amy Kruger
95 Keerom is definitely one of my new favorite spots in Cape Town! The menu offers a large variety of dishes that will suit any persons preferences, but their pasta dishes are simply delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the butternut and ricotta ravioli. It was a nicely sized portion and was very tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant is beautiful and makes the overall dining experience very pleasant. The service was a bit slow but we were in no rush so it didn’t phase us.

What a gem! The only reason we would choose another venue is if we decide to go to Carne on Kloof, another Giorgio Nava treasure. Choosing what to eat is a real challenge because everything is well presented at the correct temperature with optimal flavour. We are always heartily welcomed by those who recognise us and by now know our seating preferences. We love the warmth, the ambience and the attentive service. Yes, there have been slip ups in the past but we regard the staff of all the restaurants and particularly Carne as friends - yes, almost family. Our favourites? Caprese salad, hot asparagus starter, ravioli of any kind (spinach or butternut), seafood pasta, grilled rosemary fillet, pineapple carpaccio and chocolate fondant (best ever!). The wine list is superb and not exorbitant. To end a perfect meal, the quality of the espresso's and other coffees are lovely - not burnt but served hot enough. My husband loves to finish off with a hot Averna as a digestive and the baristas know exactly how it's done. Always delighted to take Italian friends and family there. Everything to be proud of!!

If you want true Italiano you've hit the right spot! It has it very own carpaccio section on the menu!
The waitress which served us was fantastic. With knowledge of the entire menu her recommendations were on point.
Try the ravioli with butternut, Fillet Tagliata and avocado salad.

Thanks for the great food guys, we will be back

I visited 95 Keerom for a fiend's birthday celebration. On arrival we were greeted by the manager Steven who immediately started chatting to us in afrikaans and mentioning that he is aware of the fact that one of us is vegetarian. We sat at the bar for a while and had 2 negroni's which were amazing. My friend had the gorgonzola gnocchi and I had the rib eye. Both our meals were amazing, melt in your mouth quality. The service was excellent and we had an amazing time. Included are photos of the mains. I forgot to take photos of the dessert. Which was out of this world. Will come back with more friends you can count on that. Oh and I expected to pay much more. Thank you everyone for a great experience.

Went to the sister restaurant, Carne Constantia, the night before ....... and were recommended this one.
My salmone & tuna tartar starter was incredible! My husband's butternut gnocchi was not as tasty as Carne.
My main of gnocchi with Gorgonzola & walnut was also very good.
However service was absolutely shocking ..... we waited one hour between starter and main course "because there is a function downstairs".
Georgia Blueberrii
Food was amazing. Took me forever to even narrow it down to a couple of options because everything judt sounds so good. Best spinach & ricotta ravioli in cape town (which I am in love with) served with a sage butter sauce. Tartares were phenomenal and superb carpaccio. The only issue is that the bill is printed very differently to all other restaurants and ends up leaving the waiters short as the total isnt printed where you think it. When we tried to address the manager about this he was extremely rude and just blew us off. Also not the first unpleasant encounter we've had with this manager. He comes across as very arrogant and disrespectful towards staff and patrons. Would go back pretty much every night but sometimes just don't have the energy to deal with him

Just simply one of the favorite places! Nice food, perfect service, and great spot with cool vibe . Highly recommended for family and friends evening
Epikoros
Most likely the best - and most authentic Milanese restaurant in Cape Town. 95 Keerom has stood the test of time and is probably one of the longest surviving restaurants in the CBD.

Standout dishes are the ravioli with burnt sage butter & steak fiorentina. However I'm happy to eat any of the dishes.

I have been to 95 Keerom a couple of times and have always he's a good time there. The restaurant is surprisingly stylish and simple inside, located just off the hustle and bustle of Long Street.

The staff there are incredibly attentive to detail and the service was excellent. All of our food was delicious and I really enjoyed the extensive carpaccio menu. I always get the salmon and tuna carpaccio and find it delicious every time. The lamb chops were also some of the best chops that I have ever tasted!

Exquisite in every possible way. I had VIPs from Brasília and suggested this restaurant knowing we wouldn't beber down. Amazing service. Cullinary Italian of the highest skills and quality. Fortunately we were taken and collected, parking wasn't a problem. It gets quite busy at night. Outstanding wine and the coup de grace was to me the desserts. Elegant, superior quality.

Tucked away in Centre of Cape Town ( and easy to miss if you don't know exactly where it is - thank goodness for car guard directions😀)
Very nice vibe to Keerom especially up the stairs to main dining room.
We had an excellent Springfield Work of Time cab Sav 2009. Outstanding
Starters were the award winning chefs special pasta which apparently won gold at international competition a few years back. Interesting combination of tastes.
For mains we had L'Osso Buco alla Milanese - stewed veal shanks
Il Filetto di Manzo - grilled beef fillet
La Tagliata al Rosmarino - sliced fillet grilled with oil garlic and rosemary
Accompanying side was Parmesan mashed potato
Dinner plates swept clean was testament to a superb meal
Desserts was gelato- real Italian freshly made ice cream
Service was good if blighted by infrequent disappearing acts. Where do they go??!!
Someone please enlighten us😜
95 Keerom proved once again why it is among the top restaurants in Cape Town

What a lovely evening spent with family friends for a small birthday dinner. Food was wonderful. Service impeccable. Spectacular time all round.

The tree in the restaurant is extraordinary. Good service, very good food and an overall good experience. The vibe in the restaurant is smart casual and quite old but the food is authentic and the puddings are delicious.

Lekker lekker

Other than a slightly cheeky "Starter and main course for each diner" requirement, a fantastic dinner venue. Extremely element surroundings with the fantastic tree in the dining area giving character. Tuna and Salmon with Avo starter was fresh and flavourful (just pipping the octopus salad as a choice) and the lobster linguini simple yet very satisfying. Lots of choices on offer on menu and service appropriately attentive
Stacy Scott
Food was amazing and the design of the restaurant is stunning but as for the staff. No one attended to us after 10 minutes, got delivered the wrong drink, no hostess to greet or say goodbye as well as the bill that was brought without our table asking.
Bonnie Stuchbury
Went for dinner this week and we were very disappointed.

The 'tickler'on arrival was delicious, this was a crumbed mussel. The bread basket was then brought to the table and this too was awesome so I couldn't understand why the place was empty.

We shared the butternut ravioli main as a starter and it was tasteless and small. I had the veal shank which again had very little flavour. My spinach side was plain, chopped spinach cooked to black so I didn't eat it. My husband had the lamb chops which were okay but not worth the price. His chocolate fondant was nice but you have to order ice cream as an extra.

They then give you little meringues with the bill which is a nice touch so there is a mixed bag of good and bad.

Over all the meal was so expensive for half okay food.

Heard such great things about 95 Keerom and decided to try it out for my birthday dinner. When we got there the host was very welcoming and we were quickly seated at our table, but then didn't see our waiter for quite a while after that. By the time he eventually arrived at our table we were ready to order both our drinks and food, though we had hoped to order our wine first.

The wine selection is quite varied, but very few wines are served by the glass. I ordered the gnocchi with gorgonzola and walnuts and my friend ordered the ravioli. Within 10 minutes of ordering, our food arrived but we hadn't even received our wine yet. My gnocchi was delicious and the gorgonzola wasn't too overpowering which was great. We then ordered the fondant for dessert which was delicious and rich, but we were so full that we couldn't finish it all.

Overall the food was delicious but for a fine dining establishment I was a little underwhelmed. The service was at times lacking and at one stage when my friend ordered a glass of water there was a lipstick stain on the glass

With carne being owned by the same person, my expectations were very high for 95 Keerom. On arrival, the space is very pleasant and the welcoming was great. From there on, it just became a little average.

The waiter was on his mobile rather then paying attention and the starters were bland, for my taste. The mains were much better but not WOW. Just good food at a fair price. Even the award winning pasta, was... just okay.

Specified on the menu, is a clause stating : starter and main per person for dinner, minimum. I think that's a little cheeky!

So a beautifully tucked away restaurant with attention to detail and wonderful decor. We had the live crayfish linguine! An amazing dish full of flavour and crayfish. The waiter were attentive and dessert wonderful!

I had big expectations...for one of the best restaurants.it start with the bad surprise that an Italian restaurant doesn't have risotto. Then we asked for more bread (and I'm still waiting for it 😡) the main was tuna and polenta, it was good. For dessert...the 95...over sweet and almost on the end of the meal...the waitress brought the napkins to the table, while eating my desert it interrupted to ask if I wanted coffee and even saying no....they brought the coffee..... Really bad service! Food? Just okay...

One of the Great Italian restaurants in Cape Town with the best lobster pasta everything we've had is fantastic! I highly recommend this place one of my favorites.

Went to 95 Keeron on Friday. Loved the sophisticated vibe, moody lighting and great decor. They had a good wine selection and the complimentary bread basket was fresh and oh so delicious - a night full of guilty carbs :) we had the award winning pasta as a starter. It wasn't to my liking - but i don't particularly like the strong flavour of anchovies. I had the gnocci - light fluffy clouds of happiness in a delicous creamy cheese sauce... mmmm. Also tried the canneloni and ravioli. And then to end things off we shared a velvety oozy chocolate fondant. Will definetly go back.

My absolute favorite Resturant in Cape Town! You can expect the best quality food here! It's definitely worth every cent and it is definitely a fine dining experience :) From the pasta to the steak and fish... Everything is cooked to perfection!

Featured in the pictures: Carpaccio, Line fish, and Eaton mess!

One of my top 10 restaurants in the country and yes I know the country quiet well. Dinner here about two weeks ago was magical. My collegue is a meat lover and i wanted fish and this is one of the few stops in town that will give you the best of both worlds.

My tuna was out of this world and he raved about his beef as well, oh well you cant be sisters with Carne and not have the best meat.

Great ambience, amazing service from the guys, who go as far as escorting you to the bathrooms, not point where they are , like take you. Doesnt hurt that its conveniently tucked aaway in a nice corner in town .

Debating whether to go there or Carne for dinner tonight. #NICElifeProblems. #Decisions

Absolutely amazing! Food is expensive but well worth it's price, it's cooked to perfection and paired with a great wine list. We had an extremely attentive waiter.
Foodhunter
Seriously overpriced for what you get. Whilst the food is good and service not bad it is extremely underwhelming. The food and portions lack generosity. Sides need to be ordered separately in order for the already overpriced main in order to be full.
Phoebe Kondylis
Absolutely love this place. The interior is welcoming and warm. The breadsticks are moreish, service is sublime and the food is even better. Their caprese salad is one of the best I've had and the potato dish is heavenly

I really enjoyed my time here. I'm not much of a fan of the "hotel" feel but they manage to pull it off. The ambience is nice and cosy. It's a place I can come for various occassions. The service was good, waiter knew his menu and he was friendly and made some excellent recommendations. Food was absolutely brilliant. Overall rating 8.5/10.

A delightful restaurant definitely worth checking out.

Tell someone.
Bekah Knight
simply and tastefully decorated - although it does resemble a hotel restaurant. Our table sampled the carpaccio and steak tartare as starters which were equally excellent. We also sampled the broccoli pasta - an award winner for the chef which was surprising as it was very bland. Main meals were mostly a success although my Tuna steak was over done and not much flavour - a let down after the starters. For dessert - a very delicious chocolate fondant and finely sliced pineapple carpaccio - highly recommended.
Good and knowledgeable waiters - although the manageress was oddly casually dressed for such an establishment favoured mostly by business men and women

Still my favourite place in Cape Town that's for sure!! Awesome food and venue! I loved the wine and atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon!!

My friends picked 95 Keerom over some other options in the area because it offered a few more options for vegetarians like myself. I'm very glad they did because the meal was very enjoyable and the entire experience was truly memorable. I'd say the single biggest standout was the exceptional service, right from the hostess to the server. Everyone was very courteous and professional. The place is a fine-dining establishment but the vibe is so friendly that no one at our table felt out of place even though some folks were in very casual outfits. The wine selection was excellent, especially the Pinot Noir, and the cool thing is they also let us bring in our own bottle in addition, so the BYOB aspect gets a special shout out from me. The food was good, although I suspect the meat, poultry, and seafood dishes were far superior (I was told the Carpaccio may be the best in the city). I was happy with my grilled vegetables (antipasti), butternut squash ravioli (entree), and was over the moon with the delectable chocolate fondant (dessert). I tasted several other desserts on the table and they were all quite spectacular. I'd definitely recommend the place to others.

This is the first Italian place I have visited that does not serve pizza. I suppose for a fine dining establishment pizza doesn't make the cut. We had mains and dessert as the starters available did not appeal to us. The special shell pasta with broccoli (apparently the chef won an award for this dish in Italy) was chewy, dry and lacked flavour. The tuna equally lacked flavour. Desserts saved the meal for us...the choc fondant was heavenly and the pineapple drenched in a sweet citrus syrup was pleasant. I heard the gnocchi and the ravioli are tasty but I would only try that if I was forced to visit the restaurant again. The service was good. I liked the decor and to quote a friend, "it has a very Scandinavian feel to it"....but who wants to visit a restaurant to enjoy the decor?
Candice Buitendach
I was excited to eat here as I had heard good reviews. The red wine was my favourite part of the night. The beef carpaccio starter was good. For mains I chose the mussels. In a tomato and garlic sauce, sounds delish. A colleague of mine had the rib-eye (you read correct) the rib-eye. I had tossed between the two, so vowed I would taste theirs too. Our mains arrived, and I was vocally horrified at what my colleague had received. Two grey pieces of thin, thin meat. Turns out it was veal rib-eye! Quite a big thing to forget to mention on the menu. My mussels were ok but had a funny stench which left me wondering if they were definitely 'ok'. I wouldn't go back. Sorry.
Sarah Klopper
This restaurant was not only over priced for the tiny portions that were received, but my meal arrived cold! Their only saving grace was the chocolate fondant.
Theo.watson
Simply the finest Italian restaurant in Cape Town...and possibly South Africa.

Between the fillet, done to blue perfection, and the tuna steak, fresher than one could ask for, I thought I was done...until the chocolate fondant...quite literally a little piece of heaven.

Amazing restaurant - I cannot wait to return.

What an absolute disgrace of a restaurant. Having booked 6weeks prior we were told our table was not ready and that we would have to wait a few minutes. Over an hour later us and other patrons were still waiting. The manageress just kept saying sorry sorry sorry you next in line. We then asked how long the food would be when we eventually would get a table. The waiter told us at least 45 min. We finally walked out.
