Review Beerhouse On Long - Cape Town Central

Wael Dalati
An always amazing place for cold great selection of beers. Just state the mood you are up to and the waiter will do the rest. Well done and they have burgers to die for 😍
Andrew Swerdlow
Decent place for a beer on Long St. I sat outside on the balcony, a bit smokey but nice atmosphere. I went with the flight which was pretty good.
Del Hay
Huge beer selection. Staff were friendly and recommended a few beers to us. Only gave 3 for the atmosphere as when we went there was no-one else there, it was fairly early on a Thurday evening so maybe it gets busier later.
Christopher Becher
Located in the CBD, this is exactly what I was looking for as a beer lover. Had plenty of local beers from South Africa and a giant flight wheel (called the Beer O'Clock) to try them all! Great place to sit on the patio and watch out over downtown Cape Town.
Muluba Princess
Never disappoints. The food and drink prices are definitely worth it. There is live entertainments (depending on the day of the week) and the staff are great and professional. Recommended budget is at least R150, depending on your plans for the evening (remember to tip :) they work hard and deserve it)
Katherine Wade-Lehman
This is my go-to place on Long Street. It's fun and vibey. Great service during quieter times. Bar service is obviously slower during busier times, but still good. You'll enjoy your night out here, for sure!

Quality service from Gugu food was warm and fresh. An atmosphere to die for during sunset 😍

Great Vibe! Perfect for a fun lunch or afternoon with friends or a casual date. Good selection of drinks (even though a few items were out of stock) Cocktail was okay, would rather stick to cider or beer next time. We also had chicken strips and jalapeño poppers, very delicious! Perfect for sharing. Will definitely return.
Andreas Buergelt
What a great selection of Beer. It feels like beer heaven. So many different kinds of bottle or draft beer. Unbelievable
After 2018 it was my second but not my last visit here. I will come back again

Had a above average first experience. Maybe the thirst and hunger. But we enjoyed it alot. My girlfriend had the strawberry beer. Was not bad at all. I had the cbc weiss . Beers aren't cheap, but it's craft beer. So reasonable. We both ate a pizza. I ate the pizzahouse. Nice burn , great taste. She ate the Lit! Was also nice. Couldn't wait to take photo, both pizzas have a bite away. Sorry about that! Only downfall was that there was only one waiter. For +-10 tables. Felt sorry for her. Did her best. As I said not the cheapest. All in all. Recommended.

This place is awesome. It might even be the best bar I've been to at the Waterfront. Very clean, plays Pop/EDM type of dance music. The food was fresh and delicious. I love that it wasn't too packed. Everyone has space to dance. The DJ was on fireeeeeee. It made a great first impression on me. đŸ„łđŸ„łđŸ„łđŸ„ł

every visit to the beer house is super fun and pleasurable. there are so many beers on tap to choose from, with great cocktails and ciders also. the staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about their products and are able to advise you well. you can even get a flight of beers to try if you are wanting to sample a lot of the different options. highly recommend!

Epic and the vibe was extremely electrifying. The Service from the waiter Gugu shows how great the leadership of the Establishment are. Gugu really went all out to make sure our experience was a memorable one.
Nick Banas
Easily one of the best places to get a beer on long street. So many options, easy to order a flight, and they have an amazing balcony that looks over the street. Haven't been at night, but apparently they have a DJ? Count me in.
Clive Jobs
Loved every bit of beer hse as it's a cool hang out and chill with friends joint.they have a large variety of beers and have nice tasty finger food which complements the beer. We popped in after the seven's rugby for a sneaky pint and a quick bite to eat. This was a little after 21h00 on a Saturday eve 9 December 2017. There was a vibe there and with that vibe a fair amount of people. When we arrived, we were not greeted and had to find our own table for 6 people. This was not ideal, but we understood that the venue was busy. Once seated, the waiters kept walking past and ignoring us. Eventually I got up and flagged down a waitress who eventually came and took our order. Again, we chalked it up to being busy. Drinks arrived, no problem. We then ordered our meal, again no issue there. After what seemed to be a really long time, meals finally started arriving. Four of the six orders arrived. The waitress then came and apologized, the meal my wife had ordered, was apparently out of stock. Not sure why they waited so long to tell us this, but regardless, my wife ordered and a little while later her meal arrived. All this time and I had still not received my meal. Eventually I got up and tried to find our waiter (who was nowhere to be seen). I went to the bar the bar staff managed to track down my waiter. I asked here where my food was and she scuttled of to find out. When she came back, she gave me some story about someone else taking my order and that my meal would be 5 minutes... by now everyone else had already finished their meals. 20 minutes later my meal arrived, without the side order of chips.... which took another 10 minutes to arrive. By the time I got my meal, the area in which we were seated had become a night club and we could no longer hear each other speak. I grudgingly wolfed down my meal as everyone was clearly uncomfortable due to the loud music. The empty plates were not cleared for the duration of the experience, and people kept bumping our table trying to dance... not ideal on a very full table full of sauces and bones. After my very rushed meal, we wanted to settle up and get out of there asap... Once again had to go searching for our waiter. When the bill arrived, it was nearly midnight. I understand that the venue was busy, but someone could have at least tried to make some form of apology to us for the atrocious service. I couldn't even vent my frustration by not tipping, because a forced service charge was included in our bill. Then to top it all off, when we tried to leave, there was so many people trying to get into the place, that I had to fight my way out of the venue. All in all, not a great experience at all... which is a pity because the beer was cold and meal was good...

This place could be awesome, but it's not. The beer selection is literally out of this world but I can only assume that they bank on that to get the quick buck. The service was soulless; the bar guy joked 'So I can make R79, R89 with my tip right?'. I joked back that he could if he topped my beer up to match my friend's (as he'd added so much head to mine it was a rip off). It was met with stony silence from him & defensiveness about beer portions from some other, uninvolved staff member. Not a single staff member attempted to engage but worst of all, the woman's toilet had excrement all over the wall and floor... at 4pm! They finally blocked it off but it was truely disgusting and you could not fail to smell this from 2m away. Has amazing potential but management need a different perspective to make it great.

I went to Beerhouse for the 1st time on Wednesday 31st of Jan with a friend who had reccomended the place. I did an over the phone booking when i arrived my name was on the table(loved that) but then waited a while to be served we had to ask for a waitress to help us finally we got one lady with long red braids she seemes nice and took our order. The food came before the beer wierd, half way through our meal a waitress takes our utensil and wipes holder away now we are sitting there with no wipes after having sticky ribs for like 20min cos our waitress keeps wizzing past us, we can't seem to get her attention. My friend asks for a different sauce from 3 different people including our waitress who she asked multiple times took her an hour to get it for us our top ups were taking btwn 20 and 30min while other tables were taking 10min. I liked the place, food and the vibe but the service spoilt it all for me.
Eugene Stoumann
I wouldn't give you even one star. Don't promote bottomless ribs if you can't deliver. We ordered at 20:00 and by 22:00 have still not received anything or even a word from the waiter. When explaining this to the manager the only reply we got was that he is sorry and can't help. For every drink we ordered we had to go get the waitress to follow up on our order. Some structure and better staff need to be implemented.
Gabby Magnani
This place is great. Really cool atmosphere, selection of beer and ciders is amazing. Prince did all he could to assist us and was really helpful. Would highly recommend a visit here, especially on a Friday or Saturday nights.
Sean Jacobs
Just had the rib special. Ribs are dry and way to smokey, you smell like a braai fire after eating them. Nice portion, sad about the quality. Service is very anti personal, more interaction betweeƆ waiters and clients will secure bigger tips. Won't rush back if ever.
Jason Hubbs
If my wife happens to lose me for an extended time frame during our stay in Cape Town I just might be hanging out at this local establishment. I think I might become a "NON Alcoholic" now after 16 days of not finding a non alcoholic beer in Africa. I have never tasted beers this amazing and unique. Great drinks and amazing eats. If there was a 5 thumbs up that is what I would rate this place.
Jaco Van Wyk
So we went to beerhouse last night 13 December. We got there just before 20:00 and the vibe was good. They seated us in the club part of the venue. So like you know they have a all you can eat ribs special on wednesday and we were quite hungry so we ordered our food straight away. We waited 2 hours and still we have not received our food. So we asked the waiter what is going on and she said that she will find out how far our food is. She never came back. So we just stood up and asked for the bill at the manager (Chris) and told him what happened. All he said is sorry turned his back and went back to what he was busy with. Worst service I have ever had.
Karl Liebenberg
Still sitting at table as i'm typing. It is now 21:21. We arrived at 20:15 from Durbanville after ubering that cost us R270 to come to a place which TONIGHT has got zero to no service. Very dissapointed. If you advertise a "special" bottomless ribs. Be prepared. Ill come back as I had great times here before. Hopefuly things would be better planned.

My boyfriend and I meet up with 2 other friends here last night for a drink and a meal. We ordered 2 delicious burgers with sweet potato fries that my bf and I were happy with, but when my friends’ meal of the margarita pizza and chicken tacos arrived, you could see that we could’ve bought a better frozen pizza from PnP! It really dampened our night as they were looking forward to a delicious meal and could only handle a few bites. You could clearly see the pizza wasn’t made by hand. Will probably only be coming here for drinks from now on.
Mouton
Lekker vibe, awesome beer, very creative menu design. We ordered from the snack menu and it was ok, the pap chips was exceptionally nice!
We’ll be back for more.

Do you love a wide selection of beer? Then this is the place for you.

Beer selection is great, decor is quirky and eye catching. Service is decent.

Thumbs up.

Great place to go out and spend with friends. Loads of beer options available and some nights live entertainment. I would visit again when in the area.
A lovely spot on Long Str for after work drinks or an early supper mid week. The space is nice and open with a nice breeze coming in from the balcony.

The service can be slow however. I'm not a beer fan and the waiter was really helpful in helping choose what to drink. I had the strawberry Kopperburg and it was really good. To eat I shared a pulled pork pizza and it was filling even though I had to add salt.

Really nice spot to just unwind.
Julia Van Der Westhuizen
I absolutely love Beerhouse on Long. We hardly ever go into town without visiting the Beerhouse. Best selection of beers, waiters always friendly, such a nice vibe and truly anyone is welcome there. Looking forward to our next visit and to try the scrumptious food!

So Sunday I get the cravings - a dangerous thing if the craving monster is not satisfied.
The craving is for beer and food and variety is the key - so off to Beerhouse we go
I feel like a lot of different bites of food but most important - the crackling - oh my - the crackling...
I notice the Christmas lunch & dinner special - R150.00 - it is a good price

Comment to Management: The beer brined chicken - it was not so good. No flavor & very dry 😑

We also shared pork ribs / pulled pork / pork belly - this was excellent

Everything else was excellent - food / service and beer - yeah beer - yummy - craving monster controlled - phew😅
Jessica Jeftha
Brilliant spot to hang out after work or just with friends. Food and drinks were great (try the Beerhouse burger) and the service even better :)

I had an awesome birthday party! Our waiter Brian (if I remember correctly) was fun! I particularly liked the service because all the waiters were attentive and willing to help anywhere they can even though it wasn’t their table. The silent disco afterwards was the highlight! Thanks once again 😊

I went there on Friday night and i must say this place wat LIT....
Initially the crowd was okok but as the time passed, I don't whether it was the drinks which tripped everyone or the place... But it was damn cool...
Also the beers here are awesome... You will definitely get the type of beer you want
Definitely won’t be left disappointed if you are a beer fanatic. I tried the Explorer tray of beers, which is a selection of 6 beers that are displayed with all the flavor notes on a board. I will try the food next time, only tried to nibble on the beer-salt flavoured popcorn. The food that I saw other tables having looked good enough for me to want to try next time.

This is a good pub and restaurant. I had the Amasi fried chicken tacos and they were excellent. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lively. The beer selection is very good and seating is abundant for the space with additional seating outside on the terrace. My only complaint was the amount of cigarette smoke entering the building from the number of people smoking on the terrace. Aside from that an excellent experience.
Beni Kabuluku
Honestly one of the best places to be watch the World Cup. Great beer, their food absolutely bangs and it provides extreme value for money. The atmosphere is always great especially when the teams playing score goals. Thumbs up Beerhouse!
Dahowlett
What can you say about a place that offers 99 beers and plenty of local draft beers PLUS food? Awesome value for money, great service. Food isn’t terrific but then the cost is minimal. Avoid the ribs. Mine were smoked to death.
Jan-Hendrik Vermaak
Nice beer joint. Wide range of beers and relaxed vibe. Service is good and the staff are friendly. Had a beer during lunch in the week, so not lively but perfect for a pub lunch.
Cape Foodie
Dropped in on a Friday night, place was bustling and full. We were quickly ushered to an open table and drinks promptly brought. The food felt like an afterthought. I ordered the chicken burger, served on an anemic white bun, and oozing with mayo and lettuce. It reminded me of the KFC zinger burger but less tasty. I did like that you could choose from a range of sides and the sweet potato fries were tasty. My partner had the fish and chips and that was good - fresh fish, light crispy batter. Good service, average food.
Yajna Gold
The butter fried, chicken burger is AMAZING, served with slaw and sweet potato chips - I also love the beer tasting platters, I am a fan of the flamkuchen (not everyone's fav, as it is not exactly a pizza) and a few other things at this famous CT venue!
Anthonie Lombard
Beer was okay, but I have never had the displeasure of eating such tough an dry beef ribs in my life. Luckily it wasnt the 500g as per the menu but probably more in the 250g range. I guess their “smoker” wasn’t used as they state on the menu. We also had the Eisbein which was very difficult to eat. Extremely disappointed in the food. Service was okayish.
Lucinda Villain
Took my husband here today for the first time and as an avid beer lover he enjoyed it thoroughly. We had the Eisbein and Chicken Tacos which were both delightfully crispy. And of course we couldn't pass on the Beer Float for dessert. Great service from our waiter throughout the visit.

Beerhouse on Long Street is definitely one for the beer lovers and with its bright yellow signage and building, it will be hard to miss. In fact, they offer twenty-five (25) taps and ninety nine (99) bottles of imported and local beers, so if you can't find a beer you like in that mix, you should stick to wine.

This was my first visit to Beerhouse's Cape Town offering, but I have frequented both the Fourways and Centurion branches so it was nice to see where it all began..
Long Street itself, over the years, seems to have gotten quite dingy unfortunately so at night, its probably not the place to walk alone but security on the door is decent so once inside, you feel safe.

On the whole, the service was quick, and the beers cold so I couldn't really ask for more, but I didn't enjoy the DJ on shift the evening that we visited so I was quite happy to head to a different bar.

*Recommendation: One for the hardcore beer enthusiasts!

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

Beer Explorer - Nice first try as a drink at Beerhouse. Love this place, awesome vibe, spacious, good variety of drinks and food and friendly staff! Still need to go try out their food - but by the looks of it, I can't wait to!
Katherine Hall
Lovely soaking up the long street vibe on the balcony and drinking their crisp beers. Food: the burger was good, not amazing. The pulled pork roll was too salty-quite a disappointment. We left the coleslaw that came with the burgers as we don't eat coleslaw. Pity that was the only side and risky as most people eat a Greek salad or starch(chips, mash etc) with their food .A little disappointing that one has to pay extra for sides!
Coenraad Loubser
Incredible selection of beer, good food to match (and that includes good lunch specials!) and knowledgeable, friendly staff! If you want beer with your food, you better budget for two... otherwise your food will arrive just as you finish your first beer... and the second beer will come just as you finish your food...
Marentia Van Kasterop
The Beerhouse was a great stop after the Cape Town marathon. Always a favourite 😁😁

Really awesome choice of beer abd good food in the middle if Cape Town.

What more can one ask for?

If you haven't tried them, you should 😋
Jessica Lew-Muñoz
The food was surprisingly delicious! Their burgers and hot chips are nice. Casual experience during lunch. Highly recommend beer lovers to check it out!
Sita
The service was okay - it could do with some improvement though. The vibe is good, and I'd say it's a nice place to chill at on Long. There's an extensive range of beer types, and even if you don't particularly have a palette for beer, they do have a sweeter-tasting one. The tasting trays are great if you want to experiment with the different types.

I think they could work on their cleanliness, especially during the day. Sticky, grimey tables before your meal arrives is off-putting. The food is okay - I guess that's not their expertise.
Aletha Jeftha
I've been here a number of times - thanks to the Entertainer. You are definitely spoilt for choice when it comes to beers (they literally have 99 bottles of beer on the wall). However the food can be a bit of a hit and miss.

I enjoyed the beef burger and sweet potato fries - solid meal. Did not like the veggie flammkuchen - the beer taste in the flatbread/crust was very evident - and it was "baked" for too long, because it was beyond the point of crispy. The mushroom veggie burger tasted like it was twice fried and they were not shy with the cheese - so it was quite rich.

I'd probably come back for the sweet potato fries and just the beer.

Update: returned to try out the new menu. Food is still, meh. Service still takes light years.

Ending off a hectic week with a few friends, the exceptional service and laid back vibe made for an evening to be at ease. Enjoying from a large variety of beer, one that suits you.Chad Le Roux

The best place to go for a vibe with friends.

We really enjoyed visiting beerhouse the other day because it's a great place to chill with friends and it even turns into a place to dance as the night goes on. The abundance of beer on tap coupled with the gray tasting and freshly made food makes it an awesome place to visit. You definitely have to go more than once to try the beers or simply do a beer tasting which is great value for money!
Lezandi Fourie
Oh my goodness. With all the choices, you definitely can't visit Beerhouse once.
After being explained the menu by our friendly waiter we ordered our first round and some popcorn for the table.
If beer isn't your thing, there is mooore than enough other options, from ginerbeer to iced tea cocktails.
My ribs-loving friend was very satisfied with his order, The burgers are also good. The patties are meatball-like, and seem handmade.
The giant onion rings really are giant.
Witth regards to seating, I would recommend the balcony: looking down on buzzing Long street made the experience even more authentic and memorable.
Patience
Was there earlier today and it was my first time being there. I have to say I like the place, the staff are friendly and attentive which is refreshing as this weekend has been full of shocking behaviors. I like the ambience it's very relaxed and you can go sit there for a nice cold beer. The flavors are so crazy though iv never in my life seen that many beer flavors neither did I know there were that many so I enjoyed my beer and will be back soon to try another flavor. Their food was good too I had their sweet potato fries and ribs which were amazing, my only problem was that the malva pudding was a bit dry and the custard sickeningly sweet. Otherwise I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a nice relaxed afternoon/evening.
Nqobile Msibi
This is the perfect place to go if you're looking to convert your friends to beer drinkers. I'm not a beer drinker but I came here one night and was given a beer that changed my perception entirely. The place gets very crowded so the service isn't that great but given the numbers it does well. This is definitely an international hotspot.
Nikita Cloete
I really enjoyed the Sunday lunches, but since my last encounter I can't say that I still feel the same. Sure, the beer is awesome, but maybe that is what the main focus should be on.
Nadia Janse Van Rensburg
Def not for a foodie snop... student... def a spot for a certain crowd. Beer... super nice. Food... horrible. If you want beer then def go for a few pins😂
Samantha Moodley
Before I went to Beerhouse I read some of the reviews. As a result I had high expectations. Unfortunately these were not met. Really really poor service, ribs that tasted like they had been cooked a few times and then put in a fridge before they brought to the table, a mojito that was average and seating that's uncomfortable to say the least. It does have a good view of Long Street night life though...and my husband liked the beer selection...
Amy Marriner
Went there for lunch today and the food was Amazing! It was well priced and very friendly service. The restaurant was very empty however as it doesn't have the appearance that it is open for lunches. All in all good experience
Mikaela
One of my all time favourite spots to grab a drink! If you love beer you'll love beerhouseđŸ» If you're struggling to choose a drink out of the hundreds of beers available, give the Apollo Blonde or the Jack Black lager a try. They do cater for non-beer lovers as well, but the options are much smaller.

Beerhouse does tend to get super busy so try and go early to grab a table (preferably one outside as inside can be very loud).
Sibusiso Highly Favoured Msomi
Waisted for over 15 min to be served.Ended up going to the bar to get drinks. I wasn't the only one, even other people on adjacent tables had the same issue!!
Julian Meyer
One is really spoilt with that many drink options. (also had refreshing ginger beer) I had some "tapas" style bar snacks in the form of the biggest onion rings I have ever seen, avocado roled in coconut then fried as well as some bacon on a stick...it was all absolutely delicious (no joke's)
Jana Ferreira
What I love most about Beer House is the beer! Surprise, surprise.

There's just so much to choose from; there's no way you'll walk out with a bad taste in your mouth.

I would recommend gathering your mates and heading for the balcony with good vibes in mind. Take a laid back approach, because service can be slow due to the sheer numbers of people flocking to their favourite watering hole. Food should be your second priority here; I mean the beer is the star of the show after all. So don't expect anything too fancy. Their food is perfect for finger-style eating or sharing.

Go on, let your hair down, be a little loud, and chug your best beer!
Martin Slabber
Love this place......good vibe.love the big veriaty of beers and the burger are good as well....thumbs up al the way.can't wait to come back

Beer house is a great place; have been there many times and am always happy with the food, drinks as well as the service. Not convinced they crack a 4.0 score from me though.
I, myself, am not a huge beer fan - but I like that they have some less hopsy tasting stuff like the Fiery Ginger Dragon Beer and Liefmans Fruitesse - two of my all time favorite drinks.
Waiters seem to be pretty on the ball, and well-educated when it comes to the beer.
Great place to meet friends for drinks; they have some nice long tables too which is great if you have a larger crowd.
Ulisha Moodley
Been to beerhouse a few times. I don't drink beer as I've just never been into it but sashen enjoys it now and then and so do our friends. They have tons of different beers (over 101) the last time I checked.
The setting is very laid back which is cool. It's nice that you can experience a bar vibe and a little bit of intimacy as they have booth seating as well.
I also tried out their Biltong as we got a bit snacky. Service is slightly slow, especially when they're busy.
FoodMissionary
Coming from Holland their bitterballen do need some more work, the crispiness is not up to scratch. Other than that I enjoy going to Beerhouse, specifically on a Tuesday for the pubquiz. The quiz master is amazing! They serve typical pub food with any type of beer you can imagine, from Belgium to the US - their beer menu is like a book! I enjoy the burgers and Flamkuchen with fresh pesto.

If you want to have a fun night out with a group on friends I can recommend going on a Tuesday at 19:30. Book beforehand because the quiz can get quite crowded.
Cynthia
If you are a beer enthusiast then this place is for you. Over 100 beers to choose from international and local. and if you don't know what beer to try, they offer tasters to make the decision easier. There are wines, ciders etc to try if beer is not for you. On a nice warm day, would suggest getting there early to get a seat on the balcony overlooking Long Street.
Charu Bhartia
We ordered for onion rings and they were so bland! Not good. The beer tasting was still ok. However the most annoying thing was that while paying the bill, the waiter kept the change with himself as a tip without even telling us! And on asking for the change he rudely said that we shouldn't take a table next time we come, we should stand at the bar. He was the one to give us that table! Such a shame. That's how they behave with the guests!
Rita Van Eck
Beerhouse is my favourite pub on Long Street, and arguably, in the whole CBD!

They have everything: great beer, a chilled vibe, delicious food, great beer, a balcony to watch the world go by from
did I mention the beer?

In a very small amount of time, this spot-me-from-afar-yellow building with its 99 different beers has become a must-visit spot in the Cape Town kuier scene.

If you love the hoppy brew, or if you have not yet been converted, visit Beerhouse. You’ll never think of beer the same way again.

**2019 UPDATE**
So, Beerhouse is still a firm favourite for me when it comes to beer and their balcony, but sadly the food has been a let-down twice in a row.

Their burgers are way too saucy. You can’t create flavour just by pouring weird sauces all over a burger. And the meat fillings (I’ve had the Amasi Chicken and the Pulled Pork) were both disappointing. The sweet potato chips are also WAY TOO OVERSPICED. (I don’t use shouty capitals often, but this is necessary.) The herbs don’t compliment the natural flavours of the sweet potato and there was far too much salt involved.

The service was also not up to scratch. We were there midday, so it was basically empty, and our waiter forgot three of our very simply requests. That’s not on.

The Lagunitas IPA was the saving grace of the day. What a fantastic import!

Beerhouse, you remain one of my favourite places and I’ll always root for you, but please, please, please: fix the food and fix the service. I’d hate to see such a legendary establishment become a place that ‘used to be great’.
Barbara Ann Hall
Typical pub grub to be had here! Relaxed, casual place to stop over in Long Street for a quick bite and a pint (or three)😂
Sit upstairs and watch the passers by......
I did however feel that it lacked atmosphere as it's quite a large area. There are cosier, more interesting places on Long Street to visit😏
Trevor Pols
What a great place for a hangout with friends! They have the best selection of beer I have ever seen! I have unfortunately not tried the food yet, but that will hopefully change soon as I have heard the burgers are pretty good!

I will update the score once I've tried the burgers!
Richa Khataw
Amazing vibe & one of the best fruit beers i've ever had but the food was not so great
I Love Foodies
So, Beerhouse. Let me say upfront that my history of beer includes taking first sips of my dad’s beer whenever I go home and a handful of fond memories of my student days in the USA. Other than that, my experience with beer is pretty limited. Also, I have horrible memories of eating hops a few weeks ago (let’s just say I have friends who were thoroughly amused) and almost dying in the process. Note to anyone curious: Never, never, never, never, never eat hops. It’s a terribly bad idea. Anyway, so when I found myself at the Meet the Brewers beer-and-food pairing event at the Beerhouse on Long Street earlier this week, I wasn’t quite sure how I would respond to what was awaiting me. But, alas, I had come prepared with a beer-drinking buddy, and off we went on new adventures.

Great experience. Spend time when you go to this spot. There's plenty to try out - and if recommend the tasting. Their menu is relatively limited, but that's not really why you visit this a lot.

BEST PLACE TO BE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT!

Incredible music, atmosphere, drinks and food 🎉
I'll definitely be back here again with my friends for another fantastic evening 😘
Elzalee De Beer
Definitely one of my favourite spots! Very vibey and even though they are always packed, the waiters and bartenders are on the ball! You can never go wrong with having such a big variety of beer (and other drinks). I absolutely loved the interior and being in BEER HEAVEN!
Wez_Undercover
I truly don't see what people see in this place. Yes. They have alot of beer but so does a shebeen. Food is really tasty but service becomes non existent when they are busy. Not a bad place just not my vibe.@
Kelly Boekhout
I prefer the Beerhouse in Johannesburg if i am being 100% honest, this place has a good vibe and good food, but the prices are a little bit expensive. Its good for a once off visit, but i'm not sure i would make it a regular watering hole
Johnelle Olivier
Great vibe, great food, great beer! What more do you need? Even their fries are interesting! Love to sit on the balcony overlooking Long street. A must do on a Long street crawl.
Juanita Rene Stears
I'm a no beer drinker but this place has an Incredible collection of beers! My partner was in beer heaven. Even though I don't drink beer, I managed to get a drink that I loved and tasted really good. A place to discover new beers indeed. Great place to meet up with friends and have some drinks! This place definitely brings the city to life! Next time we will have some food as well!
Clumsy Peaches
A fun spot to take your man for date night!
He will love the Beer variety for sure.

Girls can enjoy a few yummy beers too like Kopperberg & Liefmans!

My meal was average for the price.

Chocolate Milkstout Cheesecake is out of the world, just a pity there is no ice cream served with it.

Great place for drinks & the occasional nibble.
Kieran Evans
The beerhouse has got a great vibe. Great prices for beer and a wide range of beer. The food there taste great and have good portions. Personally I'd prefer some variety in their menu but otherwise great vibe and great people !
LeMarc Gouws
Great spot to catch up with friends, and have a good time! 99 beers?! Incredible! This is the place to be for any beer lover or someone wanting to be adventurous and try something new without breaking the bank. You get taster plates, or even 120ml glasses if you'd like to taste a few different beers at a time. Prices are very reasonable and they have some interesting snack options, and good food!
Janomi
Its just another beer house and pub. But popular spot for youngsters. Lots of music pumping. Very busy. Nice balcony. But nothing spectacular. Same as the one in Johannesburg.
Chante Daries
This place is a drinker's heaven. I enjoyed the vibe, the live music and of course.....the beer. All kinds and it's just a great experience to test out some outlandish beers.
Food 2 Run
Wow super impressive as you walk upstairs and a are hit by a wall of beers - bottled and on tap..massive selection could have stayed for days. Staff are really good and offered a some great tips.. Didn't eat only drank
Charné
Beer selection:5/5
Food: 2/5
Beer house is a great place to go out and enjoy the 99+ beers that they serve. There's something for everyone (including lemonade and beer mixes, pale ales, IPAs and stouts). The place is always buzzing and vibey and there are also drinks for the non-beer fans. :)
Don't try the food. It's really not great. Rather go to one of the really amazing restaurants on long or Bree and then come through for beer. Even on the bar snack level their food is mediocre. My chips were just awful and everything is overpriced. 6 bitterballen will cost you 60 bucks (and you won't be impressed).

Had friends down from Grahamstown and they chose the spot. Was most certainly not sorry, had the flamchuken which was beyond yum and everyone else went various other options which they thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be back.
Jacques Van Zyl
Beerhouse is definitely a good place to hang out in Long Street.

They have a good variety of beers so come check it out at 223 Long Street in the Central Business District.

If beer is not for you, you can always select from the coffee options they have available.

Staff is always friendly.
Jaclyn Woods
Oh beer.

Beerhouse has vibe. This is the perfect place to take a tourist or to meet up with friends after work. Just note that it gets really full (especially outside) during peak and that parking can be a pain (it being on Long St and all).

The variety of drinks available is wonderful, with my favourite being Liefmans (cherry beer), which makes me want to cry it's so spectacular, but the men in my life tend to lean towards the IPAs, or even sometimes a regular Castle if they're not feeling very adventurous. You can get a great view of the street so it's entertaining.

Food is pub grub, and I've always enjoyed it for what it is, although the onion rings are a bit all battery ring and no onion.
Colleen Kalimba
Certainly the best beers in town - especially the Apollo Blonde and CBC Pilsner, however, it is terribly understaffed and getting a single beer last night took approximately 25-30 minutes.
Sarita Kerber
The go to spot for all ranges of beer and boy is it amazing! Always packed and have a great vibe of people there all the time. They offer some good food and I try to come here as often as I can when wondering down long street.
Tafel Vir Twee
We love stopping in at Beerhouse to enjoy one of the city's best selections of craft beer. Pairing it with a delicious flammkuchen is also the way to go. This funny sounding concoction is basically just a flatbread with yummy toppings. Our favourite is the biltong and blue cheese. We also liked the BBQ Pulled Pork, though it was a tad on the sweet side. The service is usually great, though this weekend our waitress took on too many tables and totally forgot about us for nearly 30 minutes, causing us to go elsewhere for the remainder of our afternoon. Overall, worth a stop for beer lovers, particularly on Friday when you can get a free draft when you use the secret password posted on their Twitter account.

Was a nice place to be obviously having beer there. Their downfall being that of the vast amount of beer they offer. I had to try 3pr 4 times to order a beer as they were out of stock.
The food wasn't bad either. And the company was awesome.
Maximillian Bajkay
Amazing selection of beers from all over the world so for variety it's a great venue and the beer hall itself is awesome.
My only gripe is it's very expensive but most craft beers are.
Marisa Calvert
I always enjoy their food, especially the onion rings. Would enjoy it more if they stocked Vedette Extra White on tap. I would appreciate it if the waiters worked a bit faster though.
Will Silk
You go there for the vast array of beers not the food. So with that being said I was not dissapointed when my buddy ordered an overly priced Pizza that was as thin as a wafer with some cheese on, and me a battered onion (Which in portion was HUGE) but extremely greasy.
Anja Morkel
Beerhouse is always fun. My first time eating here and the flammkucken is very tasty. The service was lacking a bit, but will come back for the yummy variety of beers.
Kirsty
Cool place with an amazing variety of drinks! Unfortunately not much attention is made to the patrons. Took 30 mins to deliver 2 drinks which were very over priced. Ordered a flammkuchen- only half the ingredients actually made it onto the plate- a pity as the whole meal did sound lovely... overall disappointed..
Duane
One of my favorite places to go in CT, food is really good and reasonably priced. Lots and lots of beer to choose from. Highly recommended!
Chloë
If you the adventurous type that wants an endless choice of new exotic beers to try, then you have just found your latest challenge! It'll take you forever to even begin making a dent at trying the variety of beers there are on offer! From vampire dusk to strawberry Swedish beer. And you can do it all with a great vibe and variety of people there. If you choose your evenings wisely to visit, it's likely there will be a fun pub quiz or there is the lunch special in the day.
Mario
Three people on our table order hot food and we get our food, the person who orders a duck salad doesn't get her food till 40 min later and by then we had already finished eating and canceled the salad. Pretty sloppy service
Liezl
Very cool place. Even tho I don't drink beer, so I can't write a review that will do them justice. Tried the Liefmans Fruitesse, which was quite delicious! Will come back with more friends to try the rest of their menu.
Milani Milzybear Motlohi
Love the food and I live the variety of the menu. The beers all taste unique some are not exactly my flavour but others are truly amazing. The service is unique and it's effective.
Mohit Sureka
One of my favourite spots to start or end a pub crawl in Cape Town. They have an amazing menu of craft beers, ciders and their flamkuchen is amazing. I do judge people who would order a Castle Lite @ this place, please order something better. LOL.
Andy Walker
I can't believe that I haven't written a review for Beerhouse yet. I always have a great time here alone or with friends. The beer selection can't be beaten and it's a place where you discover a little bit more about your maturing tastes each time you visit. It's a pity that the food doesn't quite match the beer though.
Chris Stoll
A fantastic beer menu that focuses on the burgeoning local craft beer scene with plenty of foreign bottles to interest those looking further afield.
Zimkhitha Sulelo
I know a lot of people go in there to have one of their many beers but there is more to this yellow house than beer.

It's their German menu that gets me hungry for more food. I have been there so many times and it never occurred to me that you can also have a meal there. I tried their round balls with a German name and they were amazing. Give the food menu a try and you won't be sorry.
Claudia Penny
The beer tasting options are great at Beerhouse! Definitely need to go back for the big one. The bitterballen are delicious and will definitely keep me coming back. Tried two of the flammkuchen and both were delicious. The pulled pork was a little too saucy but that's just personal taste. Can't wait for my next visit!

Update: went back again and there was less pulled pork on the flammkuchen which I thought made it much better and easier to eat. Awesome night and our waiter was excellent.

Beerhouse is always a jol, a must go for any beer lovers. Amazingly large variety of beers ranging for R30 to over R450. Whether it's for a relaxed beer or a big night out I would recommend Beerhouse to all
I Love Foodies

@Robsondondo Beerhouse is a place to be on a chilled day. Love the beer for the house. I also like the decor and the beer chandelier , it's so beerishlicious
Marcelo Dauane
I love this place. Perfect place to go with the mates and have a good time. Good music and good beer. Gets a little too overcrowed on fridays and saturday nights but that is expected of any good bar.
Nikita (Haefliger) Oosterberg
Really cool spot. The beer tasting is really interesting - especially if you are like my husband and love beer. He was very impressed with the small tester versions of the beers (12 testers later...). The night vibe offers old school music which everyone goes crazy for.
Keryn Albert
Had the best onion rings and chips today with a great beer. The service was good didn't have to wait long for anything. Definitely have to go back and try the rest
Kelly Rae Gifford
Really nice vibe for afterwork drinks/evening pre-drinks. Location is also perfect. For those who are not big beer drinkers there is a nice selection of ciders as well. The strawberry and the pear ones are certainly worth a try! The food is very simple but fills a spot and usually exactly what I am craving after a few...

Beerhouse is a must try. The selection of beers, tap or bottle, is mind boggling. There's a beer for everyone here. From the basic Black Label and Jack Black to the very niche Belgian Ales, Beerhouse is a staple for a night out on Long Street. They do nice pizzas and gigantic onion rings as well. Friendly staff as well, but make sure you get a table in advance, it gets packed.
Klara Aizupitis
Sometimes I get annoyed when this place is overrun with annoying tourists. But then I just drink more of Beerhouse's incredible selection of beers, and then I get too drunk to care. There really isn't anywhere else in Cape Town to go with a wider range of options. I've never eaten here, but if you toss back enough pints, I'm sure it will be tasty.
Azele Anne Naicker
Decided to check out beerhouse for a few drinks after dinner and I was really disappointed. The service was really really poor. It wasn't really that busy but even though we called waiters multiple times we waited about 30 mins before being able to place an order. Even then, a new waiter came along and requested that we place our order with her again as the other water refused to give her our order??? I didn't understand this.... anyways I didn't want to spend the whole night running after the waiter anymore so we just had a few drinks and left. I love the koppaberg raspberry which is a fruity fizzy cider. The strawberry and lime is great as well.
Grethe Lötter
What an awesome place to chill! Excellent service, fantastic food and massive portions at very good prices! Would drive from the Northern Suburbs and come watch the rugby here! Thank you!
Where-oh-where
The variety of beers on offer is impressive. The food is typical pub grub. It fills the gap after a few pints, but wouldn't be somewhere I'd head for dinner.
