The food (burgers) was amazing! You definitely get value for money, yes it's a bit more to the expensive side, but worth every cent! The service was fast, friendly and just on point! The kitchen was exceptionally fast and every order was spot on! I literally couldn't complain about anything (not even my fussy boyfriend could). Maybe the tables outside were a bit too close together, but I know it's probably only because the restaurant is so popular! Plus, everyone likes to sit outside at the Waterfront.
Over all, I really recommend this place to anyone who likes a full plate! And the options on the menu is absolutely great - there's something for every tastebud.
If you're seriously hungry, then this is the place!

I am a local and have been residing in Cape Town for all my life... I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to decide to try it out!!! I love all the options and it’s an awesome family environment.
I tried the Onion Blossom burger that was perfectly cooked and the fries are to die for��. Although I do not have a sweet tooth, the selection of shakes is great!!! �

Rocvo Mamas was our choice for Kaylee birthday celebration. However being full we decided to visit Gibsons as my son had visited previously. We arrived at Waterfront Saturday 8 October and it was busy with only a table outside to accommodate oyr group size.
As my don had their baby with he explained it was a bit nippy so we decided to try somewhere else.
Without hesitation they said would make a plan inside. They quickly got tables together and we were seated.
My son with Downs Syndrome can be very difficult but they were very patient with him.
Our waitron was excellent. I thought we would have a long wait but service was excellent with every order perfect.
Cherry on top was Kaylee dessert served with a greeting card something we never exposed. Waitron must have overheard us toasting her birthday.

We had such a great time ... After we had left Jerry's burger joint ... because we were seated by the bar and got no acknowledgement for 15mins ... Walking into Gibson's ...I totally fell inlove with the interiors ... service was like the best I had in Cape Town since Im back from usa . The food was Sooo yummy and those sweet potato fries ... daaaaam I couldn't get enough! Best part our bill was cheaper than when I went to spur . So honestly this was the best date night yet . I can't wait to visit again!

Surpisingly spectacularly! I knew I was in for a treat when I saw a line outside the restaurant. The hostess was extremely friendly and the staff were attentive and knew the menu backwards.
It's a Burger and Rib joint, so you want to see if they can back it up. Needless to say, a delicious burger with a caramelized onion sauce that will have you licking your lips arrived.
The decor is a bit on the high end. You dont feel like you're in burger joint. The pricing is perfect and doesn't make you feel like you're being taken for a ride.

Really yummy food with an ocean view. I found the table settings and general ambience outside a little lacking and the sea gulls were a bit aggressive. That said their food was tasty and if you happen to be a milkshake lover then this is the place for you as they have over 100 flavors.
Went to gibson’s on a friday evening, they were very busy but we waited about 15 minutes at the bar and then we were seated outside. Skipped lunch as i was so excited for supper. I had the gorgonzola burger with bacon. Soooo tasty😍 Will definitely be back to try their milkshakes. It was my bf’s birthday and the waiter made an effort to organize a happy birthday ice-cream plate which definitely added to the evening.

Ribs and chips are delicious, but the burgers are more hit and miss. To the manager's credit, he offered to replace our burger when he found out we were disappointed on our most recent visit. Nevertheless, we will happily go back to Gibson's for the ribs and their delicious milkshakes. Also, the portions are large, which we appreciate.

This was one the best burgers I have ever eaten! Those homemade pickled cucumbers were the best! The whole meal just came together and we shared one the hundreds of milkshakes on offer. 👌🏻 Service was good and it was one of the more cost effective restaurants for a quick bite at the V& A Waterfront.
Heard about the burgers at this place and decided to give it a try. Was definitely impressed. Had a cheese bacon burger with half-and-half: sweet potato fries and potato fries. The whole meal was tasty and couldn’t fault it at all. The service from our waiter was professional and recognizable. We were continuously checked on and that made us feel like our requests are taken quite seriously from waiter-level to managerial-level.
Damn their Burgers are good, maybe a little pricey but then the quality of the burger is excellent. If you like a good chargrilled burger like me, then you have to try it out

This place has the WIDEST selection of milkshakes I have ever seen! (Peanut, oreo, cheesecake, yoghurt, mint, choc, fudge etc) The burger selection is also unbelievable. I ordered the Mexican burger opted for chicken (called a tex mex) and it was delicious. The view is nice outside, enjoy milkshakes and burgers by the waterfront.

Gibson's certainly has great burgers my favourite is the Ultimate, the staff is pretty friendly. My first experience wasn't good though, I found a strand of hair in my burger but the manager and the chef apologised for that.
Decided to give them another chance and I'm glad I did, was a chilly day and they were full inside so we sat outside thank goodness for their heaters and cosy blankets we still had a great time.
It's always nice to go to the Waterfront. The burger I had was tasty add juicy. I was never ready for the milkshake though. I had a Romany Creams milkshake and it was delicious. I'd go back just for the milkshake.
I’ve been to this restaurant a couple times before so I knew that I’d not be disappointed. Myself and some family members went there for lunch earlier this week. I ordered the pork ribs and they were so succulent and off the bone tender. Perfectly smoked, cooked, etc.. I had sweet potato fries as a side and it was a perfect meal. I’ll definitely be back, believe that.
I have never had ribs so I thought it will an experience trying them. The location of the restaurant is excellent, just outside the mall and overlooking the waterfront with the Yatchs. Ribs were Ok, maybe I will take some time to understand the flavour. The view was gr8!

I came here with Kganya Ngcebz Zungu and his family and we had a really good time. For a restaurant at a mall it wasn’t too loud and the ambiance good.
We had the pork ribs and the chicken wings amongst us and and both were really good, and arrived very soon after placing the order which was great.
I would definitely recommend this place as for all of the above and also due to the fact that they have a really extensive menu, they serve 3 ribs of differing meats to say the least.

A very stunning place at the Waterfront. Very elegant for a burger place. Amazing service. The menu is jamp packed with loooooots of burgers and milkshakes, it's like heaven.
Had the governor's bacon and cheese burger but I felt the bacon was very little, more of it could have made the burger even nicer. The buns weren't so fresh and kept breaking apart, that's the worst that can happen to burger lovers that enjoy eating with their hands.
Overall this is an amazing place with good background music, amazing service and amazing burgers.

Myself, my girlfriend and a friend went to Gibsons yesterday for lunch. First thing I noticed is that the restaurant was really well situated along the Harbour strip in the V&A Waterfront with a perfect view of both Table Mountain, the Wheel of Excellence as well as the Harbour.
Initially service wasn't too great as after being seating we never received any menus but I believe this was more a communication issue between the waiters than anything else as after that everything was great.
We came as we had seen Gibsons had probably one of the best milkshake selections of offer and we were thoroughly satisfied with what we got.
All of the delicious milkshakes are hand spun and the sheer volume of variety is top class. I had the blueberry (which was amazing) whilst the girls had the frozen berry and the oreo mint. Yes, I said oreo mint. Those were delicious as well.
For food we obviously went with the namesake of the restaurant and ordered burgers. I had the Zola Zola Gorgonzola, whiles my girlfriend ordered the brunch burger and our friend ordered the stardard house classic burger.
All of them were perfect value for money as they were huge and very well cooked. Delicious patty's too.
Only qualm I had was that I felt there was slightly too much of the gorgonzolla on my burger which became quite overpowering to the rest of the flavours. However other than that the meal was excellent and I loved the fat boy fries that was served along with the meal.
Overall, DEFINITELY worth a visit, especially if one is a keen lover of milkshakes and burgers (and who isn't) and I look forward to my next visit.

The options of milkshakes are endless . Friendly and efficient service. The restaurant seemed to be a little cramped , however the staff made it work.
This place is heaven if you like burgers and milkshakes. They have an endless menu for milkshakes. My son and husband had quite a few milkshakes from them and each one they said was delicous they said. I had the hell as hot burger. I quite enjoyed it, the patty however did lack some salt and it wasnt really hot as hell as I added some more hot sauce as well. I also did not taste the cheese, perhaps they can use a strong cheese for this burger. Their chips were delicous, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Their sweet potato fries, also delicous and it was nice and salty. My husband liked his burger too. The inside of the restuarant for me personally is to dark as there a quite a few areas with black tiles. The service was good. Will definately visit them again if I am in the area to try out some other burgers.
If you like burgers and milkshakes then you will find something here. They don't take bookings and do have peak times so you may have to go early for dinner. There is an extensive burger and milkshake menu and I've never been disappointed. The also have a bar and cocktail menu. The service is generally good. The setting is more like a diner than a restaurant.

Im sorry America but Gibson has the best burgers in the WORLD. To add insult to this they have nearly a 100 milkshake flavors. Every possible burger combination you could dream up with a real beef patty well flavored and grilled to your preference. Start with lunch and stay for supper because you have to try the smokey sticky spareribs.

Tried out this restaurant yesterday and what a pleasant experience. I ordered the Nutella milkshake and sirloin steak with mushroom sauce. Usually when dining out, I always swop my fries for veggies but this time I opted not to, their fries were delicious. Overall they are abit pricey but definitely worth every cent.
Ahhhh delicious milkshakes and so many to choose! Tasted the Amarula marshmallow shake mmmm! The vegetarian falafel style burger was excellent but breaks easily and it would be great to have a vegan one but it's definitely yum! Plus sweet potato flies 😍Also must mention that the new interior is modern and stylish! Good job!

Gibson's is the definitely the place to go if you want a great gourmet burger and milkshake! I decided to try their classic beef burger (their chicken burger is a bit bland). When we received our order I decided to order an extra slice of cheese for my burger seeing that it was a bit plain without one. When we received the bill I saw that I was charged R25 for a slice of cheese...quite a high price but it really made the burger. Also ordered a cookies and cream milkshake. There was such a wide variety of milkshakes which made it really tough to choose just one. Our waiter was very efficient and our orders were brought promptly after ordering. The food was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively and relaxing at the same time. The seating space in the front was a bit crowded and lighting was a bit dark but otherwise comfortable and well decorated. Overall it was a really enjoyable night and the food and service were superb, their milkshakes are also definitely worth trying! Their price range is quite high, but the food is well worth it. Great place.

I had the best dinner at Gibsons. The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying and worth every cent. The restaurant was very busy on Friday night yet very accommodating. The service was a bit slow due to it being so busy but our waitress was super friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We were torn between the huge variety to choose from.
My dad enjoyed a the Gibsons draft beer to drink. We ordered the Beirut beef burger and swapped the beef patty for a grilled chicken patty. We opted for the hand cut potato chips as a side. We also tried the marinated chicken wings and opted for baked potato as a side. My mom ordered the vegetarian Beirut burger as accompanied with sweet potato chips. All portions were really big and delicious. The Beirut burger had hommus and tahini on it. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight of my meal were the chicken wings. They were divine. The were well marinated in a barbecue sauce and came in a portion of it. I definately recommend this meal.
Overall it was a great dinner.

The staff are friendly, the service is sharp, the food is AWESOME, and the restaurant itself is great too. Cozy on the inside for a cold evening, and stunning views on the outside for a lunch time/early evening visit.
I've yet to try one of the 100 gourmet milkshakes because I'm always stuffed by the time I'm done eating, but they do look amazing!
On of the best burgers I've had in Cape Town and the milkshakes were to die for! Honestly the food deserved a 4.5/5 but the service was not great at all🙈 There seemed to be a huge disconnect between the hostess and the waiters because we were seated very quickly, waited forever to be served but once we had a waiter the service was great. Gibson's...what can I say?!?! Well if you enjoy good milkshakes then I do recommend trying out this place they have a wide variety of amazing, delicious, mouth watering gourmet milkshakes and even fruit/smoothie milkshakes for that are abit health conscious, whenever I go to the waterfront I make sure to pop in for a milkshakes. They are known for their juicy burgers as well. I like variety so I op for the sliders, three juicy not so mini burgers. #ohsojuicy. Try them out!

Decadently prepared and tastefully presented, our slider experience did not disappoint. Do yourself a favour and order one of their signature shakes as well. A bit pricy, but well worth the trip!
Good burgers but struggles to be great. The biggest burger (The Ultimate) is sadly not composed well with no true good food taste. Their onion ring (Onion Bloom) burger is divine and well worth it. Often go to this restaurant when we're in search of a tasty burger. They keep increasing the prices of the menu items and recently some of the burgers aren't great value for money anymore. All their burgers are tasty (and large). We shared a 800ml milkshake - filled with chocolate pieces and brownies, both within the milkshake and as a part of the toppings. The milkshake needs to be shared between 3 people as it is extremely rich and filling. A great dessert treat but cannot be accompanied with a meal.

Had a lovely lunch at GIBSONS - the manageress was on top form from greeting to table. I had a small issue and she sorted it out without any issues. Lovely lady but unfortunately I didn’t catch her name, so the lady on duty today at 2pm your a Rock Star! Enjoyed our burgers as usual and Milkshakes are always a win the best selection in Cape Town. The burger patty is old school flame grilled it reminds me of burgers in my youth. I’m still yet to try the rib but every time I come here I do a burger. Next time for-sure.
