Review Gibson's Gourmet Burgers & Ribs - Cape Town Central

We went to Gibsons for a milkshake and burger! They had over 100 flavours to choose from! The waitress was lovely and patient letting us read through them all until we decided on a flavour. The milkshakes were delicious and the burgers are flavoursome and fresh. Highly recommend, beautiful view as well while you eat.

Celebrated my birthday at Gibson’s, what an experience! From having so many milkshakes to choose from, delicious food, nice view and our awesome waiter, Dillion my day could not get better! Thank you!

The best place to satisfy your treat needs. A delicious endless array of milkshakes to die for (order a small as they are massive!) And very tasty burgers and chips. Highly recommend! Go hungry.

Had a lovely lunch at GIBSONS - the manageress was on top form from greeting to table. I had a small issue and she sorted it out without any issues. Lovely lady but unfortunately I didn’t catch her name, so the lady on duty today at 2pm your a Rock Star! Enjoyed our burgers as usual and Milkshakes are always a win the best selection in Cape Town. The burger patty is old school flame grilled it reminds me of burgers in my youth. I’m still yet to try the rib but every time I come here I do a burger. Next time for-sure.

They have an incredible selection of burgers! They were tasty juicy and yummy! Sitting outside, you have a great view of Table Mountain - an added plus.

I love the views of the harbour with a great variety of milkshakes available. I received a good ribs portion and the service was great. The waiters were very helpful.

Imrann is an incredible waiter! The restaurant was super busy with a tour group, marathon runners, and more. Imrann was quick, funny, and helpful. The Fillet was cooked to perfection! Others loved the burgers and line fish.

I would definitely come back and try their burgers and milkshakes. I had a chococino which was okay. Their pork ribs were amazing. Can't wait to come back again.

Prime location at the V&A Waterfront in magnificent Cape Town on a calm, summer's evening... what could possibly be better? A delicious burger or pork ribs or exquisite milkshake? Yes! If you are seeking decadence, pleasure to excite your taste buds, come to this place! The service was also great. Restaurants like this one make me so proud to be a South African. It appears that the food and beverage industry works!

A very large variety of milkshakes and delicious burgers makes Gibson's a great place for dinner. The waiters are attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again.

This is a burger joint with food and decor in the style of an American "gourmet" (more like fast-casual, a la Red Robin) burger restaurant. I had the Governor witha side of fries. As an American, I approve and recommend this place.

After a “Red Bus Cruise” on the canal at V&A it was time to eat. We found Gibbon’s Greeted by friendly staff. Never knew there could possibly be so meany different types of milkshake. Looking around at other tables, my mouth was already drooling. We were not disappointed. Absolutely awesome, let’s not forget about the burgers. Mouthwatering, cooked to perfection. Definitely coming back.

The food (burgers) was amazing! You definitely get value for money, yes it's a bit more to the expensive side, but worth every cent! The service was fast, friendly and just on point! The kitchen was exceptionally fast and every order was spot on! I literally couldn't complain about anything (not even my fussy boyfriend could). Maybe the tables outside were a bit too close together, but I know it's probably only because the restaurant is so popular! Plus, everyone likes to sit outside at the Waterfront. Over all, I really recommend this place to anyone who likes a full plate! And the options on the menu is absolutely great - there's something for every tastebud. If you're seriously hungry, then this is the place!

Had a late lunch. Very good meal. They have so many milkshakes to choose from, over 120! So that in itself is awesome! Their burgers are huge (200g for regular and 160g for small) and delicious!! The service is great. The prices are on the slightly expensive side but as stated the food portions are huge!! I had a small Philly burger and my boyfriend had the regular Tex Mex burger. Huge, filling burgers. Amazing sauces! Their Secret no.6 is fantastic! And the chips were delicious and plentiful as well.

Was really disappointed with the burgers, not up to expectations at all. The sliders were burnt, hard and dry, but the second attempt was better. Not overcooked the second time but bland and underwhelming. The chicken burger was also dry and crispy but my young guest was too hungry to send it back. The vegetarian burger was also dry and bland, but my daughter said that's what she expected. Service was ok. Not great but not bad. Overall not an experience I will repeat nor recommend. Much better, cheaper burgers to be had elsewhere!

The place is nice and all, except for the waitress that was assigned to our table, Cynthia had a bad attitude even brought us dirty glasses and when we approached her about that she took the glasses away and didn't bring them back we had to drink our beverages straight from the bottle. We even tried making small talks but no she wasn't interested. Cynthia with star tattoos on her neck I will never forget her face

I was really disappointed and I don't know why people rave about this place. Sliders are dry and burnt, I ask for a sunday blues "medium" it came "done" I would rather go to Brocka for decent meal.

We had a table of 11 tonight and we are all very disappointed with our meal - the burgers were extremely salty! My son's sliders were charred and tasted like a cup of salt was used in each patty. My husband's burger had half a container of mustard on it - very disappointed in our milkshakes - my salted caramel milkshake was just a cream caramel with salt all over it. I doubt we will ever go back again!

I am a local and have been residing in Cape Town for all my life... I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to decide to try it out!!! I love all the options and it’s an awesome family environment. I tried the Onion Blossom burger that was perfectly cooked and the fries are to die for��. Although I do not have a sweet tooth, the selection of shakes is great!!! � Friendly staff makes for a great vibe too, Definitely will be coming back to try out the rest of the menu!

The burgers are excellent,the food came to the table real quick,my only concern is the waiter that served us did not listen and we had to keep repeating the same things .over...and over ...back and forth...otherwise really enjoyed it

Good restaurant for burgers and milkshakes, but your Philly steak does not deserve to exist. It's an offense to the real deal. Dry, a tiny bit of cheese and a steak that I can only assume was precooked beforehand. Strike that out of the menu or do better.

Rocvo Mamas was our choice for Kaylee birthday celebration. However being full we decided to visit Gibsons as my son had visited previously. We arrived at Waterfront Saturday 8 October and it was busy with only a table outside to accommodate oyr group size. As my don had their baby with he explained it was a bit nippy so we decided to try somewhere else. Without hesitation they said would make a plan inside. They quickly got tables together and we were seated. My son with Downs Syndrome can be very difficult but they were very patient with him. Our waitron was excellent. I thought we would have a long wait but service was excellent with every order perfect. Cherry on top was Kaylee dessert served with a greeting card something we never exposed. Waitron must have overheard us toasting her birthday. A fantastic evening will recommend and visit again

We had such a great time ... After we had left Jerry's burger joint ... because we were seated by the bar and got no acknowledgement for 15mins ... Walking into Gibson's ...I totally fell inlove with the interiors ... service was like the best I had in Cape Town since Im back from usa . The food was Sooo yummy and those sweet potato fries ... daaaaam I couldn't get enough! Best part our bill was cheaper than when I went to spur . So honestly this was the best date night yet . I can't wait to visit again!

We were seated immediately. Unfortunately we ordered items twice from the menu and both times the waitress returned to inform us its not availible. Otherwise, no complaints. The burgers are great!

Surpisingly spectacularly! I knew I was in for a treat when I saw a line outside the restaurant. The hostess was extremely friendly and the staff were attentive and knew the menu backwards.<br/><br/>It's a Burger and Rib joint, so you want to see if they can back it up. Needless to say, a delicious burger with a caramelized onion sauce that will have you licking your lips arrived.<br/><br/>The decor is a bit on the high end. You dont feel like you're in burger joint. The pricing is perfect and doesn't make you feel like you're being taken for a ride.<br/><br/>Bravo!

to be honest l was highly disappointed by the waitresses, we came just after lunch time, we sat for 10good minutes no menus, There was a big table and 2 more tables the restaurant wasn’t too busy, we had came for milkshakes a friend had recommended unfortunately we left without trying them because no one came to help us and they wer standing right in front of us but would not help us whatsoever

Always love coming here. Too many delicious milkshakes to choose from! Even on busy weekends the service is good. Had a problem with one of the waitresses once but the manager was very apologetic and professional in helping us

Great food. The patties were fresh and juicy. We had ours medium rare. Their fries are thick and crispy on the outside whilst soft on the inside. Absolutely delicious food. I’d recommend this place!

The burgers are really good. The lamb ribs are some of the best I have tested ever. All around a good place. It can get really busy. Often you have to wait for a table.

We tried the chicken burgers. The crumbed burgers were disappointing  so I wouldn't recommend those but the pineapple and atchar one was fantastic. A huge selection of milkshakes which is always a hit! Salted chocolate was delectable.<br/>Good location at the Waterfront, decently priced. Worth a try

Finger-lickin burgers by the waterfront, for sure. I had the sliders which include the cheese burger, avocado, classic combination. Generous portions!! Paired it with apple cider for a refreshing finish on summer nights.

Really yummy food with an ocean view. I found the table settings and general ambience outside a little lacking and the sea gulls were a bit aggressive. That said their food was tasty and if you happen to be a milkshake lover then this is the place for you as they have over 100 flavors.

We ordered the grilled calamari appetizer which was tasty & fresh - however overpriced for its size to be honest. The appetizer came before our drinks - a bummer to the start of our lunch. As we finished up the calamari, ordered the pork ribs appetizer as well - which in my opinion were not charred enough and I could also taste gas from the grill - nevertheless enjoyed the bbq basting. We decided on the philly steak roll with an additional egg for our main - I would not recommend it as it was dry and bland. I admit my mistake was ordering a steak roll at a specialty burger joint - although does not excuse the taste. Overall the service was disappointing as the waiter did not pay attention to us when we needed service, he was rather blatant about it while chatting to his colleagues knowing we needed service. I did not have a good experience due to lack of quality and service. I did not feel welcomed.

Had a terrible experience at Gibsons. Bought a starter grilled calamari R76 (only about 10 tubes on plate, tasty but exspected abit more), mango tango cocktail was average. Very disappointed with the luxury Philly steak roll R156 (no flavour, steak was dry, even though I specifically ask for the steak to be medium). Further more during my lunch experience, popped out for a smoke and when I got back to my table, my left over food and full beer was missing from the table. I then immediatly asked the waiter "where is my meal and drink", soon after they returned my food and drink and said "they thought I left". How is this an excuse if, I have only been gone for 5 min and have not paid my bill yet? Over priced and terrible customer service. R690 later and feeling ripped off.<br/><br/>

Went to gibson’s on a friday evening, they were very busy but we waited about 15 minutes at the bar and then we were seated outside. Skipped lunch as i was so excited for supper. I had the gorgonzola burger with bacon. Soooo tasty😍 Will definitely be back to try their milkshakes. It was my bf’s birthday and the waiter made an effort to organize a happy birthday ice-cream plate which definitely added to the evening.

Gibson's was an awesome experience! The food was amazing and the service was great! We will definitely be coming back! I wish we had one in Joburg!

I don't seem to enjoy the burgers from here but it's just my personal taste. I find the average with no unique-ness to them. Milkshakes are also okay. Went on a very busy night. Staff tried their best to accommodate everyone. Decor is alright.

Ribs and chips are delicious, but the burgers are more hit and miss.  To the manager's credit, he offered to replace our burger when he found out we were disappointed on our most recent visit.  Nevertheless, we will happily go back to Gibson's for the ribs and their delicious milkshakes.  Also, the portions are large, which we appreciate.

The waitresses were friendly, service was good and the food arrived speedily. The food was delicious and the milkshake was really amazing👍🏻

I’ve had burgers and milkshakes here twice with my boyfriend and both times were very average. The milkshakes are delicious and I’d definitely recommend them, they have a wide range to choose from. The burgers are average, the patties are dry and the buns are stale. The price definitely doesn’t correlate with the product, in terms of burgers. Very friendly service otherwise.

The burgers are overpriced and very average in taste. The waiter told us the patties would be medium done but the patties were pretty much burnt. Their burgers are pretty much on the same level as Steers and they served us flat beer.

Delicious oreo cheesecake milkshake ,creme brulee milkshake they are huge I rather share a milkshake to have with someone or a burger just have the milkshake on its own. The food came quickly after a few minutes ago after mom and I had ordered and it was during lunch hour which is not busy during a week day because it is school holiday the our waitress was friendly she was helpful 😀<br/>

Pleaaaase open a branch in Pretoria ASAP?<br/>This was one the best burgers I have ever eaten! Those homemade pickled cucumbers were the best! The whole meal just came together and we shared one the hundreds of milkshakes on offer. 👌🏻 Service was good and it was one of the more cost effective restaurants for a quick bite at the V& A Waterfront.

Heard about the burgers at this place and decided to give it a try. Was definitely impressed. Had a cheese bacon burger with half-and-half: sweet potato fries and potato fries. The whole meal was tasty and couldn’t fault it at all. The service from our waiter was professional and recognizable. We were continuously checked on and that made us feel like our requests are taken quite seriously from waiter-level to managerial-level.

Perhaps another victim of hype or maybe because I am now tired of burgers and shakes but Gibson’s to me was too expensive and disappointing. I was expecting something better than the stream of burger joints in Cape Town and I don’t think that Gibson’s fit that bill. Their burgers should be complemented on their size however, they are huge! Their speciality shakes are also an experience. This may hit the spot for some, but sadly it did not for me.

Damn their Burgers are good, maybe a little pricey but then the quality of the burger is excellent. If you like a good chargrilled burger like me, then you have to try it out

So we only went for some shakes and didn't eat anything, but it was a little bit on the disappointing side..<br/>The options were just about limitless and made it really hard to decide, so maybe we just made bad choices.<br/>The gingerbread man has a ginger biscuit on top, which naturally a person would eat before drinking the shake. Once you eat this though, your taste buds are desensitised to any other ginger that might have been in the shake.<br/>The apple and cream shake was said to have pieces of shortbread in, but there was only 1 on the top and also no stewed apple flavour anywhere to be found. All I got was raisins and more raisins...<br/>So that leaves me to think that the burgers also look amazing, but do they actually taste that good?

Burgers are delicious and huge but those milkshakes are just heaven on earth with a variety of over 100!!! Just wow, I loved the oreo cheesecake and the Nutella and the almond a definite must visit to this place

I was greeted by servers who didn’t seem to know whether they wanted to seat me or continue chatting among themselves. The indoor seating is quite small and cosy while the outdoor seating has lovely views. <br/>My server was very knowledgeable of the menu. I had the president burger which was massive but lacked flavour. The patty was made from quality beef. Other than the average service my experience was ok.

This place has the WIDEST selection of milkshakes I have ever seen! (Peanut, oreo, cheesecake, yoghurt, mint, choc, fudge etc) The burger selection is also unbelievable. I ordered the Mexican burger opted for chicken (called a tex mex) and it was delicious. The view is nice outside, enjoy milkshakes and burgers by the waterfront.

Good burgers, not the best I’ve had. The seating wasn’t too great either. Their variety of milkshakes was quite surprising and a bit overwhelming. The sliders are nearly the size of a normal burger(no I am not complaining!) but overall, not too bad

Gibson's certainly has great burgers my favourite is the Ultimate, the staff is pretty friendly. My first experience wasn't good though, I found a strand of hair in my burger but the manager and the chef apologised for that.<br/>Decided to give them another chance and I'm glad I did, was a chilly day and they were full inside so we sat outside thank goodness for their heaters and cosy blankets we still had a great time.

It's always nice to go to the Waterfront. The burger I had was tasty add juicy. I was never ready for the milkshake though. I had a Romany Creams milkshake and it was delicious. I'd go back just for the milkshake.

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple times before so I knew that I’d not be disappointed. Myself and some family members went there for lunch earlier this week. I ordered the pork ribs and they were so succulent and off the bone tender. Perfectly smoked, cooked, etc.. I had sweet potato fries as a side and it was a perfect meal. I’ll definitely be back, believe that.

So after hearing that this spot serves the best burgers in Cape Town I had to try it. And it didn't live up to its reputation unfortunately. The burgers were good but not great... I've had those burgers a million times at other places and they cost less. The service was not bad, it was ok. The best part of this spot is the view of boats in the water.

A few friends and I had decided to try Gibson's on Saturday as it was a friend's birthday and we thought that it would have been rather interesting to try a different place that neither of us has tried before.<br/><br/>We had all been extremely excited but the evening was filled with utter disappointment as the burgers we had ordered wasn't what we had expected it to be.<br/><br/>The burger roll was extremely old and immensely dry, which was a major let down. It started falling apart before we even started eating. The service provided wasn't bad, but it could have been better. The only delicacy we truly enjoyed was the fried chips. It was possibly the yummiest fries I had tasted in a very long time and possibly the greatest Gibson's has to offer.

I have never had ribs so I thought it will an experience trying them. The location of the restaurant is excellent, just outside the mall and overlooking the waterfront with the Yatchs. Ribs were Ok, maybe I will take some time to understand the flavour. The view was gr8!

Spacious and clean,the waiter was always one step ahead when it came to essentials needed for the meals. <br/><br/>Burgers are not my first choice when it comes to a meal, Gibson’s however has changed that! Delicious burgers and decadent milkshakes -Be sure to go hungry as portions are generous 👍🏼

Brilliant place, service is decent, food is nice and portions are enormous. We made the mistake of ordering burgers and their big milkshakes. Lets just say we didn’t finish anything on our table.

Average food.. for a burger place their burgers are 5-6 out of 10 but the service is terrible. Wait is long for the food, we waited nearly an hour and the food all came out wrong. The worst part? No one was slightly apologetic about it. Try to avoid, there are much better options around.

The food was delicious and the service was quick. What I also liked was the option to sit outside while you enjoy your meal especially now in summer.

Our first visit at Gibsons..initial service wasn't good, we requested a different waiter. No kids menu. Burgers were good but could maybe add lamb on their burger menu. There was more fat than any meat on the lamb ribs. Don't think we'll visit again. <br/><br/>

We got there and asked for the table and chairs to be wiped as there was rain earlier on. The waiter wasn't happy doing it. After wiping, no one comes to take our orders and in my head I'm thinking they probably hate us. After a while, a waiter came. The food was really nice, but I was disappointed by the service!

Very nice place, friendly staff. Quick service. I ordered the Frozen berries shake which was really nice, not too sweet or heavy with my meal. To eat i had the Manhattan Burger with normal fries. It was delicious, Big with lots of flavour. Definitely worth trying.

I came here with Kganya Ngcebz Zungu and his family and we had a really good time. For a restaurant at a mall it wasn’t too loud and the ambiance good.<br/><br/>We had the pork ribs and the chicken wings amongst us and and both were really good, and arrived very soon after placing the order which was great.<br/><br/>I would definitely recommend this place as for all of the above and also due to the fact that they have a really extensive menu, they serve 3 ribs of differing meats to say the least.<br/>

Very disappointed with the service. We came on a Tuesday night and it was not busy so there was no excuse for the bad service. The exciting description of the burgers did not match the expectations.The burgers were very average and lacked flavours. The side salad that accompanied the burger was swimming in oil. Will not come here again. For the price we paid it’s definitely not worth it.

Had been here on my holiday to Cpt.. Absolutely brilliant burgers..<br/>And the second visit was for the ribs. Brilliant. <br/>First time eating ribs.. Will never forget the juicy tender meat. <br/>The burger patties are done to your liking..<br/>Medium well is good enough for me and I never had any complaints with the way they prepared both my burgers. <br/><br/>Milkshakes were an added bonus..

So I decided to give Gibson's a try yesterday, after hearing time and time again about their amazing burgers and milkshakes. They have a great menu with loads of choice, which is great . I ordered a Nutella milkshake, which was good but not great, and I get the whole over the top milkshake decorating but when it got to the table, it was honestly a bit messy for my liking. I looked around and didn't see other milkshakes looking as messy as mine, so perhaps that was just a mistake.. Totally forgivable. But then the burgers.. I had an 'ultimate burger' and sadly the beef patty was terribly dry and not very tasty even though I asked for it to be medium. The chicken patty was a bit better, but also dry.. Unfortunately it was quite a disappointing burger, especially for R180.. And the fact that the issue was the patties, doesn't make me feel like trying a different burger, with different toppings but the same patty would be a good idea. However I did have an onion blossom starter and that was AMAZING!! I might go back just for that. The service was decent, and atmosphere super chilled, which is a breath of fresh air at V&A.

A very stunning place at the Waterfront. Very elegant for a burger place. Amazing service. The menu is jamp packed with loooooots of burgers and milkshakes, it's like heaven.<br/><br/>Had the governor's bacon and cheese burger but I felt the bacon was very little, more of it could have made the burger even nicer. The buns weren't so fresh and kept breaking apart, that's the worst that can happen to burger lovers that enjoy eating with their hands.<br/><br/>Overall this is an amazing place with good background music, amazing service and amazing burgers.

I remember being partly addicted to Gibson’s last year. My boyfriend and I would make a plan to go often. We would always get a portion of ribs and a burger which we would share and it was more than enough and DELICIOUS. We even had a favorite waiter, named Mini. <br/><br/>Fast forward to our visit yesterday, which was really an awful experience. Firstly, I want to commend them on their fast service. We literally came in, ordered our drinks and food which came super quick. I don’t really like that it’s so cramped, the customers have to move out of the way for the waiters to move past. We each ordered a burger this time BIG MISTAKE- The buns were old and hard, as you can see from the photos we didn’t eat it. I basically had a half a patty and my chips and I gave the rest to my dog. <br/><br/>Honestly speaking, I don’t feel like the burgers were worth the R140 that we spent. It was really below par and i don’t think I will be returning any time soon.

Myself, my girlfriend and a friend went to Gibsons yesterday for lunch. First thing I noticed is that the restaurant was really well situated along the Harbour strip in the V&A Waterfront with a perfect view of both Table Mountain, the Wheel of Excellence as well as the Harbour.<br/>Initially service wasn't too great as after being seating we never received any menus but I believe this was more a communication issue between the waiters than anything else as after that everything was great.<br/>We came as we had seen Gibsons had probably one of the best milkshake selections of offer and we were thoroughly satisfied with what we got.<br/><br/>All of the delicious milkshakes are hand spun and the sheer volume of variety is top class. I had the blueberry (which was amazing) whilst the girls had the frozen berry and the oreo mint. Yes, I said oreo mint. Those were delicious as well.<br/><br/>For food we obviously went with the namesake of the restaurant and ordered burgers. I had the Zola Zola Gorgonzola, whiles my girlfriend ordered the brunch burger and our friend ordered the stardard house classic burger.<br/>All of them were perfect value for money as they were huge and very well cooked. Delicious patty's too.<br/>Only qualm I had was that I felt there was slightly too much of the gorgonzolla on my burger which became quite overpowering to the rest of the flavours. However other than that the meal was excellent and I loved the fat boy fries that was served along with the meal.<br/><br/>Overall, DEFINITELY worth a visit, especially if one is a keen lover of milkshakes and burgers (and who isn't) and I look forward to my next visit.

Lovely setting, awesome quick service and amazing food.. Gibson's burgers are burgers you eat when you haven't eaten for the entire day.. they fill you right up.

The options of milkshakes are endless . Friendly and efficient service. The restaurant seemed to be a little cramped , however the staff made it work.

This place is heaven if you like burgers and milkshakes.  They have an endless menu for milkshakes.  My son and husband had quite a few milkshakes from them and each one they said was delicous they said.  I had the hell as hot burger.  I quite enjoyed it, the patty however did lack some salt and it wasnt really hot as hell as I added some more hot sauce as well.  I also did not taste the cheese, perhaps they can use a strong cheese for this burger. Their chips were delicous, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.  Their sweet potato fries, also delicous and it was nice and salty.  My husband liked his burger too.  The inside of the restuarant for me personally is to dark as there a quite a few areas with black tiles.  The service was good.  Will definately visit them again if I am in the area to try out some other burgers.

If you like burgers and milkshakes then you will find something here. They don't take bookings and do have peak times so you may have to go early for dinner. There is an extensive burger and milkshake menu and I've never been disappointed. The also have a bar and cocktail menu. The service is generally good. The setting is more like a diner than a restaurant.

Im sorry America but Gibson has the best burgers in the WORLD. To add insult to this they have nearly a 100 milkshake flavors. Every possible burger combination you could dream up with a real beef patty well flavored and grilled to your preference. Start with lunch and stay for supper because you have to try the smokey sticky spareribs.

Heard so many good things about this until I tried it out today for lunch. <br/>The beef was not very great on their burgers which is what they are suppose to be known for, and my one of my patties was about raw on inside as well. <br/>I ordered the Sliders Burger meal which consisted of 3 mini burgers that ain't so mini at all, I could only finish 1 at the time, their chips are good and totally love their selection of peri sauces that our waitress bought to the table. My colleague had a the Zola Zola burger which had plenty of blue cheese on, so if you're a lover of strong cheese that's perfect. <br/>Their presentation & portions of everything is decent and their milkshake selection is totally radical. Not sure if I'll go back. <br/>Also if you sitting outside during the day, be careful of all the birds trying to pick your chips out of your hand.

After hearing rave reviews of how good the burgers at Gibsons are we decided to pop in after work one day(against my better judgment on waterfront restaurants).<br/><br/>We ordered Milkshakes, which were great so we were off to a good start. I ordered a cheese connoisseur and my boyfriend had the governors cheese and bacon. The patties were tiny, and so over cooked and dry, and at R125 and R135 and not worth it at all.  I tried to locate our practically non existent waiter to complain, but after a while of no sightings decided to just eat the burger as I was very hungry. I mentioned it to him afterwards, and the response was "that's just how our burgers are". <br/><br/>It's possible they were just having a bad day as everyone else in Cape Town can't have thought those burgers were good, but they definitely won't be seeing us again.

I love that Gibson's has multiple different vegetarian patties to choose from. I had the Eastern burger and it was delicious. I opted to add cheese to it and was really disappointed that it was a processed square for R20. It's a real disservice to the burger to use such cheese on an otherwise good, gourmet burger.<br/><br/>My fries arrived at the table cold, otherwise they had the right balance of crispiness and flesh. Service was fast and friendly too.

Best milkshakes ever, so absolutely decadent and delicious. Had the beef ribs which was succulent and tasty. Tables inside are bit close to each other but otherwise nice atmosphere. Can't wait to try their burgers on my next visit.

Love the spacious new location, love the burgers. This is one of the best eateries at the V&A for a burger lover like me. The ribs are also irresistible.<br/>With the great variety on the menu and the scenic location, this is a consistent choice for the whole family.

Burgers very average. Nothing very special. Comfortable and clean space. But no real unique experience. Had a little uncomfortable situation. The friends I went with felt racially discriminated by the manager. The restaurant would improve a lot by changing the points above. Thanks

Tried out this restaurant yesterday and what a pleasant experience. I ordered the Nutella milkshake and sirloin steak with mushroom sauce. Usually when dining out, I always swop my fries for veggies but this time I opted not to, their fries were delicious. Overall they are abit pricey but definitely worth every cent.

The food was okay, great cocktails! The service from our waiter Steven was absolutely appalling, he seemed utterly disinterested in us and condescending to boot. The place is really a gem, but the service spoiled my whole experience 🙄. Hope management does something to resolve this.

Ahhhh delicious milkshakes and so many to choose! Tasted the Amarula marshmallow shake mmmm! The vegetarian falafel style burger was excellent but breaks easily and it would be great to have a vegan one but it's definitely yum! Plus sweet potato flies 😍Also must mention that the new interior is modern and stylish! Good job!

Gibson's is the definitely the place to go if you want a great gourmet burger and milkshake! I decided to try their classic beef burger (their chicken burger is a bit bland). When we received our order I decided to order an extra slice of cheese for my burger seeing that it was a bit plain without one. When we received the bill I saw that I was charged R25 for a slice of cheese...quite a high price but it really made the burger. Also ordered a cookies and cream milkshake. There was such a wide variety of milkshakes which made it really tough to choose just one. Our waiter was very efficient and our orders were brought promptly after ordering. The food was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively and relaxing at the same time. The seating space in the front was a bit crowded and lighting was a bit dark but otherwise comfortable and well decorated. Overall it was a really enjoyable night and the food and service were superb, their milkshakes are also definitely worth trying! Their price range is quite high, but the food is well worth it. Great place.

I had the fudge milkshake which was amazing!!!!!! I could have had just that and I would be full for the day. The burger was average, but I would go back.

Biggest tastiest burgers ever haha I honestly enjoyed every bit of my experience here from the walk in the service the food the milk shake everything, only advice I could give is go through the menu before the time so you have an idea of what you want cause there are like 100 different milkshakes and 50 different burgers hahaha absolutely love this place and will definitely come again and recommend it to real burger eaters 🍔😜👍🏼👌🏼

Gibson has a fun feeling about its menu. It strikes the amount of burgers and milkshakes they have. It's definitely a recreational place for teenagers. Quality wise it lacks the taste of other gourmet burgers houses in Cape Town. The icecream of their milkshake is also quite basic, nothing exeptional. So if you look for good food and quality ingredients it's not for you , but if you want to spend a fun hour out with teenage friends it surely suites the purpose.<br/>

I had the best dinner at Gibsons. The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying and worth every cent. The restaurant was very busy on Friday night yet very accommodating. The service was a bit slow due to it being so busy but our waitress was super friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We were torn between the huge variety to choose from. <br/><br/>My dad enjoyed a the Gibsons draft beer to drink. We ordered the Beirut beef burger and swapped the beef patty for a grilled chicken patty. We opted for the hand cut potato chips as a side. We also tried the marinated chicken wings and opted for baked potato as a side. My mom ordered the vegetarian Beirut burger as accompanied with sweet potato chips. All portions were really big and delicious. The Beirut burger had hommus and tahini on it. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight of my meal were the chicken wings. They were divine. The were well marinated in a barbecue sauce and came in a portion of it. I definately recommend this meal. <br/><br/>Overall it was a great dinner.

After how many visits to Gibsons, I decided to introduce friends of mine to this gem. Needless to say, the evening turned into a disaster.<br/><br/>We started off with cocktails which were good! I told my guests about the magnificent lamb ribs because I always raved about them. The one issue we had is that one of my guests is muslim and we asked whether we could change the bacon on the burger to avo. Yes, I know they don't substitute ingredients, but 1 swop out for a R1000+ order. Not tooo much to ask. We eventually ask them to just remove the bacon.<br/><br/>The ribs arrived. What a let down. Tough as can be for R199 a portion. I was so disappointed!! For the amount of times I've been to Gibsons, I'm even more disgusted that when I complained, the manager didn't even apologise.<br/><br/>So thank you Gibsons for all the good ribs for the past years, but tonight was the last. Word of mouth is powerful....

Wow!! Voted best burger joint in the Western Cape and I can see why. The patties are succulent delicious, tender and grilled to perfection. The chips are fluffy, fresh and well seasoned! The menu offers a great variety, containing 100 milkshake options!! They are delicious! The service was very good! On the Waterfront with beautiful views! Will definitely recommend this place!

1st appearance were deceiving, the burgers floating past us looked awesome...<br/>So we ordered drinks, sorry we don't have this beer.<br/>Try again, sorry that is also sold out and that one....What The Fudge..... got one of the standard local beers.<br/><br/>Ordered burgers, medium done please with milkshakes. <br/>All seven was done the same way, over done. Milkshakes only arrive when were almost done, one order - someone took your order...., the best thing of the night was the fries, at least the did not stuff that up.<br/><br/>If you want to charge R120+ a burger, it has to be Very good and your service needs to be excellent, this was crappy to say the least.

Gibson's never disappoints!<br/>I've been here a few times now, each time introducing a new family member to the magical pork ribs!<br/><br/>The staff are friendly, the service is sharp, the food is AWESOME, and the restaurant itself is great too. Cozy on the inside for a cold evening, and stunning views on the outside for a lunch time/early evening visit.<br/><br/>I've yet to try one of the 100 gourmet milkshakes because I'm always stuffed by the time I'm done eating, but they do look amazing!

On of the best burgers I've had in Cape Town and the milkshakes were to die for! Honestly the food deserved a 4.5/5 but the service was not great at all🙈 There seemed to be a huge disconnect between the hostess and the waiters because we were seated very quickly, waited forever to be served but once we had a waiter the service was great. Really a pitty ...

Gibson's...what can I say?!?! Well if you enjoy good milkshakes then I do recommend trying out this place they have a wide variety of amazing, delicious, mouth watering gourmet milkshakes and even fruit/smoothie milkshakes for that are abit health conscious, whenever I go to the waterfront I make sure to pop in for a milkshakes. They are known for their juicy burgers as well. I like variety so I op for the sliders, three juicy not so mini burgers. #ohsojuicy. Try them out!

Gibsons Gourmet Burger & Ribs is located in the trendy and very popular V & A Waterfront in Cape Town. Yes, it’s the hub of all things viby and touristy. With a harbour-like feel, Gibsons do offer you a very unique dining experience. We tried their burger variety and man, was I surprised. Make no mistake, they do not skimp on portion size. Decadently prepared and tastefully presented, our slider experience did not disappoint. Do yourself a favour and order one of their signature shakes as well. A bit pricy, but well worth the trip!

Went to Gibson's for the first time yesterday, and was far from impressed. Their speciality "burgers" were mediocre at best, and for the price? Definitely not worth it. The buns were hard and dry and the burger pattie was burnt. Save your money and go some where else.

Good burgers but struggles to be great. The biggest burger (The Ultimate) is sadly not composed well with no true good food taste. Their onion ring (Onion Bloom) burger is divine and well worth it. Juicy patty and crunchy rings. Side of chips help to top the meal up. A nice place to go if craving a homemade burger. Sometimes more thought is needed in balance when going big,

Patty overcooked and dry. Bread stodgy and old. Cheese rubbery. The only thing I enjoyed was the pepper sauce and the chips. Milkshakes and burgers are heavily overpriced.

Great for a friends lunch or dinner. Milkshakes was great and the variety of burgers too i espicially like the tex mex burger. Staff is friendly.

Gosh I don't know when last I've had such artificial ingredients. I think maybe we get spoiled by all the hipster places. Caramel should not be bright orange and neither should sweet potato. Mushroom sauce should taste like mushrooms. Icecream should taste like cream. Was it the worst burger or milkshake I've ever had? No. I guess not but I couldn't get through more than half of it before thinking it honestly just wasn't worth eating. Feel let down by all the good reviews on here. I expected so much better.

One of the best burger joints around. They have an extensive range and cater to the heart of every carnivore out there. The service is good the staff are friendly and efficient and attentive. The burgers are huge though so go there with an appetite. Definitely a good gathering spot with mates.

Great send off from Cape Town - simply fantastic. Ribs, T-Bone, Sunday Blues Burger and all the four of us happy and satisfied - really nicely cooked food, excellent service - fast and always with a smile, the panoramic scenery to the Table Mountain to top it all! What could we ask for more?

The service is great & staff so friendly. Ultimate burger is huge!! My buddy barely finished half. The sliders could use some variety but tasted great nevertheless. Often go to this restaurant when we're in search of a tasty burger. They keep increasing the prices of the menu items and recently some of the burgers aren't great value for money anymore. All their burgers are tasty (and large). We shared a 800ml milkshake - filled with chocolate pieces and brownies, both within the milkshake and as a part of the toppings. The milkshake needs to be shared between 3 people as it is extremely rich and filling. A great dessert treat but cannot be accompanied with a meal.

The best best milkshake on the planet. The peppermint chocolate milkshake is to die for. The burgers are juicy and the calamari was perfectly cooked.
