Review Eastern Food Bazaar - Cape Town Central

Leon Schnell
This place is a whole vibe. Massive portions of food (either share or take away - you won’t eat it all there), for around R70 to R120/meal. Chinese, Indian, Turkish … and an icecream stall at the end :) I highly recommend the cheese dosa. And taking an Uber so you don’t have to worry about parking.

One place you simply shouldn’t miss when visiting the Mother City is the Eastern Food Bazaar. One entrance is situated on Darling Street and the other on Longmarket Street. This is a 100% Halaal establishment, which has its fair amount of daily customers. This is truly where the locals eat. In this ‘food Open valley’ you’ll find delicious Eastern meals, from Turkish and Chinese to Indian food. And the best part? It is fantastic value for money. You get massive, tasty meals, which taste authentically eastern, for between R25 to R45. The main thing people come for are the curries. Which are all incredibly flavourful. From creamy Butter Chicken to delicious Lamb Rojan Josh, you definitely won’t go home hungry. The dish that I eat regularly is the above, the creamy Butter Chicken. That is R35 for a curry, a huge pile of rice, slaw and lentils. They definitely don’t skimp on anything in this place. Open 7 days a week, this is a food lovers mecca one simply must visit when in Cape Town.

Still a 5 on price vs. taste and portion size. Nice buzz inside. Enjoyed my Tikka pieces with chips and extra chilli 🌶 sauce.

Best place for foodie.. One stop shop for all the variety of Indian, Turkish, Indo.Chinese and a lot of food is available.. Very hygienic and clean process of making food in a live open kitchen counters.. Each meal comes with a good quantity, quality at the best price compared to the local market. Serving all halal meat confirmed by staff which makes it convenient and best choice. Must try Tikka's, Dosa's, felafel and Shawarma.. I really appreciate the team, management and staffs.. keep up the good work... 😊👏

There are so many different types of food to chose from. We have been coming here for so many years to enjoy their food. Their food is amazing. But there are a few negatives in my opinion. Despite there being seating upstairs as well, there were many times that we went to Eastern Food Bazaar and there were no seats for us. Secondly the music plays so loud that you literally have to raise your voice to be heard. The noise sometimes becomes overwhelming. Finding parking is a major problem and it’s quite scary having to park your car far away and walk to the restaurant. Lastly are the vagrants outside which is probably the biggest problem. They do not take no for an answer and if you do not have any money on you, they really make you feel intimidated. Luckily if the problem is too bad then you can always go to Food-in 👌

Love the variety of foods available. My favorite has to be the 'beef shawarma'. It is absolutely delicious. Second on the list is the ice - cream. The almond one in particular is my favorite but it is not always available. However, in the last while, the quality of the food has gone down. It is not as good as it was and the prices have gone up (understandable). I just wish the quality of the food would have stayed the same with the price increase. Otherwise, it is a good place to get a variety of foods to share amongst family and friends.

Great lively atmosphere, generous portions, tasty, and affordable food. Perfect place to satisfy your hunger after a fun filled day in Cape Town
Mayuri Rugbeer
Delicious, prepared infront of you, huge portions and affordable, preferably sharing, if you don't mind a huge portion. Loved it.

smack dab in the city center, and once you step inside, it's like stepping into a whole new world of flavors and smells. The place was buzzing with people, locals, and tourists all mingling around to get a taste of some seriously good Eastern food. They've got food from India, Pakistan, China, and the Middle East There's plenty for everyone, whether you're into veggies or meat. And let me tell you, the food was on point! Each dish had its own unique flavor explosion going on. You could taste the care and love put into every bite. Plus, the portions were generous, and the prices were totally reasonable. It's the kind of place you can go with your crew and chow down after some drinks. Ques are long but wait not too bad. if you're up for a food adventure and want to try some awesome Eastern cuisine, hit up the Eastern Food Bazaar. It's a dope spot with a lively vibe, and you'll leave satisfied

Amazing food!!!! There are no words to describe the amazing food at this joint. You have so mamy varieties to choose from, China town, to Indian. And not expensive at all, meals varying from R50 to R80 and huge portions. We come here monthly about two times. And always bring friends. I recommend to EVERYONE I know. Keep up the hard work.

Eastern Bazaar is one of my favourite gems 💎 in Cape Town City centre. At this bustling halaal canteen-style restaurant, you can enjoy a genuine Cape Town experience. Behind multiple counters, the entire spice spectrum from Bombay to the Bo-Kaap is covered and deliciously so, with meals ranging from Turkish kebabs to Cape-style biryanis, creamy North Indian curries, and authentic tandoor specialties. It's important to try the many savory appetizers, such stuffed puri. Vegetarians have many options. The perfect place to eat when you’re on a budget. I’d recommend their butter chicken curry and Bombay crush (Falooda). Kids love their pizza 🍕 I enjoy a chicken cheese dosa as well. You won’t be disappointed
Stefan Green
Such a great spot, the food was good. The place has a grunge but cool vibe. It has a wide variety of cuisine
zander labuschagne
Love this place it's an absolute gem and really shows the capetonian culture especially cape Malay culture The food is amazing, affordable and interesting. I would really recommend the lamb dossa as well as the yoghurt drink The place is usually quite busy I wouldn't say unsafe
Robin Williams
I went back after years, and the food was still as great. I had butter chicken and garlic naan, it was so good.
Nicolas Cristallides
Absolutely loved it, friendly and welcoming for the whole family. Good service and fast food. Everything Tastes great and very reasonable prices.
Yagya Dollie
The food is first grade. The prices are low. Guaranteed value for money. The food you buy for one person is enough for two, sometimes even three people. Make a point of eating at this great restaurant. All the food is Halaal and the service is excellent. The shop is open 11am to 10pm, sunday to sunday.

Most disgustingly rude staff I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Thank goodness the food made up for it otherwise it would have been one of the worst experiences I've had when it comes to dining.
Gerrit Fortuin
People this is eastern food cuisine at its best !!
Johan Absynth
A Weekly visit is always on the menu when we head into town. Best food in Cape Town!
La Ni
I have always been a huge fan and was very excited to return after a long absence. We ordered our usual manchurian paneer. I don't know if the recipe has been changed or if it was the chef. It was barely edible. Mostly just a lot of cabbage.
Randy Padilla
Delicious! The Indian food here is some of the best in Cape Town!
Vikash Parbhoo
Great food and variety, with good prices too! Truly recommend it to anybody.

Exceptionally good food for a low low price .
Tathagat Verma
Decent food. Average ambiance. Very crowded noisy. Service is fast. They serve huge quantities, so be careful.
Lize
Such a nice place. Best prices, top quality and large portions. Absolutely love this place!
Tayla Martin
Sooooo damn cheap and so damnnnn good!!!! Gosh I will go there so many times if I didn't live so far!!! They serve such fresh food it's unreal!!! And so much!!! Like you definitely get the value for your money!!!! I love this place so much!
Riyaaz Jap Khan
Eastern food bazzar is like a home to my family it's a place we can always fall back to plus the elders love the food they make and the variety of food they can choose from and not to forget the amount of food you get for such little money spend is amazing. Problem it's always full and a struggle to get a table but other then that it's a nice place to be filled with delicious food.
Sabrina De Oliveira
An authentic, delicious and beyond affordable food experience! The portions were more than generous and the variety of options were pretty impressive.
Michael Angelo Van Wyk
A huge improvement flavors are insane, try it peeps. Treat them right then they will treat you right. Just love it, I will keep going back again and again.
Zazizenkosi Phiri
I loved their schwarma. It was so amazing. In general their food is cheap and it's worth every penny. Im definitely going back, It was truly an epic experience
Tselane
Nothing like a good curry after a night out. People complain about their butterchicken but I really enjoy it! Love their garlic naan as well. Good value for money as well
John Public
Lacking ambience and it can be tough to find a table if eating in, but the Indian food was spot on. As long as the naan is fresh and hot, I am a happy camper.
Yugendra Naidoo
My mutton bunny chow was bland and tasteless. Potatoes tasted like I was eating soft, unsalted cooked starch. Also to mention it was watery like it was added to compensate for extra gravy. Mutton pieces were breast which means only fat to eat. As an Indian I know what a good curry tastes like and this was definitely not it. Avoid. At all costs.
Sabeeha Dawood
It was a fantastic experience. The whole concept of the 'stalls' for each Asian meal was brilliant. I guess the location isn't prime but the alley that it is in coincidently goes with the theme. The prices are super cheap for the big portions that they serve. Food is made in front of your eyes and served piping hot. We had the sheesh kebab, tandoori chicken and chicken tikka. We were suprised at how big and generous the portions were. The food was fresh, the salad was fresh and the food was all in all tasty. Not the friendliest of staff but the food and quick service makes up for this. Would definitely recommend this and go back. Fyi there are plenty of vegetarian options for vegans too. And cheap but yummy ice cream!
Yajna Pale
Exceptional Value for money!, I have had the Dosa's and the garlic naan, both were freshly made and really good.I will definitely go back here.
Raman Singh
There are a punch of food "stalls" where you can watch your food being made, with menus posted above. Peruse the stalls/menus and then go to the cashier to order. You'll get two receipts, deliver the small one to the chef at your stall and watch them make it for you. There is seating there and also upstairs. Save room for the delicious ice cream!
Toni Zill
Had an amazing time. I didn't have to wait long to place my order. Amazing choices of food and ice cream. The food is made Infront of you and really fast
Shubha Bhat
Because it's so affordable I eat here often. Also, me & my mom share 1 portion. Most of it's single portions are big enough for two. I love their cheese masala dosa.
CLEM Arnoldus (PHUZZY187)
Totally disgusting will never set food in there again have a look for yourself pictures included. Ordered a Lamb Rogan Gosh to be handed this im not sure what to call it a meatless bone soup with undercooked rice and a dhal that look like runny "you know where im going with this " would never advise tgis place to my worst enemy.
Nira Jagadeesan
Good place for cheap Indian food. The portions are large. It's not very authentic, however. I recommend the dosas and curries. Chicken biryani was bland and not fresh.
Koos Kobber
This is the go to place for Indian food. Reasonably priced and generous portions. A very large selection to choose from.
Had naan bread and the chicken tikka masala on the last visit and it was delicious. The Decor is nice. Seating is limited but upstairs is some larger tables.
Nadeem Abrahams
great value for money I had the lamb curry with Naan.Huge portions. The naan is very good, but the curry is OK,not great. Not spicy, very bland!service was quick, and the staff was not as friendly. But if you go for cheap, big, average eastern food this is the place to go.
Melissa Do Couto
Very, very reasonably priced and generous portions. I had the naan bread and the chicken tikka masala and I would definitely have it again, it was delicious.
Stephan
Excellent food, unbelievable value for money. Never disappoints....a true local hidden secret. Had the butter chicken, scharmas, falafel, lamb curry and many more and always fresh. Huge portions.
Kim
I've only been here twice but the food is really amazing and quite affordable for the amount you get- great value for money! It's always a bit crowded but the waiting time for your food isn't too long. Will definitely be back to try out other items on the different menu's.
Andrea.chetty09
Chicken Vindaloo or Chicken Tikka Marsala also try the Bombay Crush, really good food and vibe busy but good! Staff are also friendly and nice
Jarne Botha
Best BEST place in cape town to find indian cuisine. I cannot put into words how amazing and full of flavour their food is. And big value for money. We even tried their masala ice cream and it was good! So many options to chose from. Avoid going at peak lunch hour but it's actually ao worth the long wait!
Veruschka Rossouw
4.5 for the nicest Butter chicken. I go to Eastern Bazaar on a regular basis and always take Butter chicken and occasionally the Chicken Shawarma in roti. Can never finish it as its sooo big. I normally do Butter Chicken with the garlic naan and can easily just eat the sauce without the chicken. Its always very busy here you have to have a back up person to help you find a place while you pay or collect food. It doesn't take long to find a spot though. Food is delicious for ridiculous cheap for a plate that I can never finish. Will always be a place to visit.
Kaashifa Khan
The best indian food especially chicken vindaloo, naan is awesome exactly the way my mom cooks, friendly staff, clean. Would highly recommend if u looking 4 gr8 indian food
Dev Trull
Very good place for a budget drop in experience. I haven't been disappointed or too imoressed by meals had here before. Seating is also not ideal, dark and dingy setting.

Jessica Semple
The value for money is INSANE. Mega huge portion sizes and for the price the food is absolutely outstanding. I've had many of the curries and other items and everything has been very yummy. Leftovers are even better the next day! Goes down nicely as takeaway with craft beer. It can get very chaotic, so I prefer to eat at home.
Ameerah Abdol
Eastern Food Bazaar. One of my ultimate favorite spots to grab a quick bite when on the go.
The prices are so cheap and the portions are quite generous. Very tasty, freshly prepared Indian foods.
I love love love their Humus and Falaafel dishes as well as their tandoori chicken and butter chicken.
The restaurant has a souk type of vibe. There aren’t much places to sit, but the quick service and good taste makes it all worth it.

I’d definitely recommend this place to everyone and will definitely be going back as often as possible.
Carb Cockrell
This place is my jam! I love the layout with the openings on both sides, the portains are so worth the price! I can eat the egg fried rice and noodles for days. The place can get busy on peak times and I have seen some brutal fights break out... made Jerry Springer look like an episode of Dora the Explorer.
Tia
Eastern Food Bazaar is most definitely accurately named. They have a large variety of eastern cuisines from Punjabi to Istanbul and even Delhi Pizza and ice creams. We ordered their Lamb Rogan Gosh and Butter chicken curry with a side of Garlic Naan. They were both served with rice, dhall and salad on the side. The food was quite nice (and not too badly priced either). Preferred the Butter Chicken to the Lamb Rogan Gosh. I've also tried their Chicken Khati Roll which was interesting, not my favourite but not too bad.

In terms of the seating, there isn't that much given how large the actual place is, but luckily we managed to get a table. There was music playing and the lighting was quite dim. The service is sometimes friendly but on our most recent visit not the greatest.

So in a nutshell, If you're looking for a spot to get some quick decent eastern cuisine then this is the place to go.
JessRice
I ordered butter chicken which was delicious but I suffered from tremendous food poisoning the next morning. My family who ordered other meals seem unaffected.
Aletha Jeftha
One of the few places you can find a masala dosa. Sooo good! The portions here are insanely huge (you can feed a family of four from one meal) and the prices are super cheap! It's always busy ... but food is prepared very quickly. This is hands down the best place to get garlic naan. I'll pop in just for their garlic naan! Skip the curries, there's better places to get curries in Cape Town.
Luis Hernan Paul
The food is really good and seems pretty local. The probs are really big and the price is cheap. It's not fancy by the way. I really recommend going to this place.
The Chowing Bunnies
I've been to the Eastern Food Bazaar a number of times, so I thought I better review this fantastic place.

If you're visiting Cape Town for the first time, I would highly recommend a visit to this CT institution. The prices are unbelievably cheap (especially for the very large portion sizes) and the atmosphere is always buzzing.

It's no fancy joint, expect street style/ canteen vibes here. Queue in one line to place your order (the variety is endless, there's Indian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine on offer) and then queue again for your food- even with loads of people, the queues move relatively fast and you don't wait long for food.

I've had the butter chicken a number of times and more recently I've been ordering the chicken korma- it's fantastic! Of course- no curry is complete without a garlic naan! I've heard great things about the falafels too.

Definitely a CT must try!
FoodloverJHB
This is one of those places that you HAVE to visit if you are in Cape Town. At times it can be sooo noisy, messy and crowded, but that is exactly what makes the experience so unforgettable.

I cannot count how many times I have been back since stumbling upon it by accident a few years ago.
There are so many options to choose from and the smells in the place makes you want to order 7 dishes all at once.

I think this is as close to authentic Indian food as one can come in SA.
Muneeb M Burton
Never disappoints, been there again this evening, thought of going somewhere else but due to us fasting today we decided to go to old faithful 5 stars again...
Claire Taylor
When the craving hits, this is the place to be! With several counters offering a variety of Eastern Culinary Varieties, you'll be spoilt for choice.
My personal favorite is the Chicken Vindaloo and Naan! (Salivating already!)
Don't expect a restaurant 'sit-down-with-service' spot. There is no waiter service, and you pay upfront when you order at the counter of your choice. This is fast, street-style-type food with flavours that will blow your mind. You might not even get a seat at peak times, but the meals are worth it!
Cheap, tasty street food with generous portions, an authentic street-food atmosphere and budget-friendly options. It is what it is, and it's amazing!
I go at least once a month for my curry fix 😄
Healthy Conscience J.
Iv tried the dahl here three times, great stuff when u want a quick, filling or non expensive meal. There are many different foos stores here so quite a pick.
Leandra Mouton
Messy and crowded, but definitely a favourite! Real Eastern curry with the most amazing Naan bread. Portions are huge and prices low. Also loooove their ice cream
MrsAdams
Love eeeeverything about this place even tho its messy sometimes 🙈 but i think thats just because their food is so amazing and cheap! Who doesnt enjoy eating good food at a good price and portions? Oh just the best , if i had to choose between food inn and eastern bazaar i would choose eastern bazaar twice

My long time chommie Saarjie@Sarah Woodward and I got curryfied at this bustling and spicy urban in-and-out venue last night. Even standing in the long queue for our food felt festive and fun. Plus! There was plenty of young eye candy students stockpiling their own delicious and very affordable meals. Sarah had the Butter chicken and I noshed my way through a mammoth portion of lamb Rogan Josh. Even the sidebowl of dhaal that accompanied my lamb was rich and flavoursome. I had curry sauce in my hair and behind my ears when we left there, a clear indication that I enjoyed myself. Followed by the ultimate "happy ending" a scoop of Nutella ice cream and an equally generous scoop of the salty peanut variety. Love in my tummy.
Nilanjan Dev
Its like a eat street or food court. There are multiple counters, u pay at one billing desk and go to the respective counter for the food you ordered. Its damn cheap. The taste is average though but for that price its very very good.
Sarah Mcghie
Finally got around to going here and was really impressed! There is a lot of choice which is overwhelming! However we decided to get Chinese! We had the sweet and sour chicken with rice and spicy chicken with noodles! They were 5 minutes from closing time but were still friendly and helpful! The food was super quick, the portions were hugely satisfying and the price is super reasonable!
Will definitely go back!
TK Boulais
I have to preface this by saying I am not Indian and know nothing about authentic Indian cuisine. But in my opinion this was super tasty and inexpensive Indian food. I had the butter chicken and garlic naan. So delish! And I enjoyed watching the cook prepare the garlic naan. Eat here.. it's yummy and cheap.
Cape Foodie
This is mass produced, hearty curries prepared by cooks from India directly at a cheap price relative to portion size. Walking in you are hit by an array of curry smells, all ready to be served up in a few minutes. The stuffed parathas are great, the naan are prepared fresh - and if you like garlic you are in for a treat. Falafel balls are also tasty, and the dosas can be recommended. The curry portions are HUGE, go for the lamb - the veg leaves alot to be desired. For vegetarians have the falafel and hummus they are great! Never got a Dehli Belly here, not to fear.
Lauren Niekerk
Great eastern cuisine place situated in the CBD! The staff there are always friendly and helpful. Takeaways are served quickly and efficiently. The food is great and good value for money.
Nabeelah Shaboodien
Whenever I'm in town and looking for quick, tasty food, this is my go-to spot. Don't expect 5-star food but for the price and convenience I'll go there anytime.

The last time I went, we ordered a chicken pizza (R50 for a large pizza!), masala dosa (R35) and a falafel pita (R40 with chips).

The pizza was filling and there was no shortage of toppings. The masala dosa was delicious and the portion was also large. The falafel pita was served with 5 falafel balls and a huge side of chips, and it was one of the best falafel pitas I've ever had.

Some of my other favourites also include the chicken tikka and chicken fried rice.

If you're looking for meals that are prepared quickly with large portions and cheap prices, this is the place to go to.
Sash Gaffoor
Variety of foods - well Indian foods , didn't enjoy the pizza but loved the chicken dosa ...haven't tried much else ...portions are very big
Bhavna Naidoo
Decided to try this place out on Saturday. It feels a bit like a canteen or food court, was really packed. The Indian doors are beautiful... There is alot variety, from shwarma, dosa, massive bunnies, curries and even pizza.
Being Indian I never have really high expectations of indian food done by non indians as its generally not authentic but from looking at the reviews and knowing friends have eaten there I decided to give it a try... Had the 'lamb rogan gosh' which looked like a very popular choice, had it with garlic naan and butter naan. The curry came with basmati rice and dhal, alot for the price. The meal was enough for 2. The naan was ok but the curry however tasted mediocre at best. Not a real curry at all, it was completely flavourless. Im not sure it was even lamb, tasted like it could have been mutton that was boiled before putting into the gravy. I dont know if the other items on offer are better but I doubt I will go back and find out.
Gabriel Stein
Food is so so tasty here! Definitely the ideal place to come to after a night out. The staff is super friendly and open to a laugh. Definitely come here to satisfy your need for Eastern cuisine.
Yusuf R Shaik
Budget prices for delicious and filling meals. This is one of my favourite eating places in Cape Town. There is a wide variety of Indian and Asian meals on offer, all good quality and delicious. It's self service so you have to queue up at the relevant counter (there's various counters each with it's own unique meal menu) and wait for your food before finding a place to be seated. There's usually ample seating downstairs and upstairs but it can get quite busy during lunch time so be prepared to wait a little for your food. It's well worth the wait, though. The highlight is the ice cream counter which has quite a variety of real, delicious ice creams on offer.I would have rated 5 stars but finding parking close by can be an issue during the busy times.
Naidooselona
My 1st trip here and all those aromas took me back home to my moms kitchen. Not the conventional dining set up but if you have been India then you would understand that this is nothing short of the Indian experience. I tried the chicken karthi roll and it's was excellent and fresh. Marsala dosa was ok but lacks the condiments which are much needed. My bestie had a craving for chicken breyani but was left disappointed as it lacked all the authentic flavors of good breyani.
Overall a good experience .
Chris Rafael
One of the very first food places I ever visited in Cape Town recommended by a friend. Right in the heart of the CBD the shear amount of choice is outstanding! This is definitely the one stop shop for anything Indian inspired and the portions are huge. Good value for money and depending on what you order the quality goes from good to excellent. Love that most thins are prepared in front of your eyes.
Joel Paarwater
One of m favorites Indian cuisine spots for well priced meals. The staff are friendly and upon entering yo are greeted by all the glorious smells of rich curry spices. Delicious food and a great atmosphere.
Nadia Janse Van Rensburg
Def the best place for curry, budget and a different buzzing spot. Omw... for R35 i got a tray full of veg curry, lentil soup, rice and salad and for R15 a big garlic naan bread... the curry is all a curry must be, full od flavour and perfect amount of bite. The cater from lamb, chicken to veg curries, pizzas, pitas and lots more. Unique spot and with winter around the corner... go and treat your tummy with the best curry in town. #veganoption #vegcurry #capetowneat #curry #uniquespot #trending #budget

This restaurant is the stuff dreams are made of, whether you're popping on after a big night out or passing by to grab a midweek dinner. Affordable, tasty, and with plenty on offer from Chinese food to middle eastern to Indian. Whatever you do: don't leave without a garlic naan bread.
Steven Edwards
Authentic Asian food and great value for money. Eastern food bazaar is somewhere I always take friends/family who love a good butter chicken curry and want an experience of the heart of the city
Zazooni
The food used to be of much better quality now its just cheap and dirty. The vibe is still good but no more Eastern food Bazaar for me.🙁🙁🙁
Hamish McCready
A wide variety of delicious curries in extremely generous portions. Value for money is excellent; this is the place to go for a no-frills meal in a trendy part of Cape Town.
Rita Velez Grilo
Great food and great experience. The cooks could be nicer but then for the price you're paying you wouldn't be expecting a top service. Anyway, it's a great and different experience.
Maulin Parekh
May 2 dinner: Last day in CPT on our vacation and since a friend had recommended this one, we went. This is actually like a road side eatery that has been packaged as a place with different cuisines like a food court. We ordered veg biryani, aloo paratha, paneer dosa, cheese masala dosa and veg fried rice. The food is of very average quality and except for the aloo paratha and fried rice, didn't have that taste. The quantity is also too much and at least, we couldn't finish everything. If one is on a visit to CPT, one should rather avoid this.
Tondani Ndou
I've been here before and it was such an amazing experience but I went there yesterday and I ordered the chicken curry (takeaway) and from the moment I smelt it I knew something was off but I continued to eat in hopes that It was just me. This morning I woke up to a runny tummy.
They gave me chicken that was off and tasted like it was rotten. The salad we were given was not fresh at all. I'm so sad and disappointed because I actually like this place.
I legit have trust issues now. Please provide customers with fresh food.
Laylah Fay
I always come here after a night out. Love the vibe! They really take fast food to a a different level. Their chicken and cheese masala dosa is the best 🌶
Maroussa Mamma
The service was fine but the food not fair to price. Low prices for extra low food offer. I believe the neighborhood is ok only during day time.
Pranaya Gandhi
Best place for indian food . The disaat there are very good .It's as authentic as you get in Mumbai restaurants . Reasonable prices and you will get almost everything what u want in indian food here . Easy to locate
Clayton Sciocatti
Curries are amazing, especially the butter chicken. Great value for money. Awesome vibe, feels like a market in India. Will keep coming back here.
Morgan Lehy
The decor is incredible, and while it's obviously not known for being the most fancy place, I always find myself driving in their direction. My favourite dishes are the Rogan Josh and the Chicken Tikka - they are always delicious. Cooked with the perfect amount of spice, never dry or undercooked, and insane value for the meal. I take my family whenever they are in Cape Town. There is a reason this place is always so busy, you will not get a better value curry!
Georgia Blueberrii
Most affordable food in Cape Town but has amazing flavour. Variety like none other. Can be a little touch and go sometimes but I guess that's always the case with non gourmet street food.
Anthea Chittenden
After so many trips to Cape Town I finally got to visit the tunnel of a thousand curries, ok, maybe not so many but felt like it! What a surprise visiting this vibrant oasis in the heart of the CBD. If a fan of all things spicy, this is a MUST do. I love northern Indian curries but here you are spoilt for choice from all sorts of regions. My rating is for a mixture of quality, speed, enormous portions, price (cheap as chips) and all round adventure. It's jammed packed at all times of the day, they close late too, tables turn quickly and are cleaned regularly. Truly is a rainbow nation of cultures and races. Be back soon.
Saabirah Hare
Best place for curries, bunny chows and everything indian. This is my go to place for indian food because they are cheap and have big portion sizes. You can even go here as a family and buy various things and share it. They have very interesting things. I love their butter chicken as well as their pizzas 🍕
Amit Bhana
Got sick from eating the lamb schwarma, twice. Their food seems to go off very quickly after being left for a bit... take away from the Chinese food. Good lacks quality
Jessica Zef
You get a lot of food for a really cheap price but the curries lacks flavour. The chicken pizza and the wraps are good. Atmosphere is nice. The place is very busy. Always a que and the tables are packed - upstairs seems to be a bit quieter though.

Eastern Food Bazaar is an interesting experience. Just watching the food being made was intriguing! I had a cheese and chicken dosa masala which was really comforting and the curry sauce added a great flavor.

If you want cheap, delicious food with huge portions - this is the place to go. Sadly, their food is not quite as good as it used to be, thus not quite getting a 4.0 score from me. However, given the price and portion , I am always happy to come back here for a quick meal or takeaway. The fact that they have so many different types of cuisine on offer is great if you are dining with friends or family with diverse tastes. They have Indian, Chinese, Pizzas, and Shawarmas too.
My all time favourites are: The chicken fried rice , Falafel in pita, paneer makhani , their bunny chows as well as their Peshwari Naans.

This is a lovely gem! Food is awesome and they have really generous portions. Everyone should try this place at lease once, can never go wrong.

Always wondered about this place and a few sundays back my friend dragged me all the way there... I loved it...felt like a kid in a candy store. Was bit confused (thank heaven my friend is a regular ) ..food is good ,nice and clean. Only thing I dont like is the unfriendly cooks at some stations. But guess serving 100's is no joke. Will go there over and over again

Can't believe it's taken my so long to try this gem! At Eastern Food Bazaar you're spoilt for choice - they have food from all corners of Asia. The Masala Dosa and lentil curry my friend and I had were packed with flavour and the wait time was minimal. Everything is so well priced as well! Definitely will be coming back soon.

This is the best value for money food spot in cape town. It's not the most hygienic, nor the fastest service. But the taste and quantity of food make this really worth it! Just go in the the street food mentally and you will love it. Palak paneer and a garlic naan is my favourite meal. Prepare to have leftovers!

I generally don't get a very hygienic or high quality vibe from this place but I guess that's authentic of Indian street food. Their portions are very generous for the price. This place is always busy and the lines are quite long but there are many managers on the floor who try to direct the traffic and keep it organised. I'd recommend the cheese masala dosa for when you need an urgent dosa fix!

I think it would be unfair to rate this place by its quality of food. You come here because the food is dirt cheap, there are more options than you could ever eat and you somehow feel like you could just be in India. I love the organised chaos of this place. Order yourself butterchicken with naan for under R50 and you're good.

The place where you get an insane variety of foods at extremely cheap prices. You'll get more than your money's worth but not everything tastes good.

I am concerned about the overall sanity of this place. After already paying and placing my order, I have been told they they did not have what I specified and they opted to give me something else.

On another occasion, I've seen two chefs discreetly whispering and whipping out the cubed chicken I asked for from an oven that cannot be seen. My chicken was dry and tasted old as if it was not made that day.

It's great when you're on a tight budget, but if you're a sanitary freak, I suggest you do not go there as you will be regretting it.

Eastern Food Bazaar has a vibey buzzing atmosphere almost any day and night of the week. I eapecially love the decor which ia something unique in Cape Town and perhaps South Africa (although I spotted a branch on Vredendal of all places) Their prices are cheap and their portions are more than generous.

So why the low rating? Because they're food is diluted and tasteless suited for the European and North American tourist. My opinion is that if you're going to sell Indian food, make Indian food. Don't give us the entire cultural experience without the authentic taste.

That being said, try the Chicken Hakka Noodles. Not bad at all

Been here once after a hike 🙈 I had the butter chicken and so did Sashen. It was average at best. It's rather busy though as they have a variety of stations offering diff types of foods. I would go back to try out the Chinese section.

I think the food is okay for a fast food outlet & their service is fast despite how full it gets. The eastern cuisine is great, the curries & bold flavours

Good to see so many people waiting in que for Indian food. Tikka kabab was soft n juicy. Minced mutton curry worth trying. All meal come with rice, daal n salad.Value for money and good taste.

Been nearly 45 days since I had some dosas which used to be my staple breakfast or dinner back in madras. So we planned for this place today for lunch and we ordered for cheese and chicken masala cheese dosas, chicken curry with noodles and some samosas. Food is as usual above par and provided the fact that we were starving and it adds up the nostalgia since we are away from home. It's so sad to see that many authentic Indian dishes are missing and most of them are northern Indian or punjabi. They should refresh their menus are bring out so many amazing hidden dishes from different parts of India and then call this a real bazaar.

Eastern Bazaar is quite interesting, too say the least. There is quite a wide variety of food to cater for every need. Sometimes its hard to find a seat. I had the falafel with pita bread once and it was average, the prices are reasonable too.

Apparently this is one of the places that everybody must visit before they leave Cape Town :') I don't like where it's situated, though. I found it really difficult to grab a decent parking spot nearby.
I liked it, even though I'm not into the whole cafeteria/buffet style of dining. But hey, if you don't mind buffet, then you'll be in a foodie heaven!
Loved the indo-Chinese stir fries and you can even buy some authentic Indian samoosas here. There is delicious gelato and traditional Indian sweet meats to satisfy your sweet cravings. The lassi was good.
Service is a bit shoddy, but don't let that faze you - at the price you pay, the quantities you receive and for the taste, it's rather decent!

I'd heard so much about this place so I thought I might as well stop by for a quick afternoon snack. The atmosphere is very vibrant. Lots going on. The selection is HUGE and everything is very well priced. I ordered the 'mixed platter' which included chilli bites, a chicken samoosa, & a vegetarian samoosa. Will definitely be back to try the tikka chicken masala.

Totally love their food. Especially the Chicken Schwarma with pita bread and chips. If they could deliver I'd give them a 5. But it's delish nonetheless.

One of my favorite spots in Cape Town.
The food is top notch and so so much value for almost no money. Which helps cause I drink alot of wine. It can get crazy busy but just tell the German tourist lies and they will leave.

Large portions and such a value for money! if you want hearty indian food at a very affordable price, then this is definitely a must visit! To top it all off, the decor is BEAUTIFUL!

If you are looking for big portions and a variety of Eastern food, then look no further. The average price is R40. You pay Forrest at the register them hand your slip to the stall where you choose your food. Quick and yummy.

Great portion sizes, great prices, decent food. Quantity surpasses quality but that's expected for the budget costs👌 sometimes the queues can be pretty bad as well...

A lazy house wife's dream!!Or any lazy's for that matter. The food is great, the portions are HUGE; and I mean sharing huge! The food is always fresh as they are so busy. The curries are as good as any expensive indian restaurant in Cape Town and the shawarmas, masala dosa and falafel and hummus is a must. The best is: they are cheap!Like in....you can eat here everyday of the week and save- on-groceries-cheap. The vibe is true Capetonian....a melting pot of culture, race, style, rich and poor; all having one thing in commen: A delicious meal.♡

The concept is cool. An alleyway filled with eastern cusine with loads to choose from. Their food is good but the curries often taste a bit bland for me and lack heat. I personally feel that they use too much of the aromatics and the taste lingers on in the paneer makhani. The chicken cheese dosa is really filling and is tasty. The decor is what's expected from an alleyway but could do with some sprucing up. Best to take your food home. It's an experience and is a good choice for when you're feeling for something a bit different for lunch.

Great value for money! Great location! many places to choose from! very authentic food. If you just want a decent curry when you in the CBD this is the place you want to be. Prices are great, self service, and good food.

Horrible food. We took the vegetarian options. Nothing was decent tasting. The Chinese food was good worth eating. Rest everything was like a punishment on a plate. The worst of all was paneer makani.
