The best meal I ever had was slow cooked for 50 Hours (yes 50 hours) in Paris. No meal ever came close to this dish and I never thought one would until ........ I had the Neil Pendock and the Lemon Tart at Societi Bistro in Cape Town. It was close but in the end the Neil Pendock and Lemon Tart knocked my meal in Paris out of it's top spot and I can now confirm that the best dish I have ever eaten was at Societi Bistro.
Great spot with a cosy bar to enjoy some red wine by the fireplace! All of their wines are served by the glass so you are spoilt for choice. Would defnitly recommend!
What an awesome atmosphere,my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there on Thursday evening, the staff were so friendly, the food was delicious from the mushroom risotto to the succulent duck breast, our waiter, Craig was very attentive and friendly.....I will defnitely refer people to Societi Bistro, and we will be returning to try the rest of the menu.
I was so impressed with Societi this evening. Never been, friends birthday, big table and thought it could get chaotic. Craig, our waiter, was awesome and really handled himself so professionally. My ostrich burger was the best I've had in years being tender, juicy and full of flavor. Great atmosphere and really just an awesome and welcoming restaurant to visit. I will certainly return.x
I've come here again and this time I brought a group of friends for a surprise birthday. The staff go above and beyond to create the best night every time. The food, as usual, was a taste sensation. Everybody had an amazing night and our waiter was too wonderful. Thank you Societi
Well went for dinner with Letitia Thiart van Taak at Peters place besides the awesome company the food was just to die for and yes the desert is a must please people I thought I had died and went to heaven thx Peter Tish and Cherry mwah what a awesome evening
LEGENDARY!!!! This place, wow wow wow. Wonderful food impeccable service, thanks Hilton. My 1st time at Societi Bistro and I will definitely be back. Did not know what to expect but was extremely satisfied
Amazing food and service! Our waiter, Daniel was so polite and served us well. Our meals were brought swiftly and did not disappoint. Really awesome evening
Just had the best, most amazing Seared Tuna dish Ever !!just when I'm disappointed because the last fantastic special dish is not on special......they surprise me with another even better dish.
As always delicious, superb, affordable dining! From the starters; Caesars Salad to the subtly vodka-infused Watermelon, Mint & Feta salad - all the way through to the Duck-Breast, Steak au Moutarde and (my favourite) the Mushroom Risotto.
Wonderful service by our waitron Keri and a lovely "courtesy visit" from the owner, Peter.
Excellent service. Wonderful Wine. Raine, the waitor, epic personality & wonderful hospitality The dessert is to die for!!
Thank you

One of my absolute favourite restaurants in the City Bow, with the very best service. I highly recommend the mushroom risotto and the steak. Wonderful atmosphere and superb service.
A friend and I did the Labia dinner special (amazing value for money!)
Societi is lovely, if you cant sit outside and enjoy the incredible view, inside is charming too! The waiters are friendly and attentive.
We both opted for the Pasta with Olive Oil and Herbs which looked deceivingly small but was a perfect portion. The pasta was delicious and fresh, the wine was super affordable and they served ones that aren’t usually on every restaurant menu! I’d highly recommend.
Quaint little place. Service was very efficient and good. I heard that their baked cheesecake is rather good but opted for chocolate nemesis which was great!
Great place!! Excellent and very attentive service well spoken and very knowledgeable.. very relaxing and warm and cozy.. great food and wine for your more cozy and comfortable night out .. recommended for sure 😊 #winningdatenight
I had mixed feelings after my visit to societi bistro, after good reviews from friends, we decide to attend a theatre play on a cold Saturday evening, the fireplace was a welcoming feature, however, it started smoking and had to be extinguished, such a disappointment against the Cape cold, my companions had the mushroom risotto, steak with vegetables and veal stew, which they noted was@ tasty, the fresh baked bread was the joke of the evening, as we expected warm, freshly baked bread... I had the pancetta and bacon dumplings in a cabbage soup, and osso bucco stew, bit salty, veal was tender and soft, bit disappointed in the taste as I love this favourite milanese meal, the great thing about the bistro is the service, the waiter was friend and very attentive, on his recommendation we had the hartenberg cabernet shiraz was perfect with the risotto, all in all i will review again in the summer, when we can enjoy the outside venue...
Really nice furnitures, the restaurant is really warm inside for winter and the garden is perfect for summer. Staff is really friendly and the food is as goos as the selection of wines
What springs to mind when you think of Italy? This beautiful European country has enchanted travellers for eons and continues to work it’s magic upon travellers today. Italy offers so much for everyone that is fortunate enough to visit. The beauty of Italy’s landscape is undeniable and is famous for it’s gorgeous and bountiful vineyards, stunning Mediterranean coastline, majestic mountains, glistening lakes and abundant wildlife.
I initially wanted to watch a movie at The Labia and found out about the Societi Bistro food/movie special afterwards.
The food was amazing, I had Pasta with chicken, bacon and feta which was a dream. The fact that they add parmesan at the table also just took it to another level. They also need to keep their homemade bread recipe safe!!
The service was amazing and the setting is lovely, even though I was seated outside on a cold night.
I'm definitely coming back again.
Went for the Labia special last night which was extremely worth it! The restaurant has a beautiful outside tables set up in the garden. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The pomodoro pasta was a bit bland and could do with a bit of seasoning. However, the tagliatelle pasta itself was light and tasted homemade. The complimentary bread was a good bonus!

Omg the best meal I've had in a long time!!!! This is the Fillet Au Poivre ❤️. Wine 🍷: Rupert & Rothschild Classique. I loved it 💕. Excellent service as well. Thanks Craig.
Loved it. Been here a couple of times now, and the quality of the food is still of the highest quality
I can definitely recommend this place to any one.
A Gardens gem. We came for their signature pasta and Labia Theatre special. I had the Pomodoro pasta with chicken, and butternut. It was absolutely delicious.
We tried the 'chocolate nemisis' for dessert and it was equally as satisfying. The chocolate base was a dark chocolate; very rich and not too sugary.
The ambiance here is also magnificent. Very quaint and makes for the perfect date venue.
I'll definitely be back for another pasta + labia special
One of my favourite Cape Town restaurants. Went here for my birthday lunch and it was sensational from start to finish. The exceptional culinary standard combined with excellent service and a great setting make this a 5 star experience. Food is served beautifully but in a distinct "no mess no fuss" style that really works. Everything we had was delicious. I can especially recommended the snails, the seared tuna, the Beef bourguignon, the sirloin with bernaise and hand cut chips, the Prawns and the lamb shank.
Yet again, a great evening with tasty food. The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere and waiters with impeccable service and attention to detail.
I recently had lunch at Societi with a couple friends. I had been before a couple years back for dinner and remember finding the place charming and thoroughly enjoying my mushroom risotto.
This time we sat outside and had a picturesque view of Table Mountain. The food was delicious as we tried the Ostrich burger, the chicken as well as the 'maybe corpaci' pasta. I had to have the chocolate nemesis dessert which was a chocolate overload but I loved it!
The service was good but I did find the waiter was not patient when asked about various recommendations.
Very cute and cozy spot. Typical Bisro vibes, service fast, food good and wine even better. The special for The Labia theatre is nice and great date night idea. I would like to try some more items on the menu, but liked what I did have. I can't remember what I ate cause I was on a date and she had beautiful freckles.
This was an amazing experience from the minute i walked in. Our waiter was friendly and quick. The food exceeded my expectations the wine menu was impressive.
Visited this place on my 'solo exploration night'. Went to Labia for a movie so I decided to do the special. R45 for a movie and dinner for one -yes please. So you basically get the pasta and it's optional for you to add extra 's to the dish, I had the chicken & butternut. Chicken had great flavours, perhaps I should have chosen something other than the butternut. Either way, it was really good service. Loved my waiter. Friendly staff. This place could teach some restaurants about customer service. I definitely plan to return with some company next time.
Had a business dinner at Societi. The venue has a rustic old world charm and is comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The restaurant has a great wine list and lots of specials. I had the mussels for starters. They were fresh and the sauce was delicious. For mains I had the kudu fillet with a delicious red wine and bone marrow reduction. All the food was well prepared and delicious. I recommend this as a great place for a night out.
Were greeted by Nina who passed us over to Kerry. WHat a magnificent experience. Forget about the pasta which was divine as was the Chocolate Nemisis(really). The friendly service and great staff,so down to earth(Kerry thanks for a wonderful evening.)They will remember us because they even attempted to fix my specs!!!we ordered and were given our food within 10 minutes of ordering. We have only been there on 2 occasions but were very impressed on both.By the way their coffee is to die for . Thanks guys

The Chocolate Nemesis dessert is so decadent and sinfully delicious! The name says it all :-) Lovely spot for sundowners, with great ambience.
A real family place. The food was simple delicious and the service was one of the best I have experienced in a long time. If you looking to treat yourself (or it's the beginning of the month) I would highly recommend it
Cozy and romantic setting. Friendly waiter and good service. I had the pork for mains and to be quite honest it was one of the best main meals i have had in a loooong time 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 very generous portion, stuffed with apple and sage and served on sweet potato mash. My tummy was happy - added bonus of having leftovers today. Will DEFINITELY be back soon!
We had the most amazing experience last night with good friends. Excellent service from the word Go with Craig tending to our every need. I decided to go big and started with the mushroom risotto with wilted spinach. What a rich creamy experience! I had the pork neck with buttery mash and a sauce that contains bacon! All hail the pig...what an amazingly succulent dish. My husband had the venison and he was in culinary heaven too as were many of my other guests. For those that werent 100% happy the kitchen kindly obliged to make the minor changes required. My friend who used to own her own restaurant noted that the true test of a restaurant is its creme brulee and it's lemon tart. While the lemon tart could have been more lemony and acidic the creme brulee was excellently baked. I literally however cannot fault the service at all and am mad impressed with Societi!

Went for dinner two nights ago..was very busy thankfully they managed to squueze us is..what a fabulous place..had the tomato soup which was good..for mains had the heather pasta - WOW..The pasta was amazing, one of the best pasta i have had..had the chocolate nemesis dessert again WOW..i will def be back..keep up the great food and service
Ordered the Jackie Burger. Amaaazzzing... Pork was simply melt-in-your-mouth. So tender! Taste and presentation blew me away. Excellent service. Very decent selection of wines to pick from too. Good place to take someone special for a cozy night out :)
Last night we took advantage of the Labia x Societi movie special, and were super impressed with our dinner. I ordered the pasta with herbs/olive oil, and added cream and mushroom. The pasta is fresh and the serving is generous. We were also treated to a slice of the flourless dark chocolate cake, which was amazing. Definitely going back soon.
We visited Societi Bistro on a quiet Tuesday night. Although parking was a little hassle, once we made it into the restaurant we were greeted and seated. The menu is limited but in the best way - it helps make those tough foodie choices when there is only so much to choose from. Don't get me wrong though - all the choices are incredible-sounding. Between myself and my 2 companions, we had the sirloin with bearnaise and chips, the fillet with a peppercorn sauce & spinach and the Sylvie Hurford pasta with braised lamb & tomatoes. All were scoffed and enjoyed - perfect portions all well cooked and seasoned. The real gem for me at Societi is the wine list - so often a visit to a restaurant is met with the same wine choices from the same farms, where Societi Bistro offers a well-thought out selection from some less expected places. While I only managed to try a glass or three of the Beuamont Chenin Blanc, I'd love to go back to Societi to try some more - along with the other menu items we didn't get to explore.
Societi Bistro is a go-to restaurant for special occasions. It has an extensive and dynamic menu, the service is good, the atmosphere is great (except for one or two tables right near the kitchen, but they admit this), there are always sufficient veggie options, and it's classy. Oh, and the food is excellent!
There's a bar at the back called The Snug, which is a terrible name for anything, and they've closed off the physical, you know, horizontal-slab-of-wood sort of bar because the folk in the kitchen were complaining about the smoke. So there are things that could be better, is what I'm saying. But I only know this because I've been drinking there for absolute years, which probably says rather more. Not necessarily nice things.
Good wine list, good smokey veneer, and you don't get bothered much. Pretty near top marks, as bars go.
I haven't here yet as the prices are a bit expensive but the wine list is nice with affordable options. Great spot to get some work done. The service is phenomenal and the staff are all incredibly friendly. I highly recommend Societi (especially of budget allows).
I love Societi Bistro! Especially for their movie night special at the Labia across the road. (R45 for a pasta plus movie ticket). Last night I had the olive oil and herb pasta with extra olives and chilli, which was delicious. The pasta itself was so fresh and I like how the waiter grates fresh Parmesan onto your plate at the table. I had a glass of Mulderbosch Chardonnay and it paired beautifully with the pasta.
This evening was a Labia special dinner with free movie which is really good value and the pasta with herbs and olive oil was lovely. The restaurant is cosy inside and has a great atmosphere and the menu is good - must come back and try other dishes!
The restaurant is located on a busy road but there's a great view of table mountain. The Labia Theatre special is very good - 90 rand for two pastas and two movie tickets. I had he olive oil, herb, feta and olive pasta which was very tasty.
Societi Bistro is always a lovely place to visit. I don't go there often - I don't know why - but always have a grand time when I do. They have some really amazing foodie items on their menu, and regularly change the menu according to the season, which I think is great. Some of my favourite dishes I recently tried include the squid-dyed spaghetti, lamb fettuccine, and the most amazing pork belly with stone fruit ever. Absolutely delicious!
Although I don’t quite get the point of naming dishes after people, I’m a huge fan of Societi Bistro. The food always has a special air about it and the service is balanced perfectly between informal and attentive. I also appreciate how the chef reaches out to the community – I have been lucky enough to win a spot on a pre-season tasting panel, for example. Finally, the tours through France and Italy are annual highlights that are, on a culinary level, practically as good as the real things.
One of the best in Cape Town. I was a little disappointed with the portion of pasta I ordered, but it tasted great. Please check out this place, but stay clear from ordering a starter portion for your main. I would rather opt for a meaty main next time instead. Tasted the hammock and it was brilliant!
I don't know how many times I've walked past this place. I've always wanted to go in and see what it has to offer. I and boy oh boy was I in for a treat!
The one distinct thing about this restaurant is the service. The attention to detail and the friendly staff that it has. I had a splendid time there with a glass of Pinot Grigio in hand.
Well that's one restaurant scratched off my eating list and I'll definitely be coming back for more to try out their Spring menu!
Exceptional from entry to exit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, vast wine selection to suit all pockets and tastes. We had the fillet and pork belly, both exceeded expectations. Save space for the chocolate nemesis! Thank you Society Bistro. See you again soon.
Great place! Lunch in the spring sun- salad, seared tuna, pasta and lemon tart- all excellent. And the Muldersbosch and Springfield wines, fabulous. Good service from Lucas. Loved the Uber deal I got too!: http://societi.co.za/uber/
Third visit to societi bistro and it's always a good time. Great service, great ambience. I had the Bianca Coleman, though I'd never heard of ham hock before, figured I'd try something new. Waiter promised crisp on the outside and tender on the inside and whilst it wasn't as tender as I'd hoped, and a little tricky to get into at the table, it will make for great leftover lunch today. Definitely will be back, many many more times!
We visited Societi Bistro for dinner recently and it was everything I expected it to be (and then some). Societi Bistro has been on my foodie bucket list for the longest time. I have only ever heard great things about them, so saying that I was excited is a bit of an understatement. Located in the heart of Gardens and set in an old converted Georgian-style house, they have managed to create an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. We immediately felt “at home” as soon as we stepped through the front door. There are several rooms to dine in, with wooden floors, fireplaces, quirky art, gentle lighting and soft background music throughout. There is also an outside terrace which would be lovely in the summer months and a bar area in the back for after work drinks and catch up sessions.
Societi Bistro is a nice little place.
I met with my family here a while ago for the Labia special (R45 for a basic pasta and a Labia movie ticket) and we quite enjoyed it. The waitress was great, the food smells were wonderful and the sun was hitting our little corner outside just right.

Eclectic spot with a good vibe, nice menu and big selection of wine. Had the pornstar cocktail - a have to have. A passion fruit and champagne concoction served with a passion fruit in its shell. Worth a try :)
Had a wonderful experience at Soceiti Bistro last night! I had tickets to a movie at The Labia and it was the perfect place to catch a meal beforehand. The service was spectacular and the food absolutely delicious... Plus it's all really reasonably priced! Especially the wine! Make sure to order the creme brulee.. It's a winner!
A big wooden door marks the border of the outside and inside part of the restaurant. Inside multiple entrances divide the space into cozy rooms. The management has achieved the most important of all things, faultless customer service. A numerical error on our side resulted in us not booking for three people in a full restaurant. With aplomb a drink was offered while a flurry of activity sorted it out. Not once were we made to feel awkward by our mistake. Huge kudos for that.
The food is in the same league as the service. I had the bone marrow and the snails. Both were good, but the snails were better - the pan bread had the brioche flavor which is difficult to get in a pan bread. Two of the diners had the Spaghetti Carbonara which was simple and sublime. Others opted for the venison and by all accounts a great choice.
Book to ensure a seating, expect good service, delightful food and an interesting wine list
Been to Societi Bistro more than once now for my cheesecake fix - its phenomenal!
This time had lunch with the family and every meal was more epic than the last. Warm fire place, service of a very high standard and food you can taste made with passion. Hundreds.
I haven't been for a little while now, but reports suggest that this is still one of the better spots in town. The food is interesting - simple ingredients cooked well... Staff are very knowledgable, passionate and helpful. Just reminds me I should return soon.
Had such a great experience at Societi - R45 for a pomodoro pasta PLUS a Labia movie ticket! (For those who may not know, this may just be the best deal in Cape Town... On a Monday :)!) The restaurant is great, the food is delicious and on a warm summers night, the outside section must be amazing... What more can you ask for! I will 100% be back... Soon!!!!
I love this place, pure and simple. The new winter menu has just been launched and I might be a little biased but the Bianca Coleman is utterly delicious - succulent fatty ham hock that slides off the bone, served with red cabbage, apple, mash, and gluhwein reduction. You simply must have me for dinner.
This eatery wowed me with the new additions to the menu. The winter menu launching on 1 July is superb. My faves were the mussels, venison, vegan thai curry and the best butternut risotto.

We went here to celebrate an anniversary and we were blown away. Delicious food, excellent service and a great wine selection. It's definitely worth the price, and the food is completely delicious. Definitely go for a risotto if you can resist the specials and make sure you leave space for their creme brûlée. This is one of those places that you'll drive past all the time, and think "oh I really should try that place" - listen to that little voice in your head and make a booking to go - it won't disappoint!
Great find....great atmosphere and really good food. They have a small selection to choose from but they did have a decent wine selection to make up for that. Their mushroom risotto is definitely worth a try.
Lovely Italian restaurant with a good atmosphere. Great menu and food was exquisite. Perfect outside area for summer evenings. I would recommend to couples and groups.
Always the best food at Societi. An ambiance and wine list that no one can compete with. The feeling that you're in Italy or somewhere else in the world. A complete moment of escape for the entire duration of your meal.
However I returned one evening to show a friend who had never been before. The starter portion of pasta had what seemed like, an entire pot of salt thrown into it. And the 300g sirloin with hand cut fries was nothing short of a meal from Spur. The salad meant to accompany it didn't suit it at all.
I was sorely disappointed. Especially because I was trying to offer my friend the best first experience. Likely to say he probably won't return.
Great service and really good atmosphere- was definitely a memorable night - great food and great wine 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾☺️😊- I also loved the dim lights and candle lit tables
Wonderful food. The menu is limited but all of the options are very good.
The setting and decor of the restaurant are warm and inviting and very comfortable.
Our waitress was more arrogant than friendly but very efficient.
I highly recommend Societi! The service is always brilliant which is not normal for such a busy place. We have never been let down by the food - whether you go for proper Italian or even the beef fillet.
One a night in Cape Town where the wind isn’t blowing and the air is warm, nothing beats a night under the stars enjoying the delights of one of the cutest bistro’s on the block.
Societi Bistro, situated at 50 Orange street is a treat for the senses
On the night we dined at Societi Bistro the setting was perfect. Not a breath of wind and a warm summer night was the perfect setting for a little Cape Town indulgence.
The menu although fairly small caters to a variety of tastes, however being with a bunch of carnivores the decision was easy!
Whats interesting to note is that the menu changes with the seasons which allows for the perfect pairing of weather, atmosphere and food.
Dinner for four
To start we paired the watermelon and feta salad with grilled calamari. Quite interesting to note that this combination seems to work incredibly well, even if that was not the intention. The watermelon salad is light and refreshing whilst the calamari was tender and flavorsome.
Mains were a festival of meat – from the fillet bearnaise, to the venison and duck each dish was perfectly prepared and the meat was soft and melt in your mouth delicious.
Finally to round things off the cheesecake and Italian home made gelato where we order of the night. The gelato was as delicious as any Italian mamma could make, but the cheesecake is what made the night! From a family of cheesecake enthusiasts we can credibly say that this is perhaps the best cheesecake in Cape Town – melting on your tongue and bursting with flavor.
Delicious and satisfying
Societi Bistro is a great spot if you’re looking for a casual evening out or a ‘home away from home’ expereince. Not really a fine dining experience, but often one really just wants good old fashioned food that hits the spot! A refreshing menu with a twist on a few of the more traditional dishes gives Societi Bistro and edge and makes it the perfect night out.
Societi Bistro renowned as the neighbourhood “local” this little gem is a sanctuary for Capetonians and visitors looking for a home from home. More than cuisine – its a way of life – taking time to savour a meal and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Lovely bistro in town. We ordered varied mains and good quality on all - Venison, Pork neck, Karoo lamb shank and mushroom risotto. I would rate their mains on that basis. Desserts were as good as any save for the superior baked cheesecake.
We love food that is fresh, we love food that looks good, and we love food that tastes sensational. Waiters are friendly and helpful. Societi Bistro is just one of our favourite restaurants in Cape Town ?
Absolutely stunning restaurant. Everything I expect in a great establishment.
You get what you pay for, & more. This place has such an awesome chilled vibe (yet so professional), great service from lovely, sexy waiters ? & of course delicious food (the Vichyssoise was outstanding, & the Pork-neck was perfectly cooked; tender & full of flavour).
Definitely one of #CapeTown's best ?
Societi Bistro
Great atmosphere near the heart of the city bowl. The food is well priced and the staff is friendly. The signature mushroom risotto is excellent and so were the chefs specials. All round a good choice for a bistro in the city.
Such a treat eating at Societi Bistro. My father, sister and I enjoyed every single dish that was served to us. Our waiter was impeccable! One of the best spots to eat in Cape Town! Thank you xx
Love this fabulous restaurant. All these "its overpriced reviews" - It is not for the person who wants to pay R65.00 for a Primi Piatti sized pasta. You pay for what you get - and its worth it! Very good steaks and fish dishes as well.
I loved it! The staff are wonderfully helpful and attentive and the food was yummy! My girlfriends fillet was delicious and the spinach and hand cut chips that came with it were perfect. I had a spaghetti with egg yolk, chives and truffle oil, which was good. The best part was the generous and freshly grated grana padano. We shared the squid starter which was fresh and moreish... Finished with a wonderfully sharp lemon tart, with a brûlée top and marscapone.
I'm not so hot on their lamb shank (which was upsetting because it's one of my favourite dishes) *laments the closing of George's on 4th, Parkhurst*
But this place hosts such good service and an intimate ambiance
Will definitely be giving their menu a second chance.
If you're about wine & warmth - this is for you.
We attended Societe Bistro for a menu launch, and it is just divine. Quirky, a little dark and mysterious, and very cosy, this launch was all about trying their new items, and it was done incredibly stylishly. Numbered tables led us through the restaurant, taking us from booth to delicious booth, where we tried dishes like mussels, quiche Lorraine, charcuterie, salad niçoise, French onion soup, oysters, and lots and lots of wine (you have to try the Astronaut Chenin Blanc).
Round it all off with a slice of lemon tart, and you have an absolutely winning day out. Societe's food is well thought out, full of flavour and passion, and definitely worth stopping by for!
Went for dinner with three others. Had what may have been the best fillet steak ever. And I've had many very good ones. Cheese cake was exceptional. Seared tuna got thumbs up from others in party. Nice wine list with some very good options and super service.
Always make a point of visiting Societi when in Cape Town, the ever changing menu never disappoints. As usual, the service was excellent, the lamb was sublime. Only disappointment is the lack of beer which they used to stock, but they are a restaurant and not a bar, so forgiven. Will always be back.
Huge fan of Societi (and not only because it is 300m from my apartment so I can roll on home after a delectable dinner).
I love the cozy atmosphere that Societi has, without feeling like you're on top of the people next to you. the restaurant is completely engrossed in candle light which makes it a divine spot for a date! The food is unbelievable and many of the dishes are named after local celebrities and loyal patrons, such as Pnina Fenster (whose vegetarian dish is to do for) and Justine Drake. I would recommend the French Onion Soup and Caesar Salad for starters, the Pnina Fenster for a pasta dish, and the Fillet, Prawns and the Cape Fish for mains. Everything I have eaten at Societi has been outstanding; along with impeccable service and a wine list that is ridiculously affordable (my glass of white cost me a casual 19 bucks). I also love that they have different specials - such as their pasta partnership with the Labia and their 'tours' (last time I was there it was a tour through Italy menu).
This is definitely one of my favourite places in Cape Town.
Great atmosphere! Upmarket! Great food! Great service! Only the best!
Great service and very tasty food! Wine list is good too. One of my favorite places in CT
In the last five years Societi Bistro - on Orange street, Cape Town, has become a sought after "after-work, quick dinner and drink and the snug" spot for locals. The menu lends itself to comfort food with hearty risottos, pastas and stews (the Osso Bucco or Lamb Shank is always a winner). The atmosphere evokes rustic continental Europe and, as it's located in an old Dutch house, it is always warm, inviting, cosy. The menu varies according to the chef's mood - but Societi often delights with themed menus (like the current Tour through Italy, which is just delightful). I highly recommend the Chef's Table which is a table set for between 8 - 12. You are given the opportunity to reserve the table, meet the chef, discuss and plan your own bespoke menu and wine selection. Only the best seasonal ingredients are used - as a guest at one of the chef's tables, I though it was a spectacular success.
Quick tip: Styled with comfy sofas and a roaring fireplace, the snug is the perfect place to meet for a drink and meal on a cold, wet afternoon in Cape Town.
The ambience is warm, the wine selection bountiful and the food is sublime and comforting.
Went there for diner on a cold and wet day. Best idea ever. Very cosy vibes and deco, I enjoyed the fireplace so much. Service was impeccable, waiter took the time to explain very well each plates of the menu of the day. I ended up ordering the salad of the day and the roasted porc belly (which was one of the best I ever tested in Cape Town). Wine menu is a bit small but otherwise I highly recommend this place. I will come back very soon!!

Good food!!
Order from Uber eats and walked to pick it up — wish I would have dined in. Such a cute venue.
Lots of wine! The decor is really lovely and I found myself walking the entire restaurant taking it all in.
Food was good! The mushroom risotto OMG I could eat that every single day. Each spoonful was so delicious.
Caesar salad was spectacular and the veggies were fresh.
The butternut soup was super heavy on the cream. I tried to eat is several times and just couldn’t.
Exquisite! Great value for money. Friend and I came off the mountain after dark and were hungry for a vegan meal. Shared a cauliflower steak and a salad which the chef whipped together as a vegan salad. Both were FANTASTIC! Setting was amazing and after a few poor experiences at other restaurants this was really top drawer. We will be back for sure.
Such a cosy restaurant 😍 Love the fire place and decor.
Excellent service from all staff. Impressed.
Pasta was great but I never had much of an appetite tonight. Perfect for lunch tomorrow.
Will def visit again. Keep up 5he good service Team.

Beautiful calm surroundings in the centre of an area filled with lively eateries. The food was of the standard that I has come to be well-known. It's the kind of place you'll come back to again and again...
Great place. A lovely ambiance with excellent friendly service and staff.
The food was great, and so was the wine (also, good and knowledgeable suggestions from the staff).
Perfect for a nice romantic dinner.
Sat inside on the left as you come in. Fairly quiet even for a full room. Drinks were good. Food was good. Truffle pasta was excellent. Waldorf salad missed the mark. Needed more zing.
Lemon dessert was also excellent.
A gem in Cape town. The menu is small and includes a variety of dishes - from vegetarian to red meat as well as chicken. There are also season-appropriate specials on offer.
I had the butternut soup as a starter and fillet for a main course
Worth adding to your to visit list when you're in the area
What a little gem 💎
Awesome for an intimate date night or even just drinks with friends
Beautiful setting and the view of table mountain in the background... exquisite
Fine dinning experience. The waiters were very helpful in arranging the tables for our large group. Reservations might be necessary for every night. The selection of wines was fair, and the menu had some interesting things, though the specials were definitely the star of the night.
