Review La Tete - Cape Town Central

We visited the restaurant for a Friday night dinner. They have a cool winter special on offer for 3 tapas for R220. I enjoyed the brains on toast and pigs head. Unique and tasty. The service was good and the ambience was lovely. It's a good place to visit if you are looking for a different tasting experience. The only thing that put me off was their wine prices I paid R230 for two glasses of chardonnay called the Chablis from France apparently. This is rediculous. The waiter should have explained where the wine was from. In Cape Town we have more superior wines that taste way better than the overpriced chardonnay I had which was nothing spectacular. This was disappointing. Nevertheless, it was a cool experience, best tried once.

The food and service are both fantastic. The restaurant has a clean, no-frills and somewhat austere white wall vibe with quirky peg boards. You will mainly find tables of two to four people enjoying the evening here starting at 6p each night.

Intimate dining with an interesting menu and a good wine list. I've been here twice and tried new things, on both occasions. First time I tried quail and pig tails, ever...I enjoyed at least one of them! Interesting experience. Friendly staff. I will definitely return when I'm feeling adventurous again

Definitely Different A small restaurant with a minimalist setting and open kitchen. Rated as one of the top restaurants in Cape Town. They change their menu daily using only local ingredients. They have a lot of offal offering ie: ox heart, lamb liver, pig's ear and pig's trotters. Started with a very nice green salad with shaved parmesan cheese on top. For mains, my wife ordered the Hake , fish with chard and lemon, nice. I had the roast quail with chips and aioli, very good. For dessert, we have the floating island madeleines, both excellent. Small but nice wine list.

Cozy French restaurant in Cape Town with great service and delicious food. The eggplant and fish soup were great starters to share and the oxtail dish was phenomenal. Highly recommend!

Very enjoyable meal, had a selection of smaller dishes to share including the salted hake and deboned quail. Mussels and chorizo so good we had it twice.

The food is still very good. But the menu orientation has changed a lot. They started with a very organ meat orientation cooked in a traditional french way, but now it is more like a normal cape townian restaurant with only 2 menu items that are organs. But I understand that for Cape Town that was perhaps a little bit too exotic. Anyway, very good food experience. Just dont like the cold deco and the chairs 😅 will come back.

Local with a French touch. Favourite: Brains on toast. Nice wines. Casual, great service. Take some Madelaines home!

Hands down, the best restaurant in Cape Town at the moment. There is nothing about this place that is less than mind-blowing: the welcome, wine list and of course- menu. If you’ve been to the London institution St. John, you NEED TO visit La Tete! PS: if the deviled chicken hearts and potato is on the menu- order it! Ox heart too... actually, everything! 🤤
