Review Giulio’s - Cape Town Central

Dewald Buys
Lily and Kim are the best when it comes to hair. Lily is the blond dye Queen and can save you from any previous hair disaster, and Kim is a hell of an amazing stylist. Been going there for 8 years. Can recommend them them over and over!

This is the best salon I've ever been to. I just moved from NYC and was nervous about finding someone who would be able to get the sun-kissed look I was hoping to achieve on dark hair. Lily knew what I wanted right away, and did it without damaging my hair in the slightest (it feels healthier than it ever has). Lily and her staff were SO generous with their time and effort and I really had the best possible experience. Thank you Lily!!

Like any other lady I am quite fussy of who and how my hair should be done. After all its the crown we never take off! To find that stylist can be an expensive outing. Not only financially but even more so if your hair is not the way you want it. I took a chance with Kim at Lila Vie Hair salon. I showed her a couple of pictures of what I had in mind and walked out of that salon a new person. Never have people stopped me asking me where I had my hair done. Lilian, the owner of the salon, is also exceptional. Have a look on Instagram of all the beautiful and happy customers. The salon is small and cozy and they make every client feel important. There is a very nice restaurant in the same building so you can order whatever you like from the restaurant to enjoy in the salon. I am so happy with Kim and Lila Vie and visiting them is always a treat!

BEST! Lilly is absolutely PHENOMENAL!! Never in my life received so many compliments since they've been doing my hair - the coloring and techniques are absolutely world class. The vibe is amazing, her team is so caring - and just lots of love all around - HIGHLY recommend booking here. You are in THE BEST HANDS!

Oh wow, walked by this place randomly, and while they usually require appointments, Kim was available, and she just totally took care of me! Been living in Uganda for the last year, and hadn’t really had a haircut in over a year, and literally almost cried as she washed my hair, so gentle, and sooo soothing, it was like an amazing, relaxing, surprise massage! (I splurged for the deep moisturizing treatment, would highly recommend if your hair needs some love). As far as the cut, she was really careful to make sure I wanted to chop off as much as I did, and she was super careful (given that I have such wavy hair) to help me figure out what length (when wet) would achieve the look I wanted (when dry). I could go on and on, but basically, this place is great, an absolute hidden gem, period. They do quite a lot with such a small space, and so while I’m not sure about services beyond hair, they are absolutely crushing it, very attentive, warm, and professional, and... it’s also unisex!!!!!!!

After traveling for 4 months through Africa I was desperate to find a good salon to fix my colour. Through a Dutch website I found Lila Vie. From the moment I stepped in they did everything to make sure I was happy. Lileen really listened to my whishes. She did such a good job. I’m really happy, my hair looks amazing!! Besides that the service was really good and I felt so welcome. I could really tell Lileen is a professional, after dying my hair she used a toner which made it even look better. Thank you so much! I definitely come back when I’m in Cape Town again

I feel at home whenever I go top Lila Vie. The staff is warm and caring. My colour and cut is always amazing. Lileen is without a doubt one of the best stylists I have ever gone to.
heidi eshmade
This is by far the best hair salon in Cape Town! Professional, well trained, warm harted staff. Its a 300km drive for me to get my hair done every 6 weeks at Lila Vie but its worth every km!
Verena Stefanie Papsch
I have been going to Lileen since she was a hairdressing student around 15 years ago. Lileen gets my colour and cut right every time and I won't ever go anywhere else. All the staff at Lila Vie are friendly and attentive and I highly recommend this salon.
Suzanne Reeve
Amazing! I always feel like a million dollars when I walk out of there. No one can do blonde like Lileen - the Blonde expert!!! I plan my Cape Town trips around the roots of my hair lol! Plus, it feels like you are paying a visit to your best friend, loads of girl talk while being spoiled with coffee, wine, cupcakes and the best head massage you can imagine. Shhhh don't tell anyone!

Had a very good time at this cute spot. It has an awesome Italian vibe with great pizza. Had the bacon, feta and feta which was very nice. The also serve great coffee !
Sam
We visited Giulio’s for lunch. I had seen pictures of the pizza which I thought looked great and the reviews were really good with a high rating. The experience we had was far from it and the worst we experienced on this trip to Cape Town.

The restaurant while pretty is cramped and the small tables and chairs are uncomfortable.

I ordered the margherita pizza which when it arrived had already been sitting on the warmer for ten minutes and the cheese had gone cold. The pizza was very average, the tomato base tasted straight out of a can.

We also order the chicken pesto pasta which came with Parmesan. A very bland tasting dish that barely tasted of pesto with pieces of chicken that wasn’t even seared or seasoned. The portion sizes are also quite small.

We requested chilli because we had seen it on pictures as well as it being an extra charge if you ordered takeaway. This request was met with serious annoyance. It took twenty minutes for someone to cut a chilli in a few pieces and for the owner to come and literally throw it on our table.

Service here was dismal. We were left thirsty as our table was ignored and it took a long time to get the waiters attention to refill drinks. This despite the fact that they force you to order two mimosas so they should already know what the next drink is. We asked for the bill and we were ignored and had to ask for it again.

This is a place to visit if you are friends with the owner because then you will get exceptionally great service and attention. Otherwise be prepared to be ignored.

The shockingly rude service, even for Cape Town and the bland food make it a restaurant I would not recommend or return to. Overall the food was a 2.5/5 and the service was a 0/5.
Caryn Rajh
Wowzers! I am so happy that this spot is in Cape Town!

Had one of the best culinary experiences yet, my only negative is that the place is a bit tiny for my liking. It feels as if the people next to you can hear every bit of the conversation you're having.

The service was great, everyone paid attention to the details -it was refreshing!

I recommend the aranchini and the tiramisu 😍😍
I am certain all of their mains can hold their own but for starters and dessert, Id go for the previously mentioned.
Heather Bullock
Had breakfast there for a friend's birthday and tge food was phenomenal. The service was a little bit slow, but in all fairness we were a large group. The restaurant is beautiful, full of bright natural light and greenery. Couldn't reconmend this place more highly.
Eleanora Bresler
A modern bustling small restaurant in the CBD. It was extremely noisy upon entering as it was full. The food was good. And coffee delicious! Definitely not for a relaxing morning but a great stop for eat and go. Staff and owner were very attentive.

This place is really cute looking. It's small and creates a cozy environment. The vegetarian pasta is quite good too. I'd recommend coming here for a quick lunch break during work hours.
Lisa Nyoka
What I loved about this spot is that they have mimosas as part of their breakfast menu which I found really cool.
Giulio's is a beautiful little spot in town, which was recommended by a friend. Everyone around the table enjoyed their food, so I'd be keen to try their lunch menu.
The service was a little slower than I would have expected, but other than that it's a nice place to have a (boozy) brunch !
Lungi
I really enjoyed this breakfast. It was amazing with a mimosa. I love the atmosphere and the restaurant setting. Great place for brunch and catching up
Ambreen
The most amazing food and excellent service with a personal touch from Giulio himself.
Definitely one of my favourite spots in Cape Town for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

After just one visit, this is already on my list of go-to breakfast spots. I love that it’s small and intimate. The menu is great, with a good selection of traditional and continental options.

When I visited, it seems like we arrived at just the perfect time and were seated immediately with free reign to choose where. A minute later there was a queue at the door!

To satisfy my sweet tooth I had to have the pain au chocolate and to fill my tummy I opted for the Shakshuka (with extra chili). Both were yummy and filling.

Apart from the good food and gorgeous interior, the impeccable service stood out for me. The waiters were super attentive and efficient.
Faabdulla0
Horrible service! very rude. Would never come again, it’s my first and last time. We’ve been waiting almost 50 mins to get our breakfast & we haven’t got anythings yet. Everyone around us go their food expect us. Manager was very rude towards us.. very disappointed

I’ve been wanting to try Giulio’s for a few months and I can now say, the anticipation was worth it.

Upon entering, I was taken in by the gold and white decor and the warm welcome on a rainy Cape Town morning. As a homebody, one expects the chances of a dull eating out experience on a gloomy day to be quite high but Giulios turned out to be the perfect place to go to for a warm breakfast and tuck into their flavorful pancakes and generous omelette portions in a cosy and inviting setting.
I had some pancakes (below) which were delightful, just enough butter and perfectly fluffy. My non-existent sweet tooth opted for the ordinary maple syrup over the toffee sauce the dish normally comes with, giving the chicken waffles fan that I am, I topped it with some crispy bacon . JOY on a plate.
It would have been great to complete the experience with some hot chocolate but we couldn’t resist the ‘4 mimosas for R200’ deal so we went for that instead which was absolutely delightful (they use krone mcc for their mimosa)

The menu options really do accommodate vegans and vegetarians, they also have a daily harvest table where you can pretend you’re at a buffet and overindulge in greens😬 yum!

Location :👌🏾
Service: 👌🏾
Food : 👌🏾
Price : fair.

Amazing service, food and atmosphere! Had an incredible breakfast and the owner is wonderful. It was crazy busy by 9am so would definitely recommend getting here early but even with the bustle the service was on point.
Claire
LOVE this spot! Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this restaurant is always a winner. Best Eggs Benedict in Cape Town and there’s nothing like live music to take your Italian dinner to the next level. A must visit.
Miguel Dos Santos
A really trendy restaurant with a nice vibe. Food is really fresh and tasty and portion sizes are great. Had a wonderful breakfast here and would definitely come back
Theloveofgoodfood
Giulio’s has been on my list since the beginning of the year and I would encourage everyone to move it to the TOP of their’s asap!

Gorgeous decor with superb attention to detail and love the light streaming in.

Large variety of breakfasts (and lunches) with delicious cuppa’s. Eggs Shakshuka is a killer if you love spicy tomato-based sauces and the omelette is also amazing.

Hands-on owner who’s also not afraid to get his hands dirty while building a chat or two.

Will definitely return, especially for the American pancakes.
Raeesah Ebrahim
Guilos makes a killer breakfast if you happen to be like me then you’ll love and appreciate their flapjacks, in all honesty they’re to die for it’s slathered in Nutella it’s every girls dream
Gabriella
Love this beautiful little gem in town. So happy that they are now open on Thursday & Friday evenings & what a touch having live music! The menu never disappoints & with the new addition of a pizza oven just being the cherry on top! This space is not only aesthetically pleasing but the staff & owner are one of the friendliest I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant! Will definitley be a regular & recommend to all!

I finally popped in at Giulio’s to have a very quick breakfast while I was in the area, after wanting to visit for ages! The decor is amazing - only the best finishes everywhere you look. Really beautifully done. I only had poached eggs on ciabatta with oven roasted tomatoes; very simple but all very delicious - nothing I can fault. The tomatoes were especially tasty! I had a quick chat to Giulio and he was very friendly. All in all a lovely experience and I can’t wait to go back with some friends for a more lengthy breakfast or lunch to sample more of the menu.

If you looking for a nice place to have breakfast / lunch this place is a definite must especially there Truffle Fries 💃💃💃 & Pizza . Service is quick.

Decided to go for breakfast at Giulio's. I called to make a reservation to which they said they only reserve seats for large groups(10+ if i remember correctly) and they have a wait time of around 15 minutes if it is full.
The food was great and prepared to perfection. Ther's lovely natural light that enters the restaurant which gives it a nice and lively feel which I absolutely loved. There was a birthday across from my table and judging from this, I'm sure they're able to accomodate and cater for a large group.

I was looking for a new breakfast spot to try out. It hit me that I hadn’t actually tried Giulio’s Cafe.

I was very excited to be there. The restaurant was fairly empty upon our arrival as it was a week day but filled up as time went by. The food was exceptional, very fresh, delicious and filling. My boyfriend struggled to finish his pancakes because the serving was a bit much for one person, so maybe I would recommend ordering that to share. My poached eggs were delicious.

The restaurant is beautiful and well lit and the staff friendly and efficient!

We keep going back because the food is sooooo gooood. The owner, whose name is the same as the Restaurant is meticulous and pays attention to detail and customers with ease 😌 you'd be fooled into not knowing he's the owner

Big menu which caters for gluten free and Banting diets is great, their breakfasts are incredible🥐🍯🥑🍳🥓🥞 , their lattes warm and delicious ☕️Great staff, the owner is always greets his guests and makes sure they’re happy .

It always has an amazing vibe... their interiors are thrilling, from white walls with baroque inspired mounding to chandeliers made from pasta, marbled counter top tables and iron-wrought chairs... it's quirky with class.

Highly recommended, especially for a delicious breakfast or late brunch with loved ones😊💛

AMAZING! I left here so happy and ready to come back. Can't remember when last I had a complete quality experience from start to finish, food and service! We came for breakfast and walked in right at the peak of service but luckily a table became available. As we sat we were warmly welcomed and politely told that they are really busy and the kitchen is backed up as everything is prepared fresh and they are very full so there will be some waiting time, they also advised that there is currently no avo. I commend them for giving forth all this info right from the start as it made us aware of what to expect. Well the wait was worth it and we hardly felt it as our delicious coffees came out quickly and the vibe was great. The food was amazing and you could taste the care and attention that went into it. Our waiter, so lovely and friendly was attentive but never annoying and at the end of our breakfast thanked us for being so patient. Well done Giulio's, you are a new favourite!!!

A really interesting or strange purple veggie burger, with a sponge like texture, felt like I was eating cake! Truffle fries were nice though.

So dope! Giulio's is such a great location for breakfast. I had nutella pancakes, portion was huge and they were great.

Definitely something special!

This quintessential Italian cafe is the long held dream realized by Chef & owner Giulio Lorreggian, formerly employed by Jamie Oliver. His passion for food and family is clearly evident through his dishes, one can almost taste the love with each bite!. An authentic Italian restaurant where the flavour of love just oozes through the food!
Burger King
The staff was very friendly and offered great suggestions. We had breakfast there several times, never disappointed, truly good eats. Great lunch offer too.
Pen Trevena
Stunning stunning restaurant. The decor was gorgeous, the staff were extremely attentive and the food was absolutely divine! Can highly recommend the open chicken wrap. Will definitely be back soon.

Small, aesthetically pleasing cafe in the bustling city.

Had a quick breakfast at the window seat, overlooking the busy corner and the temperamental Cape Town weather.

Nice inner city cafe.
Sinako Cetyiwe
Great little Cafe with fresh food and excellent service. I usually come here for coffee and a small bite. The breakfast is good too. Try the Egg Benedict with Parma. Ham. Although small, the space is light and airy. The decor is beautiful with an Italian feel to it. The space is also great to read or get some work done.
Aletha Jeftha
I love this little Italian cafe! The decor is so cute with all the gold trimmings. And now they have a pizza oven!!!! Yes please!!

So this is a regular lunch spot, but I have my favourites. The pasta is really good - the puttanesca sauce is onpar with what you'd find in Italia. The pizzas are another sure winner. The beet quinoa veggie burger is also good, but not my fave. The readymade sandwiches with the mozzarella and grilled veggies is so delish (really good bread and neatly tied up with brown string!). The breakfasts are yummy (my favourite is the croissant with Nonna's creamy eggs). But I am not a fan of the prepared salads (that also may be because I have a favourite salad bar right around the corner from here i.e. the general store).
Kezia Swanepoel
I have always enjoyed Giulio's - delicious coffee, great setting and perfect service.

Their Instagram account definitely helps! The photos are just too drool-worthy. Luckily everything is just as good IRL.
The harvest table is always a winner during a busy weekday lunch and I used to LOVE their meat pastas before I turned veg. Don't even talk to me about how great the breakfasts are...

My new favourite has to be their veg burger and truffle fries, ordered from OrderIn the other day. WOW.
A veggie burger that had proper effort put into it and the truffle fries were so addictive. My partner had the beef burger which looked and smelled just as delicious.

It was gourmet perfection, full of flavour and made with care and fresh ingredients, so thanks!
Reshmi Muringathuparambil
Giulio's is wonderful. The space is beautiful, warm and elegant. The food is delicate and casual all at the same time - with generous portion sizes. Everyone I have had the pleasure of enjoying a meal with here has been impressed.

Then open lamb wrap is especially good!
Nabeelah Shaboodien
I went to Giulio's Café for a friend's birthday a few days ago and I'm so glad I discovered this little gem on Loop street!

Although it was the middle of the week and quite early in the day (around noon), the café was really busy - clearly very popular.

We had quite a few people at our table so needless to say the service was a little slow, however the wait became completely irrelevant when we got our tasty, beautifully presented, fresh brunch.

I ordered the crunchy brioche French toast with maple syrup and mixed berry cream cheese compote with a side of Nutella chocolate spread. Although the French toast itself was heavenly, I think the portion of the cream cheese compote could be increased to balance out the sweetness of the maple syrup a little better.

My friends also ordered the:
Colazione vegetale
La Bianca
Gemelli twins
La Nicoletta
Panino di Carne
Open lamb wrap
Open chicken wrap

They all said their meals were exceptionally delicious, tastefully presented and worth the price.

The only problem I had was trying to find parking in the street despite it being a weekday. However, I'm really keen to go back and try out some of the other items on their menu!
Simone Izzard
Nice place for a quick work lunch. Interior is clean and fresh although I found the chairs really uncomfortable so wouldn't necessarily come here for a long, leisurely lunch. See they have a nice-looking harvest table, but went for a veg sandwich instead. Nice, but didn't find it anything to write home about and it was slightly soggy. Will try something else next time.
Jess Reynolds
Absolutely brilliant! The food tastes amazing and the portions are generous! Gorgeous vibey setting. Owner is on the ball, runs it well abd all round spectacular meal! Try the frittata and the shakshuka.
Louise Loula Malan
We went here for the R50 breakfast special and it was delicious. Rye/sourdough bread, two poached eggs, plenty mushrooms/bacon, roasted cherry tomatoes, rocket, AND coffee. This is one of the best value for money breakfasts I've had, and will definitely go back. Service a bit delayed- food took its time and so did the waiter, but other than that, good food and beautiful interior. The lunch buffet style setup also looks amazing and can't wait to try it out!
Emma Haines
Giulio's is the perfect little corner cafe in the city! Perfect for a light breakfast and extremely tasty food. The atmosphere is very relaxed but beautiful and is a special place to visit. Giulio's has been on my bucket list for a while and has exceeded my expectations! I will definitely be back 💫
Giulia M. Di Marino
Lovely little place. It was my first time here and I will definitely come back also because I would like to taste the lunch menu and pizzas. It's was very busy this morning but luckily we got a table. I would recommend to book in advance especially on a Saturday morning. Because it was so busy it was quite noisy but anyways. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I had the pancakes with Nutella, banana and strawberries. It's a big portion and my boyfriend had La Colazione, which is similar to an English breakfast. The food was really good. My hot chocolate was also nice and sweet. Mille grazie.
Azure Canister
Is close to my office and I eat here quite often. The food is amazing and he staff really friendly.
I really recommend this place. Coffe not bad at all ;)
Lindsey Napoleon
I had a lovely gnocchi pasta here. It wasn't the best gnocchi I've ever had but it was right up there! It was filling and tasty and I enjoyed it. It was a good portion too. The restaurant was cute and bright even though the day outside was cloudy and overcast. I also had the red juice which had carrot and beetroot in it I think. I love raw juices and this one was good. I would love to go back again some time.
Gabriel Stein
IT IS WORTH COMING HERE, IM JUST GOING TO RANT A BIT.

Okay so obviously the food was AMAZING but coming to a restaurant is not only about the food, its about the experience.

Not only did the food take long, but every request we made was ignored. I told the waitress we're getting the flapjacks but please only put the order though after we eat the eggs, alas they came at the same time. I dont care how ridiculous I sound 😂😂 also its R18 for extra mushrooms!!! Wth!! Thats just cheeky, and after me telling my waitress i dont want mushroom because I dont want to pay that, she not only gives me mushroom, but my friend as well. Who didnt even ask!!

After telling her again that we didnt order, they took the plates back and im guessing scraped them into the bin.

The manager was a super nice guy however and I feel like we just had a bad waitress, Its definitely worth coming here!!!
Sarah Mcghie
Amazing! Just perfect! This place has been on my bookmarks for about 4 months and I finally went! The decor is to die for! Really love the light and modern look! I had a peanut butter and banana smoothie, which was so fulling and delicious. I also had a gluten free florentine! Wow it was tasty, it was dark chocolate and orange flavor and had glitter in the chocolate which was a cute touch!
It was nice and quiet, and the service was good. Can't wait to go back for breakfast next time!!
Nicol Miller
After a couple of attempts in trying to get a spot here on a Saturday morning, I EVENTUALLY managed to grab breakfast a few days ago. The interior is quaint and pretty, with its subtle gold touches and beautiful chandeliers. Fresh baked goods stare you in the face as you find a table. I opted for the Bacon Butty, two poached eggs, crispy bacon, on a toasted Brioche bun, with a flat white. Both arrived promptly and were absolutely delicious. The service, food and decor on on par with some of the bests I've had. No complaints here
Samantha
This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food is generous and hearty and the coffee is pretty good too.

I love the decor, it's simplistic but very classy.

The staff's also quite friendly and attentive.
Pusm
This little cafe is cute and relaxing. Nice decor, all in the beige and white tones. The food is good, not memorable, but it doesn't matter when you need a place close to work. It's not a culinary experience but a good option for business lunches.
Linda
I fell in love with this beautiful corner Café. A modern and 'green' decor on the inside, a fool proof menu and great service. Nothing quite like a bustling Café in city centre Cape Town. Delicious food and even better coffee. Well done to the owner! Would highly recommend...
Santham Naicker
Fresh, simple and elegant is what I would describe both food and restaurant!!! The chocolate croissant is honestly the best I have ever had! Flaky and hot the was pastry should be! I recommend a detour to this corner cafe:)
Claire Atkinson
Came here with a friend to use the wifi to get some work done. Stayed for the great coffee, delicious food and relaxed environment. The waiters are very friendly but not overbearing which is just perfect. Spent about 3 and a half hours here, and will definitely be coming back here again.
Steven Edwards
Giulio's serves amazing breakfasts!
It was buzzing and busy on a Saturday morning but the staff knew what was needed and kept everyone happy.
We'll be back for sure!
Gaby Katz Sutton
A gem! Beyond delicious food and really great vibe. We went at Friday lunchtime and it was very busy and a bit cramped but the atmosphere is great and you can tell immediately why people are packing in this place! The food is fresh and really tasty!

We are gluten free and there were lots of options. My husband had the chicken wrap (with GF base) and I had a GF pasta with garlic, chili, olive oil and fresh rosa tomatoes. We also shared a caprese salad. Our only complaint was that the food ended.

Wish we could go back tomorrow, but it's closed on Saturdays.

5 star!!!
Talya Michaels
So glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem! A great menu with lots of variety. I chose the avo on toast- a classic done deliciously!

Look forward to trying out the lunch menu!
Jade
Such a beautiful space in which to enjoy delicious food. The windows let in lovely natural light and the decor is considered but not over bearing. They serve their breakfasts all day (win) and the shakshuka I had was well-presented, tasty and a healthy portion. My companions has the pollo pasta and the spicy chicken livers and both agreed that their dishes were delicious. The service is warm, friendly and lovely. There are so many tasty-sounding things on the menu that it almost ensure a return visit. Will definitely be back to test the rest !
Greg Christy
Fresh clean neat and vibey
Been for breakfast and lunch .
Oats were awesome . My family had a scrambled egg , crispy bacon and croissant breakfast which staff tailor made for her . Coffee really good.
Lunch I had the chicken livers and wife had veggie burger , both amazing.
Service was really efficient and friendly .
Would I be back ? Absolutely !!!
Nic Hern
Awesome little breakfast spot! Parking was a little bit of a mission but it always is when you are dinning in the CBD! The service was fantastic, the food was awesome and they make an amazing cup of coffee☕️ I can highly recommend the La Nicolette but with mushrooms instead of a croissant!
Kerissa Naidoo
Firstly 5/5 for the service from the moment we walked in. They have a great breakfast menu and the portions are big,I couldn't finish my meal. The cafe is just as beautiful as the pictures.I'll definitely be back soon.
JotterJo
Giulios is the third restaurant to occupy this corner (Loop & Riebeek) in the last 3 years. Third time lucky! They are fast growing a strong following and their proximity to the Velvet cupcake co is a benefit to both.
Being old friends of a colleague; we support the restaurant as often as possible.
Lovely chique decor; clean, fresh, quality meals.
My favourites are either the 3 or 5 salad buffet or Giulio's succulent crumbed chicken burger with all the trimmings.
Ulisha Moodley
Giulio's is beautiful. You could just sit and stare away at their lovely interior. We had a lovely brunch today. I had a matcha latte and the gemilli twins and Sashen had the La blanca. We both loved our meals, it's the best eggs I've eaten. Service was fantastic. Will definitely be back!
Tiyaarah Cloete
In love with this place. It's really beautiful, the coffees are so well priced. Their cake is divine and their pastas and open wraps are amazing. The only fault is that they close so early and apparently they aren't open on weekends! Bummer.
Phillip Black
Really enjoyed the lunch I had here. I will be back for breakfast soon. My brother recommend it as he lives down the road. So, what did I have? I had a delicious open lamb wrap packed with flavour. Super filling, I would highly recommend. Coffee was good, biscotti was rock hard but I guess that is the nature of it. It comes free with coffee so you can't really complain. Breakfast options look great and that day they had plenty of fresh salads on display with homemade meatballs. Looked yum. My mom had that cheese breakfast thingy...Croque Madame. It's cheese and eggs and ham in a sandwich, traditionally baked or fried boiled. Got that from Wikipedia, you're welcome! This one had min cheese but they were happy to bring more out. Enjoyable service and clean modern decor. Will be there for breakfast ASAP. Care to join?
The Authentic Girl
Oh man, I love Giulios Cafe. The ambiance is great, I love the clean and modern design of the cafe.

If you looking for great spot for breakfast/lunch, juice, coffee in the CBD, this is the place for you.

Mama Mia!!! The food is delicious, the service is great and they accommodate whatever you want. Very humble family run place. I have my lunch there, take my business clients and family to enjoy the meals. There is a buzz around lunch time and the vibe is great. Try brekkies on a Sat .....get there early 😊
Janice Scheckter
Although the service was a little shaky, the breakfast was generous and delicious. Setting also really tasteful and wifi good. My business partner uses it for meetings regularly and I understand why.

Love this modern day Victorian style café on the corner of loop with it's quaint camel stools and white marble finishings.

The manager was super friendly and continuously walked around the restaurant ensuring the satisfaction of the diners.

The omelette was hearty and delicious and the staff were open to additions to the dish. The eggs were poached well, the potatoes were crispy and the accompanying sauces added another flavor dimension to the dishes.
The fresh orange juice was refreshing and well presented in a miniature decanter.

I am looking forward to trying out their lunch menu in the near future.
Allan Moita
Parking is the only down side to this little gem.
It's beautiful inside and out with a warm atmosphere and comfortable layout.

The menu will cater to most tastes and a buffet style lunch table will appeal to those who prefer to see, before ordering.

I tried the bake of the day, together with one of the three salads on offer and could not fault the quality.
I would have just preferred a better quality olive oil with my salad.
Jayshall Vassen
Absolutely love Giulio's! The interior is stunning and decorated beautifully and the food matches.

I went for breakfast and decided to try out the Nutella pancakes. They were heavenly and the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. A friend had the pancakes with maple syrup and loved it too.

The other items on their menu looked amazing and as we were leaving they were setting up the harvest table for lunch and it looked incredible.

Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
The only small problem was that service was a bit slow and not too attentive but other than that the experience was thoroughly enjoyable!

Headed there for breakfast today and it was great! The hospitality was tangible and service efficient. I had the shakshuka with crispy bacon and a green juice which were both delicious. Would definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch!

What a fantastic find in the middle of the CBD! A classy little place with big windows and bright atmosphere. Delicious Italian choices will destroy your Banting diet. Had a great breakfast cooked by son, served by mama. Well worth a visit.

Found ourselves a little town gem! Such a lovely lunch experience at Giulio's! Perched on the corner of Loop and Strand, this quaint little cafe boasts a trendy and sophisticatedly decorated interior through its high rise window walls. The chairs look like they were made for Snow White's dwarves but were surprisingly comfortable! Good thing they were, because we had to wait a little while for our drinks and food orders! Despite the slightly slow service which seems to be a general Cape Town thing, I was highly impressed with our lunch! I ordered the Chakshuka from the breakfast menu (which is offered all day long) and was not expecting the awesomely presented meal that I got! Instead of a plate, I was served my very own ceramic pan filled with a thick tomato, marinated pepper and cumin spiced sauce; all topped with two perfectly poached eggs and some rye toast on the side (to soak up the delicious sauce of course). If I had been warned of the size of the pan, I would have shared it, but my parents definitely enjoyed helping me finish the yummy sauce! I enjoyed every bite! Think of your favourite classic tomato based pasta sauce with two perfect poached eggs... It doesn't get much better than that!! Breakfast and dinner mixed up and eaten for lunch!

My dad enjoyed his chicken sandwich and my mum loved her avo, roasted tomato and poached egg on sourdough! Good food does not have to be complicated or fancy and I think Giulio's are getting this right! Definitely coming back to try the Magia harvest table which showed off some yummy looking fruit & veggie salads! Thank you for the memorable experience Giulio's!!

can't believe I hadn't been here before, what a gem!!! had the most gorgeous lunch today from the Mangia Table - great value for money at R50 for a huge plate of goodness, and only an extra R15 for a side of protein. It's the perfect spot to catch up with a friend or spend the afternoon drinking coffee and working. Highly recommend!

UPDATE: Came for breakfast with a friend one Saturday morning - so divine! Had the orange juice again, super fresh, and had the croissant with scrambled eggs and roasted tomatoes. My friend had the omelette which was huge, but fluffy and filled generously. We both left feeling super happy. Amazing friendly service again too. Can't get enough of this place! :)

Situated at the beginning of Loop street, Giulio's café satisfies your craving for authentic Italian home cooking in Cape Town. Offering pastas, panini, a salad bar and an Italian bake of the day, you will leave there with a happy, full tummy. I tucked into the the bake of the day, which was a hearty spinach and ricotta (vegetarian) lasagna. It was hot, cheesy and gave a true sense of a home cooked meal, which is what Italian food should be. My mum had a panino with Parma ham, basil pesto, mozzarella, rocket and something else, which I cannot remember, but it was yum. We also each had a red cappuccino, which was good. Apart from the food, the café itself is beautifully decorated with attention to detail. It gives the home cooked meals a touch of class. I love the Giulio's logo and how it is printed on the napkins and 'sandwich papers'. The service is what brought my rating down - our waitron was a bit slow and needs to learn the correct pronunciation and vocabulary of Italian words on the menu (being an Italian myself, this must be said). I also need to go back to try more of their food to give this a greater rating but until then, thank you Giulio for restoring my faith in the Italian food served in yet another, but not just any, Italian restaurant in Cape Town. I hope to be back soon!

Went here for brekkie. The decor is so sweet and simple. The food- next level and at affordable prices! There was live music which created the best start to a Sunday ☀️

Yum! Beautifully prepared dishes, the beans served with my eggs are worth a mention! The decor is as astounding as the Greek Goddesses. The owner, Guilio, is always chatting warmly with his guests when he is in 😊

Huge compliments for the iced coffee! 😍 his salads are refreshing and succulent! The lamb wrap is also rightly light but a comforting delight!

Amazing food and service in a beautiful, light setting. I had the Nonna's eggs which was delicious with a fresh croissant and balsamic cherry tomatoes. I will definitely be brunching here again💕

Really great first impression here at Giulio's! The staff and manager are friendly and welcoming from the moment you step through the door! Their prices are to die for too! My boyfriend had Nonna's eggs which was enough to feed a whole family for only R45! Like seriously I've never seen such a stuffed and overflowing croissant of a variety of flavours! I had the Le Nocce which was creamy oats with nuts and bananas! (Best part is NO raisins!) I've also never been asked if I had an allergies before... So that was a nice change to see waiters taking the initiative to ask. Will definitely be coming back! They aren't open on the weekends (except for the last Saturday of the month) but will be opening every Saturday by April! Excited!!!

Lovely little Cafe. Staying near the ICC and took a walk up the street in search of an inspired breakfast cafe. And what a find this was. Lovely deco and interesting menu.
We ordered avo on toast which was more than we expected. Very well seasoned, delicious and totally filling. The only complaint- the sourdough toast was quite tough. Otherwise a 4/5 cafe!

My friend and I had the loveliest time here today!

The coffee is fantastic (and super cheap!) and the food is even better (hello, croissant with tomatoes, bacon and cheesy eggs!). Not to mention the space, which is beautifully designed. The café is incredibly clean and light and warm - and the presence of both Giulio himself and super friendly/helpful staff just make it even more so!

Great experience 🙌🏼☀️

Great iced coffee with ice cream (I think they have a non ice cream version too, if that's not your bag). The nonna's eggs are magnificent. Lovely warm service. Wish they did takeaway sarmies for lunch!

Stunning decor and a refined atmosphere, with proper Italian cuisine and a hands-on host. This family run business is sure to become a new favourite - it already is one of mine! I tried the three salads from the harvest table with an addition of slow-cooked lamb. YUM. Everything was fresh, tasty and I felt super relaxed eating here during my lunch break. Their sandwiches to go also looked incredible - that's what I'll be trying next.

What a beautiful breath of fresh air in the bustling city! Perched on a corner in Loop Street, Giulio's (pronounce Joo-lee-ohs) Cafe combines a simplistic, chic space with delicious food and fantastic coffee. I've only been once, but I'm dying to head back.

From the second I stepped inside, I absolutely adored the decor. Brown leather chairs, touches of gold and splashes of lush plants, it may just be inspiration for my home (when I eventually own one).

We popped by for lunch and were immediately eyeing the goodies on their mangia table, but not neglecting the tasty options on the menu. We decided to get 3 salads from the table and the Panino Verdure. There was a bit of confusion considering we were newbies - we mistook the bake of the day on the mangia as falling under the salads so we ended up ordering that too. The salads were delicious - fresh ingredients and lovely flavours. The panini was also divine with some of the creamiest mozzarella everrr! The bake, which was a tomatoey aubergine bake was delicious buuut a tad overpriced in my opinion for the amount you get.

The staff were friendly and relatively attentive. Considering they're new, there were a couple of hiccups that got sorted out quick sticks. Because of us thinking the bake was a salad (oops!), the owner was sweet enough to give us a bit of a discount which was unnecessary but totally appreciated.

Definitely a spot worth trying and I'm holding thumbs that they eventually open up on Saturdays!

Wow this place is so beautiful and chic. Fell in love with the interior and the food is equally as great. Coffee is by Deluxe which made me super happy and the food was so divine. We shared a sandwich and the plate of 3 salads and the Italian bake of the day- aubergine bake. So delicious and fresh. It's still new so I can understand a few hesitancies and slowness by the staff but they were all super friendly and I'm sure this will improve with time.
Thanks for the great hospitality, will be back.
