Cape Malay meets fine dining in this restaurant for a great evening experience that was full of flavor. Staff was very nice and helpful and if I had to suggest something that’d be to improve the extraction system so you could enjoy the scents from the food clearer. A great experience for a relatively good price (specially good if you come from Europe!)

We had a fantastic dining experience at Upper Bloem. The Cape inspired dishes were delicious and works great as plates to share. There is also an exceptional collection of local wines. Friendly and attentive service rounded off a great evening. We will definitely be back again.

Had a phenomenal lunch here yesterday - 6 shared courses for R195. Everything was executed perfectly. Flavors were both complex and refined. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this new comer (its been open for 5 months) cause I’d be shocked if it doesn’t get a Michelin this year.

We managed to get to Upper Bloem at the second time of asking as we couldn't find a place to park first time because Ed Sheeran was playing at Green Point stadium and the area was full of people with a pathological hatred of music. Anyway I'm so pleased that we made the time to rearrange our visit as the food was spectacular. The food takes its influence from Cape Malay cuisine and each course has three tasting plates. One of our party is expecting at the moment and was unable to eat anything raw, the kitchen provided her with a vegetarian alternative to each dish which she reports was delicious. The wine selection was excellent. If we lived in Cape Town rather than London we would certainly be returning customers.

Good food really interesting flavours, have the frozen naartjie curd and curry leaf for dessert. Good service. It was a bit noisy (mostly because of the loud group of ladies next to us) with no ambient music. Definitely worth trying out.

Excellent food, unique and very interesting flavors, also beautifully balanced, very satisfying and intriguing. The staff is amazing! The triple cooked potatoes where outstanding! Overall value for quality, unlike few.

We had dinner here last week Friday night. What an experience. The food was absolutely sensational, the wine selection was great, and the ambiance was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. We were really impressed and look forward to returning soon. The service was also amazing.

What a fantastic meal! The chef, Andre hails from Bo Kaap and takes inspiration from Cape Malay flavours. After a delicious board of breads and creative butters you are served two courses comprising of three small dishes each. Tapas style. We didn’t have dessert but the choices sounded very enticing. A varied and interesting wine list accompanies the meal with full bar option too. The restaurant is beautifully designed with much attention to detail. The team serving your meal are knowledgeable and charming. I’ll definitely be back!

I loved dinner here ... one of the best tasting experiences I've had in my life. Value to price can't be beat. The food was great, I wont go into details since it changes seasonally. But everything we had was delicious. Plus there were 2 courses that didnt even show up on the menu that came along as a bonus. Woot woot! Highly recommend.

For anyone (read: visitors to SA) wanting to try South African style food, there is nowhere better than Upper Bloem in Green Point start. A delectable tasting menu with names familiar to locals - snoek pate, bunny chow, koesisters - but done with twists of flair and originality that create a series of taste explosions in your mouth. There is a wine pairing option should you choose. 3 courses are yours for R495, with desert extra, which I thought was a fair price. Our guests, visitors from the UK, were truly bowled over, and in truth so were we.
