What an awesome way to start a Saturday morning with my nephews..... breakfast at Vovo Telo. Waitrons were friendly, efficient and did their best to keep our group happy. Breakfast was delicious and more than enough for our hungry tummies. My nephews enjoyed their hot chocolate and their pizza and grilled cheese sandwich. We didn't have to wait long for our meals. The something sweet .... carrot cake was scrumptious and one slice was enough to fee two of us. Prices were reasonable and the food value for money .
This place is right in middle of all of the fun and action on the Waterfront. The menu is really great we had a BLT and Cuban Sandwich. Very generous and well presented. Fresh and flavoursome. The wedges were just as good. The frozen G & Ts were amazing. Service was good. Well worth the visit.
The placing is perfect. The service was quick and friendly. We love their pizzas. The cake bases were dry. But we would still come back to any Vovo Telo. It’s perfect for any breakfast or lunch.
I like this place for casual eating. No stress. No fuss. Simple unique flavours. Very rustic. Very straightforward. Perfect for a late afternoon snack.
Awesome breakfast and lunch spot in the heart of the waterfront. Wholesome food and home baked treats make it an awesome spot. For the health conscious they also offer Banting and gluten free options such as Banting bread and cheesecake. Service is friendly and efficient and costs are more than reasonable. A regular breakfast and lunch spot for us that never disappoints.

We had breakfast two days in a row. Pulled pork with poached eggs on sourdough toast with fresh chopped green chilli in olive oil - absolutely brilliant. Orange Apple Ginger fresh juice - very good. Americano coffee - top class. Service - excellent.
I think it was slightly expensive as far as I recall since it has been a while but we had GOOD service and really GOOD FOOD TOO! Love the salmon, salads, breakfasts etc!
We had this amazing Lindt coffee latte, red cappuccino and bar one cake. All three were amazing and the ocean view from the restaurant just made it all taste that much better. You can smell the beautiful ocean and relax in the amazing views while drinking amazing coffee. Our rating: a nice place to eat and relax at the V&A.
Excellent breakfast. Stayed at the waterfront and ate here almost everyday of our vacation. Bread is fresh, coffee is excellent, and eggs and sautéed mushrooms and tomatoes cooked perfectly! Nice vibe with the outdoor seating. We also sat indoors on one of the colder mornings and watched them bake their bread.
The menu has a variety of choices, however when it came to ordering pasta I was told they don’t serve pasta before 12pm which I would have preferred to have been stated when we sat down or on the menu as I was really looking forward to the pasta. Nevertheless I ordered something else which was alright, just very difficult to cut the bread and fillet steak with the blunt knife I was given. All in all, the meal was good.
After the morning rains, we decided to go for coffees and cake at Vovo Telo at the V&A. It was fairly busy, but service was excellent. Placed our orders and received our drinks in a very reasonable time. Ordered a slice of their famous carrot cake (ordered it due to a recommendation). Oh!My!Word! It was as good as I was told! Go and try it out!
Was blown away by this outlet. The waiters were so friendly & attentive. I had a scrambled egg croissant that was delicious. The setting was beautiful & would love to return next time I'm in Cape Town.
We came by for some tea and cake. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and helped us to find a good table for the wheelchair. We both loved the strawberry tart but found the other sweet treat a bit arb. It was meant to be an almond pastry but seemed more like a cupcake with no icing. We enjoyed being about to sit outside and enjoy all of the music and energy of the waterfront
One of my favourite eateries in the waterfront. Quality food is served here. I've been here a number of times for both breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are the usual affair - nothing special. But their lunch/dinner options are really good. I'm not a salad kinda person - but their honey mustard chicken salad is beyond amazing! And it is so filling! Their pizza's are woodfired, thin and crispy served in an oblong shape on a wooden board. Amazing! And their pastas... you can so taste the difference between frehly made pasta and the store bought packet stuff - here they hand make their pasta! So worth the carbs!
Update: Returned for their amazing honey mustard chicken salad, this time with coconut bread. Kudos to my waiter, Brian, for recommending the coconut bread!
Nice little place out side the waterfront, had the bacon and chilli honey and it was awesome. Just wish it was a bit more bigger for the price it cost. But will definitely go there again
Surrey Hills Breakfast - Quite disappointing. Sourdough bread was barely toasted🍞, but egg 🍳was perfectly poached. Avo 🥑 bit hard and there was tad too much feta 🧀. No sign of the lemon-infused olive oil 🍋🤔
Apple Cinnamon Pain Perdu - Just BEAUTIFUL 🍏💙👌 French toast done to perfection, mascarpone a nice touch.

This is always the first place we visit when we come to Capetown. Great view, such friendly helpful staff and an original menu its hard to choose.
Had lunch here on my trip to the Mother City. The location is spot on. Right next to the V&A but not part of the mall. Everything we ate here was spot on. Fantastic place for a lazy meal near the water front. They also do their breads right. The sour dough is my personal favorite.
We had drinks with friends and family. It was a busy day at the v&a and also at vovo telo but we didn't wait long for our food or drinks. The waiter was really very friendly and so cheerful. Will def visit again even on a busy day 👌🏻
It's decent, the food is paired with fresh ingredients and if you manage to get there early enough to have the Eggs Benedict it's my personal favorite. I was a bit sad to be served a cold pastel de nata- being a porra this is a serious no go. The pastry is not pleasant at all when cold. After asking for a warm one I was served a nuked one from the microwave which kinda just oozed over the plate.
After the Spar Ladies Walk on Sunday, we decided to have breakfast at this cafe situated across from Mitchell's and Ferryman's. They were packed, but luckily they were able to secure a table for us. Our waiter was friendly and upfront about the fact that only one person was attending the bar, which meant we'll have to wait a while for our coffee. Our food arrived and shortly thereafter our drinks - both were so good, that we weren't too fussed about it. The bread is definitely a winner!
We popped in to Vovo Telo for a quick lunch last Saturday. I ordered the caramelized pear, coppa ham and brie pizza - which was delicious (but more of a flat bread of sorts rather than an actual pizza). My sister had the beef burger, which she found to be okay. The restaurant was fairly busy so the service was a bit slow but I would definitely go back if I need a grab a decently priced meal whilst at the waterfront.
Vovo Telo is a lovely addition to the Waterfront. I stopped by twice, once for dinner and another for breakfast, both were an absolute treat. You can tell the ingredients they use are fresh.
The service is exceptionally warm and friendly. The lemon meringue pie is a must.
Stopped by for cake and a hot drink. The hot choc was divine, it really hit the spot after a cruise. The red velvet cake on the other hand was quite average. It needed to be more moist.
Definitely the place to go for a laid back, mid morning brunch date. Friend and I swear on their buttermilk hotcakes served with mascarpone and fresh berries. Absolutely delicious and fluffy. Decently sized portion for the price makes it a place I would definitely continue to recommend to anyone and everyone! Go try it out and see what you thing, don't worry the hotcakes are not too sweet
I'd visited Vovo Telo in Johannesburg a few times (I think it's the original), so I was expecting a good experience and I wasn't disappointed - or blown away. Service was good and the food was solid, particularly their thin-base pizzas. Their kids menu is also a notch above the standard generic one. A good spot for a decent lunch or light dinner.
Great for coffee and breakfast or lunch. Can't say I've ever been disappointed there so you should definitely give it a try if you feeling peckish in the waterfront.
A reasonably new restaurant that has taken over! Fresh food is all once needs on a hot summer day and this is definitely the place to go! Many people undermine this Trendy place but it's definitely not a disappointment.
Their hot chocolates are sweet and delicious. Their salads are large and are decorated with many toppings and will fill you right up. Not only are their dishes good but their fresh bakery on the side will give you an opportunity to take something home.

I visited Vovo Telo yesterday afternoon. The service was a bit slow as first and we sat at the top and it was difficult to get the waiters attention. The upstairs was quieter and more peaceful. I ordered the chocolate vovochino to drink and the chocolate cake. The vovochino was good. The chocolate cake was not too rich and I found it a bit dry. My friend ordered a cappuccino and the harvest board which we shared. The harvest board was filled with veggies and Danish feta with a chili pesto on top and accompanied with a baguette bread. We both really enjoyed this board. It was healthy and fresh.
On a lovely balmy evening we decided on a cafe style meal at Vovo Telo V&A.
Being school holidays the Waterfront was very lively and busy with excited kids & young families.
We ordered a cheese board to share and it was perfect. Just the right amount of cheese and a good variety of blue, camembert, strong cheddar and baby mozarella.
Hubby ordered the 3 cheese pizza with gypsey ham. The first time he received it - it was raw so back it went. The second time around, the ham was missing so back that went. He didn't want another one. The manager was most apologetic and made up for it with coffee and cheesecake. A white chocolate cheese cake with a dark chocolate and hazelnut base. Oh my word - it was incredible!
I opted for the chicken livers in a peri peri tomato & cream sauce. It was absolutely the best chicken livers I have ever had.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant is clean and we will definitely return again.
Stopped here for a bite on the way home. Service is slow and this place is jam packed all the time. The food was ordered and arrived in a decent amount of time ;) I went with the seared beef carpaccio, my mom ate the coconut chicken soup and my partner the chicken, feta and strawberry salad. The beef carpaccio was tasty, the coconut soup had a bit too much desiccated coconut in for my liking and was very bland. The chicken salad was full of flavor and paired well with the strawberry. In the hustle and bustle here which is a nice atmosphere ;)
Freshly baked artisan breads and decadent coffee are what you will find here along with freshly squeezed juices and various dishes on the menu.
My favourite is the Coppa Croissant and the (very strong) ice coffee. I can sit for hours reading a book and watching the tourists walk by.
When that sweet tooth calls for a decent treat..all you need is love and cake!

There is nothing delightful eating a freshly baked bread or a buttery croissant whilst enjoying a cup of coffee. Who can resist the smell of hot-out-of-the-oven breads?
It has a very charming setting with a lovely outdoor seating where you can absorb all the sights and sounds of the Waterfront. While the decadent cheesecake looks incredible, it's the chocolate brownie that has captured my heart...and my sweet tooth! Rich and indulgent with chopped nuts to add to the texture and flavour.
Bread is their passion and is a perfect place to stop for good coffee and food.

When we arrived the restaurant was packed, and I thought that there would be no way that we would get quick service. Boy, was I wrong! When we arrived we were greeted very warmly and we got a good table. Once we sat down the waiter took our coffee order and we received it very quickly. We ordered the Griddle Cakes and Poached Eggs and asked for the eggs to be done hard and medium. When the meals arrived the eggs were done PERFECTLY. I was so impressed by the attentiveness of the waiter and the overall vibe of the restaurant. The menu is very interesting - I will definitely be going back to try some of the other meals!
Coffee was really good, with friendly staff. Ordered the Carrot Cake which did not live up to my expectation at all. The waiter was nice enough to change it for a really great lemon cheese cake. Great service.

Vovo Telo looks like an inviting little restaurant from the outside. Stacks of bread line the windows and watching the guys at work making the food is fantastic.
Initially stopped by for a coffee and ham and cheese pastry ( both of which was fantastic), I came back later in the day to try lunch. A friend recommended the beef burger (with ham and caramelized onions) which I got. The burger was good but not the greatest. The prices were relatively reasonable for the waterfront area but felt the other shops in the shed may offer better value food.
The cappuccino however is amazing. Really recommend anyone to try it.
Very homely feel. Good quality food that is reasonably priced. Breads are top notch and has great sandwiches. Would definitely recommend the lemon chicken served with couscous.
Vovo telo is atrendy coffeeshop in the Waterfront. There is a nice mix of inside and outside tables. Service was pretty good and the menu has an interesting array of food which seemed to be decently pruced when compared to other Waterfront eateries. Our coffee was good and the scones, while denser than I'm used to, tasty with enough sides to satisfy us. Worth a return trip, though looks as if it can get incredibly busy.
Same standard of quality I would expect from a vovo telo. But service is lacking. Coffee and croissants are good. Describe in one word, "average."
Nice eatery that specialises in baled goods. Fresh breads of all kinds baked daily. Pretty interiors make it cozy and inviting. I had an amazing chai tea latté and chose à pizza panini style dish. Cheese was too bitter for my liking and I didn't like those onion under the cheese. Great service otherwise. I'll opt for a sandwich next time
Given how crazy the waterfront is this time of year, trying to get a table at any place is chaos. So when we spotted a free table at Vovo Telo we jumped in and ordered some drinks and food.
I had the beef burger which was fantastic while the kids had flapjacks and the wifee had chicken liver pasta.
All in all good food with good service given the chaos!
From the friendly guy at the door to the guy who sat us down! Friendly front house manager Nicole. These guys have nailed the customer experience bit. The place smell like freshly baked bread. Aromas coming from the kitchen make your mouth water. The prices are reasonable for the waterfront. The food is great and has been prepared with care. Our waiter was very engaging. Will definitely come back again
Such a gorgeously cute place ! We sat outside for a bit until it became too cold and we moved inside, upstairs. Its really homely and adorable. Management could be a bit more friendly or engaging as our table was right next to their little office. Food is so tasty. And different. Especially the bacon and chilli honey pizza. Pity about the size of it though ! Its so tiny. Service wasnt so great in the beginning with the waiter rushing us and rushing around and sweating, even though its not so busy. He became relaxed towards the end of the evening, closer to home time. Also tried the De Krans Moscato wine and it was fresh and tasty. Will definitely come back for the wine !
I've always enjoyed the food here. Freshly prepared and made with quality ingridients insures its always a win. Would love to see more baked goods on the breakfast menu but loves the poached egg and brie combo. I would definitely recommend giving them a visit.
Situated right next to the wheel at V&A, we decided to pop by for lunch. We all had a frostee (basicly a smoothie) which is perfect after hours of walking on a hot day and the mixed berry flavour was delish. One of my friends had the honey and mustard chicken salad, it looked amazing and she could not stop saying how good it was. I had a honey and mustard chicken panini and so did my other friends. We were all satisfied and enjoyed our visit.

On our last day in Cape Town, we decided to head to the V & A to grab a quick and nutritious breakfast. I was not planning on going to Vovo Telo, but once I spotted it sticking out behind the Cape Wheel, I could not resist giving it a try.
It has a rustic feel to it. It has brown hues and wooden furniture. You almost get the sense that "farm to table" cuisine is in store. My assumption was correct as their produce is grown locally and everything is sugar and preservative free.
I ordered their freshly squeezed apple juice and it was so amazing to taste the difference between this apple juice and normal ones. The consistency, colour and taste is vastly different. It is less sweet, but tangy enough to get your attention. I then opted for a mulberry and marula ice tea. It cleansed my palate whilst quenching my thirst. My breakfast consisted of a corn cake, poached eggs, grilled tomatoes, bacon, a mushroom and freshly baked bread.
It is always refreshing to have a lighter and healthier breakfast as opposed to a greasy one. This was a plus as I was about to board a plane and a greasy breakfast would not have digested smoothly through the turbulence.
Vovo Telo is on the cape town waterfront, next to the famous Ferris wheel. I had a belgian hot chocolate, it was hot milk with a huge belgian chocolate wheel on a stick that melts away in the milk, now this is the only way to have a hot chocolate unlike the powdered products you get in most restaurants. To eat I had a Hot Corn Cake, it was a corn based flapjack with poached eggs, bacon , pesto and cherry tomatoes. The meal was amazing, a very unique breakfast. The prices were reasonable especially because it was at the V&A Waterfront.
As it's not situated with a view of the harbour it was a good sign that this restaurant was buzzing when we stopped for breakfast. The menu is varied with some innovations beyond the usual limited selection of breakfast choices. I had 2 soft poached edges with crispy ham,rosa tomatoes, rocket and aioli on ciabatta. The eggs were perfectly cooked but the aioli was a little too mild and the crispy ham looked good but was disappointing - as though it had been cooked some time ago and left to get cold and tough.
Best part of the meal was the sublime decaf coffee. Freshly ground and strong.
Service was very good from cool waiters who were friendly and efficient.
The place had a good feeling and I can understand why it was busy. Food is above average and could have been very good with some minor improvements.
Anyway I would go back for the coffe alone!

Ate breakfast here whilst on holiday with hubby. Everything was so tasty and made with such care. Service was great! Their thin crust pizzas made from ciabatta dough was my absolute favorite!! Will definitely visit again.

I can't help but be biased when reviewing Vovo Telo. From its humble beginnings in my home town of Port Elizabeth to such a popular spot(s) in Cape Town, I can't help but be proud and always point out that fact to friends when walking past or actually going for a breakfast/lunch. What I like about their menu is it quite reasonable and just feels like a healthier option than some of the other spots around the Waterfront. My favourite breakfast is the Pain Perdu: french toast with berry compote and mascopone. I like that a lot of the breakfasts come with gypsy ham rather than the usual bacon.
It's also great that you usually end up buying some schmancy breads to take home. So yum.
Lovely fresh breads; light, rectangular pizzas; sandwiches; salads and more. I love the fresh, homely decor and the relaxed atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable and the service decent. I also enjoyed the buzz of the passers by, the seagulls flying overhead and view of the harbour. A great little spot.
The V&A waterfront is surrounded by expensive, a little over done restaurants that appeal to people who want to make an event out of a meal. Sometimes you just want a tasty meal, coffee and no pretentiousness. Volvo Telo ticks all those boxes.
The staff were super friendly even helping me bring my stroller up and down the stairs. There was a mixup with my Cappucino and I got a red Cappucino, I'm not a big fan of tea and was pretty confused for a while at how the coffee was so sweet. My wife did enjoy the tasting sip to make sure I wasn't crazy and she does like tea. We shared a bacon and chilli honey pizza. It was delicious although very sticky.
One tiny mark off was the flavored ice tea wasn't done locally but just a bottle, took us by surprise since a lot of other drinks and food there are all made on premise. It could also be us not reading the menu properly.
Overall super affordable, tasty food and nice service.
I'm a big fan of the Vovo Telo franchise and the V&A outlet is one of their best locations. Situated right next to the The Cape Wheel and in front of the V&A food court. This outlet is unique with its wooden mezzanine level inside that gives it a farm barn feel.
A firm favorite at the waterfront and a top bakery in the area. As a big fan of cakes and bakes, Vovo telo is a go-to spot. They have amazing sour dough bread and delicious chocolate croissants made fresh every morning. In the evening I would suggest trying their beef,rocket and balsamic reduction pizza, it's thin based and not shy on toppings.
A favorite spot for breakfast. The atmosphere at the V & A is always good and it's nice to enjoy a meal outside, beneath the big wheel. Management could be a little more engaging, but overall, a good experience..

A lovely breakfast on a beautiful winters day in Cape Town. We sat outside and the sun was enriching, just like our meal. I had the 44 Stanley, which is basically the works on a plate. Ciro coffee and the fact that I didn't get a choice in choosing my bread was the only negative. Guys, a little advice, use a local coffee brand. They are all epic! Oh, and the toast was rock hard, not sure if that was because I got rye? Waiter was ok, they were packed. I have been here many times and on average I have to say they do a good job. This time is a 3,5 for me considering all the factors that day. The food was great though and I will be back to hopefully up my rating as I really like this spot. :)
Such a snug little bakery cafe. Was super great that its just outside the bigwheel. Location. Location. Location. I had a lovely chai spicy which had just the right amount of spice and got to steal a sip of a gorgeous hot choclate. The croissants are top class. Will definitely be back soon. Service was good.

I'm a huge Vovo Telo fan and I've been to a few of the Joburg branches as well as the one in Umhlanga and on Kloof Street. While the service isn't anything to rave about, I've had the yummiest food at all the Vovo Telo stores that I've been to. This one was totally unique and, being situated right beneath the Ferris Wheel on the Victoria Wharf, has a funky & upbeat kinda vibe that makes you feel like you're somewhere oveseas. The place smells like freshly baked ciabatta and ground coffee beans which is an incredibly mouth watering combination. What was also super enticing was the artisan bread tasting table at the bottom of the staircase and it took a lot of will power to walk past without grabbing a few pieces!
My waiter was very patient while I made a decision about my order which I appreciate. I had the Apple Cider (which I've never tried before), and he kindly came to ask if I was enjoying it. Despite being busy, I pretty much blinked and my sandwich arrived! The Pesto Chicken and Pecorino on Sourdough was a real winner! The bread was super fresh, the rocket was crunchy and the chicken just tasted wholesome and delicious! The pecorino cheese brings a really yummy Italian flavour which I just love! This branch has or a great thing going- awesome location, delicious food and a feel-good atmosphere! Will definitely be coming back!
What a fantastic little bakery/café! I had such trouble deciding what I wanted as the menu is so diverse. I ended up having the pulled pork piadini with veggie crisps and I wasn't disappointed! The apple and mint frostee was delicious too!
The Rooibus latte was delicious and I liked the mixed berry yogurt smoothie with protein.
The standout star on the Big English plate was the sausage, it had hints of clove and was the best I’ve had on any breakfast plate anywhere.
I got the almond croissant pastry, it was delicious, but very dense. Not really a croissant texture at all and lacked almond paste filling, wouldn’t order it again but would try others.
Volo Telo is a wonderful lunch spot! Situated in the heart of the V&A waterfront, it’s a great spot to people watch and listen to live music when the nearby stage is in use. I had a club sandwich & a Shirley Temple and it was AWESOME! The service was pretty quick too. A lot of service in Cape Town is slow so definitely check this place out if you need a semi-quick place to eat!
Was once turned away from here as it had not opened yet (it was 10 minutes to go). Decided to never go back, however today as I passed it was open so I decided to give it a try....
Glad I did.... excellent service. All the staff are attentive even if they are not your waitron. Food as good. The ciabatta perfect, enough aeration, crisp crust not overdone so that you need a saw to cut through it. Coffee good as well.

Vovo Telo has been our go-to breakfast / lunch spot in the V&A Waterfront for a few years now. I've always experienced excellent service, incredibly fresh and tasty meals with a range of healthy options. Their coffee is one of my favorites!
I went here with family of varying ages, we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere, however I will excuse the service as it was quite packed and it seemed they were short on staff (from the looks of it). Overall though, it was a good experience the hot-chocolates was an amazing size for price, although their beer selection is limited, it's understandable as it generally isn't a place where you'd expect to drink alcohol, however their cocktails are well done as well.
Great meal! The photos don't do justice to the taste we had experienced. The restaurant got busier as we ate our meal over the lunch time. Unfortunately the coffee was not good. After joking that we have had the best coffee at Pauline's it was a disappointment to have a Vovo Telo cup of coffee. Once again the food was great!

Had the eggs benetelo with crispy bacon. It was delicious. Nice setting at V&A but the restrooms are quite far away, which is kind of unpleasant. Other than that we were happy with the service and food
Great breakfast spot. It was my first time visiting and I was impressed. The Pastrami on Rye Sarmie & Cuban Sandwich flavours were well balanced and tasty. Loved the ingredient combination. The Eggs Benetelo with pulled pork was made perfectly, they got my soft egg just right and the pulled pork added a sweet touch. If you are looking for an ordinary breakfast then the Big English Breakfast will also hit the spot as it was quite filling. The only thing I would ask for next time is that our hot drinks come extra hot as it was lukewarm and we finished it before our food arrived. The Vietnamese Latte however was very enjoyable.
Delicious generously portioned foods. Rich and flavourful. We were six guests who each had a different meal and none of us were dissapointed. Reccomend the breakfast waffle! We had to wait a bit for our drinks, probably because they were a bit complicated, but the delicious food and drink made up for it. Staff took great care of us. Absolutely loved everything about this place.

I would recommend dining in, and DEFINITELY asking for Jimmy when being seated. Friendly staff, extremely quick service, and flavourful food!

Vovo telo is a great place for both breakfast and lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. We’ve eaten there multiple times and there was no issue to adjust to my food intolerances and I have many 😉 they have quite a big palette of choice of dishes and freshly squeezed juices. Just a really nice place in a good central location
Very nice situated at the waterfront next to the Ferris wheel, service was very friendly, we had a nice table outside ( though the inside looked very nice as well). We had a pastrami on rye and a caramel waffle plus a fresh orange juice and a cappuccino. The food was really good and I would recommend Vovo Telo as there are also some restaurants at the waterfront with high prices but not overwhelming quality.
