A huge selection of different things to choose from. The store is spacious and neat. Sushi belt has a great selection as well, and the half-price special makes it decent value for money. Sushi was tasty, not the best sushi you could eat but you will be satisfied. I recommend trying out the salmon salad, which is R55 (but less 50% so R27.50) because it doesn't have rice and has A LOT of salmon and avo (tell them take it easy on the mayo, sometimes they get a bit too generous). Bamboo rolls (Cucumber, salmon and prawn) were also rice-less and tasted great.
Be careful when choosing some of the pre-prepared sushi platters from the store though. In the mornings they use leftover sushi from the belts, so it won't be super fresh, although very cheap.

Went there for the buffet breakfast...absolutely everything that you can think of is there. From eggs cooked in several ways, to different meat selections, to different fruit options...and the list continues. The buzz in the cafe created a great ambience.
I went back for lunch a well...opted for a healthier option though: my own designed salad. Chose to have a smoothie from the smoothie bar and a Danish pastry from the bakery.

If I'm in town, I always go for their half price sushi special that they have. Very filling and satisfying. Service is quick and good. Sushi belt has a wide variety to choose from unlike the Claremont branch.

Besides for the Coffee Shop they have everything else from a bakery, deli, biltong bar, fresh stand where they make delicious smoothies from fresh fruit, a salad bar where you can build your own salad, a hot food buffet area, a rack and grill stand, a pizza and panini stand, a sushi bar, a sweet selection and geez so much more!
Only their sushi, things prepared by the bakery, the fresh fruit stand and the salad bar is halaal.
Lunch time this place is really buzzing but they numerous of pay points along with efficient and friendly staff accommodate for the masses of customers they receive throughout the day.
Decided to grab a quick bite to eat from Food Lovers. The cafe has a great selection of food and everything reasonably priced. I ordered a toasted pulled pork sandwich which only cost R26.99! Talk about a bargain! Can't complain about the service either as it was super quick and highly efficient.

If ever there was a place that offers value for money, its the burger place inside this food lovers. The burgers are quite big and cooked to perfection, nice and juicy. Only problem is getting a table as space is limited.
Have lunch here every day and there's so much to choose from I would even know where to start. Healthy options at affordable prices too. Remains a favorite.
The food is cheap and delicious. The service can be a bit slow sometimes but the waiters are friendly. The only problems are that there isn't enough seating areas and so many times you are unable to eat here due to lack of a place to sit and the other is that the food takes quite long to come out which doesn't make it ideal when you only have an hour lunch break.
Great concept..different options under one roof. Loved their buffet breakfast concept ..you can chose high protein or carb protein mix with salad.Very affordable.
I used to work opposite Food Lovers Market, so you can only imagine the temptation. Every day, I would go there and buy a salad, pasta or peanut butter smoothie.
I really love the concept of buying salads or food and choosing your own food at the buffer bar. So if I needed to add a protein to my lunch, I would quickly pop around to the store and buy it.
The staff is very friendly and the food is reasonably priced.
What a brilliant concept! A few steps from my office, this crowd-feeder gets it right. All the feelgood food you may crave! Even the budget or waistline conscious have a wide range to select from. You pay by weight and if you choose carefully, you can have a feast on less than R60. Be careful of your timing though - if you go at a popular time, you may have to queue (it never moves fast enough when you're hungry and the flavours are tickling your tastebuds), but if you get there after 1pm your favourite meal (chicken pie) may have been scoffed.

If I worked in Cape Town CBD I would never eat lunch anywhere else but here! Firstly the variety is out of the world, from pastas and pastries to at least 15 different salads and fresh sushi, the options are almost endless. You could easily eat a different meal everyday for months and you will struggle to control yourself the first time you walk in. Everything I have eaten here has been yummy and very fresh. If you come during the rush don't despair the queues moves quite quickly. I enjoy the outdoor seating they have but that damn Cape Town wind makes eating outside a little difficult. This is definitely my number one value-for-money-every-day-lunch spot!
Popped into this food lovers today, bought a friend a chicken wrap and some mixed nuts for myself. First thing that caught my eye was the cleanliness, and even at 1pm in the avi, service was quick and we were helped promply. The cashiers were friendly, i have to go again soon the sushi was calling my name!

Love love love this spot. Quick and friendly service and so centrally located. There is definitely something on the menu for every taste; from delicious breakfasts to salads and burgers. Everything is so extremely reasonable, there is a breakfast special for R17 before 11am which is so tasty. Really recommend trying it out for a quick work lunch or breakfast.
Great cafe with a wide selection of healthy options! Perfectly located for the business person in mind. Only R9.99 per 100g for the breakfast buffet... What a steal! I had flapjacks and a fried egg, whilst my mom had French toast, scrambled eggs and savory mince beef. Delicious!
I come here almost every day and it's always busy. There is literally every lunch option you could think of. Their salad bars are great and affordable, I love that you get to dish up your own ingredients. Would be nice if they changed the options every now and then, but Food Lovers will always be my go to work lunch spot.
The half price sushi on Thursday nights is such a great deal and equally great sushi!! The conveyor-belt style service makes for a fun experience, but if you want a specific type of roll, you can order that too. I just wish it was open later than 6!
It's always busy here and that's because they have so many options to suit everybody. They have pizzas, sushi, pasta and yummy salads if you want healthy options.
The quality if the food is good and the prices are great. There is also plenty of space if you want to sit there and enjoy your meal. It's a great place to have catch up lunch with friends. You know that everybody is covered.

The food here is very well priced and definitely a great place to go to when you are in a rush and looking for something substantial to eat. Don't expect gourmet quality food or fine dining type service, this is a down to earth cafe serving descent quality food.
Catering primarily to the office lunch crowd, a variety of hot and cold prepared foods with a small grocery area. The food is reliable and service is prompt. The layout can create some traffic jams, but a little deft navigation and there's little other cause for complaint. If you arrive in the mid afternoon, the selection can be lacking, BUT there are invariably discounted sandwiches or prepared meals. Saturday, around 1300/1330 is my favorite time, because they clear out the bakery by making everything at that counter 3 for R20. The only qualm, as someone who lives quite close, is that the price and selection disincentivize cooking!
I usually pop into food lovers market at Newspaper house for a salad or sarmie but this time I decided to have a squizz at the little restaurant inside to see if they did takeaways. They are always busy so I figured I’d give them a go. Boy am I glad that I did because I have found a new winner-spot. I ordered a beef burger and chips for R35 (seriously… what a bargain). Service was friendly and fast and I was completely wowed when I got back to the office and saw what was inside my takeaway box… all this for R35. I am happy to report that it tasted great – my only moan is that the burger didn’t have a slice of tomato/gherkin on it, which left it without any crunch or tang. Other than that, it was good and the chips were delicious. I will most definitely be back.
Ah, Food Lovers. I always stop here for a quick coffee and a light snack when I'm on my little escapades around town.
They brew it just the way I like it - black, very strong and with no milk. A classic large Americano. You probably wonder why hey?! I'm lactose intolerant, my digestive system can only handle a small portion of dairy. So I've learned to drink my coffee as is - mon cafe noir - I actually like the taste. You get to taste and smell the flavour of the coffee!
Anyway they offer great service, have friendly working faces and I just love how it's always buzzing with customers, you know.
You can grab your morning paper whilst having a really good breakfast...it's affordable and dumb-smack in the middle of the CBD!

Great place to stop in for lunch and some light grocery shopping. They have a huge variety of foods available from sandwiches to sushi, a hot food bar, and a salad bar. They have a lot of healthy options. They also have normal groceries, if you need to pick something up while on your lunch break. I always enjoy stopping through here!
Great place for your everyday veggies aswell as coffee and sushi! Great for meals too with a very large variety. I love the open space in the searing area. Love the sushi section especially the halfprice special after 5pm. One of my favourite foodlover outlets
I love this place! Best quality/quantity/variety of AMAZING food and GREAT value for money. My go to spot when looking for lunch. Oh and half price sushi after 3, is an added bonus.
The food here is generally spectacular. This review will however deal exclusively with the sushi.
Generally the sushi here is exceptional. It is fresh, they don't skimp on ingredients, and the pieces are generally very attractive.
They offer specials in two ways. Firstly, after 5 they offer half price provided you sit down.
Secondly, if you venture inside you can see what I imagine is yesterday's sushi sold at a huge discount (R50 for 20 pieces).
Now regarding these sushi pieces I can admit that most are still very appetizing. A few of them are however a bit dodgy. In my experience anything pan fried, like seared tuna, makes the sushi very oily and ruins the taste. Additionally anything where you expect a crunch should be avoided. Each tray contains a variety and you just need to be mindful of the pieces to get what is ultimately an unbelievable bargain, because even a day old, some of those pieces far outweigh other places on their best day.
En route to Nuri Sushi Bar, we walked past this Food Lovers. I've wanted to go try their sushi for a long time and it changed our minds completely when we saw the 50% off sushi lunch deal. Definitely a good decision made! The sushi was delicious and very well priced. Tried some new dishes that I would definitely have again. Thumbs up ????

The sushi conveyor belt is great, if you're looking for an inexpensive lunch. It's not Takumi, or Nobu, but it is fresh, well portioned, and the sushi chefs are eager to please.
There's a half price special between 3pm and 6pm which is fantastic value for money
I think this is probably the best Food Lovers Market in the country. They have excellent service (somewhat because they are in CT and not JHB), and its quite clean.... the aromas are inviting as you enter the market (unlike in JHB that has a stale smell)... and the sushi looks fresh. There is a pasta stand, sushi stand, etc ..... Its definitely a good place to go for lunch in the CBD
