Review Lola's - Cape Town Central

We had a lovely quiet breakfast at Lola's. Amazing eggs benedict, perfectly cooked, with fresh English muffins - the open kitchen wafting delicious smells throughout the seating area. The coffee wasn't bad, nothing too special. I will be back for lunch soon!

Lola's you are soooooo amazing !!!! I normally refuse to try pancakes when i travel because i dont want to be disappointed !!!ANDDDDDD BOYYYYYY am I glad I did!!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the pancakes ....The Eggs and the fresh juice was a hit also.. Im very picky about fresh juice i dont like " Pulp" so when i see fresh juice im again on the fence about trying it because its normally a glass of pulp... BUT GUESS WHO GOT IT RIGHT!!! thats right LOLAS!!! You guys are great ... i wanted to try a mimosa but they only had orange juice for the mixture...

Had the waffle and it was good and hearty but wish it has more sauce on it. Coffee was yummy but had to wait a while for it to cool down. Great wifi so good spot to relax a bit.

My second breakfast there and I absolutely love it. Friendly staff and speedy service. Food is great, just wish the coffee cups where bigger. (But that seems to be a Cape Town problem, not a Lolla's problem) They even went as far as to bring water for my dog that I had with me in a dogbowl even. Asked if they are dog friendly and was told, outside is not a problem and as long as they are not busy. Card machines needs an update but the Yoko worked perfectly. So I honestly can give them a 5* on everything.

Sister's breakfast, one that we all missed use to have it once a month, due to COVID we had to miss lots of pur Sister's breakfasts, but now we on again.

Delicious breakfast! Flavors of the eggs Benedict were inspired. Do try the salmon with your Benedict.

Great little cafe. Decent menu with a range from burgers, pasta, salads, and some delicious healthy options. Also several desserts. Quick and very friendly service. I’d definitely go back.

Great fresh food can never go wrong with their spruced up menu that changes with seasons. Will always pop around when In CT

Nice place, decent food and lovely atmosphere! Average prices and service can be a bit slow, but all in all still a great little café to enjoy a nice breakfast or a sweet treat!
Carlos
Located in Long Street one of the best places to have breakfast in Cape town city center. Must try Sweetcorn fritters with hershed cream cheese, avo, salsa, rocket, roasted tomato

Great breakfast/brunch spot with great coffee and delicious food. Book a table because it's always packed!

A perfect eggs benedict. Was amazed at how fast the order came out of the kitchen. So fast it was like magic.

A cosy eatery with rich character. Super friendly and accommodating staff. The food was unique and rich in flavor and perfect portions. This is a must visit place when in Cape Town.

Situated on bustling Long street is this eatery, I ordered came here for breakfast and had eggs benedict it was quite good. Service is leisurely and friendly.

Nice place to get out of the long street melee. Good honest breakfast eggs Benedict . Fresh squeezed orange and excellent coffee. Still good after all these years. Service a bit slow if you are on the move!

A very cute cafe with a variety of options for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and suggested us Eggs Benedict, which were superb. I really loved them. The smoothie bowl was good and cappuccino was strong and hot. Great experience with good food and great hospitality.

Cute coffee shop situated in the heart of Long Street.

Service here is above average: Waitress was attentive and management checked up on us a few times.
They have a variety of fresh baked goods which is my thing. I had a banana and chocolate loaf which was out of the world yummy! A pitty it was very expensive for what you get. I felt cheated :/Their hot chocolate was bitterish sweet (how is should be) and it comes with chocolate ganache'. They have almond milk available.

Excellent Breakfasts and Lunches !! I keep returning and am fast becoming a regular. The friendliness of the owner, manager and staff, as well as the quality of food served is exceptional !! Fresh fish and steak dishes are awesome !!

I enjoyed the line fish with mash potato, delicious buttery sauce served with broccoli (plate could have been fuller for the price as it is certainly not a gourmet feel) I really wouldn't recommend the steak on dry bread

O restaurante com toques rústicos, o atendimento normal, sumo de laranja muito bom, o croissant com bacon, lettuce, tomate é muito bom. Pelos vistos, aderiram a campanha das palhinhas de cartão, deixando de usar as de plastico

I went to Lolas back in Dec 2013 and still crave their carrot and ginger juice, and their eggs benedict which came with bacon, an amazing hollandaise sauce and a fresh mint pesto... if I remember right. Havent had a breakfast so good since then, 3 years later!
Mark Muller
Really tasty and good breakfast. Love the fact that the menu changes everyday. Only downside are if you sit next to a drain outside, but only if you are 1 unlucky diner, as only 1 table are next to a drain. Attention to detail are given high priority. Will return!

I was pleased to find it on The Entertainer App and decided to treat my hubby to brunch. I am so sad to say it was disastrous. One of the (presumably senior by her behavior) waitresses was "chatting" so loudly with the kitchen and other waiting staff that we could not help but be subjected to her awful vulgar language, which she did not even attempt to hide. At one point she even loudly recounted how some people she knows are a bunch of "_oeses" (extreme expletive in local lingo). I could barely stand it, but we had already ordered and it was too cold to move outside. I won't even go in to the rest of the experience regarding the food order, which was disastrous solely because of this girl's involvement.

When the bill came we were told that they do not offer The Entertainer App on breakfasts, which is a complete contravention of the App rules, but we really just wanted to get away from there as fast as possible.

Overall the food was mediocre. Our table waitress was sweet and friendly, but the thought of having to face that loud foul-mouthed girl again in such a small space is too much, and certainly not for average fare.

I suspect (from her demeanor) that this specific waitress' job was to hold the fort as a senior and represent the owners in their absence, which is unfortunate because this was not at all the case.

Overall I don't write negative review (rather learn and move on), but this one really stood out for me. There are just too many great spots in Cape Town CBD to ever go back for another bad experience.

Stunning place with a beautiful atmosphere. The mushroom risotto was definitely memorable. I love the wide spread vegetarian options. Lovely and attentive service. Keep it up guys!

Beautiful, cosy café! The eggs benedict is amazing, nice hot drink selection and nice vibe.
Great place for a morning breakfast, sitting along side Long St during the day is fun!

If the city still sleeps Lola's cook! Great for the early birds. A true hidden little gem. One of my most favorite places for a decadent very tasty breakfast plated beautiful and the service is slow but consistent as they are usually jam packet. You have to get here for there omelette. Breakfast get new meaning here you truly break your fast. Right price and ambience. Will always come back for another hot chocolate.

French toast croissant with cinnamon sugar, vanilla syrup, banana, cheese and bacon - A couple of my favourite ingredients all put together alongside a brilliant cup of cappuccino ☕❤

I've always known that Lolas existed, but embarrassingly only tried it recently. Their space is intimate but the flavours are big! The produce is fresh and the menu constantly changes accordingly. For breakfast, I had the poached eggs with basil pesto. They were poached to my liking, soft, so the centre was lovely and runny and the pesto was fresh and generous. My only wish is that the add-ons weren't so pricey and that parking wasn't such a huge mission, especially in the mornings, but food was delicious and service was attentive.
Lizanne
Awesome little corner spot with an inviting and chilled vibe.

Breakfast menu offers variety of meals that all sound delicious. Went for the scrambled eggs. One knows a place takes pride in what they do when you can taste the love in their scrambled eggs. It went very well with the pesto and roasted tomato. My friend had the omelet which also received a lot of praise.

Their coffee is really good and the juices super fresh.
Great breakfast experience!

Friendly service, good berry smoothie and juice blends! The steak sandwich is good too, well presented and yummy bread! Prime position on long street and pretty, eclectic interior 😊
Anja Immelman
Very cute corner shop cafe! Honestly one of the best scrambled egg croissants I've ever had. Flavorful and quick!! Great find in the popular Long street.
Pravika Singh
The eggs benedict with mushrooms were the best I've had, and got even better with a little tabasco sauce. The french toasted croissant with banana and vanilla syrup was also amazing, just a little too sweet for an empty stomach, for me. The iced coffee (not on the menu) was strong but great. The staff were really friendly and attentive, despite our table being around the corner and not in their direct line on sight. I'm definitely going back at the first chance I get.
Francesca Favero
I had heard such good things online about about Lolas, but when I went for breakfast I found it to be particularly mediocre. The eggs were okay, but not phenomenal. Service was not great either. Not coming back in a hurry.
Sanelisiwe Sani Sibanyoni
The most chilled place in long street! The food is great & it's not overpriced. I think it's a great idea having the restaurant in Long because everywhere else is loud & busy. The service is always great also👌🏽👌🏽

Cape Town and especially Long Street is filled with edgy, colourful, contrary, arty farty places.

The clientele in this bistro ranged from weather beaten wanders with words of wisdom for anyone willing to listen, weary businessmen seemingly stuck halfway up the corporate ladder, seen-it-all non-conformist tattoed tomboys looking out at the many grey headed tourists with spectacular moustaches or recovering tikkoppe walking by.

Service was crisp, the Eggs Benedict well worth a try and really nice Flat White.

The Entertainer App vouchers ensures that we will be back at least two more times.
Dineo Mnisi
Probably one of the best eggs Benedict in Cape Town for sure. Perfect for early morning breakfast whilst the roads are still clear from the crowd.
Jayson-Leigh Du Sart
The intimate setting is perfect for a morning breakfast date or lunch date.
The menu changes more often than you'd change your linen but that's the best part - it leaves room for excitement so you're not always eating the same dish.

The atmosphere is relaxed (except on Sunday's, when everyone needs a good breakfast), the staff are cheerful and the owner cooks his own food.

By far the best eggs Benedict in town 🍳

Decided to get a bite, I had the pasta Waseem had the chicken breast - his was slightly overdone but delicious nonetheless. My pasta was delicious just needed some chili. I'll definitely return!

We went here on Saturday morning for breakfast, and considering the table was large - the service was very good. :) The decor and atmosphere isn't great, but it's still pleasant. I ordered the basil pesto scrambled eggs on rye with cherry tomatoes and my friend ordered the eggs benedict with mushrooms and spinach. All and all the food was good - but nothing to rave about.

I fell in love with Lola's a few years ago, on my first trip to the CBD. I have returned a few times to devour the delicious brownie that they serve with ice cream. It is really decadent. The coffee is good as well.

Breakfast and brunch are the way to go in Cape Town.... Tried Lola's on long street and loved it... Cute small menu with everything your looking for, flavor , taste it's all there ...
And of course I had to try the French toast with lovely slices of banana and vanilla syrup.. Nice and crisp just they way it should be be.... Really big omletes and all sorts of fresh juices and coffees...

It's small and Cosy perfect for capetown winter to keep warm ...

Will 100% have breakfast there again xxx

No wonder this place is always busy.

Very good Benedict! Just different - with sundried tomatoes, spinach and pesto. Red cappuccino was a bit milky but still tasty

Service was quick and efficient.

Would definitely go back to have the Croissant French Toast 😬

One of the best strong coffees I ever had! Hubby and I had a very nice breakfast in this busy little restaurant. I had a 3 egg omelette with mushroom, spinach and cream cheese and hubby had scrambled eggs with bacon and smoked salmon on the side.

Cute and quirky spot on Long street. Perfect for breakfast and people-watching. My friends love the eggs benedict and I love the tasty sweetcorn fritters. The prices are reasonable and as the cafe is on the Entertainer app, you get more for less.

Such a lovely and convenient breakfast spot on Long Street . Lovely ambience , great service and delicious food . I was pleased with my breakfast on the go and the service . Will definitely be going back !

Yum yum YUM! Had such a delicious breakfast here, sitting on the corner of long street. Not much else to say other than they offer a really delicious choice of breakfasts that are reasonably priced and satisfy the taste buds to a Sunday morning craving for something sweet.
The eggs benedict were also really good and I'd like to go back to try them out myself!
The interior is also decorated quite nicely so it really is an enjoyable experience inside and out.
Can't wait to return!

I had the seared tuna steak it was unbelievably good I absolutely love the atmosphere can't wait to return and try their paella unfortunately they only make it once a week but I hear it's out of this world

SECOND TIME AROUND
I have to reduce my previous rating due to bad service. The waitrons seemed more obsessed with themselves then the customers. Seeing that the establishment was relatively empty I should not be waiting 15 minutes to have my drinks order taken. The risotto lacked a bit of seasoning but once I added it myself it was seriously one of the best risottos I had. Will be returning for the food and I hope they sort out their service problem

Lola's is such a lovely spot for a coffee and breakfast for a lazy Saturday morning. It is situated in the city but I used to always miss this spot walking by! had good eggs, with mushrooms and a nice Americano. Keep it good.

Great atmosphere, quite relaxed and just right for Sunday brunch. Eggs Benedict is sublime and goes down just right with a Pimm's cocktail. Highly recommended!

We had a stroll down Long street looking for an early breakfast spot. Lola's was open before 9am so we gave it a shot. Absolutely best omelettes in town! Great music, service, health juices, smoothies and cuppacinos!

Popped into Lola's for breakfast last week. The service wasn't great although our waitress did explain they were short staffed. Fortunately the food definitely made up for it... ordered the sweetcorn fritters with bacon....soo good!
Sonja Offwood
A cute little coffee/breakfast spot on long street, but one notices that it is directly on long street and in the CBD. The food was really great, definitely the highlight of the place. The low light was the cost of parking on long street, I know it's out of the coffee shops control, but unfortunately it contributes to the experience.

Lola's is such a lovely spot for a little coffee, treat and catch up. It is perfectly situated in the city so very accessible as an office escape. I had the chocolate brownie and (in addition to everything else that I saw come out the kitchen) was beautiful and delish. Nice spot to get some work done or step out the office for fresh air.

One of many great laid back cafe style establishments on Long Street. Good for a quick meal, or a slow day idling away in from of your laptop, looking up occasionally at the bustle of Long Street.

Menu has a great selection of breakfast foods, coffee is excellent. Sit inside or outside, or at one of the unusual 'sharing tables' - probably ideal for meeting exotic and interesting people, if you're into that sort of thing.
Amy B
A fantastic little spot. Lola's food is delicious, and very reasonably priced. Their Eggs Benedict is absolutely amazing, served with pesto (which is a first for me - delish!!)
This place has a fun vibe, good coffee, and amazing food. Definitely a new favourite of mine.

I would like to begin this review with a disclaimer, I use to waitress at Lolas back in my Varsity days and could be accused of being biased. Then again I have worked at a number of restaurants that wouldn't even deserve a 1.0 rating, so I think its fair that I am just being honest. Lola's is spectacular, its hipster deli feel with all the trimmings of a quaint home make the energy in this place delightful. I know for a fact the the staff are trained to be friendly, approachable and precise. The breakfasts are the real winners in my eyes, with a range of dishes to choose from such as french toasted Croissants, Bacon Eggs Benedict, Omelets and fresh fruit salad to name a few. I usually request a croissant with two poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, baked beans and cheddar cheese....you welcome! Their juices are infamous (but in a good way), try the Apple, cucumber, spinach and ginger combo for a treat. They change the lunch and diner menu almost daily giving patrons a new experience each time but without compromising the quality of food. Craig who is part-owner and Chef is passionate about food and only uses the highest quality of fresh produce. The location of the restaurant attracts an array of tourists and makes for an eclectic environment. I'm proud of my peeps!!!

If you like the hustle and bustle of the Cape Town city life, Lola's is certainly worth a visit. Everytime I escape the winelands to get a taste of Cape Town's vibey city life I find myself at Lola's, sipping on a velvety flat white and waiting for my Eggs Benedict to arrive.

The coffee is fragrant and leaves a taste that lingers on ones tongue. I always end up having two. The star of the experience would definitely be the Eggs Benedict. The goodness of that plate of food makes me return every time. I always have the vegetarian option: crispy bruschetta, wilted spinach, flavoursome mushrooms and perfectly poached silky eggs topped of with a tangy hollandaise sauce. It is divine. At R65 it is a breakfast I will pay for gladly. It never dissapoints.

The service is fairly good; I've experienced that you might have a little wait during the rush, but all the waiters are friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a quick on-the-go type of breakfast, especially during the morning rush, this might not be the place for you. It is small, quirky, and the music is quite modern. The interior is fresh and modern and they always have a new artist they give exposure to by having a little exhibit up on the wall.

I absolutely adore Lola's. If you're looking for a heavenly Eggs Benedict and a Long street vibey experience, this eclectic little corner café won't dissapoint.
The food has been consistently delicious - both the chef's special and the steak (absolutely superb) is highly recommended. The service was effecient and very friendly, cool vibe too.
The addition of ginger beer to the menu will officially make this my favourite spot, but the fresh fruit and veg juices (with a shot of fresh ginger) are a fanatic substitute.
The best kept.secret in the.CBD. The anchovy toast is to die for in the morning. Service is always great. Lunch menue changes regularly and never dissapoints.

Awesomeness! Perfect little spot in Long Street - food is always D-E-Licious and the menu changes regularly so always something new to try out.

I went to Lola's for lunch with high hopes owing to the good reviews on Zomato. The store is conveniently located on the ever bustling Long Street. Inside there's no aircon so we were greeted by a heat wave as we entered. That actually turned out to be the only thing that greeted us because the wait time at the "Please wait to be seated" sign was just shy of eternity. We eventually got fed up of waiting and seated ourselves having to announce this to the waitress.

The food was nothing worth writing about. The coffee I had was quite bitter and nowhere near the bar set by the surrounding outlets. However, the star of the show was the croissant I had for dessert, it arrived a whole 10-15 minutes after all our drinks had gone cold. In that time it appeared to have completed the Banting diet as it was very small, very firm and drier than my sense of humour.

Probably won't be heading back here any time soon.

FOOD
I went here for breakfast and had their French toasted croissant with banana and vanilla syrup which was divine and something I have never tried before.

SERVICE
Very helpful, were happy to put several tables together to fit my friends and I. Also very friendly staff.

AMBIANCE
I love that you can sit outside right on Long Street.

Great early morning vibe in Longstreet. Breakfasts hit the mark, they were out of the corn-fritters but I was not disappointed with what I thought was going to be a bland 2nd Choice. Best scrambled egg croissant (with bacon) I had thus far.
Elizabeth Lorraine Vd Merwe
Fresh and Funky, this place is the epitome of the Long Street life, with open windows that provide a view of the busy city streets and the daily hustle and bustle. The food is out of this world and the staff are always friendly and smiling. I love to sit outside in the sun and have a excellent cup of coffee and I always meet the loveliest characters . They use to be strictly vegetarian, but meat lovers are now just as welcome! Definitely worth a visit :)

I adore Lola's. It's a small quaint little breakfast/lunch place with the best omelets. The juices are great and service is usually quick and fast. The prices are very reasonable and the presentation is spot on perfect. I have always brought guests from out of town here and they all love it. And their lattes are also very good.
